MORE ACCESS, MORE STORAGE, MORE JOY! ShelfGenie® of Greensboro designs, manufactures and installs custom Glide-Out™ shelving solutions that improve your home and make life easier. We believe comfort is much more than cozy chairs and down feather pillows. For us, and our clients, it’s about being able to access, store, and organize your home. We know it’s frustrating when you can’t find the baking soda or the cookie sheet - or worse, when you can see it but not reach it. But that’s where we come in. ShelfGenie is a nationwide company that has been providing custom solutions to common frustrations for over 20 years. Making our clients’ lives easier is important to us, and we’re thrilled to bring more happiness into their homes along the way.
ACCESSIBILITY
Your kitchen should make you happy. It shouldn’t be frustrating to make new recipes or spur-of-the-moment cupcakes, or to host unforgettable dinner parties. Streamline your space and improve access - no more awkward bending and twisting.
STORAGE
Making a sandwich should be easy. But if you can’t see the peanut butter, reach the jelly, or grab the bread without knocking things over, it’s just not. Transform your pantry and increase storage space by up to 50%.
ORGANIZATION
Just because your bathroom has a garden tub doesn’t mean it’s helping you refresh. With clutter around, it’s hard to unwind - let alone find the soap. At ShelfGenie, we know organization makes “me time” better. So relax.

A Beautiful Business MARISSA FAIRCLOTH'S JOB IS TO MAKE PEOPLE LOOK "BALANCED, NATURAL AND PRETTY"
MARISA FAIRCLOTH, FOUNDER OF RESTORATION MEDSPA, SEES HER JOB, FIRST AND FOREMOST, AS MAKING PEOPLE FEEL GOOD ABOUT THEMSELVES. She’s in the business of injectables, skin rejuvenation and weight loss management. But ultimately, her goal is to make sure one is “overwhelmingly happy” when they look in the mirror. “I love that,” she says. “That’s why I do what I do—to dramatically boost their self-esteem. People come in, may not like something about themselves. And we help them.” Restoration MedSpa, which is based in Winston-Salem, opened a satellite office in Greensboro last year. That office offers injectables, laser procedures and HydraFacials, as well as weight management services. The move into Greensboro, she says, made her more accessible to clients in the area. It also ARTICLE ROBERT LOPEZ

Greensboro Lifestyle | September 2018
Marisa, who was born in Guatemala and grew up in New York, graduated in 1982 from what was then the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University. After completing her studies, she went into the plastic surgery field. Prior to opening the Winston-Salem spa in 2015, she performed injectable procedures at clinics in Greensboro, Burlington, High Point, Thomasville and elsewhere in the area. Marisa specializes in a number of noninvasive methods, and many procedures take less than 30 minutes. Among the services she offers is CoolSculpting, a nonsurgical procedure in which fat cells are frozen and then eliminated from the body naturally. The process, which is used often on the belly, chin, love handles and arms, leaves no scarring and can be completed with one or two appointments. She also offers Botox injections, dermaplaning and laser hair removal. Consultations are free. Many clients, Marisa says, worry they may not recognize themselves after such procedures. But her aim is not to radically alter one’s appearance. “I had someone come in who said, ‘I realize I’m turning 50, I’m not going to look 20.' And I said, ‘We don’t want to make you look 20, we don’t want to make you look plastic.’ My job is to brush out little flaws that aging has created. All we’re doing is a little bit of airbrushing. We’re not making you look like someone else. We’re not creating a false look. The key to excellence is knowing your facial proportions and keeping everything relative. What I want is to make someone look balanced, natural and pretty.” 1002 N. Church St., Suite 101, Greensboro, North Carolina, 336.999.8295, RestorationMedSpa.com September 2018 | Greensboro Lifestyle

ASPEN BOUTIQUE Jaime Hall’s storefront looks like no other in downtown Greensboro. Bright pink, it resembles a big frosted dessert. It catches the eyes of motorists driving by. It’s inviting. And it's stylish. The store, Aspen Boutique, carries women apparel along with a wide variety of jewelry and home decor accessories. “I thought about doing black and white,” says Jaime, who opened the shop earlier this year. “But there are so many businesses in town that have black-andwhite fronts. And I was at the paint store, was eyeing this color and came back with a bunch of pink. It’s a really happy color, really brightens up downtown.” Jaime has been in Greensboro since 2007, having moved to the area from Wyoming to study in the Consumer, Apparel and Retail Studies program at UNCG. G R A& C L E A C E THE INSPIRING STORY BEHIND HOW RICK AND MELISSA HINNANT TURNED TRAGEDY INTO VICTORY AND CONTINUE TO GIVE BACK THROUGH FASHION + STYLE 26
Greensboro Lifestyle | September 2018
THEIR “ACCIDENTAL COMPANY.” It’s what Melissa and Rick Hinnant call Grace & Lace— their successful fashion company that bloomed from great tragedy and a pair of boot socks. Rick owned a landscaping company, and Melissa was in real estate. They decided it was time to slow down and start a family, but surprisingly to them, this took more time than they expected. After years of trying, Melissa finally had a healthy pregnancy, and the two were on their way to fulfilling a lifelong dream.
“IT WASN’T SOMETHING EITHER OF US SET OUT TO DO, BUT LOOKING BACK, IT’S LIKE EVERYTHING FELL INTO PLACE DESPITE THINGS FEELING LIKE THEY WERE—AT TIMES—FALLING APART.”
“One day, I was inspired to make a pair of boot socks for myself that had lace on the top of them peeking out of my boots,” Melissa says. “They took me eight hours to make and were a pain in the butt—I swore I’d never make another pair again. However, every time I wore them, women—total strangers—would stop me to ask where I bought these socks.” Rick encouraged Melissa to sell them online, where people fell in love with both the socks and the story behind them. That’s how the “accidental business” started. “It wasn’t something either of us set out to do, but looking back, it’s + Honeycomb Knit Sweater + Lightweight Two Fit Knit + Chiffon Hi/Low Extender

HONG KONG SEA BASS IS A SPECIALTY AT VILLAGE TAVERN IN GREENSBORO
ARTICLE ROBERT LOPEZ

THE FILLET RESTS ON A POOL OF SWEET SOY SAUCE, NESTLED IN BETWEEN A SCOOP OF STICKY RICE AND A LITTLE MOUND OF SAUTEED SPINACH. Mary Grace Viado’s Hong Kong Sea Bass is a specialty at Village Tavern in Greensboro, an Asian-inspired dish she describes as simple but bursting with flavor. “It’s one of my favorites,” she says. “It’s a beautiful dish. The presentation is great, and it fits in with the variety of influences we try to have on our menu.” Mary Grace, who has been with Village Tavern for 15 years, works in research and development, helping to devise new menu items and coach team members for the company’s 10 restaurants. Born in the Philippines, Mary Grace is an alum of the Culinary Institute of America and has worked in restaurants in San Francisco and New York. She also served as a corporate chef for a restaurant group in the Philippines.

In October 2016, I injured my left knee and calf muscle in a boot camp type exercise program. I had PRP in April 2017. Six weeks later, my left knee was much better. Within weeks, I was, and still am, pain free. I had PRP in my right knee in November 2017, with excellent results. I am so grateful for this treatment!
As a huge proponent of natural healing, I wanted to identify the cause of my right shoulder pain and seek a natural healing solution. Dr. Bethea evaluated my injury and injected PRP in February 2017. I felt some immediate relief and over the next eight weeks, the pain in my right shoulder completely disappeared. I would repeat this treatment again over surgery if the pain ever returned. I have recommended this treatment to others as an amazing alternative to surgery!
