LIFESTYLE LETTER
See You Sept. 6 at Health and Wellness Fair As summer comes to an end, kids go back to school, and you make plans to put up that boat, close the pool and fall back into your regular routine I hope you're able to look back at all of the great memories you made with joy and gratitude. I know I can. Some will say the hardest part about summer is that it ends, but I think the hardest part is "catching up" on everything we put on hold to enjoy family vacations, take care of kids, attend summer parties and just relax. Not to mention the heat this year! It was easy to lose your breath just walking out the door some days. Our normal routines become anything but normal and we sometimes forget to take care of ourselves. Greenwood City Lifestyle has you covered! Our team has put together some ideas to really make the most out of the fall season and put you in a great position before winter and the holidays. And for the guys, maybe some "holiday ideas" in case you want to plan in advance for once. See some of the new fall looks, learn about skin care and medical spa treatments as well as some of the hottest new trends in home decorating and design. Just a few ways to get out of that summer mode and put some focus back on yourself. Finally, we invite you to an event that might be the best kickoff to the fall. Greenwood City Lifestyle has partnered with Duke Homes to host the first annual Health and Wellness Fair at The Barn at Aberdeen. On Saturday, Sept. 6, we'll start the day at 10:30 a.m. with a Fun Trail Walk, benefiting The Hope Gallery in Bargersville. Trails are only 2.5 miles long total. It’s not a competitive walk, just for fun. Please note no strollers or wheeled vehicles on the trails; just foot traffic. The Health and Wellness Fair will immediately follow that day from noon to 4 p.m. in the Barn with more than 30 health and wellness vendors. Mallow Run Winery will be on-site with complimentary refreshments for anyone 21 and older who participates in the walk. We hope to see you there! As always, a huge thanks to all of our partners and especially to you, our readers. I hope you enjoy this "Style" edition of the magazine.

No matter what stage of life or fashion mood one is in, Sara Slaughter, co-owner and manager of Brianne's Boutique in Greenwood, says they provide wonderful choices for trendy, casual and easy-to-wear women's wardrobes. The store holds a special place in her heart, especially given that her middle name is the boutique's namesake. "Since 2011, women of all ages have loved to shop our selection of tops, denim, dresses, shoes, socks, jewelry, handbags, wallets and accessories. We have styles to update all seasons of wardrobes. And, we personally select flattering pieces that run true to size," she says. "Shoppers are excited about the amount of inventory we carry. And, our customers are greeted and treated like good friends, so they always get a great big welcome." Sara explains that they mix both trendy and fast-fashion pieces with classic investment pieces that women can use to build a stunning wardrobe for work, vacation or everyday wear. With a focus on quality, the store's apparel and jewelry collections
feature top brands, such as Brighton, Hammitt, Tribal, Liverpool, Kendra Scott, Bogg Bag, Ambre Blends, Charlie B and Judy Blue. She says they have new arrival launches online Thursdays and on the floor Fridays. "We strive to bring in the quality brands our customers are looking for. We get a lot of reactions like 'wow, I didn't know you would have all of this,'" she assures. "We're always looking for new trends and styles. My favorite days are when I'm on the floor while customers and employees are having fun together. Seeing them enjoy a place that I've helped create brings me a lot of joy, and reminds me of why I'm doing this," Sara states. Sara's mother, Teresa Dillard, is the other owner of the store at 75 N. State Road 135. Teresa has lived in Greenwood since 1982, and she operates Teresa's Hallmark Shop next-door to the boutique. 317.888.8995 BriannesBoutique.com

Restore, Refine, Reveal Skin Style Balanced Beauty Medical Aesthetics Aims For Facial Harmony Through Natural Enhancements Those who "just want to feel better" in their skin seek the care advice of Becca DalyBundy, MSN, FNP-C, owner of Balanced Beauty Medical Aesthetics. "Most people are overwhelmed by products, options or the fact they’ve never really had a skin care routine that works for them. That’s where we come in. We simplify, personalize and guide clients through a plan that fits their goals and lifestyle," she explains. As a certified family nurse practitioner with 12-plus years of nursing experience, Becca received her bachelor’s degree from Kettering College and her master's degree in nursing from University of Indianapolis. She previously worked as a registered nurse for Community Health Network prior to being a nurse practitioner. Her medical background brings a clinical, safety-first lens to aesthetic medicine. Becca's customized plan is referenced as the Balanced Blueprint. She says she and clients discuss and document factors affecting individual skin care. Those elements may include makeup, cleansing routines, hydration, vitamins, genetics, exercise, sleep patterns, stress, overall health and hormonal fluctuations, as well as external factors such diet, lifestyle, sun exposure, pollutants and environment. "Aging changes your skin. Hormones, stress, lifestyle all play a role. My job is to walk with you through those changes. We’ll create a plan that makes sense for your skin now, not just what worked five years ago," she states.

