This Month’s Tip

You can’t apologize to a dog. If you’re unfair to your dog it will take time to rebuild trust. If you have a solid history of reinforcement trust will be restored faster. Be slow to anger and quick to forgive and your dog will be as well. Our primary focus in training is all about building a solid communication system.

Love Local

As we sit nestled in our comfortable homes, sheltered from the Indiana weather, it's easy to become complacent and embrace the solitude that casually encompasses us. The holidays are in the rear view mirror, football is over and it's easy to just curl up on the couch and hibernate until spring. February in the Midwest doesn't exactly scream fun and excitement, but there's opportunity all around. Take this time to start ramping up, because spring is right around the corner and this is your time to get prepared.

February is the month of love, and this can mean something different to everyone. Maybe it's the time that you renew your love in a 30-year marriage. Maybe it's the time for new romantic love. It's possible that it's just a time to love your life and everything that it has to offer. Whatever your current situation may be, now's the time to start appreciating all of the opportunity that's on the horizon and taking advantage of everything that our community has to offer.

The theme for this month's edition is "Love Local." The obvious take on this relates to Valentine's Day and a romantic love, but it's also our opportunity to talk about the significance of local businesses and and how much they bring to this community. It's easy to just roll through a chain restaurant, order something online, have a service performed or shop at a big box to save a couple of bucks, but the experience you get from small local businesses can make all the difference. Now I'm not saying that every local business will be better but the vast majority are owned and operated by local people who truly care about their community and the people that they see every day.

So, as we trudge through the remaining winter, take this opportunity to appreciate all of the love that surrounds you, whether that be family, friends, romance, pets or just the community and local businesses that work really hard to bring you happiness. Go explore something new and make the most of every day, because before you know it, we'll all be wrapped up in the hustle of spring. As always, thank you for your support, and I hope you enjoy this "Love Local" edition of Greenwood City Lifestyle

Todd Hickman, DDS, Now Practicing Within Gorman & Bunch Orthodontics Group

BEAMING SMILES WITH PRIDE

Todd Hickman, DDS, MSD, operated Hickman Orthodontics with his now-retired father, Jerry Hickman, DDS, for a dozen years. Continuing with topnotch dental care, Dr. Todd recently joined the practice group of Gorman & Bunch Orthodontics with his office located at 8001 Shelby St. #1, Indianapolis. He specializes in orthodontic treatments, such as Invisalign clear aligners and Incognito lingual braces, as aesthetic, comfortable and effective alternatives to traditional metal braces and orthodontic appliances.

This Greenwood native was a Center Grove High School graduate, and his own family still lives in that community. His education began at Indiana University at Bloomington where he completed his bachelor's degree in biology. He continued at the Indiana University School of Dentistry where he attained his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree with high distinction in 1996, as well as his Certificate of Orthodontics in 1998. He is a past president of the Indiana University Orthodontic Alumni Association.

Greenwood City Lifestyle discussed with Dr. Hickman and his staff what's in store for patients.

WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT THE GREENWOOD COMMUNITY?

"It's such a friendly place to be. Now we're assisting the children of fellow students from when we were in high school,

making it pleasurable, second-generation relationships. We treat all ages, basically from 7 years to 70 and beyond, so get to see many familiar faces."

WHAT'S NEWLY AVAILABLE TO YOUR PATIENTS IN 2026?

"We're incorporating a new Invisalign Palatal Expander that's removable. It's for arch development and is less invasive. Its success is still dependent on patient compliance, but it has been clinically proven to be safe and effective when everyone uses it in the way it's intended.

We usually start to see patients at age 7 to check for adequate teeth spacing, missing teeth and overall growth and development. We take photos and use 3D scanning to determine jaw and teeth alignment.

Of course, we’re continuing with our signature, warm chocolate chip cookies available for every visit.”

DO YOU OFFER APPOINTMENTS FOR OUT-OF-SCHOOL HOURS?

