"Every woman's success should be an inspiration to another. We're strongest when we cheer each other on." -Serena Williams
Confident, strong and poised are the words that come to mind when I think of women who've inspired me over the years. There’s something truly special about taking a moment to recognize the women in our lives who make the world more vibrant and beautiful. Whether it's our mothers, daughters, friends or colleagues, these women are often the silent forces that shape our days and make life richer.

With Mother’s Day this month, our thoughts naturally turn to all those incredible women—biological mothers and mother figures alike—who have made an unforgettable impact on us.
I have been inspired by so many women in life: from my mother, who chose an alternative education style way before it was "en vogue;" to friends, who've supported me through joys and trials; and leaders in business, who've shown me what's possible by paving the way. We all stand on the shoulders of giants.
This month, as we celebrate the remarkable women in our lives, I also want to encourage you to support local businesses owned by women in our community. One of my favorite parts of this job is connecting with and championing the incredible women here in Cincinnati. From movers and shakers to makers and builders, these women bring so much to the table, both seen and unseen. Their contributions, often behind the scenes, create beauty and impact that cannot be replicated.
This is the very reason we created the Voices of Vision award in collaboration with Women100. In this month's issue you'll meet three phenomenal nominees who've all made an impact. Honoring them is the least we can do! It's our hope, that year after year, we will be able to showcase female leaders in the community who've opted for collaboration over competition.
Take a moment this month to recognize the women in your life. Send a text, make a phone call or arrange a video call with the women who have made a difference for you. It’s a simple but powerful way to brighten someone’s day and remind them how much they’re loved.
Here’s to celebrating the women who make life so much more meaningful. Happy Mother’s Day and cheers to the ladies who inspire us every day!

The challenge to prioritize health and fitness is not lost on Paula Hensley, co-owner of Zones Gym. She knows all about the obstacles. That’s why she developed a gym that appeals on all levels.
“At its core, Zones Gym is defined by three pillars,” she says. “An uncompromising standard of cleanliness and presentation; expert-led, small group training with an emphasis on proper form and progression; and a fully integrated approach to recovery and performance.”
Together, she explains, these elements create an environment that feels both elevated and approachable, where excellence is expected, but never intimidating.
Zones Gym opened in Milford just over a year ago. Paula has spent her life in Greater Cincinnati, and Zones Gym cofounder Ryan Hensley, Paula’s daughter-in-law, relocated from Columbus after serving in the Peace Corps. Their combined perspectives— deep local roots paired with broader life experience—inform the gym’s balance of community and sophistication.

Zones Gym is shaped, Paula says, by “two distinct but highly complementary paths.” She brings more than two decades of entrepreneurial experience to the table, having owned and successfully exited multiple businesses, including a restoration company she operated with her husband. Meanwhile, Ryan’s background “reflects both discipline and purpose,” she shares— ”first as a collegiate soccer athlete, then as a Peace Corps volunteer whose service was cut short by the pandemic and later as an environmental biologist with the EPA.”
Paula points out that the idea for Zones Gym came to them from a shared realization.
“There was an absence of an adults-only fitness environment that felt both elevated and genuinely supportive,” she explains. “Traditional gyms often felt impersonal or, at times, intimidating, particularly for those seeking guidance in strength training or returning from injury. Zones was conceived as an alternative–an environment where members feel confident, comfortable and cared for. There is a particular sensitivity to the experience of

women in fitness spaces, while still maintaining a welcoming, coed atmosphere.”
Zones further distinguishes itself with a seamless integration of fitness and recovery programs. Its Recovery Zone, for example, offers a private infrared sauna and cold plunge suites, red light therapy and massage pods—all of which can be reserved via a convenient smartphone app. Additionally, a dedicated Zen studio
provides space for yoga and Pilates, while the training floor features state-of-the-art equipment arranged with both function and flow in mind.
Membership at Zones Gym has grown over the past year to approximately 250.
“That growth was with intention, rather than scale,” Paula says.
The Zones style is an emphasis on cultivating a community which values quality, consistency and a more refined approach to wellness.
“This measured growth allows for a more personalized experience—one where members are recognized, supported and never lost in the crowd,” she says.
Looking ahead, Zones Gym is actively exploring collaborations with local professionals, including physical therapists and wellness providers. The intention is to create a more comprehensive ecosystem—one where fitness, recovery and expert care intersect seamlessly.
“At Zones, we’ve created more than a place to work out. We’ve created an environment where wellness becomes part of a lifestyle,” Paula says. “It’s intentionally designed, deeply personal and built around consistency. Our goal is not just to help people feel better in the moment, but to support how they live, move and feel for years to come.”

