Restaurants had to shut their dining rooms down and could only offer take-out or delivery of their meals. For the hyper-local restaurants in our city, this was a harsh blow, but citizens reached out to support their favorite eateries in the best way they knew how - by ordering food. Local retail stores began boosting their online sales, and they need as much love as the restaurants and pubs do. Called to Action Turning Wine Into Sanitizer When Covid-19 started making it’s way into Oklahoma, when things really got real, we at Oklahoma Distilling Company paused and took stock of our company, our journey, our existence within the community, and what kind of company we want to be during this crisis. In mid-March we started making Sanitizer for Service Workers, selling some and giving away some with proceeds going directly to out-of-work hospitality workers. Without the critical support of Oklahoma bartenders, bar managers, and hospitality staff throughout our journey as a fairly new business, we wouldn’t still have a business. We’re lucky to be in a position right now where we can truly give back, and thanks to our local partner Downward Dog Wine, which donated a near endless (for us) supply of wine to distill into sanitizer, we have been able to make a real impact! It’s April 9th now and we’ve already raised over $20,000 for hospitality workers. We have been able to create jobs as well, and we’ve just begun. -Oklahoma Distilling Co. Oklahoma Distilling Company is a Tulsa-based distillery that started in 2017. They are the makers of craft spirits such as Indian Grass Vodka, 1907 Whiskey, Stiff Shot Coffee Liqueur, Oklahoma Rose Botanical Gin, and Rose Rock Rum. APMEX HELPS REGIONAL FOOD BANK WITH $250K DONATION DURING PANDEMIC APMEX employees have helped provide food for thousands of vulnerable Oklahomans by donating $250,000 to the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma (RFBO). The donation helped the Regional Food Bank meet its goal of creating a $1 million fund to match other donations to combat hunger during the COVID-19 pandemic. APMEX CEO Ken Lewis said the gift was made in recognition of company employees working tirelessly during this difficult time to serve customers, co-workers and the community. “One of our core values at APMEX is helping our neighbors in need,” Lewis said. “During this global crisis, our employees are proud to turn their energies into supporting our longtime partner, the Regional Food Bank.” Deb Bunting, interim CEO of the Regional Food Bank, said financial support from companies like APMEX is more important now than ever before. To take advantage of APMEX’s matching donations, visit rfbo.org/give or call 405-600-3136. Donations made by texting DISASTER to 501501 will also be matched. The text to give is an automatic $10 donation. Data and text rates may apply.

The Marble classic blue sweater ($112) pairs perfectly with the Liverpool white slip on jeans ($98) and a pair of Charleston Cannon summer wedges ($135).

The Susan Shaw hand-cast gold necklace ($125) adds a golden glitter. The Marianna bracelet is handmade in Israel and comes with a lifetime guarantee. “We are still seeing the boyfriend blazer look, even in summer, where you can pair them with a pair of shorts,” said Krista. “But I love all the color. Color brings so much life, and we need that right now. We all gravitate towards black, but bringing color into your wardrobe brings joy to yourself and others.” Accessories are also hot this summer. The Magnifique hand-painted leather purses from India ($179) also pull in the floral blooms of spring and add zip to any outfit, while the Vendula London leather clutches ($80) in black and white made a timeless statement. LIKE MANY HYPER-LOCAL RESTAURANTS, BELLINI'S FACED CHALLENGES WITH CREATIVITY

