What our clients are saying.

Delivering Your Lifestyle Dreams Over the past 30 years my wife and I have used the services of numerous real estate agents as we bought and sold homes across the country as my work required us to move often. Without a doubt, Paula has been the absolute best. She has been totally involved and committed to helping us sell our home at every step of the process. Her knowledge of the local market was invaluable in helping right price the home and her negotiation skills helped us sign a contract at a price we could accept. Additionally, her guidance and assistance in preparing the house was instrumental in obtaining the best possible price. We couldn't be happier with Paula and wholeheartedly recommend her.

LOCAL’S CHOICE WE CAN ALL AGREE THAT PLANNING A WEDDING IS NO EASY TASK. While planning their own weddings, Alicia Lane and Kristen Cumiskey discovered that something was missing from the wedding vendors in St. Johns County — professional bar service — arguably the most important part of the wedding! In 2014, Alicia and Kristen took the leap to become business owners to help fill in that gap. Fastforward to today and these co-owners have grown The Perfect Pour to serve all of Northeast Florida, with over 200 events just last year. Whether hosting a wedding, birthday parties, or charity event, The Perfect Pour has you covered. Fully licensed and insured, their team provides a full bar setup at any venue including bar necessities from glassware to garnish. Did we mention they also have the best bartenders and waitstaff in Northeast Florida? In addition to traditional bar services, The Perfect Pour can provide mixology classes hosted by one of their own lead bartenders for those looking to develop their own skills while having a fun night with family and friends. Reach out to ThePerfectPourfl.com for your custom quote, you won’t be disappointed. Their mission is simple – relax and enjoy your event, let The Perfect Pour take care of the rest. LOWER YOUR CARBON FOOTPRINT

HOW YOUR LOCAL LIFESTYLE CAN HAVE A POSITIVE GLOBAL IMPACT

ARTICLE CHRISSY DAS

“GOING GREEN” DOES NOT HAVE TO MEAN GIVING UP A FUN AND ACTIVE LIFESTYLE. St. Augustine is a beautiful city with a rich variety of things to do; if you can reduce your carbon footprint while doing what you enjoy, it’s a win-win. When is the last time you got your bicycle out of the garage? Seeing the city from a bike is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Anastasia Island has some great bike trails where you can create new memories with friends and family as you visit areas you may have missed driving around. Don’t have your own bike? Rent one from St. Augustine Bike Rentals, Island Life Shop, or Solano Cycle. There are ways to reduce your carbon footprint beyond leaving your car at home. Consider things like your family’s energy use, consumable items like household products, food and clothing. Where can you make some simple improvements?

28

Saint Augustine Lifestyle | April 2020

5 TIPS FOR SIMPLE IMPROVEMENTS

1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Drive your car less. If you have to commute for work, plan some errands to run after so you can stay in on the weekend and relax at home. Purchase vintage clothing and accessories. Visit one St. Augustine’s thrift shops like Fifi’s Fine Resale Apparel or Christe Blue to update your wardrobe. Make intentional purchases. Buy items with simpler packaging (or no packaging) and bring home less waste. Many families use the one in-one out rule when purchasing household items. Use your garden to create a natural oasis. St. Johns Seed Library provides packets of seeds each month at no cost to its members. Join at your local library branch. Know your family’s estimated carbon footprint and make the best choices for your family. Visit www.nature.org/greenliving/ carboncalculator for more information.

PLAN A FUN FAMILY EVENT Challenge your family to reduce what they purchase, use and toss. Make it a game to see which family member can plan a fun family event with materials on hand. It’s amazing what you can find leftover in your hall closet. PRIORITIZE WHAT YOUR FAMILY LOVES If your family loves movie night, save the money (and accumulated trash) from a regular Friday night at the movies and plan a night at home. Stream a new release and pop some bulk popcorn instead of using individual bags; each family member can add their favorite seasonings. ENJOY NEW EXPERIENCES TOGETHER Florida is great for trying new outdoor projects. Whether you end up building a tree house with reclaimed lumber or adding to your existing garden in the backyard, your family is bound to make some amazing memories.

And, depending on which kind of IRA you choose, you can defer taxes on money going in now or have tax free withdrawal of the money coming out later if Roth rules are met.
