Welcome to the Home issue!
It seems to me that there’s something special about pulling into your driveway after a long day and knowing you’re exactly where you belong. In the Jordan River area, "home" isn't just a street address—it’s the heart of our community. It’s where we raise our families, host Sunday dinners, and maybe hide from the laundry for a few minutes.

This month, we’re highlighting the local pros who help turn a house into a home. First, meet Jennifer Sweat, a competitive tennis player turned realtor who brings the same "win-at-all-costs" energy to finding your dream home as she does to her national tennis matches. She’s all about helping you find that perfect spot to plant your roots.
Once you find the place, you need people who care about your stuff as much as you do. Landon and Amanda Franchow at Miracle Movers treat every box like it’s filled with gold. They aren't just moving furniture; they’re helping neighbors navigate big life changes with kindness and compassion.
Finally, if your space needs a refresh, Brian and Janet Snow from One Day Doors & Closets are here to help. They use cool 3D tech to make sure every door fits perfectly, helping your home reflect your unique style. They believe in doing things right the first time, so you can spend your time on what really matters— making memories.
Here’s to strong homes, happy families, and a community that supports us all! Happy March!
Best,

Proverbs 3:5-6

ts looking to put t g retirement plans. In these cases sometimes I have to give them advice they don’t want to hear.
For example, many clients have debt and most have at least a home mortgage. Often these customers feel that they need to pay debt down or pay off debt before they get started with investing and saving for retirement Unfortunately, simple math usually shows that this is the wrong approach to preparing for our financial future Since most home mortgages have rates somewhere around 2 to 4 percent and most longterm retirement portfolios earn substantially higher than this at around 7 to 9 percent , smart clients should prioritize saving and investing for their retirement above paying off their home mortgages
Another example is investing in the stock market . Some clients do not want to discuss stock market investing because they are solely focused on their real estate or personal businesses investments. However, consider the risks: If real estate projects fail or businesses become insolvent , these individuals may be left with no retirement savings or investment whatsoever Market investing should be seen as another way to diversify investment holdings and, in a way, to lower risk
Make sure that your financial advisor gives you wise advice, whether you want to hear it or not . After all , that ’s what you’re paying them for

JENN SWEAT WINS IN REAL ESTATE AND TENNIS ALIKE

Jennifer Sweat plays to win.
Whether she’s stepping onto a tennis court or navigating a competitive real estate market, she approaches both with the same intensity. “I’m competitive,” Jenn says. “I like a challenge. And I believe in myself to the extent that I’m willing to go for it 100% and be willing to fail if I fail.” To her, failure is simply a challenge to regroup and look at things from a different angle.
Sports have always been a huge part of Jenn’s life. She grew up playing all kinds and never really stopped. Now, she plays tennis year-round and competes at a national level.
Through the United States Tennis Association, Jenn has made it to national championships three times with her teams, and in 2022, one of her teams placed fourth in the country in their division. And she’s not slowing down. Jenn says this year, it’s one of her goals to go back to the national championships.
And that competitive drive doesn’t turn off when she leaves the court. It carries straight into her day-to-day work. Jenn has been in real estate for 10 years now. Initially, she intended for real estate to be a side gig.

“I felt like I would love having that flexibility in my schedule and determining my own paycheck,” she says. Then, as she was studying to get her real estate license, she was unexpectedly laid off from her sales job.
“The door was wide open, so I just jumped through it,” Jenn says. “I was driven, I was hungry, and ready to just take it on, full steam ahead.” She remembers making a clear decision at that moment: “All right, if I’m gonna do it, I’m gonna do it 100%. Let’s go.”
While she acknowledges the challenges of the real estate market, such as shifting interest rates and buyers sitting on fences because of the economy, Jenn believes the “tough will survive.” So, she’s still here, “rocking and rolling,” and showing up for her clients, as well as her kids.
One of the things that drew Jenn to real estate was the flexibility. She’s a single mom, and when she started out, she needed to balance raising her kids while working full-time. Because working in real estate is so flexible, it wasn’t a problem. “If I knew something was coming up with my kids, I could schedule stuff around that,” Jenn says.

