exciting location that it will call its final home. Yes, it’s that exciting! This whole month has us jittery with emotion surrounding all things LOVE. As we build upon the love, we are inspired by the story of long time Loveland residents and doctors in the community, at Implant and General Dentistry of Northern Colorado. They are committed to providing excellent care for their patients. Then we will give you an insiders view on being your best self with Elite Body & Med Spa. They offer services that hone in on self-care and ways in which you can show your skin some love during this special season.

They had originally hoped for it to be placed downtown, but limited space proved to be problematic for the large-scale heart. Instead, they decided to place it next to Lake Loveland, which Mindy accurately describes as “one of our greatest jewels.” The lake and the mountains will serve as the stunning backdrop for photographs as people symbolically lock their love forever. sculptor behind both of the Love Lock sculptures with the help of Beatty Construction Services and Loveland Ready Mix Concrete. Doug and his wife, Sheila, are both longtime Loveland residents, where they raised both of their sons. Doug is the founder and principal of KL&A, Inc., a regional structural engineering and steel construction firm. He is heavily involved and active in community organizations and nonprofits. His love and commitment to Loveland runs deep. Doug worked closely with Cindy and Mindy to design a structurally sound sculpture that would be an aesthetically beautiful addition to the Loveland Landscape. The idea behind the newest sculpture was for it to be an interactive experience. “We wanted to create a piece that people could enter, that they could pose with and propose under,” Mindy explains. At over 12 feet tall and 14 feet wide, they have truly created something incredible and unique that visitors and locals will cherish forever. While there are no plans at this time to add any more sculptures to the collection, next year will be the 75th anniversary of the Valentine Re-mailing program, and Cindy and Mindy promise that they are going to make the event special. 14

With it being the largest organ of the body, it makes sense that it often needs the most care. This innovative technology incorporates short radio frequency (SRF) to improve the health of your skin. Scarlet SRF can be used anywhere on the body for a wide range of dermal concerns. This service provides brilliant results for scar reduction, skin discoloration, hyperpigmentation and wrinkles, all while lifting and tightening the skin. This service can be done on any skin type. Over the years the skin takes on a lot of environmental and hormonal elements. This treatment is incredibly beneficial for surgical or acne scars, stretch marks, sun damage and aging. There is no radiation involved with this treatment and it is safe to use for all ages. “My 16-year-old son suffers from acne, and his scarring was becoming increasingly pronounced on his cheeks, forehead and chin. I hated to see him suffer from low self-esteem. After he received the Scarlett SRF treatment and using some of the products they offer specifically for acne, his scarring was significantly reduced. He has completely regained his motivation, he’s so happy now.” - Angela Elite Body & Med Spa carries a wide-range of Obagi skincare products to compliment their skin treatments for outstanding results. This pain-free option has no recovery time, so you can go about your day immediately after the session. "My experience with Elite Body & Med Spa and their BTL Vanquish Me treatment has been transforming. I have struggled to lose my belly since having my two beautiful children. No matter what I tried, I had stubborn fat that I could not get rid of until I completed four treatments of BTL Vanquish Me. Now, combined with diet and regular exercise, I am able to both feel and see the difference. The stomach fat that has been so stubborn is finally going away and my self-confidence has improved significantly. In addition, Jena and Dee made the experience very comfortable. Each treatment was completed on my lunch break so it made it very easy to keep my regular schedule. I did not experience any downtime and was able to visit the gym the very same day. I am so pleased with my results and this much needed transformation.” -Kristin “Our mission at Elite Body & Med Spa is to provide the highest quality medical aesthetic services in a comfortable, relaxing environment. ARTIST’S PALETTE
CELEBRATING THE ARTISTS OF LOVELAND & SOUTH
BEN AND CHARLOTTE ZINK: METAL ART After twenty years in Berthoud, Charlotte Zink has yet to take the Colorado landscape for granted. She graduated in 1987 from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a BA in Studio Art and Art Education. She and her husband, Ben, moved to the east coast briefly before deciding to come back to Colorado and raise their children. She decided then to take some time off from teaching to become a full-time artist and mother. Her children are now grown and Charlotte spends most of her time outdoors creating small worlds out of metal. Her inspiration comes from her interactions with nature. She chooses to not use photos, but rather to pull from the present moment. Part of her artistic process is in considering the landscapes where her art will be displayed, whether in gardens or other exterior installments. She typically works in steel, an expensive and unforgiving material that takes quite a bit of preparation. After she draws the images, Ben cuts them out. The metal that remains after is then used as inspiration for future pieces to insure the least amount of waste. While there are more precise options, Charlotte has her husband use a plasma cutter. Charlotte has this to say of the collaborative effort, “I offer a fluid, feminine sense of design and form to the metal, and Ben works as our solid fabricator and engineer.” As a resident of the area before the boom, she finds it exciting to be living here now amidst the growth, and is grateful for the support of the art-loving ARTICLE ALEXANDRA RAMBO, CHRISTA SHIVELY

