LIFESTYLE LETTER
Explore Your Style
September 2025 PUBLISHER
Dear Fashionistas (and wannabe fashionistas and those who think fashion is silly…), I hope this letter finds you inspired and ready to embrace the beauty of self-expression. Style is such a fascinating part of life—it’s far more than the clothes we wear or the accessories we choose. It’s inevitably woven into every detail of our existence, from the way we decorate our homes to the art and music we enjoy, the books we read and even how we interact with the world around us. It’s the unique thread that creates the tapestry of who we are. What makes style so captivating is its deeply personal nature. It evolves alongside us as we explore new interests, embrace our quirks and express what we value most. You can transform an entire look by just swapping out accessories, shoes and tweaking how it’s styled. It’s a language without words, a powerful tool for connection that can bridge differences and spark shared understanding. And let’s be honest, it feels good to look great. In Cincinnati, we’re fortunate to have endless opportunities to celebrate and explore style. Whether it’s through visiting local boutiques, supporting creative entrepreneurs or simply drawing inspiration from our city’s vibrant culture, there’s so much to ignite your creativity and lift your spirit. This month, I encourage you to think of style as an authentic expression of yourself. The most beautiful style is one that reflects who you truly are—your passions, your story, your individuality. And the incredible thing is that no one else in the world can replicate that. This is your permission slip to celebrate your unique style this season. Perhaps it’s exploring new trends, blending classic elements or creating something entirely original, let this issue inspire you to embrace the power of self-expression. Here’s to being uniquely and unapologetically you. Cheers!

A BACK-TO-SCHOOL BREAKFAST YOU'LL ACTUALLY WANT TO MAKE
Let’s be honest—school mornings are hectic. That’s why I always come back to this simple, healthy overnight oats recipe. It’s only two base ingredients—rolled oats and milk—but it’s full of possibilities. I love making a big batch on Sunday nights so our fridge is stocked and breakfast is one less thing to think about. Being prepared never goes out of style! This no-cook method is not only fast—it’s packed with fiber and has more protein than most grains. You can customize it a million ways with toppings your family loves. These oats keep for up to five days in the fridge, and they’re perfect for meal prep.
Easy 2-Ingredient Overnight Oats • ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats • ½ cup milk of choice (I love almond, oat or cow’s milk) Optional Add-ins for Extra Nutrition & Flavor • ¼ cup Greek yogurt (more protein) • ½ Tablespoon chia seeds (fiber boost) • 1 Tablespoon honey, or maple syrup, or sweetener of choice • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract Favorite Topping Ideas: fresh or dried fruit, nuts & seeds, cinnamon, nut butters & a sprinkle of chocolate chips.

Mix all ingredients in a glass jar. Cover and refrigerate overnight. In the morning, stir well, add toppings and enjoy— cold or warm!

With a concierge approach to customer service, Evolo anticipates client needs throughout the design process from start to finish. "Every project is deeply personal, and it’s a privilege to help guide it from the first conversation to the final installation,” says Kelcey Nelson. “As Director of Operations, I get to be the bridge between vision and execution, making sure everything runs smoothly while building real, lasting relationships along the way." “Remodeling can be stressful,” says Construction Manager Derek Strickland, “but we do everything we can to make the experience smooth, clear and even enjoyable. We anticipate needs and solve problems before they become issues,” he says. “The result is not just a beautiful, timeless design—but a process that respects the client’s time, comfort and vision." Each member of the intuitive team taps into their area of expertise to deliver the wow factor for which Evolo Design is known. "At Evolo, we believe great design starts with listening,” says Associate Designer Daniel Koller. “We take the time to understand how our clients live—their routines, their values, their vision—and we design human-centered spaces that truly support their everyday lives,” CONTINUED >

DEMOLITION EXPERT MICHELE O’ROURKE TRANSFORMS CINCINNATI WITH VISION & VALUES ARTICLE BY A.J. LAPE
PHOTOGRAPHY BY RF GRAPHICS
When Michele O’Rourke traded her pharmaceutical sales job for steel-toed boots and demolition dust, she didn’t just join the family business—she rewrote the playbook. In a field dominated by men and wrecking balls, O’Rourke brought her own kind of grit: a style that stands firm, trusts her instincts and puts people first. At O’ROURKE Wrecking, leadership isn't just about tearing things down—it’s about building up Cincinnati.

“I never set out to break into the demolition world,” O’Rourke explains. “It found me by default.” After her father-in-law passed away, she stepped in to support her husband and the family company. What began as a stopgap quickly became a calling. She learned the business from the ground up, proving that hard hats have no gender—and that vision and values matter as much as blueprints and bids. “At the time, there weren’t many women in leadership roles in this industry,” she explains. “What kept me going was seeing the pride our team took in their work and knowing I had the opportunity to help grow a company that could make a real impact on projects and people.” Today, O’ROURKE Wrecking is a nationwide contractor specializing in demolition and environmental cleanup. Their work spans from precise, small-scale jobs to major commercial and industrial takedowns, including asbestos removal, environmental hazard mitigation and rapid emergency response. “What makes our work both unique and complex,” she says, “is that no two projects are ever the same. Each brings its own set of engineering, safety and environmental challenges.” The company has handled some of Cincinnati’s most high-profile projects—from the implosion of Cincinnati’s Riverfront Stadium to the careful dismantling of the Millennium Hotel and preservation of the historic Albee Arch at the Duke Energy Convention Center. Each job requires detailed planning, precision and clear communication. For O’Rourke, though, demolition isn’t about destruction— it’s about transformation. “It’s about understanding the lifecycle of a structure,” she shares, “knowing how to take it apart responsibly and doing so in a way that leaves the site and the community better than we found it.”
“To me, that’s what real leadership is— using your platform to elevate others.” —MICHELE O'ROURKE
Her leadership style reflects that philosophy: intentional, grounded and collaborative. “I lead with high expectations,” she shares, “but I’m equally focused on creating an environment where people feel valued and heard. Early on, I probably felt like I had to carry everything on my shoulders. Now, I see leadership as a shared responsibility.” CONTINUED >

Over the years, her trailblazing journey as a leader of a certified woman-owned business has fueled a personal mission— to open doors for other women in construction. O’Rourke mentors rising professionals, helps women secure board seats and has created scholarships through the Spirit of Construction Foundation. “To me, that’s what real leadership is—using your platform to elevate others,” she says. That mindset extends beyond the job site. “Cincinnati is home,” says O’Rourke. “It’s where our business was built and where our people live and work. Giving back is part of who we are.”

Whether it’s supporting local schools, cleaning up illegal dumping sites or funding swim programs for kids in Ziegler Park, O’ROURKE Wrecking stays deeply connected to the people and neighborhoods that surround them. That commitment hasn’t gone unnoticed. O’Rourke was recently recognized with the first annual Voices of Vision Award, given by Women100 Cincy and Indian Hill City Lifestyle, honoring her role as a business leader and community builder. It’s a fitting tribute for someone who didn’t plan to be here—but once she arrived, never stepped back. OROURKEWrecking.com | 513.871.1400
