THE GIRL FROM WIDOW HILLS BY MEGAN MIRANDA As a young girl, Arden Maynor was safely found days after sleepwalking away from home. The infamy of the story overshadows her life until she relocates and changes her name. Now, the twentieth anniversary of her rescue is approaching and she’s sleepwalking again. One night she awakens in her yard, with a body at her feet— the corpse of a man she knew in her previous life as Arden Maynor. HOME BEFORE DARK BY RILEY SAGER Twenty-five years after her family fled Baneberry Hall in the middle of the night, Maggie Holt inherits the sprawling estate. Skeptical and too young to remember her time in the house, Maggie is determined to simply restore and sell the home. As she pursues her project, she begins to believe her father’s stories—and what she uncovers is more terrifying than any haunting. ALICE KNOTT BY BLAKE BUTLER After several pieces of artwork are stolen from Alice Knott’s vault, a video emerges of one painting’s detailed destruction. As the video goes viral and copycat artwork destructions increase, all eyes are on the formerly reclusive heiress. Atlanta author, Blake Butler uses Alice’s introspective monologues to deliver a layered novel analyzing art’s meaning, legacy, and value. THE AMERICAN ADRENALINE NARRATIVE BY KRISTIN J. JACOBSON With the Summer Olympics postponed, you can get your adrenaline rush from this collection of narratives focused on the rise of heightened-risk, “extreme” sports within a natural setting. Perfect for lovers of Krakauer’s “Into Thin Air” or Cheryl Strayed’s “Wild”. STRANGER IN THE LAKE BY KIMBERLY BELLE Atlanta author Kimberly Belle is back with a riveting new domestic thriller that will have you thinking twice about what lies beneath the surface of your favorite lake. When Charlotte married wealthy widower Paul there was local gossip, but now a body has washed up under their dock—in the exact same spot where Paul’s first wife tragically drowned. What first seems like a horrific coincidence quickly becomes a matter of life and death when Charlotte discovers the woman in the lake is not a stranger. THE CHICKEN SISTERS BY KJ DELL’ANTONIA The century spanning feud between the Moores and the Pogociellos is about to be settled once and for all on the reality television restaurant competition, Food Wars. While the two teams each try to prove that they make the best fried chicken in the state, family secrets will be exposed and sibling bonds will be put to the test. Explore the power of good food while you try to figure out which restaurant (and family) will win: Chicken Mimi’s or Chicken Frannie’s? More at IvoryOwlReviews.Blogspot.com 14

Green is my favorite color simply because
it comes in so many different hues. This light aloe tone is a perfect summer green and flattering for most skin tones. At first glance, this looks like a jumpsuit, but it’s actually a two-piece outfit. Perfect for a night out on a patio or rooftop cocktails. Tips for Keeping Your Teeth Healthy While at Home From
Dr. Vargas Don’t go to sleep without brushing your teeth
DRIVING THROUGH THE ROLLING 100ACRES OF ANCIENT PECAN ORCHARDS, PONDS AND THICKETS AT SANDY CREEK SPORTING GROUNDS TOWARD THE SANDY CREEK BARN, I FELT THE PULL OF OUTDOOR ADVENTURE. We awoke in the lap of luxury at the National Club Cottages, Reynolds Lake Oconee, 75 miles east of Atlanta, and had an early breakfast at Eighty8 Kitchen before meeting up with Justin Jones, the architect and general manager Sandy Creek. Jones welcomed us with a wide southern smile and a British lilt that immediately put us at ease. We were in good hands. “We have designed a traditional, yet innovative, sporting ground, similar to one you would find in Britain, that offers a superior day of sport for any outdoor enthusiast. The course is for everyone from novice to expert levels, for men, women, and children,” Jones says who brings decades of experience in shooting competition, instruction, management and course design to the Georgia sporting clay club. Each of 20 thoughtfully positioned stations accommodates up to five shooters who watch a short instructional video and receive safety equipment, including hearing and eye protection and vests. You should brush your teeth at least twice a day, it gets rid of the germs and plaque that accumulate throughout the day, and it allows you to have fresh breath in the morning.
Brush properly It takes two minutes to do a good job. All the plaque can harden, leading to calculus buildup underneath the gum causing periodontal disease.
Brush your tongue and make sure to floss Helps prevent against bad mouth odor because you can build plaque and germs.
Use a fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash Fluoride is a defense against decay. It also provides a protective barrier for your teeth.
Drink more water and limit sugary and acidic foods Drinking water after every meal can help wash out some of the negative effects in between brushes. Sugar converts into acid in the mouth, which can then erode the enamel of your teeth.
Keep in contact with your dentist We are here as part of the healthcare community. Your mouth is the gateway to your body, regular check-ups and a healthy mouth will lessen the impact of other health issues that you may incur.

instructor (in our case, Justin himself) who escorted us through course via an off-road, all-terrain buggy. “If a guest isn’t a shooter, no problem. There is an endless list of exciting and peaceful activities, including fishing, kayaking and canoeing, and hiking,” says Jones. The newest addition to the menu is the Land Rover Discovery driving course that carves a path through the rolling terrain and forested thickets that define the Georgia countryside. Upon arrival at the Sporting Grounds, an experienced guide seats you in a seven-seater

explains the instruments. Although the same vehicle is sold commercially, even Jones was blown away at its dexterity. “The four-wheel-drive system—along with the overall design of the course—creates an experience where you’ll feel challenged, but always safe and in control of the vehicle.” The guide is always in the passenger seat, but you’re behind the wheel. If your idea of an adrenaline rush is teeing off the back tees, staring down a narrow par four fairway rimmed by glistening Lake Oconee, towering Georgia oaks and a bevy of bunkers, you can chose from five championship courses at The Ritz-Carlton Lake Oconee. Stay in a room, suite or cottage and dine at one of the five restaurants or have a chef prepare a meal and wine tasting just for you on your balcony or around a chiminea as the sun goes down at the end of your adventurous day. CULINARY CREATIONS
I DEVELOPED THIS RECIPE FOR AN OUTDOOR PARTY HOSTED IN HONOR OF MICHELLE DELACROIX, THE OFFICIAL ARTIST FOR THE 1996 OLYMPICS. It was part of a Paris to Provence menu. I wanted to be able to serve shrimp, but it is typically not very attractive when it starts to get warm and ‘fishy.’ The acid killed all the surface bacteria which kept it very fresh and appealing! It really did not even need any sauce. It could be served ice cold and be perfectly refreshing and delicious……effortlessly. I like this shrimp with just a sprinkle of sea salt icy cold.
Summer Citrus Shrimp INGREDIENTS + 1 pound deveined peeled cooked shrimp + 2 cups pasteurized orange juice
DIRECTIONS Marinate the shrimp in the orange juice in a bowl in the refrigerator for up to 8 hours; do not marinate for more than 8 hours or the shrimp will be tough. The acids in the juice helps to sterilize the surface and the sweetness is wonderful. Drain and discard the juice. Serves 4.