"Many of our patients are 12 to 15 years old. Starting at 7:30 a.m., we have both before and after school hours. Given that most patients will be in our office frequently during a two-year period, we find it's best to schedule construction appointments during middays when we can spend quality time taking care of patients. Adjustment

appointments often are made outside of school hours. We strive to be as flexible as we can to work with everyone's schedules."

HOW'S THE DECISION MADE FOR WHAT TYPE OF BRACES OR ALIGNERS ARE BEST FOR

EACH PERSON?

"We're comfortable treating either. It's influenced by lifestyles, habits and self-discipline of each person. Active children or adults, who may tend to remove aligners frequently, may not be the best candidates for them. Aligners need to be worn even while sleeping. They are easier for flossing and brushing teeth, though."

HOW CAN PEOPLE BEST TAKE THE NEXT STEP FOR PERSONAL ORTHODONTICS JOURNEYS?

"New patients are welcome, with no referrals needed from dentists. It's best to take preventive steps rather than waiting for problems to develop.

We offer complimentary exams and can take photos. Through 3D scanning, we can show patients before and after simulation images of what their smile can look like. We also use AI images to predict outcomes and to design customized treatments for each person's best results.

People like that they can schedule appointments online and that we have payment plans."

WHAT POST-TREATMENT PLANS DO YOU ASSIST WITH?

"Many people are surprised to learn that post-treatment, they need 'nighttime retainers for a lifetime.' Teeth positioning can change quickly. We offer a retainer 10-year guarantee program, which basically acts like an insurance plan with an upfront fee and reduced co-pays for orders of an unlimited number of future retainers. We make a 3D mold of a person's teeth, so our patients can bring it back in to get new retainers without getting scanned again.

We also have a rewards program for being on time, or wearing necessary bands, for example, with great prizes such as headphones or flatscreens, and chances to participate in monthly or quarterly games to earn points to trade in for gift cards."

UNIQUE SCULPTURES

Gift Options

STEVE'S FLOWERS AND GIFTS STORE OFFERS STRIKING, CONTEMPORARY ARTWORK

Among the spectrum of gifts available at Steve's Flowers and Gifts is an eye-catching collection of sculptures created by Matt Buckley. From this artist's humble beginnings in his garden shed in old England, his stone resin work debuted in North America during 2019, and has quite a following.

"We pride ourselves on offering the best selection of Edge Sculptures and figurines available in the Indianapolis region. Our diverse collection ensures there's a perfect piece to complement any space or occasion," says Steve Huth Jr., owner of the store at 2900 Fairview Place in Greenwood.

Steve says the store's collection caters to diverse tastes and preferences. "Our Edge Sculptures and figurines range from classic to contemporary, ensuring there's something for everyone. We also regularly update our collection, so shoppers can always find new and exciting pieces every visit."

Under Matt's studio name of Edge Sculpture, his bold artwork is known for being filled with a powerful strength conveyed through dramatic gestures and unique forms. After compiling a portfolio of drawings in the late 1980s, he pursued art college to broaden his horizons. The business name describes the nature of the work, and it was inspired by his mother who reportedly thought his pieces had an “edge” to them. He mainly focuses on figures of animals and mythical creatures.

Matt's sculptures start in clay to create the dynamic and organic feeling of each individual piece. The finished clay masters then are moulded and hand cast using ceramic polystone. The last touch is the skilful application of hand finishing and painting that brings the figures to life.

Through carefully selecting each collection piece based on design, materials and craftsmanship, Steve says they understand the importance of quality when it comes to art pieces such as Edge Sculptures. He adds, "In addition to our selection and quality, we take great pride in providing exceptional customer service. Our team is knowledgeable and passionate about art, and they're always happy to assist customers in finding the perfect piece or to answer any questions."

Steve reminds that the store also carries other Valentine's Day gifts such as throws, boutique clothes, chimes, balloons and gourmet packages.

Give Yourself the Gift of Healing

February can be challenging when you’re not where you hoped to be-single, divorced, or navigating a difficult relationship. The cultural focus on romantic love can amplify feelings of loss or loneliness. What if we redefined love this month? True love isn’t just a feeling—it’s action toward well-being, for yourself and others, without expectation of return. We help you find healing and hope, wherever you are in life’s journey.

