Hope Springs: The Largest Habitat for Humanity Community in Colorado

Building Innovative Communities

Cheri Witt-Brown, Chief Executive Director for Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity, shared this message at the Hope Springs ground blessing. “Imagine the sound of children laughing, playing, running to their homes with excitement from school, daycare, or the soccer field. Imagine children doing their homework and saying their nightly prayers in their own room. Families will celebrate birthdays, and graduations, and watch new generations being born in their Habitat homes. Imagine 491 families living in a safe, secure, affordable community because we ALL cared to invest in their futures and the future of our community."

Now, as 2026 approaches, Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity has built 40 homes out of a total of 174 Habitat homes. 22 families have officially moved into Hope Springs, with another 20 soon to move into their homes by the Spring of 2026. In a couple of short years, Hope Springs will be home to 174 Habitat families, providing workforce, senior, ADA, and other housing solutions for individuals and families in desperate need of affordable housing. With the high cost of homeownership these days, the continued support of these amazing Hope Springs development partners and sponsors, along with the dedication of companies like Chevron, Greeley-Weld Habitat for Humanity, can continue to build up the futures of local families in Weld County.

Letter from the Publisher’s Assistant: Gratitude in Every Shared Moment

Hi Friends,

As the seasons shift and the air takes on that familiar crispness, I can’t help but reflect on the things that fill my heart most. I’m thankful for my family—for the laughter that echoes through our home, the tiny fingerprints on the windows, and the moments of chaos that somehow become the ones I treasure most. I’m thankful for a career that lets me share the stories of this incredible commu nity and for you — the readers, partners, and neighbors who remind me every day what connection truly looks like in Greeley.

This month’s stories reminded me how often thankfulness hides in plain sight—in shared meals, small acts of giving, and the courage to keep chasing what lights you up.

In this issue, we gather around the table with four community-forward women to talk about their traditions, gratitude, and deep connection to Greeley. We dive into Tammy Kidwell’s creative classes at Charley & Co Boutique , where art becomes a bridge between hearts. We also shine a light on Weld County Garage , a family-owned business that has spent generations giving back and standing by the people who make this community strong. Alongside them, we’ve highlighted a few meaningful ways to volunteer throughout November and December—gentle reminders that even a single act of service can ripple farther than we imagine. And through Parker Gentry ’s story, we see what happens when passion meets perseverance, and a dream takes root right here in our hometown.

Gratitude, I’ve realized, isn’t loud. It’s steady. It shows up in quiet mornings, in shared purpose, and in communities like ours—where people give of themselves simply because it’s who they are.

Greeley wouldn’t be Greeley without you.

Cheers,

November 2025

In Greeley, tradition isn’t just something we look back on—it’s something we keep creating together. Like a Thanksgiving table filled with favorite dishes, every person, business, and organization brings something meaningful to share, adding flavor to the city we call home. This season, we’re pausing to celebrate the moments, memories, and rituals that make Greeley special. We gathered four community-forward women around the table to talk about what this season means to them. From cherished Thanksgiving memories to reflections on gratitude and community, their voices remind us that Greeley’s greatest tradition is connection—and there’s always room for one more seat at the table. WHAT ARE YOU MOST THANKFUL FOR THIS YEAR?

This year, I’m especially thankful for the incredible support I’ve felt since stepping into my role at Life Stories about 18 months ago. The community has come alongside me in ways I couldn’t have imagined, offering guidance, encouragement, and grace. I see support in the way local businesses, nonprofits, and volunteers come together to make a meaningful impact, showing that partnerships and collaboration can truly change lives.

WHAT ABOUT GREELEY MAKES YOU FEEL MOST GRATEFUL TO LIVE AND WORK HERE?

I moved to Greeley fresh out of high school to attend UNC, and over the past 15 years, I’ve grown through the challenges of life and work while trying to find my place. Through it all, this community has been remarkably generous. Whether through my work with Life Stories, my personal business, my involvement in the arts, or partnerships with other nonprofits over the years, I have felt the same sense of care and collaboration in every corner of my life.

WHAT DOES THIS SEASON MEAN TO YOU?

This season is always really special to me because it is the season my daughter was born in. The transition into the lore of fall really starts to feel like magic for my family. It’s this magic that also calls me to pause and really be with family. The months feel like a quick domino tumble most years, but I always feel like I am reminded to slow down during this time of year, especially.

THINK OF GREELEY AS ONE BIG THANKSGIVING TABLE—WHAT WOULD YOU “BRING” TO SHARE?

I would bring love and resonance. My photography teacher wrote in my graduation card, “You are free to create your impact.” I think about that impact often, from large-scale hopes and dreams to the smaller impacts. I think this notion is so important to consider when you are building new tables or taking a seat at an already established table.

BETHANY

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE THANKSGIVING TRADITION OR MEMORY?

One of our favorite family traditions has become our Thanksgiving morning “Turkey Trot.” My husband, our three kids, and I love to kick off the day with a run. There’s something grounding and joyful about starting the day with movement, fresh air, and laughter—especially when we’re all bundled up in the crisp autumn air.