Although 2025 ended up being her lowest production year in a decade, Jenn describes it as life-changing. The slower pace allowed her to refocus, invest more time in tennis, and reset mentally for the next chapter.
That next chapter includes a new opportunity: appearing on the Real Estate Essentials Show on ABC4, where she’ll present up-and-coming home listings. “It’s put some plasma back into my real estate blood,” Jenn says.
She’s deeply invested in her clients’ happiness, which is why she’s so excited about hosting the show. Filmed in a studio at her brokerage, the Real Estate Essentials Show helps Jenn give her clients’ homes maximum exposure.
Whatever else is part of her next chapter, Jenn’s not done testing her limits. This month, she turns 55, and she feels that this will be her golden year, her best year ever in real estate.
“I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface in my potential as a real estate agent,” she says. “I want to triple what I did this past year, and I know that if I really put the effort in, I’ll be unstoppable.”

How Miracle Movers Shows Up for Its Community
ARTICLE BY ABI FALIN HORSPOOL
PHOTOGRAPHY BY JEN FOX PHOTOGRAPHY
“We’re your neighbors,” Landon Franchow, owner of Miracle Movers, says. “And we’re here to help.”
That idea of community and trust sits at the center of Salt Lake City-based company Miracle Movers. Nearly all of its customers come from within a 50-mile radius of the business.

“We understand that we have the infrastructure and equipment to help possibly save somebody’s life.”
“We’re so grateful for our local community because that’s who our people are,” says Landon’s wife and co-owner of the company, Amanda Franchow. The company’s growth has come through referrals as neighbors tell neighbors who to call when they’re ready to move.
As put together as it is now, Miracle Movers didn’t begin with a polished business plan. When Landon started the company in 2018, he was renting U-Hauls, calling friends for help, and figuring things out as he went. “I didn’t really know what I was doing,” he says. “But that’s the fun of being an entrepreneur, figuring things out.” And that’s what he wanted to be—an entrepreneur.
Landon had decided he was done working for someone else. “I made a decision that I was never going to get another job again,” he says. But as the company grew, Landon found himself doing everything, and it started wearing him out.
“I was doing the moves, driving the truck, handling customer service inquiries, sales, and marketing,” he says. “I found myself in a place where I was having a lot of trouble delegating.”
Around that time, he and Amanda got engaged. Amanda chose to leave her stable, well-paying finance job to join Miracle Movers full-time. “It was a huge relief and a weight off my shoulders,” Landon says.
Together, they scaled Miracle Movers from one truck to nine, with plans to add five more soon to accommodate the rising demand for their services.
Over the years, what hasn’t changed is how they view the work. Moving, they say, is rarely just about logistics.
“It’s a very stressful experience for people,” Landon says. Even positive moves carry weight, and many are prompted by difficult circumstances. “There can be negative and life-altering precursors that lead somebody to actually move,” he says, referencing divorce, job loss, and death.

Because of that reality, Miracle Movers has always been more than just a service provider. They strive to work with kindness and compassion.
The true impact of what they could do became apparent after a phone call Landon received several years ago. A woman whispered on the line, asking if Miracle Movers could come get her and her belongings while her abuser was away. “I broke down in tears,” Landon says. The experience pushed him to ask what responsibility his business carried within the community it served.
Now, the company works with organizations like the Utah Domestic Violence Coalition and Safe Harbor, offering support to domestic violence survivors who need to leave unsafe situations quickly. To date, Miracle Movers has assisted in over 30 free domestic violence moves. “We understand that we have the infrastructure and equipment to help possibly save somebody’s life,” Landon says.
This is important to the Franchows, because, at the end of the day, Miracle Movers isn’t just about moving boxes. It’s about neighbors helping neighbors. “The support that we’ve had from the community and the growth,” Amanda says, “that’s what I consider my biggest blessing.”
Landon and Amanda’s goal is to keep showing up for the community that continues to trust them in some of life’s most vulnerable moments.
Miracle Movers is located at 2323 Directors Row Suite 200 in Salt Lake City. Find them online at MiracleMoversUtah.com or by calling 385-332-3292