Jump Into Care Feetfirst

Warnock Foot & Ankle Center Provides Compassionate, Comprehensive Podiatric Services

Choosing the optimal foot and ankle specialist makes a huge difference in one's longterm health and especially during injury or treatment recovery periods. That's why the professional team at Warnock Foot & Ankle Center in Greenwood provides attentive care, advanced treatments and an intentionally calm, welcoming environment dedicated to patients' well-being.

"We're committed to creating customized care plans that meet patients' needs and help them return to the activities they love," confirms Dr. Aaron Warnock, DPM, AACFAS, as the Center's owner. "We combine modern medical technology with personalized, hands-on attention. Our diagnostic tools help us quickly and accurately identify the source of discomfort, while our treatment options are designed to deliver lasting relief."

He says he believes it's essential to be accessible to patients, and to provide responsive customer service. "When someone calls us, we're going to answer the phone or call back to follow up."

Located at 1458 W. Stones Crossing Road, Ste. 103, this patient-centered staff who launched during October 2025 offers foot health for all ages, from children with growth-related concerns to teen athletes to adults managing chronic conditions such as arthritis or diabetes.

"My grandmother dealt with being a Type I diabetic, and I used to go to the doctor's

appointments with her. She had to have amputations, and that led me to thinking I wanted to be a trauma surgeon when I was young," he explains.

Brittni Warnock, practice manager, receptionist and Dr. Warnock's spouse, says the team provides care for various types of podiatric conditions, including Achilles tendonitis; athlete's foot; bunions; diabetic foot care; flatfoot (fallen arches); ingrown toenails; metatarsalgia; onychomycosis (nail fungus); plantar fasciitis; sprains/strains and toe deformities.

Healthy habits and proactive care are imperative to preventing foot and ankle problems before they start. Dr. Warnock says regular checkups can identify issues early, and proper foot care guidance can avoid complications. "Our goal is to keep patients' feet strong and pain-free," he adds.

Dr. Warnock is a board-certified podiatrist who earned his bachelor's degree in biology with a minor in physics from Franklin College

in 2009. He then graduated from Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine with his Doctorate in Podiatric Medicine in 2013. He completed a rigorous, three-year residency program at Midwestern University in Dyer. He had eight-plus years of private practice experience before opening his own podiatry clinic.

He spent his early life as a go-kart national champion, former sprint car dirt driver and certified journeyman machinist — all activities that enhanced his ability to think strategically and to work with his hands in detailed fashion. "If I ever have to have surgery, I'm first going to ask the potential doctor what's the last thing they built themselves," he explains.

Podiatry is a heavily procedureand surgical-oriented medical care in the office. Dr. Warnock points to

treatments such as injections, trimming calluses, freezing warts and helping patients to regain mobility.

Additionally, Dr. Warnock has extensive experience in wound care centers, where he has developed a well-rounded approach to both surgical and non-surgical treatment of diabetic wounds, including reconstructive surgery. "People with unhealing wounds tend to make their way to me. I have a good track record of saving feet and legs that have plagued people for a long time. These types of wounds can come from venous leg ulcers, fractures, sports injuries, diabetes, bed-prompted pressure ulcers, disabled patients, accident traumas or those confined to wheelchairs," he says.

The clinic's newest service provides shockwave technology to loosen up scar tissue. The team's hours of operation are Mondays through Fridays 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Hometown Feels In High-End Spa

LOVE AND SELF-CARE IN COZY, WELCOMING SPA

RIGHT IN GREENWOOD

Rooted in Old Town Greenwood, Bayberry Spa LLC's story is one of local love.

Inside a restored historic home, Bayberry Spa owner Jennifer Hagner strives to create a calm, welcoming spa where care feels personal, unhurried and customized to each client. "From the moment a client walks in, I want them to feel like they can exhale," Jen explains.

No doubt the notable spa location and charm of downtown Greenwood create a setting that sets client experiences apart, fostering an atmosphere for relaxation and rejuvenation.