JESSE TALLENT: THE TALLENT COMPANY
The Tallent Company, a local marketing and design firm, did not have to search far for their name. Colorado-born husband and wife team, Jesse and Amy Tallent, moved to the Northern Colorado area while in college. While their business focuses on creativity and media, they both initially started their careers in Fire Service, Amy as a Public Information Officer, and Jesse as a Firefighter in Fort Lupton. Eventually, what began as design work on the side, blossomed into a business dedicated to helping local businesses and non-profits get off the ground. This was a major gap that they noticed in the local marketing industry. Amy, a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, and Johnstown’s first female councilwoman in twenty years, handles the communication and strategy side, while Jesse is the creative force behind the brand. Jesse says that being a small business that focuses on small businesses means that they have had to diversify their own portfolios in order to grow with the community. Sometimes a business just needs a social media nudge and sometimes it involves a full education on designing a brand. Jesse seems to have found his niche though, which he credits to his own experience of how hard it is to maintain a business, and having knowledge of the services that can alleviate the marketing burden. Jesse also loves the traditional mediums, preferring to sketch in pencil and to paint, before digitizing. Plus, he’s never forgotten about his fire-service past. The company does lots of work with fire stations for t-shirts, stickers, and other items aimed at local engagement. In his opinion though, the most rewarding part of his work is when his kids say, “Look! There’s your sign!”

IT IS NO SECRET THAT MAKING ART CAN BE BENEFICIAL TO YOUR HEALTH. Many studies have been conducted to examine the relationship between creativity and the overall health benefits that come from creating and observing art. Art relieves stress, boosts self-esteem, improves mood and memory, and is widely used to alleviate the symptoms of some chronic health issues, not to mention it’s just fun. Pablo Picasso once said, “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” So if you are feeling like you need a little nourishment for the soul, we have just the recipe. WHAT IS THE STORY BEHIND IGDNC? As a local family dental practice, IGDNC is committed to providing excellent care for their patients. In 1985, Dr. Ted Mioduski, Jr. began practicing dentistry in Loveland. He was one of the first dentists in Colorado to be a diplomate in the International Congress of Oral Implantology. Dr. Nicole Ferrara, who graduated from Thompson Valley High School, worked at IGDNC as a dental assistant before going on to dental school herself. Dr. Nicole rejoined the practice in 2001. Dr. Theo Mioduski III, is Dr. Ted’s son and a graduate of Loveland High School. While growing up around his Dad’s practice, Theo’s interest to follow the same path was cultivated. Dr. Theo joined the practice in 2008. All three doctors attended the Indiana University School of Dentistry. Dr. Ted completed his General Practice Residency (GPR) at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver. Drs. Nicole and Theo completed their GPR at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Medical Center. A small percentage of dental stu-

DO YOU HAVE
MGD?
IF your eyes get red, seem to water excessively, feel scratchy or your vision fluctuates you probably do!
Most people diagnosed with Dry Eye actually have symptoms caused by MGD. Meibomain gland dysfunction is one of the underlying causes of dry eye. The tear glands in the eyelids become blocked and the surface of the eye is left exposed to the dry Colorado air.
Niche provides a wide range of Interior Design Services, as well as Project Management, Restyling, Unique Furniture & Decor’, and so much more. We work with local tradesman. Mention this ad and receive

LOVELAND’S NEWEST HOTSPOT BLACK & BLUES MUSIC & BREWS OFFERS A TRULY UNIQUE EXPERIENCE
BLACK & BLUES MUSIC & BREWS IS THE COOLEST NEW HOTSPOT IN LOVELAND. Located at 423 N. Cleveland Avenue in Loveland, this place is a must-see for musicians and music lovers. The building houses an intimate venue for live shows, a full bar with signature cocktails, and a shop that sells hard-to-find gear and instruments. The vision began when Stephanie DeBlase and her boyfriend, Christopher Kellner were tired of driving long distances to find gear. Stephanie met Angie Gonzales and her husband, Fabian Gonzales, through work and approached Angie about doing some photography for the new business. After talking about the idea, Angie and Fabian wanted to get involved. The four collaborated to create the ultimate place for music enthusiasts, where live music and drinks meet a boutique music shop offering specialty, high quality equipment. The intimate listening room hosts all-ages shows and 100% of the cover goes directly to the bands that play. The taproom is not like a normal bar, as they only carry local beers. There is also a selection of liquor and wine. Their signature drinks are inspired by band names and song titles, like Muddy Waters and Ring of Fire. One thing that the four owners want to clarify is that they are not strictly a “blues joint.” They love all kinds of music, Stephanie explains, “we seek out the absolute best in everything.” ARTICLE CHRISTA SHIVELY | PHOTOGRAPHY FLOURISH BRANDING PHOTOGRAPHY/ANGIE GONZALES 32

The boutique carries a selection of guitars and other equipment that cannot be found locally. “Everything that we carry we sought out. What we have is not something you are going to walk into a chain store and be able to take off the wall. Stephanie says. The four partners created what they wanted to see in the community, believing that they were not the only ones who were looking for a place like this. February 2020 | Loveland & South Lifestyle
