LIFESTYLE LETTER
Styling a Good Life I hope this letter finds you inspired and ready to embrace the beauty of self-expression. Style is such an extraordinary part of life—it’s far more than the clothes we wear or the accessories we choose. Style is woven into every detail of our existence, from the way we decorate our homes to the art and music we enjoy, the books we read, and even how we interact with the world around us. It’s the unique thread that creates the tapestry of who we are. What makes style so captivating is its deeply personal nature. It evolves alongside us as we explore new interests, embrace our quirks, and express what we value most. It’s a language without words, a powerful tool for connection that can bridge differences and spark shared understanding. We’re fortunate to have endless opportunities to celebrate and explore style in Highlands Ranch and Lone Tree. Whether it’s through visiting local boutiques, supporting creative entrepreneurs, or simply drawing inspiration from our city’s vibrant culture, there’s so much to ignite your creativity and lift your spirit. This month, I encourage you to think of style as an authentic expression of yourself. The most beautiful style is one that reflects who you truly are—your passions, your story, your individuality. And the incredible thing is that no one else in the world can replicate that. So go ahead, celebrate your unique style. Whether you’re exploring new trends, blending classic elements, or creating something entirely original, let this issue inspire you to embrace the power of self-expression. Here’s to being unapologetically and uniquely you! Cheers!

CRUISING ON THE DISNEY TREASURE
Disney-style adulting on the high seas is an adventure for anyone young at heart. We recently sailed on the brand-new Disney Treasure with friends to celebrate a milestone birthday, sans kids. Some may ask, “Why sail on Disney if you don’t have kids?” Finding your inner princess, prince, super-hero or lovable villain, while appreciating the luxury and comfort your adult self has come to appreciate, is part of what you will discover on the Treasure. It ignites your imagination with numerous character sightings and photo ops, Disney and Marvel-themed restaurants and lounges, Broadway-style shows, a swashbuckling pirate night and so much more. The moment you board the Disney Treasure, the magic begins as the crew greets everyone with smiles, cheers and applause. Once in the Grand Hall, look to the upper balcony, as you are greeted with a wave from Mickey Mouse, Aladdin or another special character. The first day is the best time to explore the entire ship, so wear comfortable shoes as this vessel is massive. The Disney Treasure carries up to 4,000 passengers, excluding the crew. The Treasure features 15 passenger decks, 10 of which have staterooms. The whimsical décor, efficient use of space and dual bathroom layouts keenly differentiate the Treasure’s staterooms when compared to other luxury cruise ships. CONTINUED >

All Disney cruises offer rotational dining at each of their themed restaurants. We enjoyed experiencing each of the Treasure’s themed restaurants: 1923, World of Marvel and Plaza de Coco. You never have to worry about making reservations when dining at these assigned restaurants. Simply select an early or late dining option when you book your cruise. The menus and shows are different every night, even if you visit the same restaurant more than once. The Treasure also offers two adult-only restaurants (Palo Steakhouse or Enchanté). Both require reservations in advance. We thoroughly enjoyed Palo’s exquisite menu on the evening of our friends’ birthday celebration. The chocolate soufflé is legendary. The Disney Treasure offers spectacular shows in the Walt Disney Theater every evening. We especially enjoyed their production of “The Tale of Moana.” After the shows, there are plenty of activities to enjoy around the ship, including trivia, live music, karaoke and more. We enjoyed exploring all the adult lounges, especially our favorite, The Haunted Mansion Parlor. If you’re a fan of the Haunted Mansion attraction in the theme parks, you’ll love this lounge with spooky libations. The portraits on the walls come to life and familiar apparitions appear in the bar mirror. Other lounges include Periscope Pub, Sarabi, Scat Cat Lounge, Skipper Society, Triton Lounge, and Cove Café, each with a distinct theme, music, menu, and vibe. The pool area is impressive for all ages and equipped with a larger-than-life movie screen, where you can relax and enjoy a Disney movie any time of day or night. If you’re in the mood for a thrill, the Disney Treasure’s water slide, the AquaMouse, spans the length of the pool deck. The pool areas are staffed with lifeguards and offer a variety of food and snack options, including adult beverages. While we enjoyed the main pool area and AquaMouse, it was nice to retreat to the more tranquil adult-only pool area, hot tub and spa to truly unwind. Even though we were adulting on this cruise, the kids’ clubs are still worth checking out the day you board the ship. My inner Princess Leia was fascinated by the Star Wars Cargo Bay. If you’re a fan of other Disney movies, you won’t be disappointed. There are a total of six different kids’ clubs, catering to children of various ages. Creativity abounds in these spaces, as kids can explore, enjoy high-tech gaming and engage in other interactive activities. Be prepared for excitement at every port, as the Disney Treasure offers a variety of excursions. Waking up each day with a different view is one of the most thrilling aspects of cruising. Our itinerary included stops in Cozumel, Grand Cayman, Jamaica and Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. Castaway Cay is exceptional, boasting pristine beaches and a wide range of activities for both kids and adults. You might even see a familiar character cruising around the island on a golf cart. Sailing on the Disney Treasure, with or without kids, might just be the adventure you (and your inner child) need.

