HEALTHY LIFESTYLE SERVITE GRADUATE JAKE OVERMAN STARTS THE FALL SEASON PLAYING TIGHT END FOR OREGON STATE UNIVERSITY.
WHO SAYS DREAMS DON’T COME TRUE? Since he was in the sixth grade, Servite’s Jake Overman has dreamed of playing Division I college football. Congratulations are in order for Jake since
Committed to Studies and Athletics
the Servite graduate has accepted a scholarship to play tight end for the Division I Oregon State University (OSU) Beavers this upcoming season. Jake started playing rugby, basketball, and baseball when he was seven years old. When his baseball coach, Joe Florentine, suggested that he play football, Jake found his sport. According to Jake, “I knew when I first put on my pads and helmet that I wanted to be a football player. The other sports were fun, but I really love football.”
Jake's back squat has climbed to well over 400 lbs working with his trainer and The Factory Performance team.

Jake warms up with heavy ropes that are whipped, waved, or slammed to enhance cardiovascular and muscular endurance. Jake’s workout with two-inch battle ropes are up to 53 pounds each for 2 minutes, or four sets of 20 single-arm quick slams.

Although Jake’s maximum bench press is already a whopping 325 lbs, one of his main goals this off-season was to improve his upper body pressing power. He is doing this by performing a heavy incline dumbbell press on a flat bench.

FINANCIAL BUZZ
SPENDING, SAVING, INVESTING AND DEBT ARE ESSENTIAL CONCEPTS TO BEGIN EDUCATING CHILDREN ABOUT MONEY IN THE REAL WORLD.

THIS YEAR MANY FAMILIES ARE FACED WITH

CHALLENGES AND ECONOMIC ANXIETY. Our early experiences with money set the template for how we approach work, spending, debt, and our ideas about wealth. The way a family chooses to respond to their unique challenges will impact children the most and endure for a lifetime. The financial climate in your home has a lot to do with how money was dealt with as a child. Did your parents speak to you with fear and anxiety about lack of money, or was there a positive outlook leveraged as an opportunity for growth and development? Our circumstances provide a real-life framework for our children’s financial literacy, to include children in discussions about saving, earning, investing, and debt. Do your children act like money grows on trees? If they see you effortlessly pulling out a credit card for every purchase or they play

child’s appointment for the pediatrician, make sure to schedule one for their teeth as well! WHEN SHOULD I CONSIDER AN ORTHODONTIC CHECK-UP? American Academy of Orthodontics recommends children receive an orthodontic check-up no later than age seven. Even if your child’s teeth appear straight, the dentist may be able to identify any development problems or modifications in growth patterns while the baby teeth are still present. In some cases, they may determine that your child will benefit from early treatment preventing more serious problems from arising in the future. Every child is different in their growth, development, and treatment needs. Going in for an orthodontic checkup at an early age gives your child the best opportunity for a great smile. Blessed Smile is a comprehensive family dentistry with four convenient locations in Yorba Linda, Diamond Bar, Lake Forest, and Mission Viejo. Each location has added more health and safety screenings this year to make Blessed Smile Dentistry the highest standard in dental health care. GROOMER EXTRAORDINAIRE FURRY FRIENDS PET GROOMING GIVES PETS A RELAXING EXPERIENCE, AND FOR SOME PET PARENTS, A UNIQUELY CREATIVE ONE.
ARTICLE KRISTEN FEWEL
CHRISTINE TROVATO IS NOT YOUR TYPICAL PET GROOMER. The owner of Furry Friends and her team are award-winning Certified Pet Aestheticians specializing in both art and science who care for pets with severe skin conditions, and are well known for their unusually colorful creations that turn pets into playful works of art! Her staff regularly attend trade shows and compete in grooming competitions all around the US in breed classes and creative competitions “to raise the level of care for our clients’ pets,” says Chris. For pet owners regular grooming means less pet hair on the floor and nails that don’t scratch, but it means the world to your pet to be groomed in a sensory-sensitive environment. “Our Tranquility room is for pets who need more quiet, and natural air dryers with no heat elements. We want pets to be relaxed and enjoy their grooming as much as possible,” says Chris. To learn more about how Furry Friends Pet Spa will accommodate your furry friend, call them at 714-693-9220, or visit their salon at 18292 Imperial Hwy, Yorba Linda in the Yorba Station.
