“I’ve been searching, so long… to find an answer”

Everyone finds themselves searching for something in their lives at one time or another – it is part of human nature. As a people, we are meant to explore and discover new things.

July is a great time to unleash our inner explorers, as we look for fun things to do on the long days and hot nights of summer. With school out and vacation time accrued, it is the perfect time of year to discover new activities to fill up our well-earned leisure time.

At Hendersonville Lifestyle, we love everything about this season, and this month we are dedicating our July issue to helping you and your family find different ways to enjoy memorable summer experiences – all within the confines of Sumner County.

Continuing, we explore one of our favorite summer activities – visiting local farmer’s markets. From fresh, homegrown produce to unique arts and crafts, Sumner County is home for some of the best markets in Middle Tennessee.

Finally, we keep you up to date with many of the exciting events and business activities that are taking place in our home community.

See what we did here?

TASTE OF SUMMER

Sumner County Farmers Markets Are Teeming With Fresh Produce

ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY RICK MURRAY

Every spring and summer during the growing season, thousands of people across Sumner County participate in some of the most popular activities around – shopping at local farmers markets. Timed to coincide with the growing season, area markets are filled with large selections of produce and goods including farm fresh fruits and vegetables, arts & crafts and specialty merchandise.

“Markets such as our Hendersonville Farmers & Artisan Market feature local farmers, food artisans and craftspersons who offer a wide variety of locally-produced products,” says Cheryl Puryear, market manager and community events coordinator for the Streets of Indian Lake. “For example, our farmers offer naturally-raised meats, produce and eggs. Our food artisans bring their custom jams, jellies, cakes and pies, and our craft vendors showcase such items as creative home décor, pottery, woodworks, leather goods and handmade soaps.”

From Hendersonville to Gallatin to Portland, Sumner Countians love shopping at farmers markets, and they eagerly return week after week.
