As we fight this health pandemic, government leaders have had to make unprecedented and tough decisions, not knowing when we will see the peak of this vicious virus. I pray as we strive to protect our most vulnerable citizens, that everyone respects their neighbor by doing what medical experts and governing leaders are requesting us all to do to protect us individually and as a society. The City of Brentwood staff and my fellow City Commissioners decided it was best to close the John P. support local! LET’S TAKE CARE OF EACH OTHER. OUR LOCAL BUSINESSES NEED US MORE THAN EVER.
WHEN YOU PERSONALLY KNOW THE PEOPLE BEHIND THE BUSINESS WHERE YOU’RE BUYING LOCAL PRODUCTS AND SERVICES, YOU ENJOY A CONNECTION YOU WOULD NOT OTHERWISE HAVE. Along with the rest of the community, you celebrate when a favorite local business succeeds and you mourn when it’s forced to shut its doors. When you purchase at locally owned businesses rather than nationally owned, more money is kept in the community because locally-owned businesses often purchase from other local businesses, service providers and farms. Purchasing local helps grow other businesses. With Covid-19 our local businesses need us more than ever. Support these incredible women and businesses. They need you and we need them more than ever!

ALI MILLER
ALI MILLER PHOTOGRAPHY alimillerphotography@gmail.com alimillerphotography.com I fell in love at an early age with how humans interact with one another; their passions, what makes their eyes light up, the things that make them ecstatic or nostalgic. What I am trying to say is; people fascinate me. It wasn't until my grandfather handed me a clunky old digital camera at the age of 9 that I figured it out. I started to realize how incredible it felt to capture people's habits, tendencies, loves and dislikes, and freeze them in time. Photography is one of those hobbies that is frustrating-- I can't tell you how many times I would get home from a day of taking photos with my friends and realize half of their head was chopped off in Every. Single. Photo. So. I practiced. A LOT. With the help of beautiful friends over the years, patient parents who don't ask questions when I ask if I can borrow a blow torch for a photoshoot. I moved to Nashville the summer of 2018 with the intent of pursuing my passion of photographing people in a new place, quickly rediscovering my love of providing people with memories and moments that they could keep with them forever.
GABRIELLE DODSON REALTOR 615.519.6130 gabrielledodson.com I have had a love of real estate since I was a child. I watched my parents buy and sell homes throughout my childhood and was always interested in the process. After working in sales and obtaining my MBA I went on to pursue my real estate license. I love everything about houses and real estate! It’s a pleasure helping clients find their dream homes, sell their current homes, and help investors in building their portfolios! I am a predominantly referral based agent and have grown my business through the years almost solely based on referrals of past clients. I know the Nashville market extremely well and that knowledge allows my clients to place their trust in me! I have been told that I make the buying, selling, and investing process seamless and stress free as possible and that is truly my goal with each and every transaction!
This is a time in the world where everything is extremely unknown. I am, however, filled with gratitude that my ability to capture your little moments remains. It would be an honor to capture the events of your life, I cannot wait for those moments to come!

BETH STROMATT OWNER OF EAT THE FROG 615.431.3764 frog.etffitness.com/brentwood-ps-ga/ Who am I and why did I choose Eat the Frog Fitness? I have lived in Nashville for 25 years, 16 in Williamson County. I really don’t think I could live without a view of the Tennessee hills. I met my husband here and have three teenage children. Keeping active has always been easy, but finding a fitness program has not. I am not a trainer or coach and have struggled through the years to find a program that worked for me, and kept me interested and engaged. I would try various classes, most of them were very big groups with no personal instruction and no accountability...... so eventually I would lose interest. I spent over two years looking at all kinds of businesses but the right choice just didn’t materialize. A mutual friend brought me the concept of Eat The Frog. I found out it is from a Mark Twain quote about getting the thing that is most difficult over with making the rest of your day easier..... Fitness was my Frog. Eat The Frog Fitness combines personal trainers with small group fitness so there is accountability and guidance. Our sessions include Cardio, Agility, and Strength which are prescribed to our members after a fit assessment with our trainers. Eat The Frog offers flexibility for our members schedules with 24/7 access to the studio including both trainer led and virtual sessions. Eat The Frog Brentwood is the 33rd studio in the brand and first in Tennessee with plans for 12 studios across the state.