WHAT ABOUT GREELEY MAKES YOU FEEL MOST GRATEFUL TO LIVE AND WORK HERE?

Since moving to Greeley in 2004, I’ve felt a deep connection to this community. One of the first things I noticed in Greeley—and still love to this day—is how genuinely kind and welcoming people are. Even though Greeley continues to grow and evolve, it still has that small-town feel—the kind where everyone seems to be connected in some way. I’ve seen firsthand how people in Greeley care deeply for one another. There’s a spirit of resilience and compassion here that makes me proud to call it home.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE THANKSGIVING TRADITION OR MEMORY?

My mom always made Kentucky Hot Browns with our Thanksgiving leftovers. They are open faced turkey sandwiches on French bread with bacon and cheese sauce. I liked them better than the Thanksgiving meal. I’ve continued this tradition, and my kids feel the same way!

THINK OF GREELEY AS ONE BIG THANKSGIVING TABLE—WHAT WOULD YOU “BRING” TO SHARE?

If Greeley were one big Thanksgiving table, I would bring connection. Community flourishes when we listen to one another, celebrate diverse voices, and work side by side toward the common good. Just like a table where every dish adds something unique, Greeley is strongest when each of us offers our gifts and talents. My contribution would be helping to weave those strengths together so that everyone feels seen, valued, and invited to belong.

Parker Gentry
PHOTOGRAPHY BY ERIK BRANOM

At just 18, Greeley native Parker Gentry is chasing big dreams with a guitar in hand and a sound that turns heads. These days, you’ll find him deep in the heart of Nashville—writing, performing, and pouring everything he has into his music. But his story started right here in Northern Colorado, long before the bright lights and studio sessions.

The moment Parker knew music was more than just a passion came on a small stage in September of 2023. “I was scared out of my mind,” he admits, thinking back on that first live performance. “But the second I started playing, everything clicked. It was the most fun I’d ever had.” That single experience—equal parts nerves and adrenaline—flipped the switch. From that point on, music wasn’t just something he enjoyed. It was what he was meant to do.

The leap to Nashville came not long after. And while Parker knew he’d be surrounded by talent, he didn’t expect just how much it would push him. “Every writer, every player—there’s so much talent here, and it’s inspiring. It makes you want to get better every single day.” That drive has already paid off. Songwriting, once a casual pastime with friends back in Greeley, has grown into something more focused and intentional. His lyrics now reflect lived experience—real stories drawn from home and heartache, family and faith.

And even with new opportunities unfolding, Parker stays grounded by the values Greeley instilled in him. “It’s a place full of hardworking people who don’t take shortcuts,” he says. That mindset has followed him to Tennessee, where long hours and quiet persistence are the name of the game. He credits his parents and hometown support system for giving him the confidence to go after something most wouldn’t dare. “They believed in me from the beginning—when this dream was just an idea.”

Right now, Parker is gearing up to release a single—no set date yet, but the excitement is building. He’s also booking as many shows as possible, especially in Colorado, where he loves performing for the people who knew him before the spotlight. And while “making it” could someday mean chart-topping hits or sold-out arenas, Parker has a different definition. For him, it’s about waking up every day and getting to do what he loves. If his music connects with people and he can keep going, that’s success in his book.

Asked what advice he’d give to his younger self—the kid just starting out—Parker doesn’t hesitate. “Keep trusting God’s plan, even when it doesn’t make sense. There are going to be setbacks, but they’re part of the journey. Stay true to who you are, keep your faith strong, and don’t be afraid to dream big.”

Dream big, he has—and from the looks of it, he’s only getting started.

PARTNERS CREATES CONNECTIONS THAT GUIDE, INSPIRE, AND TRANSFORM LIVES ACROSS NORTHERN COLORADO

PHOTOGRAPHY BY ALANI CASIANO

Mentor Judith Johnson & Mentee Camila Reyes-Ulloa

For more than 40 years, Partners has been connecting youth in Northern Colorado with caring adult mentors who help guide, support, and encourage them. Their purpose is simple yet powerful: to ensure that every young person who needs extra encouragement has a trusted adult to lean on. Through one-on-one mentoring, group activities, and life-skill development, Partners helps youth build confidence, discover new interests, and develop meaningful relationships that last well beyond the program.

One of those connections is between mentor Judith Johnson, 40, and mentee Camila Reyes-Ulloa, 14. Matched in November 2024, the two have spent the last year building a bond that is equal parts fun, adventurous, and transformative. “Camila was completely unaware her mom had signed her up,” Judith laughs. “When we first met, she looked at me like, ‘Wait, mom, you’re sending me with a stranger?’ We look back now and laugh about it.”

Camila admits she was skeptical at first. “I thought she would be some form of therapy my mom had paid for. I thought I’d have to pretend around her,” she recalls. “But I was proven wrong very quickly. She’s so easy to get along with—funny and embarrassing in the best way.”