Turning Yesterday’s Legacy into Tomorrow’s Luxury
Legacy and Luxe
Jewelry is sentimental, carrying stories worth preserving, yet not always in their original form. Mauzie Mays knows this to be true. She has been crafting jewelry for 35 years, both creating new designs and thoughtfully reworking exciting pieces into new ones. She focuses on bridging generations through craftsmanship that is deeply personal, true to style and refreshingly modern.
ARTICLE BY KENNEDY CLARKE | PHOTOGRAPHY BY EMILY NIEMEIER

An unused, sentimental silver knife sat in a drawer, its purpose long forgotten. That is, until Emily brought it to Mauzie’s with a vision: to find a purpose and transform it into something significant. Drawing from the ornate handle and enhancing it with delicate rose gold finishes, Mauzie reimagined the knife into a small, minimalist pendant. Behind the floral silver detailing lies its true heart — a hollow space to hold the ashes of Emily’s beloved cat, Tony. What was once a simple utensil has become a powerful accessory—elegant, understated and rich in emotion. It now carries the cherished memory of Tony and continues to gather new stories with every wear.
After losing her husband, Christy came to Mauzie’s with her wedding set in hand, symbols of love that had shaped their life together. She was looking for a way to carry him with her in a new fashion. Mauzie carefully reset her diamonds into a fresh design, one that honors their past while holding space for sorrow and grief. His gold band, resized for her right hand, now rests where she can feel him near, perfectly adorned with one single diamond to blend them both together. Her new rings don’t just sparkle, they hold a lifetime of love, the ache of loss and the quiet comfort of his presence with her each day.
Who says you have to choose between sentiment and style? Elizabeth inherited a vintage cocktail-style ring from her beloved grandmother—sweet, yet not her style. After nearly 20 years of hiding in a jewelry box, she decided it was time for a glow-up. Mauzie redesigned the ring into something she truly loves: a bold, modern ring featuring the original ruby, framed by shimmering baguette and round diamonds. It’s stylish, personal and full of heart. The stones still hold her grandmother’s love—only now, they’re worn with joy, confidence and a sparkle that’s ready to be passed down again someday. You can find Mauzie at Mauzie’s Fine Jewelry, 7200 E Dry Creek Rd. Suite B204 or www.Mauzies.com

LEADERSHIP STYLED FOR LONE TREE Where Trails Meet Policy: Rooted in Community, Shaped by Collaboration, and Defined by Balance

Mayor Harmon with Parker Mayor Joshua Rivero and Castle Rock Mayor Jason Gray
Stationed at the salon chair, amid the foils, the blowouts and the precision snips, you may not realize it but Marissa Harmon is busy doing the work of a city leader. A hairstylist for more than 20 years, Harmon has honed her hairdressing skills and experienced all the ups and downs of business ownership as a salon owner. And she says that experience has perfectly positioned her to take on another job that has kept her busy since May 2024: the mayor of Lone Tree. Harmon says she learned early on in her beauty career that the heart of any business is built on relationships. “You get to know people, what matters to them, what worries them, what they hope for,” she says. “You build trust one conversation at a time. That’s leadership in its rawest form.” She says she lives by that discipline as the chief executive of a rapidly growing city. Harmon wears many hats: mayor, small business owner, hairstylist and mother. Still, she wears them all with the same values that define Colorado style: grounded, capable and deeply connected to community and nature. CONTINUED >

