With cooler weather and school back in session, it feels as though fall brings a delightful wash of tranquility to Northern Colorado. Fall is also the most fun season for fashion. With the heat of summer behind us, we are finally able to style ourselves with layers, texture and my favorite, boots! Before moving to Colorado, my involvement in New York Fashion week was always on the sidelines—and there was no denying that in its long and prominent history, the fashion industry represented only one standard of beauty. That is why, in this issue we champion style for everyone and every body. Fashion should bring us all together, no matter our age, gender or size. We all want to look and feel our best, and with so many incredible boutiques in Fort Collins, we can do just that. Thanks to the efforts of each boutique's curator and founder to

AROUND TOWN
THE COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY MEN'S ICE HOCKEY ALUMNI GOLF TOURNAMENT The Colorado State University Men’s Division 1 hockey team is a nonprofit organization and relies heavily on the financial support of sponsors and local community members. It is imperative that the Rams develop solid partnerships and corporate relationships in the Fort Collins and surrounding area. With rising costs of operating an ACHA hockey team, the Rams and their volunteers work to provide the players with the highest quality of equipment, travel and lodging on the road and financial assistance to help compete at the collegiate level. This year’s CSU hockey alumni golf tournament is being held Saturday, Sept. 21, at Collindale Golf Course in Fort Collins. We invite you to bring a foursome for a fun day of golf.
SAVA SOIREE Join us for an evening of great raffle prizes, gourmet dinner, auctions and complimentary cocktails! It's an opportunity to celebrate SAVA’s success in sustaining sexual assault victim services and prevention in Northern Colorado with more than 800 fellow community members. SAVA provides comprehensive support to more than 1,100 survivors of sexual assault and their loved ones in Larimer and Weld Counties each year. Your support will make a difference in your community by helping SAVA provide much-needed services for thousands of men, women and children. For more information, visit SavaCenter.org/Soiree.
GINGER AND BAKER'S PIE BINGO SEPT. 18 Join us in the Teaching Kitchen the third Wednesday of every month for three rounds of piethemed bingo. You’re sure to have a fabulous time with friends, new and old, and even have the chance to win some fabulous Ginger and Baker prizes. This is a free event, but your RSVP is required. Food and drink will be available for purchase during the event. Guests will receive two bingo cards upon arrival. RSVP for this event will open Sept. 1.

CELEBRATING 50 YEARS OF COMMUNITY DEDICATION ORTHOPAEDIC AND SPINE CENTER OF THE ROCKIES
WHEN A COMMUNIT Y STAPLE LIKE ORTHOPAEDIC AND SPINE CENTER OF THE ROCKIES HITS IT 'S CENTENNIAL, IT 'S A TESTAMENT NOT ONLY TO THE SERVICES THEY PROVIDE BUT TO THE LOVE AND DEDICATION THEY HAVE FOR THE PEOPLE THEY SERVE. Founded in 1969, OCR, formally named Fort Collins Orthopedic Associates, was founded by Drs. Charles Collopy, Robert Johnson, Benedict Magsamen and Douglas Murray. The four physicians had come to Fort Collins separately in the 1960s, and after a few years in practice, they formed a partnership that would build the foundation for OCR. The doctors were among the first orthopedic specialists in the region and helped pioneer the development of that patient-care specialty. They have 30 specialists providing care across three medical campuses: Fort Collins, Loveland and Greeley. The Orthopaedic and Spine Center of the Rockies provides specialists in the medicine of motion right in our beautiful backyard. Their founders not only led the development of the orthopedic center and specialty services for patients, but they also contributed to the enhancement of medical care for the region and started what would be a long-lasting partnership with Colorado State University. These pioneers found themselves caring for players in training rooms and on the sidelines—rooting for the green and gold. 12

Through 50 years and counting of partner-

ships with CSU and the community at large, OCR's current sports medicine team is made up of four medical experts: Tom Anderson, DO, sports medicine; Stephen Yemm, MD, sports medicine, Alissa Wicklund, Ph.D., sports concussion neuropsychology; Rocci Trumper, MD, knee specialists and sports medicine; and Sean Grey, MD, shoulder specialist and sports medicine. Combining the founding principles and OCR's new team, we spent a day on the field with CSU alumni and quarterback Mark Driscoll (1971-1975) who's been a patient of Orthopaedic and Spine Center of the Rockies since 1973 when Mark dislocated his shoulder on the field. Since then, he and his family have had nine surgeries at OCR. "The health and well-being of their student-athletes is the biggest priority and makes the partnership with OCR their most important
relationship,"
explains
Joe
Parker, director of athletics at Colorado State University. The care and expertise Orthopaedic and Spine Center of the Rockies is committed to providing our community with makes us even more excited for the next 50 years.

FOR THE FASHION-FORWARD, FALL IS AN OPPORTUNITY TO STEP OUR STYLE. The cooler temperatures allow for more layering without sweating right through your threads, allowing
MEN'S FALL FASHION
us to tailor our looks for a more personal touch. Leather shoes and chunkier sneakers take the stage as our summer shoe arsenal gets a break. Thicker textures and silhouettes play a more important role in adding additional depth and character to otherwise flat outfits. To put it simply, fall is fashion. THERE IS SO MUCH TO DO, SEE AND EXPLORE IN THE AFFORDABLE “DOWN-VALLEY” TOWNS OF CARBONDALE AND GLENWOOD SPRINGS THAT VISITORS MIGHT NOT EVER GET TO “UP-VALLEY” ASPEN! The Roaring Fork Valley, once known as just the outskirts of Aspen, is an exciting and ever-evolving destination. Tourists and locals flock year-round to Glenwood Springs for the world’s largest outdoor Hot Springs Pool. The Sopris Splash Zone consists of Shoshone Chutes, a fast-moving adventure river ride for older kids and adults. For younger children, Hanging Lake is a wade-in, waterfall-fed pool along with the Grand Fountain, a splash pad by day with a seven-foot water spray and an illuminated show fountain by night, reaching 17 feet high with a spectacular colored light display. Just less than four hours from Fort Collins, 45 minutes from Vail and an hour from Aspen, it’s close to half a dozen ski resorts, a wide variety of hotels, inns and restaurants, and a myriad of attractions. Visit the Glenwood Caverns just ten minutes from town, where you’ll see fantastic stalactites and stalagmites and hear a marvelous narrative of the caverns’ past. Adventure Park boasts the country’s first alpine coaster, the Canyon Flyer. There’s also an awe-inspiring bungee jump and various adventures all reachable by gondola. Cyclists will be delighted to take in the 16.2mile Glenwood Canyon Recreation Path along the rushing Colorado River, dotted with thrill-seeking rafters and kayakers and surrounded by magnificent, towering canyon walls. Carbondale sits on the confluence of the Crystal and Roaring Fork Rivers, at the foot of the mighty monolith, Mt. Sopris (12,953). Both the Roaring Fork and Crystal Rivers flow adjacent to downtown Carbondale and offer Gold Medal Water for fly fishing as well as kayaking and stand-up paddle-boarding. Staying at Dandelion Inn, a cozy but sumptuous bed and breakfast, we had complimentary bicycles to use on the Rio Grande Trail and visited the pleasant Wednesday Farmers Market, held until Oct. 25. After your Roaring Fork Valley vacation, if you still have more time to explore, head on up to Snowmass and Aspen, or take in a hike to Maroon Bells, one of Colorado’s most beloved and renowned poster-friendly spots.
