A city person is so much more than just a resident of the city. City people shop at local markets and know their neighbors by name. City people ride their bikes (or scooters) to work and enjoy walking to dinner, no matter the weather. City people love their neighborhoods and are regulars at more than one spot nearby. City people take advantage of everything city life has to offer, connecting with their community and exploring at every opportunity.

Date Night Looks ALLISON BERGER SHARES HER FAVORITE FASHION PICKS ARTICLE RICHA MITCHELL VALENTINE’S DAY HAS ARRIVED AND IT’S TIME TO FIND THAT PERFECT DATE NIGHT OUTFIT THAT IS SURE TO IMPRESS. Local fashion designer Allison Berger shares a few of her romantic designs that will leave a lasting impression. ABOUT ALLISON BERGER: Allison Berger launched her namesake collection, Allison Nicole Designs, in spring 2017, but her love for sewing and design sparked at a very young age as she saw all the beautiful creations her grandmother made. She received her first sewing machine at the age of 12, and after that, Allison immediately knew that she wanted to pursue a career in the fashion industry. Allison Nicole creates gowns and custom designs that are classic with a touch of youthful whimsy suitable for all special occasions. WHAT INSPIRES ALLISON: Allison displayed a passion for design at the early age of 8. Design show, Project Runway, further fueled her creativity. As Allison grew, so did her passion for art and construction. She found pleasure in transforming her sketches and two-dimensional patterns into tangible clothing. ALLISON NICOLE DESIGNS: Inspired by the female figure, soft and flowing fabrics and florals, Allison Nicole Designs creates ethereal gowns and custom pieces for every woman and every occasion. Visit https://www.allisonnicoledesigns.com/ to shop the collection.

4. CAN YOU SHARE A SUCCESS STORY? I have helped couples see eye to eye, children connect with their parents and individuals especially, but not exclusively, women reconnect with themselves and heal from challenges from growing up and affecting their relationships, worthiness, and careers as well as other aspects of their lives. 5. WHERE TO SIGN UP IF READERS WOULD LIKE TO VOLUNTEER. Therapists and some community artists may volunteer by filling out a general contact form https://www.violethiveart.org/say-hello 6. IS ART AS HEALING THE SAME AS ART THERAPY? Art as healing is often confused with Art Therapy, and although art as healing and art therapy are very similar sometimes in their outcomes or the way the process is designed, art therapy ethically must be done with a master level practitioner often board certified involving confidentiality and therapeutic relationship, whereas art as healing is an individual/non-therapist facilitating an art creation process. However, both use art to support a healing process and can be one-on-one or in a group. 22

BENEFITS EMOTIONAL RELEASE: When using art, individuals have more access to their subconscious content through developing and accessing their mind-body connection.

PROMOTE INSIGHT: Through this honest, open, and nurturing relationship clients are able to work toward connecting to the things they want most in life.

STRESS RELIEF: Fighting anxiety, depression or emotional trauma can be very stressful for you both mentally and physically. Creating art can be used to relieve stress and relax your mind and body.

FOSTER SELF ESTEEM: The connection to self is often restored so healing on a deeper level bypasses the individual’s defenses.

old WE’RE SHARING TIPS, TRICKS + UNIQUE WAYS TO INCORPORATE YOUR ANTIQUE ITEMS INTO YOUR HOME

ANTIQUES ARE MAKING A COMEBACK. Whether you’re an antique aficionada, a thrifty thrifter or new to the whole concept of vintage revival; whether it’s a hand-me-down, a thrift-store-find or just something cool you stumbled upon at an estate sale; endless opportunities exist to effortlessly incorporate retro, vintage, antique or whatever-you-want-to-call-them items into different parts of your modern home.

WHAT IT IS Antique Chest STYLE IT Coffee Table PRO TIP Revive solid-wood pieces with little actual value by refinishing the wood to your liking.

Don’t be afraid to do something different, and don’t take things too seriously. If the piece you’re working with doesn’t have any real value, you have so many options to liven it up, including paint, finish and hardware.

Make your piece multi-purpose by turning the lid into a game table or by storing your cocktail accessories inside for an easy-access mini bar!

Spread the vintage love. Use antiques strategically and as accent pieces to keep your overall aesthetic from coming off as too dated.

Create the most impact by displaying (not hiding!) items that carry the best stories or sentimental value. We love the use of incorporating these smaller figurines as bookends and paperweights.

SET HEARTS RACING WITH THIS SIMPLE YET ELEGANT CHICKEN DISH THAT FEATURES BOLD FLAVORS AND A MILD SPICE KICK. All you need are 8 delicious ingredients (many you can find in your pantry) and a hot grill to make this mouth-watering grilled chicken dish that is sure to delight. Take out the red chili flakes if you like your chicken on the mild side, or add more flakes if you like it hot!

grilled chicken with a kick I n g r e d i e n ts + 1 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice + 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme + 1/2 teaspoon dried red-pepper flakes + 1 clove garlic, minced + 1/4 cup olive oil + 1/4 teaspoon salt + 1/4 teaspoon fresh-ground black pepper + 4 bone-in chicken breasts (about 2 1/4 pounds in all)

Method 01 Light the grill or heat the broiler. In a shallow dish, combine lemon juice with the thyme, red-pepper flakes, garlic, oil, salt, and black pepper. Add more red-pepper flakes for an increased spice level. Coat the chicken with the mixture. Let chicken marinate for 30 minutes. 02 Grill the chicken breasts over moderately high heat or broil them for 8 to 10 minutes. Turn and cook until the chicken is just done, about 10 minutes longer. CHEF TIP: Swap bone in chicken breasts for boneless. Cook boneless breasts for 5 minutes on each side.
