LOCAL LIMELIGHT

A Stylish Little Shop FILLED WITH LOVE AND PURPOSE

TUCKED AWAY NEAR THE ENTRY TO THE GUITAR SANCTUARY IN ADRIATICA VILLAGE IS THE LOVE LIFE BOUTIQUE. It’s a very special place because the founders, Maylee Thomas Fuller and Mayor George Fuller, created it along with a couple of other friends to support women and children who are in at-risk living situations. The shop is chock-full of wonderful item from clothing to jewelry to lots of knickknacks. Oh, and there are hats—many hats. In fact, you will seldom see Maylee without a hat. (George has been known to wear a do-rag while riding a motorcycle.) Come in and browse. It’s not just for the moms or wives of the guitar enthusiasts who might come in to purchase some musical product or take a lesson. You won’t regret the stop. You’re sure to find something you can’t live without, and then you may want to take a look around the Guitar Sanctuary at some of the most beautiful and exotic guitars in the world. But, remember—whatever you buy, or just decide to donate, goes to help someone who may be living in an abusive situation. Meanwhile, get more info at LoveLifeFoundation.com and follow the boutique on Instagram at @LoveLifeStore. The Love Life Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization helping women and children love life.

It’s amazing what pets bring to our lives. I’ve had pets my whole life. I can’t remember ever living without one. Last August the love of my life, Beau, passed away very unexpectedly. Beau was that special soul. I got him when life was confusing and heccc. Mark’s heart had started its final journey and in just a few short years he would have a new one. Beau was always there for me with a huge smile, a wiggly buu or a quiet cuddle. Coming home from work or the hospital I could always count on him to uplii my spirits. He gave the best hugs and kisses you could never forget. He was the most stubborn self aware puppy ever but nothing maaered except he was my best friend. No one in my family could imagine the day I lost him and it was truly one of the worst days of my life. Mark knew the tears had to stop and while Beau couldn’t be replaced he thought a distraccon would be in order. We had recently gooen a boat and wanted a puppy that would love the water. AAer much research we ended up with a Portuguese Water Dog named Oliver. What a special soul he is. You cannot be sad around him. He loves people without que quesson and gives hugs freely. AAer a few months I just could not shake the sadness from my Beau. No maaer how much I loved this sweet puppy he ssll was not my bulldog. Well one Friday it all changed. Moose was loose. This adorable liile bulldog stole my heart. I didn’t care if it meant I would have to start over raising a puppy or have puppies only 5 months apart. My heart was his. My office is now their’ s also. Mortgage can be stressful so we are now a dog friendly office. If you’re out and about stop by to see us and meet the newest members of our team.

WHETHER YOU ARE A GUY LOOKING TO ACHIEVE THE STYLE YOU WANT, ARE SEEKING TO GET THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE IN MALE FACIAL AND HEAD HAIR GROOMING, OR ARE SIMPLY NEEDING A HAIRCUT FROM THE COOLEST NEW BARBERSHOP AROUND, DIESEL BARBERSHOP IS THE PLACE TO GO. Upon walking in, you get the feeling you are in for something special. To the left are arcade games for you to pass the time should you need to while waiting for your stylist. At the reception desk, you will not only receive a friendly greeting, but you’ll also be offered a complimentary drink— water, soda or beer. See the difference already? This truly is a “man cave for great haircuts!” You can’t help but be drawn to the decor, from the red and black garage-style tool stands used for the stylists’ worktables to the many items mounted on the wall and throughout the shop— posters from old movies and great quotes. It’s colorful and well done; your eyes will stay busy all throughout your session. The Harvey Brothers, John, Richard and Edward (often referred to as the Diesel Brothers), recently opened this fantastic shop just west of North Hardin Road on U.S. 380 (University Drive). They are opening a second shop soon on FM 423, just north of Main Street. Both his excitement and pride show when Richard speaks about his franchises. No wonder—the

A LEADER IN THE MCKINNEY MUSIC SCENE

22

McKinney & Prosper Lifestyle | September 2019

IF YOU’VE EVER VENTURED INTO THE GUITAR SANCTUARY, YOU HAVE PROBABLY MET A SOFT-SPOKEN GENTLEMAN BY THE NAME OF SHANE FRAME. He has a storied history in his musical career, and McKinney is indeed blessed to have him in its midst. Shane’s grandfather played the guitar in a group during Shane’s youthful years. His grandparents held dances in their home, pushing furniture aside or outside to accommodate those who wanted to dance. Shane was sometimes relegated to sit outside on a misplaced sofa, but he loved the music that emanated from his grandfather’s guitar. The story goes that Shane used to strum on his grandfather’s guitar when he was not around. The guitar was a symbol of the special connection with his grandfather, and one time, when his grandfather offered to lend his guitar to a friend, Shane finally got the nerve to tell his grandfather what it meant to him and asked him if he would teach him to play. Shane became good enough that between the ages of 16-18, he played with a gospel group out of Houston. Being a high school student, he would fly to Houston on Friday after school, and the group would fly him back after his three gigs over the weekend.
