I don’t know about you, but this time of year I am always torn. I find myself torn between resisting the commercialization of another greeting card holiday and indulging in all the sweet excuses to enjoy the season. To do a Valentine’s Day date out or enjoy a night at home? To buy a card or just say a kind word? I usually land somewhere a little in between. We’ll each arrive at different answers based on our preferences and personalities, but what we hold in common is an opportunity to make sure those around us know we love them. Regardless of how you choose to celebrate, we hope the pages of this month’s magazine will help you do just that as we celebrate and highlight what’s to love in Lakewood Ranch. In a dazzling display of community unity, Lakewood City Lifestyle Magazine celebrated a formal event at Sage Auto Studios in November that transcended the ordinary and reached new heights of elegance—all for a noble cause, raising nearly $10,000 for the Flight to the North Pole Charity. This glamorous affair was an official magazine launch and captured the essence of Lakewood Ranch's imagination and spirit, blending sophistication with philanthropy. The event, dedicated to raising funds for a children's charity that supports terminally ill children, drew an impressive crowd, with attendees donning their most stylish attire. The occasion served not only as a platform for goodwill but also as an opportunity to showcase and support local businesses. The elegant evening was black and white-themed and was without a doubt a one-of-a-kind community showcase not to have been missed.

"It truly is hard to put into words how grateful we are for the support we received from the Lakewood Ranch community and surrounding areas. We have an overwhelming amount of gratitude for each and every single person who took the time to attend our event and celebrate with us," said Publisher Jessi Neitzel. "Without the incredible support from our sponsors, we could not have hosted over 400 people, and we are beyond gracious for their contributions, dedication, and support." Sage Auto Studios' display of highend automobiles added an extra layer of prestige to the event as guests were greeted at the entrance by valet and then stepped out onto a red carpet surrounded by Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porsches, McLarens, and irreplaceable exotic supercars. hugging each champagne glass, welcoming guests to the Lakewood City Lifestyle Launch Party. Culinary delights took center stage as local businesses treated guests to a gastronomic extravaganza. From meticulously crafted sushi (The Grove) to an artfully arranged charcuterie board selection (Curated Catering), and delectable desserts (RiseUp Cafe), the food offerings were not just a feast for the palate but also a celebration of the diverse and delectable options available within the Lakewood Ranch community. Incredible flowers (Tiger Lilly) were on the tables, as well as a stunning green hedge, which was lit up with a neon Lakewood City Lifestyle sign, which provided beautiful photo opportunities (Tropical Thrills). A stunning array of balloons (Balloon Babe) made the Step and Repeat (Sarasota Signs Shop) THE go-to place for guests to take glamorous photos. The two Bars had a plethora of wine, beer and cocktails including the Signature Drink of the event, a replica of the Grove's "Ranch Water." As attendees socialized, the air resonated with the harmonious notes of live piano music provided by Timmy Phelan, 13-year-old piano prodigy, highlighted in October's issue, setting the perfect ambiance for an unforgettable evening. The music provided the soundtrack for a night of laughter and moments shared in the spirit of giving. The evening included a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by the former mayor of Sarasota, Kyle Battie, supported by the Lakewood Ranch Business Alliance and Sarasota Chamber of Commerce. This symbolic gesture reinforced the strong sense of community and cooperation that defined the Lakewood City Lifestyle event. The ribbon-cutting not only marked a

formal opening but also signified a commitment to continued collaboration and support for charitable causes and business success throughout the Sarasota and Bradenton communities. In the end, the Lakewood Ranch celebration went beyond being a mere gathering—it was a testament to the community's ability to come together for a greater purpose. As attendees departed, having enjoyed elite automobiles, gourmet food, networking, and enchanting entertainment, they left with more than just memories. They carried with them the satisfaction of contributing to a worthy cause, knowing that their glamorous night had made a meaningful impact on the lives of children in need. The true goal of the launch party was to spotlight and raise money for the Flight to the North Pole charity in which there were 37 silent auction items provided by Lakewood City Lifestyle advertising partners and local businesses. Sidney Ettedgui, Director of the charity, had a chance to speak to the assembled crowd on behalf of their cause and is also showcased in a featured editorial in this month's issue. "The desired and achieved outcome of this event was to bring awareness to the non-profit we so strongly believe in," said Jessi. "Lakewood City Lifestyle is creating a community center in which we can't wait to bring more connectivity, and celebrate the phenomenal people who live and work here while raising money for the amazing non-profits in the larger Lakewood Ranch community." We look forward to celebrating our partners and the community at our upcoming Women's Event taking place in May, Men's Event taking place in June, and an even larger fundraising Gala taking place in October 2024 at Sage Auto Studios in Lakewood Ranch. The 2023 edition of the cherished "Flight to the North Pole" unfolded with an overwhelming surge of joy and warmth. Originating in 1985 through the vision of Eastern Airlines flight attendants and Sidney Ettedgui, this extraordinary event has gracefully evolved into a cherished annual tradition. At Feld Entertainment Inc., reimagined as a whimsical Christmas Wonderland, more than 400 terminally ill children reveled in heartwarming festivities. Orchestrated by Sidney Ettedgui, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, and the Sarasota/Bradenton Airport Fire Department, the event seamlessly immersed children and their families in the enchantment of the season. The iconic "Grave Digger," Monster Jam’s renowned monster truck, played a pivotal role in transporting "Santa," who, upon arrival, enveloped the children with heartfelt hugs, sparking palpable excitement. Within Feld, a Santa's workshop awaited, where children shared their wishes with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus and received thoughtful gift bags. Generous contributions from businesses and citizens in Manatee and Sarasota counties materialized in an outpouring of gifts, delectable food, captivating entertainment, and more. The end result was a spectacular Christmas extravaganza—a symphony of snow, elves, lights, and Santa Claus—granting each child not only gifts and photographs but also an abundance of cherished memories. Amidst the festive atmosphere, families relished a delightful lunch, serenades by "Elvis" and other singers, all orchestrated by the dedicated efforts of volunteers. The atmosphere provided families a temporary reprieve from the burdens of illness, allowing them to savor the holiday season stress-free.

FACES OF RESILIENCE: JUDE AND CHANDREA'S INSPIRING STORIES

Gracing our cover is Jude, a 5-year-old with Down syndrome, autism, and a chronic heart condition, who has courageously undergone a couple of open-heart surgeries. His mom, Natalie McElyea, radiated happiness to be there alongside him. Chandrea Hicks confronts the challenges of Aicardi syndrome, a rare disease for which they found themselves frequenting the hospital. For the Hicks family, the Flight to the North Pole extends beyond an event; it's a yearly family reunion, a community of love, and a celebration of resilience. In the heartfelt words of Jenny Hicks, "We cherish moments like these because they connect us with people who love the community. It's an opportunity to get to know all the different families—it's like having a family reunion once a year. It’s heartwarming to witness the younger generation volunteering with the special needs kids."

Beyond the individual stories, the event itself became a beacon of hope. The heartwarming resonance of the "Flight to the North Pole" lingers in the memories of all who attended. The event showcased the community's unwavering spirit, proving that when compassion and unity converge, the result is pure magic. As the children and families departed, they carried with them not just presents, but a shared sense of hope and a strengthened bond within the community—a testament to the enduring power of love during the holiday season and beyond. With influences such as Sam Cooke, Jeff Buckley, Prince, Michael Jackson, and Elton John, BABYL, prides himself in being multi-generational pop, indie, rock, soul, and R&B Artist.
