THEIR “ACCIDENTAL COMPANY.” It’s what Melissa and Rick Hinnant call Grace & Lace— their successful fashion company that bloomed from great tragedy and a pair of boot socks. Rick owned a landscaping company, and Melissa was in real estate. They decided it was time to slow down and start a family, but surprisingly to them, this took more time than they expected. After years of trying, Melissa finally had a healthy pregnancy, and the two were on their way to fulfilling a lifelong dream.

“One day, I was inspired to make a pair of boot socks for myself that had lace on the top of them peeking out of my boots,” Melissa says. “They took me eight hours to make and were a pain in the butt—I swore I’d never make another pair again.
