Fort Collins Lifestyle | December 2019
Punta Mita is not to be confused with Punta de Mita, which is the small, nearby Mexican community on the point of the “Riviera”. Punta Mita (known as ‘the Riviera Nayarit’s best address) is where tourists and the very rich (think celebs like the Kardashians, Arab sheiks and Silicon Valley CEOs) seek luxurious hotels, private courses, spas, restaurants and pampering. The W Escape (first in Latin America,) opened in late 2016, is in Punta de Mita, but is just as posh as the Four Seasons and St. Regis in Punta Mita—with much more whimsy and playfulness.
S TAY (C O N T.) From the moment one enters the property, the color scheme is a sensory experience. Citrine green, hot pink, bright yellow, brilliant turquoise—the W celebrates the colors of Mexico. Stylish, trendy, hip, full of indigenous folk art, the W succeeds in being a truly unique property which entices its guests to indulge in “fun” activities they might not have done in years, if ever. I never thought I’d be riding a scooter around a swimming pool, but hey, it was just sitting there on the 700-tile mosaic “Sunway,” adorned with Huichol Indian designs and beckoning to my “inner child.” For a vacation like no other, reserve the aptly named “Wow Suite.” But all of the 118 other rooms and suites are fabulous, adorned with touches of Frida Kahlo, Pancho Villa, Emiliano Zapata and others wildly mixed with surfboards, skateboards and other modern-day icons. Nayarit, while just the 10th smallest of Mexico’s 31 states, has the most ex-pats from the U.S. and Canada, and elsewhere, and it’s no wonder. With its border just 10 minutes north of the Puerto Vallarta airport, Nayarit boasts a spectacularly beautiful coastline (nicknamed the Riviera Nayarit) stretching 190 miles across 23 distinct communities. In just 10 years of being promoted as a tourism destination, the Riviera Nayarit has become a worldwide phenomenon, attracting tourists to its luxurious and exclusive hotels and resorts, its spectacular beaches, colonial and pre-colonial history, indigenous traditions, acclaimed bird and whale watching, sea turtle camps and its many adventure activities.
E AT Cuisine in Nayarit is world-renowned. Don’t leave without trying “aguachile de camarones” (fresh shrimp cooked in lime and chile), pescado sarandeado (grilled garlic and chile-seasoned fish filets), or a chilled Cielo Rojo (spicy Clamato tomato juice mixed with lager beer and lime). Many high-caliber boutique hotels, resorts and small eco-retreats throughout the Riviera Nayarit cater to those who expect the utmost in service, cuisine and accommodations. Indeed, the region has become famed for its discreet visits by famed celebrities and politicians, who enjoy first-class amenities such as butlers, private chefs en suite, expansive private terraces and gorgeous infinity pools. ‘TIS THE SEASON FOR FOOD AND FAMILY BRINGING LOCAL FLAVORS AND LUXURY DINNING
THE CACHE RESTAURANT INSIDE GINGER & BAKER IS AN EMBLEM OF FINE DINING. Magnificent interiors, spectacular dishes and the friendliest staff one could imagine. When we think luxury dining, we often think of gold dust, foie gras and other delicacies but in recent times, the fine luxury-dining sector is turning its attention to another type of kitchen. Vast with ingredients that follow the natural seasonal cycles, the star chefs have undertaken research that constantly brings them into contact with topics such as ethics and sustainability, most ingredients are even from Ginger’s own garden, giving life to new ambitious cooking projects. In these photos, The Cache’s Chef George Gastl and Sous Chef Logan Mason take you on a journey through the trends and temples of contemporary luxury dining that enriches our bellies and our community.

son of overindulgence is upon us; we’re offered Christmas cookies at every turn, invited to parties with limitless amounts of dessert, and seem to have endless occasions to eat cookie after cake after pie. Sticking to our health intentions can definitely we’ve been trying so hard to be “good,” it’s easy to feel guilty after giving in to the happy hour appetizers or indulging in a few (or more) freshly baked cookies that a neighbor brought over. practice s el f-k i n d n e s s and compassion When we feel guilty about what we ate, holding onto that guilt only creates more anxiety and worry. Overeating around the holidays is a wonderful time to practice kindness and compassion. Typically, we jump right into self-criticism. We berate ourselves, call ourselves a failure, and badmouth our inability to have any willpower. What if we turned to kindness instead? We can get curious about why we were overeating in the first place. We can tune in to see if we’re emotionally eating, turning to food during overwhelming times, or using food to deal with stress. When we turn guilt into compassion, it allows us to not only explore why we were overeating, but gives us some grace to make mistakes, learn, and get back on track!

Skin care Tips for Winter Weather
1
Stay hydrated. This is always a foundational element of skin care, but is especially true in these winter months. Focus on consuming 1.6-2
liters of water each day. Eating foods that are high in water content can also provide beneficial outcomes.
4
Moisturize multiple times a day. This is true for both women and men. Look for moisturizers that contain green-tea polyphenols or wild yam
extract. At night, consider a heavier moisturizer so your skin can drink it in while you sleep.
2
Humidify your air. Don’t forget to turn on your whole house humidifier (if you have one). If you don’t, invest in a good humidifier for your dwelling.
Furnaces and heating systems exasperate issues with dryness in the winter. Counteract that with pumping some good moisture in