Whether she’s rafting with her family, running a city council meeting or squeezing in a few hours at the salon, Harmon brings a steady mix of warmth, practicality and purpose. Her leadership style doesn’t hinge on titles or status, but instead is rooted in service. “My aim wasn’t to be a politician,” Harmon says. “I just wanted to help. That’s what drew me in and what keeps me going.” In Lone Tree, where suburban neighborhoods meet the mountains, “style” means more than what you wear; it’s something more holistic, an ease between upscale and comfortable, where trail shoes and smart policy meet. Born in upstate New York, she grew up in a family of entrepreneurs who owned and operated brick-and-mortar businesses.

When her family relocated to Colorado and opened their garage door business, that legacy followed, leading her into small business ownership with her sister and brother-in-law at Roots & Mane Salon in Lone Tree. Even as mayor, she continues to work part-time at the salon, staying grounded in the daily life of her community. Harmon’s path to public service was anything but conventional. Her young daughter won a “Mayor for a Day” contest in kindergarten, which led to meeting then-mayor Jackie Millet. They hit it off and Millet encouraged Harmon to apply for a position on the city’s planning commission. She joined in 2019 and served for three years. Later, she served on the city council before being elected mayor in 2024.
Her love of nature isn’t separate from her work, it informs it. Whether at a city planning meeting or on a riverbank, Harmon draws inspiration from the balance, perspective, and clarity that the Colorado landscape offers. “The outdoors keeps me grounded,” she says. A year and a half in, Harmon’s leadership reflects the same qualities that made her a successful entrepreneur: responsiveness, collaboration and trust. Her approach is rooted in non-partisan service, leveraging data, trusting experts and knowing when to collaborate and when to assert herself as a decision-maker. She always circles back to a core question: Does this benefit the people of Lone Tree? “There’s power in saying, ‘I don’t know, but I’ll find out.’ There’s strength in listening. There’s power in learning.” Recently, Harmon launched and now chairs the VIBE Task Force (Vitality in Business and Economy) through the Metro Mayors Caucus. CONTINUED >

“The task force’s first goal is to ensure we’re attracting and retaining businesses, not just to survive, but to thrive in our cities,” Harmon says. “By working together and taking bold, coordinated steps, we’re building a region that’s not only a statewide leader in business vitality, but a national destination for opportunity. When businesses feel supported, and cities share wins, the whole region rises.” Her philosophy is rooted in celebration, not competition. “When Centennial opens their new soccer complex, that’s good for all of us,” she adds. “We’re all interconnected.” One of Harmon’s top priorities is responsible growth guided by home rule and local decision-making. For Harmon, it’s not just about expansion, but also experience. “We want Lone Tree to grow in a way that feels intentional and reflects our values.” That mindset also drives the revitalization of the entertainment district, home to upcoming projects like the Truck Yard, an outdoor venue for music, dining and community gatherings. Looking ahead, plans for a downtown city center on the east side of I-25 aim to create a connected, inviting destination for residents and visitors alike.

Another priority is to maintain and enhance Lone Tree’s business-friendly environment. Like a balanced ecosystem, a mix of businesses — both large and small — supports a strong local economy, which in turn supports homeowners, roads, schools and city services. In this way, Lone Tree can maintain its priorities: a high quality of life and safety for all residents. Despite the demands of her job, Harmon makes space for the outdoors. Most weekends, she’s hiking or biking the local trails with her husband, daughters and two dogs, or heading out on a rafting or backpacking trip. “The outdoors keeps me grounded,” she says. “It reminds me what I’m working to protect, not just the land, but the lifestyle and quality of life that come with it.” Her love of nature isn’t separate from her work, it informs it. Whether at a city planning meeting or on a riverbank, Harmon draws inspiration from the balance, perspective, and clarity that the Colorado landscape offers. Marissa Harmon didn’t come to city hall with a political pedigree. She came with real-world experience, a strong community foundation and the ability to listen and lead with purpose. She’s leading Lone Tree the way many Coloradans live: practical, people-centered and quietly bold. In Lone Tree, she’s proving that a new kind of leadership is not only possible, it’s already here.