Janet laughs after I ask if she and her husband Brian were passionate about doors before taking over the Utah dealership of One Day Doors & Closets, the largest company of its kind in North America. “Doors were not on my radar at all,” she says.
Before buying the company, the Snows thought of doors much like the rest of us, more like background noise, until something broke. But really, good doors are what make or break a million dollar home.
Brian says he sees it constantly: customers who come into their showroom wishing they’d known more before buying the cheapest option on the market, and then spending hours and hundreds of dollars fixing something that didn’t quite work in the first place.
Janet and Brian want to do things right the first time, so people don’t have to deal with the regret of shortcuts.
Brian says of their customers, “We want it more than they do sometimes,” because they don’t always know what’s possible until someone takes the time to explain everything honestly… understanding the structure of a door and why it matters so much to have one that fits right and looks right, right from the get-go.
With state of the art 3D scanning technology, One Day Doors is able to craft the perfect door for any space, and that quality makes a difference.
Brian says that for one customer, it clicked after seeing One Day Doors’ finished work in their home. They said, “This is the first time I know I live in a million-dollar house.”
The culture of doing things right extends beyond just the physical labor the company does. That same philosophy shapes the company’s employees and the way they treat their customers.
Brian spent years in corporate environments where promises of growth didn’t match reality and familial shorthand was thrown around. Brian says that although the company would call their employees a family, “it wasn’t a family” because they weren’t treated as such. He wants it to be different here, making sure everyone feels important.
After 23 years teaching kindergarten, Janet says she understands “how to build a culture in a community in a classroom or in a school.” In both places, she says it’s about trust and making sure people feel like they belong.
Together, they’re building a culture of care, because life is short.
Outside of work, life has given them plenty of perspective. They’ve been married for decades, raised three sons together, and now spend time with their grandsons. They’ve watched people close to them face serious illness and death, a reminder that time is fragile and effort should be spent where it counts. “How much is your time worth?” Brian asks.

“ONE DAY DOORS IS ABLE TO CRAFT THE PERFECT DOOR FOR ANY SPACE, AND THAT QUALITY MAKES A DIFFERENCE.”
Because they know how much time matters, they work hard for the people trying to do the right thing the first time, making a difference in the lives of their employees and their customers, one door at a time.
One Day Doors & Closets of Utah is located at 2784 14000 S in Bluffdale To schedule a consultation at their showroom, call (385) 318-3581 . Learn more about the business online at OneDayDoorsAndClosets.com/Dealers/Bluffdale-UT

Returning to Utah from NYC, this scene welcomed Madeline Rupard home. This intersection of nature and the city of Springville perfectly reflect her art philosophy.
“The signature of my work is that I like to include those things that we might not usually consider as subjects for a painting,” Madeline says. “The gas station, the rest stop, the highways and roads built in and around the mountains… it’s about embracing the humor and structures of modern life in contrast with the beautiful landscape we live in daily in the West."

P A G H E T T I
BY AMY BAILEY

Enjoy this simple, flavorful food for the soul. ‘Pomodoro’ means tomato in Italian, and that’s what this dish is - a fresh tomato sauce with basil, garlic, onion, and olive oil.
• 1 Tbsp salt
• 3 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
• 1/4 cup onion, finely diced
• 4 garlic cloves, finely diced or minced
• 1 lb fresh tomatoes, halved or chopped (I use garden cherry tomatoes if in season or Roma tomatoes are a good choice)
• Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes
• 3 basil sprigs, divided
• 1 lb. spaghetti
• 1 cup Parmesan, finely grated, divided
• 1 Tbsp butter
1. Heat medium-size Dutch Oven or large skillet over medium heat then add extra virgin olive oil and a pinch of salt. Once hot, add chopped onion then saute until tender, 2-3 minutes. Add fresh garlic and saute until golden but not brown, another 30 seconds.
2. Add the chopped tomatoes to the pan with a pinch of sugar then simmer on medium-low for 20-25 minutes. Stir and press the tomatoes against the bottom and sides of the pan to make saucier. If sauce begins to pop too much, turn down even further. (If sauce starts to thicken too much add pasta water as needed.)
3. Meanwhile, bring a pot of water to boil for the pasta and season generously with salt.
4. When sauce is almost ready, add fresh basil leaves torn into small pieces, plus butter, remaining salt, and freshly cracked pepper. Add more salt to taste if needed.
5. Cook the pasta until it’s just shy of al dente then transfer it to the sauce pot with tongs to finish cooking directly in the sauce. Add splashes of pasta water if needed to cook pasta all the way and to keep it saucy.
6. Toss pasta and sauce with 1/2 Parmesan cheese. Serve in pasta bowls and sprinkle remaining cheese on top. Garnish with fresh basil.