Our family has lived in the Williamson County area for approximately 30 years and we have been through the sometimes unpleasant experience of buying and selling a home on three occasions. On our first two moves we used an experienced, reputable realtor well known in Williamson County. When we decided to relocate closer to our children’s elementary school we contacted our realtor and put our home on the market. In a relatively hot market, we had absolutely no success in selling our home. After months of inactivity we took the house off the market and resigned ourselves to staying where we were. Fortunately, all of that changed when we met Gabrielle. After getting to know her on a personal level she asked if she could take a look at the house and offer some advice. We were so impressed with her professionalism, her attitude and her ideas that we hired her to relist the house for us. Almost immediately, her ideas took shape and we began experiencing significant interest. Gabrielle is a real go-getter. She is well-connected and introduced us to experienced, professional vendors who helped us market our home. Gabrielle is extraordinarily pleasant to work with and always has your best interest at heart. She is very engaged in marketing a home. As a result of her hard work we were able to sell the home for the price we were looking for. She then worked equally hard to find us a new home that we are thrilled with. When I look back on it, I realize that had we not switched realtors we would never have sold our home. We are so grateful to her and now consider her a friend. MELISSA SCHLEICHER SUCCESS IN SHADES AND STYLES CELEBRITY HAIR STYLIST SHOWS ENTREPRENEURS, FEMALE BUSINESS OWNERS TO LIVE DREAMS
THE TALE OF A PRETTY CHEERLEADER THAT DROPPED OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL, GOT PREGNANT, MARRIED AT 19, AND HAD HER FIRST, AND ONLY CHILD AT 20 ISN’T JUST AN IDEA FOR A COUNTRY SONG. What makes this story unique is the success of entrepreneur and celebrity hairstylist Melissa Schleicher. This petite and bubbly blonde with a personality larger than her hair is Nashville born and bred. She had a typical middle-income childhood growing up. As a child she would practice cutting and styling hair on her Barbie dolls. “I knew at an early age what I wanted in life, so I decided to enroll in beauty school without my high school diploma, said Melissa. My parents didn’t even know I had quit attending school for a while.” “For many years, I was embarrassed that I didn’t complete high school. It was my daughter Hunter, who provided the encouragement I needed to come clean,” said Melissa. “Mom, it’s your story, and you’re a huge success, so tell it,” was her daughter’s advice. Like any young person beginning a career, Melissa took whatever work came her way, which tended to be more colors than cuts. “I hated coloring hair at first.” confessed Melissa. “But that was how you made good money.” Her determination started paying dividends. “When I received my first full paycheck, the amount was more than my dad was making for the same period. My dream was taking shape.” CUTS & COLOR WERE ONLY THE BEGINNING Melissa’s initial success only motivated her to explore new opportunities. She met Melanie Shelley, an experienced hair and makeup artist for several Country Music stars such as Leigh Ann Womack, The Dixie Chicks, and Alan Jackson.

FIOR BESPOKE Fior Bespoke Transitions From Custom Suits to Protective Masks Aaron McGill has spent practically all of his 38 years as an expert tailor and custom clothing craftsman. What he didn’t anticipate is he would be making more face masks than suits and shirts in the first quarter of 2020. A budding entrepreneur, Aaron began sewing with his mother Cynthia when he was four-years-old. Through hard work and a vision to deliver expertly crafted custom clothing, Aaron has established himself with area clothing enthusiasts. But when Aaron’s business came to an abrupt halt because of coronavirus shutdowns, he thought sewing protective face masks was a way to keep his 11 employees on the payroll. “I went online and called multiple vendors to secure enough elastic and filter material to make face masks,” Aaron told Brentwood Lifestyle. “We’re able to produce about 250 masks each day at a flat rate of $6 each.” To help cover costs, Aaron asked for and received donations and has raised in excess of $15,000. Their first shipment of 150 masks went to a nursing home facility in Western Kentucky. Another 30 were delivered to the Virginia area and others when given to area hospitals such as St. Thomas, Vanderbilt, and Skyline Medical. With additional donations, Aaron is confident he and his team can make a significant impact, especially now that the CDC has recommended some people use protective masks when they venture into public areas. To donate, visit onlyonetailoring.square.site and follow the instructions.