Next, a budget and treatment options are finalized in a six-month plan. "Clients pick and choose options most comfortable for them. This isn’t a one-time fix. Each blueprint's thoughtfully designed with clinical treatments that work deep within skin to restore, refine and reveal the most radiant complexions. I want them to love their new routines because they do see results," she says. "My goal is for clients to look like themselves, just a more refreshed version." Her Balanced Blueprint takes into account various skin care lifestyles, such as people who need simple and quick routines; those used to more advance maintenance that may include exfoliation, face masks, eye creams or serums; and those who have more time to invest into routines, such as with professional, customized treatments. She provides injectable and non-injectable treatments, including microneedling and Perfect Derma Peels. She says The Perfect Derma Peel uses a safe, effective blend of acids and antioxidants to improve
Many factors are important to consider because they can impact skin's texture, elasticity and susceptibility to conditions like aging or illnesses.
Becca Daly-Bundy helps clients feel seen, supported and empowered.
skin tone, texture, hyperpigmentation, acne and sun damage, with minimal downtime and positive results starting after one week. Becca can apply various custom treatments, such as Aerolase Neo Elite Laser for acne, hair removal, melasma to scars and skin rejuvenation. She also provides personalized facials for all skin types, ones safe for pregnancy, breastfeeding and individuals undergoing chemotherapy or radiation. With aging, the outer layer of the skin gets thinner, paler and less stretchy. Older adults may produce less sweat and oil from the glands in their skin. Age-related changes, such as a loss of elastin and collagen cause the skin to look older, develop wrinkles and be more fragile. Whether skin care-savvy or just starting to explore what’s possible, one thing is universal: everyone wants to feel more like themselves again.
Becca says she assists others with feeling more like themselves again. "We walk that journey with clients, and in full support, so they can feel confident and empowered." She states for those looking to address skin texture and tone, laser treatments are a powerful solution that works beyond the surface of the skin right away to deliver faster, visible results. "We at Balanced Beauty believe when done with intention, education and balance, aesthetic treatments don’t change who someone is — they simply reveal a person's best version," she assures. As an appointment-only office, Becca's med is located in Greenwood at 1150 S. State Road 135. 317.727.4011 BalancedBeautyMedicalAesthetics.com

"Many times, people are afraid their preferences won't look good, and they'd like validation. Other times, they don't really know what they want, so we collaborate on approaches," she says. This year, Melanie says she's getting voluminous requests for blue and green rooms or accessories, particularly in bathrooms and kitchens. "These colors are fresh, like blue sky and green grass, yet also a little beachy. We're still incorporating earth tones but not in dominant ways. Taupe is good because it goes with everything, and I like to accentuate with black." Based from Melanie's Bargersville home office, she's built a regional business mainly through referrals. "It often starts with jazzing up one room, which leads to renewing other aspects. I'm like a kid in a candy store; I really want clients to be excited about their homes or offices," she explains. This designer is available for staging, as well as guiding and consulting DIYers.
PHOTOGRAPHY CONSISTS OF DESIGN EXAMPLES: INTERIORS BY MELANIE
Tackling clients' interior design needs has delighted Melanie Piper for the past 23 years. "I love what I'm doing, meeting new people and making design processes as fun as they can be. I work with all styles, bringing both practicality and zest to projects, after I get to know the personalities and lifestyles of my clients. Gaining friends along the way is the greatest gift." She says most people or business managers seeking to remodel spaces vocalize the desire for results to be "timeless." This is one reason she confirms she deliberately designs so rooms aren't out-of-date within a few years. One step she says to avoid is placing too much of one color in "main hangouts." Because home design can be overwhelming to many people, Melanie suggests clients collect examples of colors, light fixtures, furniture, tile, fabric swatches and floor samples they like. She also asks for pictures of actual rooms and spaces even before she's on-site so she can begin her vision of possibilities.

OLD WALL, NEW TRICKS HANG UP THE OLD WAY AND TRY A GALLERY WALL HANGING SYSTEM IN YOUR HOME.
ARTICLE BY PAM REID
One of my happy places is sitting in front of a museum wall gallery. I can admire art for hours, and if I’m with a friend, there’s no telling how long we’ll sit, reflect, and share our individual perspectives. If you’ve admired gallery wall displays in magazines, catalogs, or on social media and would like to create one in your home, it’s much easier than you might think.
WHY CHOOSE A GALLERY WALL HANGING SYSTEM? The beauty of a gallery wall hanging system lies in its flexibility and ease of use. Traditional picture hanging methods can leave walls full of holes, making it cumbersome to adjust placements or update the display. A hanging system, however, allows for easy adjustments without additional damage to your walls. This feature is particularly advantageous for renters or anyone who likes to refresh their decor frequently.
DESIGNING YOUR GALLERY WALL The first step in creating a gallery wall is planning. Start by selecting a theme or color scheme that complements your space. Themes can be as varied as black-and-white photographs, abstract paintings, or a mix of personal and artistic prints.
MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED: • A gallery wall hanging system, which typically includes mounting rails, cables or rods, and hooks. You can find them pretty much anywhere, online or at your local home improvement store. • A collection of frames and artwork. • A level, measuring tape, and perhaps a laser pointer for precision.
28
M UST SE E | HO M E + DESIGN
CONTINUED >
INSTALL ATION TIPS: CREATIVE ARRANGEMENTS • The arrangement of your gallery wall can follow several patterns, depending on your taste: • Linear: Artworks are hung in a straight line at eye level, creating a clean and orderly appearance. • Grid: Perfect for a collection of similarly sized frames, this layout emphasizes structure and uniformity. • Salon Style: This more traditional arrangement involves layering pieces closely together, often extending across the wall. It’s ideal for creating a rich, filled look. Enjoy curating a space that is uniquely yours, evolving with your tastes and lifestyle.
01
MEASURE YOUR SPACE:
Carefully measure the wall space where you want to install the gallery. Consider the height and width available, keeping in mind furniture and other room features.
02
LAY IT OUT:
Arrange your artwork on the floor to finalize your layout. This “dry run” is crucial to get a feel for how the pieces will interact with one another. I like to use painter’s tape to create a visual of what my display will look like on the walls.
03
INSTALL THE RAILS AND HANG YOUR ART:
Following the manufacturer’s instructions, mount the rails at the top of your wall. Ensure they are level and securely attached. Attach cables or rods to the rails, then use hooks to hang your frames. The beauty of the system is that you can adjust the height and position of each piece easily.
04
BALANCE AND SYMMETRY:
Step back to view your layout from different angles. Adjust the spacing and alignment as needed to achieve visual balance.
