WITH EACH SEASON WE GET TO RESET AND START ANEW. For most, we signify this by switching our clothes to fit the weather ... although that is proving to be more difficult with Ohio’s unpredictable weather. In this issue, we share ways to show your style through your home, fashion and actions. When you binge-watch HGTV, you’ve likely seen countless homes packed with the latest trends and designs that dreams are made of. Fortunately, we have Closets by Design right here in Cincinnati to help local homeowners bring their luxury dream closet into reality. Take a look at one of their recent projects featuring his-and-her closets for the homeowners and even a specialized closet for their daughter. Whether you are looking to add new touches to your home decor or new pieces to your wardrobe, look no further than Interiors Plus in Mason. SOMETHING LOST WHEN IT COMES TO A PERSONAL TOUCH. You’re on your own! However, if you’re in the market for a stylish new look for yourself or your home in the MasonDeerfield area and are yearning for convenience and added care, look no further than Interiors Plus. “We pride ourselves for providing helpful, honest service to our customers whether they are here for clothing, interiors or gifts,” says owner Helen Wright. “We often get to know our customer’s personal style in their homes and can translate that to clothing as well.” Interiors Plus has carried clothing in its store for about six years now, and Helen sees a natural connection between home decor and style trends. “Once you see an animal print in fashion, it will also come back for interiors,” Helen says. Clothing items change out every season, and they typically have a girls’ night to preview new styles and decorative items. The next girls’ night is on Sept. 5 from 5-8 p.m. They will also have one in early November to highlight winter fashion, plus Christmas decor and gifts. Our model, Bonnie Collins, was styled by Helen and is showcasing clothing and jewelry items available at Interiors Plus. Bonnie is a graphic designer and Mason resident who also runs the foundation Live Like Maya. The foundation is inspired by Bonnie’s daughter, Maya, who succumbed to the effects of her treatments for leukemia in 2017. They are committed to funding pediatric cancer research, providing financial assistance to families of children battling cancer and continuing Maya’s legacy of fostering kindness and goodwill within the community. But in [the Murphys’] case, we didn’t have to do that.”
Lori’s closet is white and elegant, while Erik’s is dark and masculine with art deco touches. Mekenzie’s is pink with a vintage Vogue look. “I’ve wanted a pink closet since I was a little kid, and now I have it!” Mekenzie says. Mekenzie picked the colors and the fabric for the seat in her

“Bob helped with a lot of finishing details that made a big difference. All around it was a great experience,” Erik says. The design process for these unique closets took about 30 days with all the customization requested. Working with the building contractor, the total build from design to finish was 45 days. However, a typical design process is one to two days with installation usually within two to four weeks. “Once they got to installation, the team from Closets by Design was always good about coming and going on schedule, and within the window that they promised,” Lori says. “That is something that can be so helpful when you’re getting work done in your home.” According to Bob, 100% customer satisfaction is his motto. “Once it’s set and done, I want the customer to be 100% happy: happy with the look, with the functionality and happy that they did business with us,” Bob says. “There’s a lot of follow-up after the sale and after you do the design. I was at the Murphys’ multiple times because I had to see that it was looking right, and to fix any problems that might arise.” It’s also a good idea to ask about the experience of the person who is doing your closet design, especially if it’s complex or different than the norm. Bob has more than 40 years of design experience and has been with Closets by Design for more than 11 years.

Beyond the personalized service, they also have the largest in-house production facility in the greater Cincinnati area with all modern equipment and the most designers of any company serving the area. In addition, Closets by Design has the largest area showroom with products on display from basic closet designs to the more elaborate. They provide one-stop shopping for any room in your home needing more functional storage solutions. “It’s a team effort over at Closets by Design,” Bob says. “Our installation crews are not subcontractors; they’re in-house people. We carry million-dollar liability insurance and workers comp. We are in charge of the whole job, which means that nobody is passing the buck.” Closets by Design specializes in custom garages, home offices, entertainment centers, laundry rooms and more. “Anything the customer needs, we can design, manufacture and install,” Bob says. To find the design solution for the closet of your dreams, visit the showroom, browse online or call for an appointment and get paired with the right designer for your project. FASHION WITH A PASSION THE OHIO VALLEY VOICES LOVVE AMPLIFIED FASHION SHOW RAISES FUNDS TO HELP DEAF CHILDREN LEARN TO SPEAK
KEEPING ITS CHILDREN SMILING, LISTENING AND SPEAKING AND ITS DOORS OPEN IS THE ULTIMATE GOAL OF THE OHIO VALLEY VOICES (OVV) FOURTH ANNUAL FASHION WITH A PASSION FUNDRAISING EVENT. Held at Manor House in Mason on Thursday, Sept. 19, from 4-9 p.m., this fundraiser offers the community a fun and educational opportunity to give back to a unique school helping deaf children realize their full potential. Anne Neuville, development and event coordinator, describes the importance of OVV’s mission. “Opportunities for the deaf have changed tremendously. It used to be only sign language was available, but only 1% of the world signs. Now with cochlear implants and schools like OVV, children can hear sounds and learn to listen and speak.” Teaching deaf children to speak requires not only hard work but is also very expensive partly due to the intense one-to-three teacher-student ratio. The school’s philosophy, determined by Founder and Executive Director Maria Sentelik, is that money should never be a hindrance to any child’s potential being achieved. “No one is ever turned away for lack of money. We will always find the money, somehow, some way,” Maria says. Tickets to the event are $65 and include the fashion show, “dinner by the bite” prepared by Manor House, a silent mobile auction, a live auction and a 15-vendor shopping boutique offering a variety of clothing and accessories for purchase. VIP tickets for $100 include VIP check-in, premier seating for the fashion show, a complimentary drink and a swag bag. 28

You can’t see what you don’t know. Let me give you an example. I attended a lecture at Fort Ancient on the Ice Age glaciers of Ohio. Geologist Todd Stephenson, a Kings High School graduate, singled out a giant boulder in the back yard of Rock School (Rt. 123 near I-71). Why is an enormous rock sitting in the middle of an otherwise rock-free space? It took someone like Todd for me to see that the rock has been there for at least 10,000 years. The rock rode from northeastern Canada within an Ice Age glacier and was left behind as the glacier receded. In November, my associate, Dr. Brianna Webb and I will be attending the Facially Generated Treatment Planning workshop at the Spear Center in Scottsdale, AZ. Dr. Webb graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine in May. Why take a recent graduate back to school so soon?

Choosing Insurance is Hard. I Can Help!
How many times have you looked at someone’s smile and it just looks wrong? You may not be able to pin-point exactly what the problems are but your eyes tell you something isn’t right. Believe it or not, the same thing happens to dentists with basic dental school training. You can’t see what you don’t know!
Medicare Enrollment Begins 10/15 Health Insurance Enrollment Begins 11/1
I’m taking Dr. Webb out to Scottsdale because I know her eyes will be opened to new realities that will positively impact her treatment planning decisions for the remainder of her dental career. I’m looking forward to a review of the material myself.
When you’re in the dental office you deserve eyes on your health, function and appearance that are empowered by an education that never ends.