"Customer service is in the smallest details, and we want to give our clients all the love before, during and after their treatments," she says.

"My mission is for every client to rediscover themselves in our spa. Luxury is taking care of yourself with wellness treatments. Recharging lets you show up for yourself, your family and your community," Jen adds.

At Bayberry Spa, personalized care is part of every massage, facial and wellness treatment. Warm, toasty pillows, infused hot towels, heated massage tables, essential oils and Farmhouse Fresh skin care elevate the spa experience. Bayberry clients don't pay more for customized treatments. Jen says she's a firm believer that small details significantly impact clients' rest and recovery during and after treatments. Scents, sounds and the decor all play a role in putting guests' relaxation at the forefront.

Spa clients can select from treatments focused on relaxation and unwinding, pain and recovery and glowing beauty. With massages tailored to de-stress, anxiety, grief, sports and couples, there is a treatment targeted specifically to help clients begin healing and reconnect with themselves.

Targeted to address pain, Bayberry Spa offers sports massages, assisted stretching, manual cupping and Kinesio taping. This comprehensive menu combines

deep tissue, stretching and circulation work to help improve flexibility and range of motion and reduce pain.

If clients want to feel better in their own skin, Jen says personalized facials, dermaplaning, peels or specialized, targeted skin treatments will improve skin health while also boosting their confidence.

Jen believes the biggest compliment the spa can receive is positive client feedback: "We love hearing when a client tells us that they feel better and taken care of."

Giving clients a renewed sense of purpose fulfills Jen. She confirms that she values helping locals show up better in their own lives, something she does intentionally as well. "My favorite thing about being a local business owner in Greenwood is the relationships with clients and other small business owners. Some of those connections happened as a result of the business."

Actively involved in giving back her time and professional services to the community, Jen states she believes in showing up for her neighbors. Partnering with organizations, such as Aspire Economic Development and Chamber Alliance and Discover Old Town Greenwood, she helps other small business owners to drive economic development in Johnson County. She says she's developed a strong network of local, small business owners who collaborate to cross-promote one another, supporting neighborhood businesses and keeping Greenwood thriving.

Jenn also donates her time, along with spa and wellness services, by collaborating with The Boaz Project, Inc., a Greenwood-based global ministry that helps orphans.

As her spa business grows, Jen says she enjoys building her team with professionals who are passionate about wellness and the Greenwood community. "I pour into my team so that they can pour into the community," she adds.

DREAMS DO COME TRUE

GREENWOOD-BASED ARTIST RØSEY REVEALS HIS ART TO INTERNATIONAL AUDIENCE VIA MIAMI ART WEEK

Greenwood-based fine artist Matt "RØSEY" Rosebrough recently returned from participating in the iconic Miami Art Week. With its buzzing global reach, this special event is viewed as 'the' destination for arts and culture each year.

RØSEY, 28, was chosen to exhibit his original art for the gathering held Dec. 1-7, 2025, after he received a shoutout from Daymond John on ABC-TV's "Shark Tank." For the Miami event, RØSEY was selected to create an outside mural, with attendees witnessing his style live.

Each December since 2002, Miami/Miami Beach/ Wynwood/Coral Gables becomes the heart of the art world, hosting 20 major fairs, 1,200-plus galleries and thousands of artists. Regarded as the world’s largest celebration of art and culture, Miami Art Week attracts an international audience of collectors, curators, cultural leaders and art lovers alongside a vibrant convergence of fashion, music, performance and design.

"Painting quiets the noise and opens space for peace. Painting gives form to things I can’t always explain with words. My work's both self-help and an invitation for others to step inside my mind space," RØSEY explains, as someone who battles mental health hurdles.

He says he appreciates being able to use art as a platform to spark conversations around mental health, resilience and personal growth as themes that resonate with audiences. "I also believe I showcased how a Midwest-rooted artist can make meaningful cultural impact on a national stage while remaining grounded in my home community."

Admirers of RØSEY's work indicate it's like entering a world where emotions are painted with raw, vivid strokes.