IN MARCH AND EARLY APRIL, RESTAURANTS AND FOOD BUSINESSES AROUND THE COUNTRY WERE BEING AFFECTED IN VARIOUS WAYS AS RESTRICTIONS WERE PUT IN PLACE TO HELP CONTROL THE SPREAD OF THE COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS. Like many states and cities, Oklahoma City eateries were told to shutter their dining rooms and offer to-go or delivery options only. Bellini’s Ristorante & Grill, 6305 Waterford Blvd, Suite 100, was one of those local favorites that suddenly had to navigate the uncertainty of dealing with social distancing, the closing of non-essential services and continuing to serve its loyal customers. “One thing we were proud of is that we did not wait until the city decided to close restaurants for dine-in. We were very aware of what was going on around the world in response to the COVID virus and we already had a team meeting with our staff and reduced our labor drastically before being told we had to shut the doors,” said Shawnna Underwood, restaurant manager, in March. “Everyone was willing to take a cut in hours, and we have tried to share resources with our team as best we can during all this. Now we are working hard to at least cover operating costs through take out, curbside and delivery so we can guarantee our team employment after all this blows over.” Taking care of the employees was a major goal

“We have successfully generated a solid curbside, to go and delivery foundation so we are able to bring on two employees each day to work for tips,” Underwood said. “And let me say - our guests have been generous! It is incredible to see the generosity of our community toward our team! We are a small family restaurant so many of our regulars we know personally. We have their phone numbers and email addresses. Every one of them has been by the restaurant for food to go. That community support made all the difference in a tough time. “I feel we are blessed to be part of a smaller sub-community in OKC (Nichols Hills, The Village and Belle Aisle). All of these communities are filled with other small business owners who understand how important this is to us and how important our people are to us,” Underwood said. “We would like to thank them so much. We cannot do this without them. But most importantly, thank you for letting us continue to do what we love most, which is serving them.” Underwood said she hoped their efforts helped people to smile and Tommy is praying for everyone’s health and safety during this time and cannot wait to see everyone in the restaurant dining together again soon!”

Here to Help You Rebuild Your LifeÂŽ

New Encrypted Applications Gaining Prevelance In divorce and family law litigation, text, email and cell phone records are often important. In many cases, parties seek this evidence in discovery when it bears on relevant issues. Text, email and cell phone records can sometimes be relevant as to child custody. For example, it might relate to inappropriate behavior and conduct that could bear on the fitness of a parent. The possibilities can be infinite, but it can show drug and alcohol abuse, inappropriate behavior and activities or time away from the family and children. In states where marital misconduct is a factor, it can also be relevant. In other words, it could provide evidence of affairs. It could also provide evidence of gambling, illicit behavior or even physical or mental abuse. Electronic evidence may also be important as to income and hidden assets. Some parties might, as an example, get their paycheck stubs emailed to them. They also might have receipts and statements emailed to them relative to unknown marital assets or bank or credit card accounts. To get this information, lawyers oftentimes issue requests for production. In other cases, lawyers may issue subpoenas for this information to the other party or third party carriers. A lawyer may also take a deposition or hire a private investigator. An increasing trend now is for parties to use encrypted applications to conceal communications that they do not want others to see. Three common applications are Wickr, Vaporstream and Confide. These applications boast military-grade technology where they assert that the com-

munication is protected. The features vary by application, but the messages often self-destruct after being read and do not have the name of the sender or receiver of a message on the same page. For lawyers, they have to be cognizant that individuals going through divorce or family law matters may be using these applications. For parties going through a divorce or family law matter, or where they reasonably anticipate litigation, an important question is whether they should use these applications. Ultimately, the big risk is that a court might conclude that a party is spoliating relevant evidence by using these applications. If the court concludes that a party is spoliating evidence, that party could be subject to sanctions in the family court. A family court judge might also conclude that a party using these applications has something to hide. Otherwise, why use applications like this? This may mean that the party ends up getting an adverse result as it relates to important components of a divorce or family law matter. Ultimately, anybody going through a divorce or family law matter should speak to a lawyer about their specific situation. However, parties should also probably steer clear from these encrypted applications. While the privacy components may be appealing, and may conceal the exact nature of the communications, the appearance of having something to hide is likely not worth the risk. Nonetheless, encrypted applications are likely to become an increasing trend in divorce and family law litigation. The

popularity, and ease of downloading these applications, is likely to make it an increasing trend. EYES, ETC. As an eye-health medical office, Eyes, Etc. at 6508 N Western Ave, Nichols Hills, was considered an essential business. Terry Furrh knew he would have to keep his office open for customers needing prescription eyeglasses or exams, but he made sure his business was clean as a whistle. He set up a table by the door that included gloves, hand sanitizer, disinfectants and masks for use by the public, and even offered one-on-one appointments. Patients were allowed to pick up frames themselves, which were quickly disinfected right afterward, and the office was deep cleaned and sanitized every weekend. Terry also had a "no-touch" policy in place when inspecting patients.