The Barn Offers Timeless Charm & Intentional Surroundings Filled with History, Creativity & Camaraderie
The Barn, a cultural arts center open to all, is nestled among the private residences of Cambridge Avenue in Mariemont. Many pass the striking white-shingled building unaware of the vibrant art classes, summer camps, exhibitions, showers, weddings and events held within its carefully restored walls—or its storied history.
“People are so surprised to see a beautiful art gallery in the middle of a barn, in the middle of a neighborhood,” shares Executive Director Christine Parker.
The Barn is the cherished home of The Woman’s Art Club of Cincinnati Cultural Center. Originally part
of Mariemont founder Mary Emery’s "garden of rest" vision for former Emery Industries employees—meant to include a farm, hospital and retirement cottages—only
The Barn (known as Resthaven Barn) and the hospital were finished before her death. In the 1930s, it served as a dairy for Lindner Quality Milk until United Dairy Farmers was established.
The Woman’s Art Club became part of Resthaven Barn’s story in 2007. Alongside the Mariemont Preservation Foundation and a generous donation from the Lindner family, they made it their mission to purchase it from the

city, preserve it for the community and cultivate a space for artists and people of all ages and backgrounds to enjoy the arts.
“We have three legs we stand on: art and the artists who create it, stewardship of this incredible historic building with an incredible story and the community that happens between people. That's what makes it magical,” Christine says.
There are plenty of reasons for more people to experience the magic of The Barn, but two upcoming events couldn’t be more perfect.
Myrtle Blankenbuehler, a Woman’s Art Club member and active volunteer at The Barn, recently passed away at the age of 105. Her daughter, Debbie Latham, reached out to see if they could hold an exhibition of her artwork in the gallery.
Debbie notes, “My mother knew that this building could fulfill the dream for The Woman's Art Club. To have a permanent place, where artists could gather, learn from one another and create a space that dovetailed into the vision of Mary Emery, building community through art.”
That dream and Blankenbuehler’s steadfast determination to preserve Resthaven Barn come full circle with her gallery exhibition "Storied Women: Myrtle Blankenbuehler," on May 7-12, with an opening reception on May 8 from 6-8 p.m.
On May 7, Concierge Medicine of Cincinnati presents Hormones & Harmony: An Artistic Evening of Wellness Celebration. The event, featuring food, drinks and hormone education with CMoC's Ronda Lehn, CNP, and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner, concludes with a stress-relieving, hands-on artistic project.
This summer, The Barn will be bustling with art camps, including their popular DIY Studio and Sewing & Fashion Design Camps for tweens and teens. Christine also hopes to establish a free coffee shop on Friday mornings for folks to stop by, grab a cup and admire the artwork.
“A lot of smart, kind and giving people came before us,” enthuses Christine. “And now it's our turn to continue the hard work and make The Barn financially stable. What we see for the future is really about offering more ways for people to embrace this treasure.”

This Berry Bruschetta is a delightful twist on the classic bruschetta that we all love. This version uses fruit, bringing a sweet element to the traditionally savory dish. With the use of fresh berries, cream cheese, delicious fruit spread, crumbled cheese, and fresh rosemary, it is the perfect addition to your next spring event. This simple, yet beautiful appetizer could be enjoyed at your next brunch, shower or Mother’s Day celebration. But let’s be honest—you don’t need an excuse to enjoy this delectable dish!

