Here’s what our clients are saying...

I worked with Eric both selling and buying a home this year. I was able to sell my home within a few days, despite difficult market conditions, and at a fair market price. Eric helped me find a great property and negotiated an excellent deal on a foreclosure, which can be notoriously difficult to negotiate. He also helped me find a good mortgage officer, which further reduced the total cost of purchasing the home. I have worked with Eric in the past and would happily recommend his firm to anyone looking to buy or sell in the North Atlanta area.— Matt P., Johns Creek GA

WHERE'S JOHN? The Milton Historical Society needs your help! It is nearly impossible to locate an image of the City's namesake, John Milton, Revolutionary War hero and Georgia's first Secretary of State. in the U.S. with 25.6 million participants. “Baseball is a great team game where you don’t have to be hyper-athletic to be a good player . In addition, it’s an opportunity to learn skills that can be applied as they grow into young adults, like dealing with failure (the best hitters are successful 3/10 times at bat),” said Ryan Spak who has been coaching 11U Ocee Orioles Travel Baseball team for five years. Here in Johns Creek, at Ocee Park, boys and girls have been playing baseball all summer. Julio Canales and Ryan Spak coach boys ages 5 - 11, with practices and scrimmages at Ocee and tournaments throughout the Metro Atlanta area. calls, and we put together a workout tracker on a Google Sheet so the kids could stay accountable and work on their fitness and skills,” says Spak. “In addition, kids are aware of the state of the world, so they are spreading out when in the dugout, using hand sanitizer between innings, washing their hands when available, among other things. Most tournaments have specific COVID guidelines for players and their families to adhere to, such as tipping their hats to the opponents rather than a post game handshake.” Canales adds, “There is no physical contact except during game play when it’s required to make a play.” Both coaches encourage the players to hydrate throughout the week, rotate who sits on the bench, limit catchers to a few innings at a time, and are careful not to over schedule practices and games. “Typically we finish playing in early June, so this year has been different in that aspect,” says Spak. Still, the kids have found a way to get the most of their summer game. “Baseball teaches a lot of life skills, discipline, focus, strategy, teamwork, respect and so many other attributes that translate to life lessons and skills. The bonus is that it’s just a really fun sport to play,” says Canales. 20

DOG’S DAY AT NEWTOWN DREAM DOG PARK OUR PHOTOGRAPHER CHRISTY LEE CAPTURED OUR NEIGHBORHOOD DOGS ONE SUNNY AFTERNOON. ARTICLE JOHNS CREEK LIFESTYLE STAFF PHOTOGRAPHY CHRISTY LEE

LUCKY US! Newtown Dream Dog Park, one of the top dog parks in the country, is located inside Newtown Park toward the front entrance. It is a fenced one-acre area featuring artificial turf, sprinklers for dogs to play in, obstacles to play on, plus water fountains for people and pets. It offers separate areas for large and small dogs, along with benches, shelters, and shade trees.

Sadie Davis

Our friends at the American Kennel Club reminds us that as a general rule, adult dogs need about one ounce of water per pound of body weight per day. But growing puppies, despite their smaller size, drink more than their adult counterparts. A lot depends, however, on your puppy’s age, size, and activity level. Very young pups fulfill their hydration needs from their mother’s milk. As they are being weaned and starting to eat solid food, they will need a fresh supply of water.

Ella Gravanda and her number one human

Generally, young puppies need about onehalf cup of water every two hours. You’ll want to monitor your puppy to make sure he’s drinking enough . . . and not too much. Our photographer Christy Lee and her daughter spent the afternoon playing with Johns Creek’s pups at the park and we are proud to share these portraits of our new four-legged friends. Angie Smith 32

DIY

+HANDCRAFTED+

FUN PAPER CRAFT ACTIVITY FOR YOU + YOUR KIDDO ARTICLE NICOLETTE MARTIN

M AT E R I A L S + Cardboard + White crepe paper + Construction paper + Glue + Scissors + Beads, yarn, pom poms, etc.

DIRECTIONS 1. Take your cardboard and cut two pieces into the shape of a llama (we found a stencil online). Then, cut strips of cardboard the depth you want your llama to be. You’ll connect these to either side of the llama cutouts to enclose your piñata. 2. Glue your strip of cardboard all along the edge of one side of your llama, then glue to the other side. (Be sure to leave a hole you can close up later so you can fill it with your favorite candy!)

PIÑLLAMA

3. Starting at the neck, cover the front, back and sides of your llama with white crepe paper, cutting a slit every half inch or so to create the traditional piñata look. 4. Cover all remaining sides the neck and head with white construction paper, cut to fit your design. 5. Using construction paper, beads, pom poms, tassels, buttons, etc., add some flair to the rest of your llama! Bonus points for incorporating different shapes and textures into your final product.