PRAIRIE WOLF SPIRITS Located in Guthrie, this grassroots distillery made the jump from producing vodka to hand sanitizer in March. Master distiller and co-owner of Prairie Wolf Spirits Erik Tekell was first a biochemist, so he recognized the need to have hand sanitizer available during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Prairie Wolf produced more than 5,000 gallons of hand sanitizer, which they are sold curbside at local restaurants.

TRAVEL DESTINATION (CONTINUED)

IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TOWN OF BARTLESVILLE IS THE ICONIC SKYSCRAPER, “THE TREE THAT ESCAPED THE CROWDED FOREST.” The Price Tower, built for energy mogul H.C. Price in the 1950’s, is not only a Frank Lloyd Wright original but his only realized skyscraper. Frank Lloyd Wright called his masterpiece the “tree that escaped the crowded forest” when built his first and only skyscraper for the H.C. Price International Pipeline Company in 1956. The Price Tower was one of three skyscrapers that were to be built at St. Mark’s in New York City. The building found its way to Bartlesville instead and became a combination apartment-office building. H.C. Price kept his tiny apartments at the top, and thanks to renovations by architect Wendy Evans Joseph, visitors can now stay in this upscale 21-room boutique inn called Inn at Price Tower. For those whose passions lie with clean angles and the mystery of architecture, staying overnight in an actual Frank Lloyd Wright building is a bucket-list item. Upstairs, on the 16th floor, is the Copper Restaurant + Bar, a cozy place to grab a local craft beer or shimmering wine either at the bar or on the patio outside. Today, the Price Tower Arts Center houses art exhibitions and permanent exhibitions on Wright, Bruce Goff and the Price Company and Tower. Frank Lloyd Wright buildings may be seen as uncomfortable by some, but the Price Tower is cozy, if not a bit quirky. The building itself measures 221 feet from the top of the spire and is 19 stories high. The Price Tower is built on a cantilever design with four interior vertical shafts from which all the floors and walls are based around. Every niche, cranny and secret in the building are 30-, 60-, or For information, visit pricetower.org.

90-degree angles, and none of the exterior walls are structural, but are merely screens resting on the horizontal cantilevered floors. Inside the rooms, the walls of windows do not disappoint with their expansive views of the green around Bartlesville The beds are wide and comfortable, and the bathroom, though angled like the rest of Wright’s designs, is interesting enough to forget about the smaller size. The Price Tower is an architectural adventure that you won’t want to miss with sassy interior staircases, history around every corner and the very distinctive touch of Frank Lloyd Wright. Be sure to sign up for the daily tours of the Price Tower for a fascinating, fun and entertaining history lesson about Bartlesville, Wright and the “tree that escaped the crowded forest.”

PACK YOUR SMALL SPACES WITH A BIG PUNCH BY STARTING YOUR OWN CONTAINER GARDEN

IT MAY BE THAT YOU DON’T HAVE MUCH SPACE TO WORK WITH; MAYBE YOU ARE ALWAYS ON-THE-MOVE; OR, MAYBE YOU JUST SIMPLY WANT SOME GREENERY TO ADD A LITTLE BIT OF COLOR TO YOUR SPACE. It doesn’t matter what your reason may be. Container gardening—the practice of growing plants exclusively in containers rather than in the ground—is a great way to pack some punch into a small (or portable!) space.

+

Save some space by building your garden vertically instead of horizontally. If you’re running out of room indoors, try placing your pots on an old bookshelf or baker’s rack.