INGREDIENTS:
• 12 baguette slices
• Extra virgin olive oil (for brushing)
• 4 oz cream cheese
• 1/4 cup Fruit and Honey Triple Berry Spread (or any fruit spread of your choice)
• 1/3 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
• 1/3 cup fresh blueberries
• 2 oz fruit cheese (such as Wensleydale with Autumn Fruit), crumbled
• Fresh rosemary for garnish
DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. Lightly brush the front and back of the baguette slices with Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
3. Toast baguette slices in the oven for 3-5 minutes or until lightly toasted.
4. Once the baguette slices are cool, spread a generous layer of cream cheese over each slice.
5. Add the fruit spread on top of the cream cheese.
6. Add sliced strawberries and a few blueberries, allowing the vibrant colors to pop. (A great place to find fresh fruit is our local staple, Crystal & Rich’s Produce.)
7. Crumble the fruit cheese over the top for an added layer of richness and depth.
8. Garnish with fresh Rosemary if desired.
9. Serve and enjoy!

The power of taste, trust, and the courage to “just start.”
She didn’t have a business plan, a media budget, or even a name anyone could pronounce. What Becky Hillyard had was taste, a young family, and the instinct to just start. Today, her lifestyle brand Cella Jane commands an audience the size of Vogue’s , she’s nine collections strong with Splendid, and she’s built it all while raising three kids — refusing to sacrifice one for the other. In an exclusive conversation for the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Becky shares what it really takes to build a brand, a career, and a life you love. Read the highlights below, then scan the QR code for the full conversation.

Q: WHEN DID YOU KNOW CELLA JANE WAS MORE THAN A HOBBY?
A: Two moments. Women started emailing me saying they bought something I recommended and felt amazing — asking me to help them find a dress for a wedding. That felt incredible. Then I looked at my affiliate numbers for one month and realized I could cover our mortgage. I thought, I can actually do this. I never set out to build a business. I started it because I genuinely loved it.

Q: WHAT WAS THE BIGGEST RISK YOU EVER TOOK WITH THE BRAND?
A: Designing my own collection. It’s easy to point at items on a website and say I love these. But to create something from scratch, put your name on it, and wait to see if people connect with it — that’s terrifying. I had an incredible partner in Splendid, and women loved the pieces. It was the biggest risk and the biggest accomplishment.
Q: HOW HAS INFLUENCER MARKETING CHANGED SINCE YOU STARTED?
A: When I started, brands didn’t know whether to take it seriously. Now it’s a legitimate line item in their marketing budgets — sometimes bigger than TV. Because what we’ve built is trust. People trust a real recommendation from someone they follow far more than a commercial. There’s no question about it now.
Q: YOU’RE A MOM OF THREE RUNNING A FULL BRAND. WHAT DOES YOUR DAY ACTUALLY LOOK LIKE?
A: I try to get up at five and not hit snooze — that first hour before the house wakes up is the most productive, most peaceful hour of my day. Then it’s all hands on deck with the kids and school drop-off. After that I work — planning content, connecting with my team, editing. After pickup, the day shifts completely and it’s all about them. I’ve learned to protect both halves fiercely, because both matter.

Q: WHAT WOULD YOU TELL SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO BUILD SOMETHING OF THEIR OWN BUT KEEPS WAITING?
A: Don’t wait. Don’t wait for the perfect camera, the right strategy, or enough followers. We find every excuse to stay comfortable. Just start, be consistent, and be authentically yourself. The right people will find you — and they’ll stay.
This conversation is just the beginning. Becky goes deeper on the risks that almost stopped her, the design process behind her latest Splendid collection, and what she’d tell her 2012 self today. Scan the QR code for the full, exclusive City Lifestyle interview on the Share the Lifestyle podcast.
“Trust is the only metric that actually compounds.”