the interstate and see beautiful buffalo grazing. Being the animal lover that I am, this is a pretty ideal place for me. The way people love my husband, his music, our family, it’s an amazing feeling. I feel at home, and there’s a sense of peace here that I’ve never had in any other city I’ve lived in. We are currently building our forever home here, a project we’ve been working on for two and a half years. Nothing makes me happier knowing my babies are being raised in this amazing place. YOU’RE SO ACTIVE WITH YOUR INSTAGRAM FOLLOWERS. DO YOU FIND IT TIME-CONSUMING? DO YOU EVER GET THE URGE TO QUIT? It is a part-time job, no doubt. People are very interested in our life, what our babies are doing, which city we are in. It’s fun to document our lives and share them with fans but there is also a dark side to it all. I have had the urge to remove myself from it multiple times. It is a platform for people to bully and say things that are harmful and

disrespectful. I have no energy for that. I’ve found that blocking people and deleting the negativity has been the most effective method. My page will always remain a positive, happy place where rudeness is not welcome. Oh how I love our fans, though! They have our backs on and off social media, and I am forever grateful for their support. WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE FOR YOUR CAREER TO TAKE YOU? I just want to continue to grow, as a person, as a brand, as a helper. If I can help my family, friends and people in need, I’m good. It is a blessing to be in a position where I don’t need to work but choose to do so. Not only for my personal independence and freedom, but for others. Having my own career makes me happy, truly happy. I need to have my own and to be creative, so I hope that opportunities continue to come my way. The sky is the limit, and I will always have the desire to grow and evolve, on a business and personal level.

philanthropy, strengthening mother-daughter relationships, cultural experiences and leadership opportunities. This will be the only time where women can become founding members. Besides making history, Lori asserts there are other major perks to volunteering. “You spend time with your daughter during crucial formative teenage years, your daughter will have substantive leadership roles and activities to place on her college application. And, research has shown Photo by Jason Morales
that volunteering boosts your immune system and your life span with people experiencing more overall joy,” she explains. At press time, Lori says their current membership count was 66 Ticktockers (daughters) and 57 Patronesses (mothers), for a total of 123 members. In addition to national philanthropic initiatives, the chapter’s inaugural members chose the following six local philanthropies to serve: + The Store + TN Alliance For Kids (TAK) + Ronald McDonald House + Project Cure + 50 Forward + Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Lori says the members hope to serve the Greater Nashville philanthropies “with heart, graciousness and hard work,” and to add more nonprofits to their service list each year. She says the group is also about integrity and relationships that encourage the mother-daughter relationship, foster and build friendships between the moms and between the Ticktocker classes, while serving together as Greater Nashville members. Students may attend public and private schools, or be homeschoolers. “Lastly, we grow trustworthy friendships with our local philanthropies,” she adds. This chapter is part of creating a national annual $68 million philanthropic impact through 279 chapters in 29 states through 200,000 active members, sustainers and alumnae. Lori says there are three, experiential ways in which NCL is different from other service organizations. 1. They serve as mother/daughter teams. 2. They empower daughters to become leaders through officer positions and their six-year, core Ticktocker program. 3. They facilitate cultural experiences to broaden minds and to encourage a passion for the arts. Note: With this unprecedented social distancing, the NCL Greater Nashville Chapter is most likely delaying their in-person planned chapter-wide Kick-Off on May 3. “Although we aren’t sure what the future holds, we will either do a virtual kick-off and begin volunteering when the CDC gives the green light. Or we may delay our big kick-off until August, right before school,” Lori says. “Lots of decisions are still up in the air as the road map to get to our destination has changed. And, women love to meet in-person, to hug, and have fellowship; it creates a buzz and excitement. So, I would say that it’s trickier at this time in history than most to launch a new NCL chapter in Tennessee. With that said, this group of women is up for the challenge, and while the map looks different, we just need to take a different route to get there.” CityLifestyle.com/Brentwood

LOCAL’S CHOICE LEARN HOW TO USE ENTIRE WARDROBE ALL YEAR LONG
ARTICLE ASHLEY HUTCHESON
NOT A SPRING FLING SPRING IS ONE OF THOSE TIMES OF YEAR WHERE YOU WANT NEW ITEMS IN YOUR CLOSET. The list of events, parties, trips and fun must-dos are seemingly endless. While it’s fun to emerge from the winter weather and add some pop to your wardrobe, it can be overwhelming. Enter Carson Love. She’s a wardrobe and personal stylist whose goal is to help both genders present and feel like their best selves so they’re ready for whatever life brings them. She customizes the process with each client to create “closet clarity” and newfound confidence. When she’s not working one-on-one with clients, she also styles photo shoots and will happily present to organizations or clubs. Here are three, everyday events styled by Carson using items already in most closets.
