March is our Home and Design issue! Home is the place of retreat, rest, love, and shelter from the outside world—a place where you can let your guard down and just be. In a world that can be chaotic at times, home can be a place of comfort, security, and great family memories. Take time to enjoy being home and all the small moments truly present with family. It's always fun to look at beautiful homes and dream about renovations. Homeowners know all too well that there is always something to maintain, remodel, or improve. So, in this issue, we introduce you to Kristin Giebler and her Aliso Viejo-based company, MAC Flooring. This woman-owned and operated enterprise is on the rise and making a big, positive impact on the industry and its customers. We also discuss the growing popularity of outdoor living spaces and share some great technology that can enhance your home's entertainment value. Enjoy!

Kristin Giebler and MAC Flooring, Inc. are Changing Perceptions in South Orange County

Kristin Giebler, Owner and CEO, MAC Flooring, Inc.
When I walked into MAC Flooring for the first time to meet its owner and CEO, Kristin Giebler, I could immediately tell this enterprise was on a level all its own. Having been a real estate broker for many years, I’ve spent a lot of time around remodels, contractors, and flooring shops. However, I’ve never seen a more pristine office presentation in the industry. ‘This is not your typical flooring company,’ I thought to myself. The showroom was spotless. But that’s just where it started. As I got to know Kristin better, it became obvious that being a woman-owned and operated business in the construction industry is changing perceptions; and that is a big part of MAC Flooring’s explosive growth and long-term branding success. That makes good sense. Since a great majority of the buying decisions in flooring projects are made by women, Kristin has effectively brought a female-centric approach and shopping experience to a market in need. In addition to the amazing clutter-free showroom presentation—complete with a gracious reception, freshly dusted fixtures, comfortable meeting space, great lighting, and a soothing dose of soft, smooth jazz filling the air—Kristin’s sales process is anything but mechanical or transactional. It’s truly a 5-star experiential process that starts with the first ‘hello.’ Working with MAC Flooring is a perfect storm of professional service—with education, design, and genuine personalized care taking priority over every transaction. This has created a clear differentiation between MAC Flooring and its competitors… and it’s working. But it is not just Kristin and her showroom making such a great impression. MAC Flooring’s soft approach, and
customer-centric philosophy, permeate through the entire staff. Having spent some time with a few of Kristin’s team members, it is obvious that they are all in synch—enthusiastically embracing their Mission to exceed client expectations at every touchpoint. “Our Company Culture is our greatest achievement and it’s what truly sets us apart,” says Kristin. “We are all on the same page and working to support each other’s personal wellness and business success. At the end of the day, it’s all based upon mutual respect, and I would never ask anyone on my team to do something I would not be willing to do myself,” she stated emphatically. It’s easy to see that MAC Flooring is a business whose brand strategy was carefully nurtured over the long term. Prior to launching the company, Kristin put herself through design school and earned a certificate from the Interior Design Institute of Newport Beach. On this foundation, she birthed MAC Flooring in her garage back in 2011—and the company celebrated its 10th anniversary last year. From these humble beginnings, Kristin persistently, and successfully, promoted her venture through business referral groups—all the while becoming a regular fixture at the swap meet. Always a believer in a hard work ethic, uncompromised integrity, and the “walk-before-you-run” approach to business development, MAC Flooring had built a solid reputation for excellence long before opening its first brick and mortar location. The business has continued to thrive through its growing list of referrals: slowly, organically, and authentically. Because of this, it’s no wonder MAC Flooring has CONTINUED >

BACK YARD OASIS REELTIME SIGHT & SOUND BRINGS HIGH-TECH TO OUTDOOR LIVING There is so much amazing technology designed to enhance your in-home lifestyle these days. With Spring in the air, Jon Colburn at ReelTime Sight & Sound, shared all that’s available to make your outdoor living experience complete. Outdoor living areas catering to everyday needs such as work, relaxation, and quality family time are becoming the norm. Let’s face it, Southern California weather is meant for outdoor living, and backyard space is more essential than ever.

With ReelTime’s help, your outdoor living space can become a seamless extension of your home’s interior. Adding audio, video, and lighting can transform any yard into the perfect place to entertain family and friends. Having served Orange County for over 50 years, family-owned ReelTime will design and install the perfect system to meet your needs and vision. takes backyard entertainment to a whole new level. Today’s outdoor TVs are designed to resist the elements, and they’re even equipped with internal cooling systems to withstand high temperatures. All models have anti-glare screens and deliver bright high definition in the outdoor environment. Also included are a sealed wiring compartment to keep moisture out, powerful audio systems, and a weatherproof remote. Landscape Speakers Speakers should be heard and not seen. New models are designed to hide underneath foliage or be affixed to trees throughout the outdoor area. Satellite speakers can be mounted in exposed beams or vaulted ceilings to deliver the highest sonic performance combined with evenly distributed sound levels. Also, subwoofers are buried in the garden bed with only their metal canopy above ground and hidden by plants. For hardscape installations, the subwoofer can be a stand-alone architectural element
or be built into a planter box or outdoor furniture for a more discreet look. You’ll be enveloped in high-quality sound at the perfect listening level, no matter where you are positioned in the space. Finally, sound containment is critically important. Today’s products utilize directional speakers that are focused on the desired area, minimizing sound spill, and reducing the risk of disturbing your neighbors. Outdoor Lighting Lighting is no longer just a utility for your home. Creating an ambiance that encourages guests to linger requires good lighting. Fortunately, there are a lot of lighting products on the market that will enhance the open-air feel of your space and make outdoor entertaining even better.