WELLNESS THROUGH NUTRITION: HOW TO EAT FOR ENERGY, MUSCLE & STEADY BLOOD SUGAR
Wellness isn’t just about what you avoid; it’s about how you fuel your body so it can perform at its best. The right dietary choices can dramatically improve daily energy, support lean muscle mass and keep blood sugar steady—three pillars of feeling strong and vibrant. And while these habits benefit everyone of all ages, they become even more important as we age and our metabolism naturally shifts.
A great place to start is with protein, the foundation of muscle repair, metabolism and satiety. Many people underestimate how much protein they need to feel energized and maintain lean muscle mass. Including a meaningful source of protein at each meal—such as eggs, Greek yogurt, poultry, fish or legumes—helps stabilize appetite and provides the building blocks your muscles rely on. Balanced meals containing at least 20–30 grams of protein can make a noticeable difference in strength and stamina.
Carbohydrates also play a crucial role, but the type matters. Slow-digesting, fiber-rich carbohydrates provide steady fuel without the spikes and crashes that drain energy. Think oats, quinoa, beans, berries and vegetables. Pairing these carbs with protein or healthy fats helps keep blood sugar stable and supports sustained focus throughout the day.
Healthy fats are another essential component of a wellness-focused diet. Foods like avocado, nuts, seeds and olive oil support hormone balance, brain function and long-lasting satiety. Omega-3 rich foods—such as salmon, chia seeds and walnuts—also help reduce inflammation and support overall metabolic health.
Finally, don’t overlook hydration and micronutrients. Vitamins and minerals like magnesium, vitamin D and B vitamins play key roles in energy production and muscle function. Drinking enough water throughout the day improves digestion, reduces fatigue and helps regulate appetite.
With consistent, nutrient-dense choices, you can build a diet that supports energy, strength and balanced blood sugar—and helps you feel your best every day.

BRING THE BRIGHTNESS AND FRESHNESS OF SPRING INDOORS BY CREATING YOUR OWN FLORAL BOWL ARRANGEMENT.

Spring, come quickly! And if not, bring spring indoors anyway. Flowers brighten any room, any day of the year. No need to wait for a special occasion or holiday – give yourself permission to brighten everyday life with a bowl full of flowers. Place florals in an entryway, kitchen, living room space or even bathroom. Florals make any room come alive with pops of color and the smells of spring that’s just about ready to burst outside.
Consider this your personal invitation to play with flowers by creating your very own Floral Bowl Arrangement. Use any cereal bowl in the kitchen and a bundle of store bought flowers. For extra texture and depth, look for small spring branches and ornamental grasses found in your yard to pop into the arrangement, like I did here. Then, place your floral bowl in a place where you need that burst of joy most. Enjoy!

• 1 bundle of flowers (about 24 stems) + floral food packet
• spring branches & ornamental grasses found in your yard (optional)
• 6” bowl (cereal bowl size)
• floral shears (or garden clippers, kitchen shears, even craft scissors in a pinch)
• 12” square cut chicken wire
• wire cutters
• garden gloves to protect your hands when forming chicken wire
• clear floral tape (scotch tape will also do)
• lazy susan to easily move your arrangement and work from all sides (optional)
• First prepare the mechanics. The mechanics are the non-floral elements used to assemble a floral arrangement. These materials will act as a grid in which the flowers are built into to hold each stem in its place.
• Wearing garden gloves, cut chicken wire roughly into a 12” square. Loosely form the chicken wire into a ball and place inside the bowl.
• Use clear floral tape to make an X shape over the top of the bowl to hold the chicken wire securely into place. This will also give extra support when adding the floral elements later.
• Fill the bowl with water and mix in a flower food packet, if your flowers came with one.
• Begin to arrange floral elements into the bowl. As a general rule, you will want to start with the strongest, thickest stems and end with the most delicate stems. Here, I began with branches, then the largest base flowers followed by taller focal flowers, and finally delicate stems, grasses and wispy greens.

Stuck with broken, leftover blooms from creating your floral bowl arrangements? Don’t discard those flowers just yet! Simply arrange leftover blooms and a few ornamental grasses onto a cake to elevate any tablescape. Even though the blooms are arranged out of water, they will look fresh for hours (especially when using roses and carnations). Enjoy!

Growing herbs is incredibly easy and can be done in a variety of ways—from a container in a window, to a planter box in the yard. With a container or garden full of fresh herbs, you will be ready to take your cocktails up a notch.
Basil is a bright herb that is easy to grow and perfect for cocktails. Make sure to harvest immediately before mixing drinks and take leaves from the top to ensure a continual harvest. Fresh muddled basil leaves lend a crispness to the Gin Basil Cucumber cocktail.
Sage is easy to grow and does well in containers. The leaves add an earthy freshness to a refreshing cherry-infused Bourbon.
Mint is also easy to grow, but give it lots of room, as it likes to spread out and is virtually indestructible in the garden. Mint is a versatile herb but is especially lovely in the Rhubarb Mint Mojito.
Try recreating these refreshing cocktails with herbs grown at home and take your cocktail game to new heights!
