Plan The Pool of Your Dreams Now FALL AND WINTER CAN BE BEST TIMES TO START PLANNING YOUR SUMMER OASIS
ARTICLE HEIDE BRANDES | PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED
ANOTHER SUMMER HAS COME AND GONE WITHOUT YOU HAVING THAT DREAM POOL BUILT. Sadly, oftentimes we don’t think about planning the perfect backyard pool until summer, when we really want to take a swim. As the cooler weather moves in, taking this time to plan out and build a pool just makes sense. Not only will you have plenty of time to discuss with a builder how to make your dream pool happen, you’ll have months to get ready for it. “The fall and winter months are a great time to get your pool built. The weather can play a factor in our time frame, however, it’s nice to have the yard torn up when you wouldn’t really be using it anyway.,” said Jami Baker of Aquascape Pools.
Off-months are perfect times to construct your backyard swimming pool.

Many Custody Cases Being Complicated by Some Schools Not Reopening
August is almost always a tough month for parties going through divorce or custody disputes. In many cases, parties have trouble agreeing on where the children will go to school. The parties might also have trouble agreeing on who is going to pay the cost of private school if the children do not go to public school. Prior to school beginning in August, many parties, unfortunately, end up in court on motions to modify or motions for contempt as it relates to these kinds of school issues. The litigation often involves where the children will go to school and who will be paying. Many custody schedules have it setup where custody exchange revolve around the beginning and ending of school days. In other words, many parents drop off the children at school. The other parent then often picks up the kids after school is over. With COVID-19, many school districts will not be opening up this Fall in a traditional sense. Instead, many school districts are going to be opening virtually. By opening virtually, many parents will now have to co-parent as it relates to homeschooling their kids through an online program. Many school districts are making this decision due to safety reasons. With the spread of COVID-19, many
school districts are concerned that students and teachers can quickly spread the virus. In some cases, the parties will now end up having more face-to-face encounters where they are exchanging the children because it cannot take place at school. Custody exchanges can be a source of dispute. One party could be late for an exchange. Sometimes, somebody does not show up. In other cases, parties might engage in verbal discourse that is not productive. As it relates to virtual schooling, one parent may have a concern that the other parent is not equipped or capable of handling virtual schooling during their custody time. Some parents might also be unable to do virtual schooling because they have to work. It might be that the children have to go with the other parent or the parties might need a tutor or childcare to assist with schooling. In other situations, one party might wish to send the children to a private school that is going to be open versus leaving them in the public school, which will not be open. In some cases, parties might be able to agree. In other cases, they may not. For many parties, they might consider engaging in mediation or collaborative law to attempt to resolve these disputes. For others, they may end up having to file a motion to modify to change the existing custody schedule because no agreement can be reached. COVID-19 has been challenging on many levels. But the impact on custody cases with many schools not reopening is, unfortunately, going to be seen for many in-
volved in the family court. Go to the “dark side” with this design that requires matte black paint, white paint, some metallic paint (for an out-ofthis-world vibe) and some newspapers. Be careful—this one could get messy!
+
Leave your stems natural or cover with metallic paint if desired. Then, coat your mini pumpkins in matte black paint— be sure to cover everything!
+
You can leave some matte black, but for an extra touch, lay out newspaper and splatter your white paint onto some of your black pumpkins. Bonus—as long as you catch it before it dries, any paint should be easily removed with some warm water.

Halloween 2020 Ideas 5 WAYS TO CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN DURING THIS SPOOKY YEAR
ARTICLE HEIDE BRANDES PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED

THE
REST
OF
THIS
YEAR,
HALLOWEEN MAY LOOK A LITTLE DIFFERENT IN 2020. Big Samhain parties, hordes of children rallying around candy bowls and costume contests may not be as popular as the world still wants a little distance from crowds. That doesn’t mean you can’t celebrate Halloween at home! Here are five ways to put a little spooky into your (adjusted) Halloween plans.
1. HOST AN ONLINE COSTUME CONTEST Use your favorite meetings app or software and invite your friends and family to dress in their best for a contest. 2. MAKE TRICK OR TREATING A GAME We're going to steal a great idea from the Easter Bunny! Instead of having your kids go door to door for candy, hide the treats around your house ala' Easter Egg style. That way, the young ghosts and goblins can still dress up and still score that Halloween candy. 3. CAMPFIRE CREEPIES Revive the old tradition of telling ghost stories around the campfire in your own backyard. Fire up that firepit or set up some tiki torches, get those s'mores ready and share your spookiest ghost stories with the family! 4. HOST A SPOOKY MOVIE MARATHON From true spine-tinglers to kid-friendly tales, plenty of movies can get your family into the Halloween spirit. Toss some candy corn in your popcorn and get ready for spooky stories! 5. DRIVE-BY TRICK OR TREATING Get the neighbors together to start a car parade to gently throw candy at costumed kids in their yards. Kids get to dress up (AND GET ALL THE CANDY) while practicing social distancing. 34
