The Gulf Coast is a region known for its stunning beaches, vibrant culture, and of course, its rich musical heritage. From blues and jazz to country and rock, The Gulf Coast music scene offers a diverse range of sounds and styles that captivate audiences from all walks of life. In this article, we will dive into the stories and sounds of three exceptional musicians and bands who have made a name for themselves along The Gulf Coast: Just Roger, Grits & Greens, and Jesse Duncan. Let’s start with Just Roger, a former insurance adjuster turned solo musician. Like many others, Roger’s life took an unexpected turn during the pandemic, prompting him to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a

full-time musician. Drawing inspiration from the rhythmic sounds of the ocean, Roger’s music embodies the essence of island-style vibes. With his smooth guitar melodies, catchy rhythms, and soulful vocals, he has been rocking the boat for locals and tourists alike. Next on our list is Grits & Greens, a band hailing from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. This dynamic group has been making waves with their deep soulful sound and captivating live performances. Led by the powerhouse vocals of Ryann McGhee, Grits & Greens delivers a musical experience that resonates deep within the soul. With a combination of original compositions and mesmerizing covers, they have garnered a dedicated following along The Gulf Coast. But it’s not just their music that sets them apart; it’s also their on-stage chemistry and camaraderie. Ryann’s husband Jesse, brings his exceptional guitar skills to the table, creating melodic riffs that add a unique touch to their performances. Jake Noble on bass and Jackson Bounds on drums and vocals complete the lineup, bringing a warm stage presence and a tight ship approach to their shows. Grits & Greens are a force to be reckoned with, leaving audiences in awe of their talent and craving more. Set to release their debut album in May of this year the anticipation among their fans continues to grow. With plans to play a string of album release shows; the initial release venue will be in Hattiesburg, MS, Gulf Shores, AL, Biloxi, MS, and Fairhope, AL. Following those shows they will also be touring throughout northern MS, AL, NC, GA, and SC in promotion of the album. They have plans to travel to CO, KS, NM, and TX on another large tour in the fall. Between tours, they will continue to play regionally each weekend and you can be sure that fans and new followers alike will be watching and waiting to see them live and in person. Last but certainly not least, we have Jesse Duncan, a singer-songwriter whose melodic sound and easy-going style have won the hearts of many. Growing up playing music in church, Jesse’s roots in worship and praise songs shine through in his performances. Armed with his acoustic guitar and his soulful voice, he commands the stage with confidence and charisma. Jesse’s gift lies in his ability to take familiar songs and make them his own.

Gulf State Park, located along the Gulf Coast, is a true gem for the local community and visitors alike. We recently had the pleasure of meeting up with Brad Johnson, Trail Coordinator with the City of Orange Beach Coastal Resources, and speaking with Kelly Reetz, Natural Resource Planner with Alabama State Parks to discuss the amazing opportunities that lie within arms reach. With its stunning natural beauty, diverse ecosystems, and a wide range of things to do in this oasis, Gulf State Park has become a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and outdoor lovers. Orange Beach Wildlife Center & Management Program is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of injured and orphaned wildlife in Orange Beach, AL. They have been providing care and support to a wide range of animal species, including birds, mammals, and reptiles; serving our non-human friends and allies in the best way possible. “The primary goal is to provide a safehaven for injured or orphaned animals and to give them a chance to recover and return to their natural habitats”, says Melissa Vinson, Coastal Programs Coordinator. The Wildlife Center works to ensure that each animal receives the best possible care and works with other organizations to assist in specialized cases. Once an animal is rescued, it is carefully assessed and provided with immediate medical attention, and a care plan is developed. The animals are housed in spacious enclosures that mimic their natural habitats, allowing them to regain their strength and develop the skills necessary for survival in the wild. In addition to their rehabilitation efforts, Orange Beach Wildlife Rescue wants to

There’s something about the Alabama red clay mud. Once it stains your shoes, it never comes out. The same is true for Alabama natives emerging as the Red Clay Strays. Captivating audiences and making waves in the music industry, with their unique blend of Country, Rock, and Americana, they are capturing the hearts of fans around the world.