As the months passed, the relationship blossomed into something that felt natural and comfortable. Judith has noticed the difference. “Camila is a lot more open and willing to talk about things going on in her life,” she shares. “I’m grateful for that trust.” Camila agrees: “At first, I was very careful with what I said, thinking my mom would know everything. Now, I can be myself and treat Judith as a friend. She knows more than some of my closest friends now.”

Their time together has been filled with memorable adventures. From rafting the Poudre River to attending Camila’s first-ever concert—seeing The Marías at Red Rocks—each experience has brought them closer. “Every time I hear one of their songs, I think of Judith,” Camila says. “That night gave me a kind of excitement I hadn’t felt in forever.”

Judith says her proudest accomplishment has been consistency—showing up, making time, and being willing to try new things. For Camila, the program has given her the confidence to step outside her comfort zone. “I’ve popped my bubble,” she explains. “I’ve discovered new hobbies, new interests, and more things about myself.”

For Judith, mentoring is personal. As a child, she participated in Big Brothers Big Sisters and remembers how impactful it was to have someone solely focused on her. “It takes a village to guide and support a young person,” she reflects. “Being a mentor has made me more patient and reminded me that being open to change can lead to deeper connections.”

With their one-year match anniversary approaching, Judith and Camila plan to celebrate at Fright Fest at Elitch Gardens and continue their mentorship well beyond the program’s one-year minimum. Their story is a perfect example of what Partners hopes to create: lasting, life-changing connections.

If you’ve ever considered becoming a mentor, Judith offers this advice: “If you have the time, mental capacity, and heart space—do it. You won’t regret it. The learning and growing goes both ways.”

Partners is always looking for new mentors and community supporters. Whether you volunteer your time, make a donation, or help spread the word, you can be part of helping Northern Colorado youth thrive. Learn more at poweredbypartners.org

A Century of Care in Motion

WELD COUNTY GARAGE CONTINUES TO SERVE GREELEY WITH INTEGRITY, HEART, AND A SPIRIT OF GRATITUDE

In Greeley, where tradition and connection run deep, Weld County Garage has been part of the community’s story for more than a century. Since 1908, the dealership has built trust, created opportunity, and supported its neighbors. Under the Yoder family’s leadership since 1983, that sense of purpose hasn’t changed—it’s simply grown stronger with time.

Derek Lewis, Ginger Anson, Bre Weber, Chase Yoder, Kaela Yoder, LeAnn Davis, Perry Cogburn, & Connor Day

GIVING BACK TO GREELEY

Each year, Weld County Garage leads two key outreach efforts that have become cornerstones of its community involvement: a Thanksgiving food drive and a Christmas toy drive in partnership with Serve 6.8. Both bring together employees, customers, and local families to help meet real needs during the holiday season.

That same spirit of generosity extends through Yoder Family Cares, an employee-led program that ensures support reaches every corner of the organization and beyond. Representatives from each Yoder Family company meet regularly to listen, share ideas, and find meaningful ways to help—whether through emergency assistance, volunteer projects, or long-term programs that make daily life better.

One of those ideas became the Yoder Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC). Created after the care team recognized how many single parents struggled with affordable, flexible childcare, the center was first designed to serve employees, District 6 teachers, and first responders. It’s now open to the public, continuing to reflect the same belief that strong families build strong communities.

STANDING BEHIND THEIR WORD

At Weld County Garage, going above and beyond for customers isn’t the exception—it’s the way business is done. Every

day, employees take it upon themselves to do what’s right, whether that means driving hours to deliver a repaired vehicle or solving a problem no one else could. That freedom to act comes from trust. The team understands the company’s values and has the confidence to carry them out without waiting for direction.

As Chase Yoder, President of the Yoder Family of Companies, explains: “When people understand they’re part of something bigger than themselves, they don’t need to be told to do the right thing—they just do it. That’s the culture we work to build every day.”

A LEGACY THAT LASTS

As one of Northern Colorado’s few remaining family-owned dealerships, Weld County Garage sees its work as more than selling cars. The Yoder family’s motto—“Rooted in faith. Community driven.”—sums it up best. Their business is an extension of their faith and a way to make a lasting difference in the places they call home.

From creating opportunities for employees to serving local families in need, Weld County Garage continues to show that faith and community can move in the same direction.

Weld County Garage is located at 2699 47th Avenue in Greeley. To learn more, visit weldcountygarage.com or call (970) 301-2480.

MADE TO Create

Before Charley & Co Boutique ever opened its doors in Greeley, Tammy Kidwell was already living a life stitched together by creativity, community, and quiet courage. A longtime resident of Boulder County, Tammy was a working mother with a passion for side businesses — the kind that required paint-stained hands, craft shows, and late nights making custom ornaments in her garage. Whether running a décor store, painting landscapes, or teaching classes, creativity wasn’t just a hobby. It was her way of bringing beauty and connection into everyday life.

Everything changed in February 2019 when Tammy lost her youngest son, Jay, to complications from the flu. Soon after, she moved to Greeley to be closer to her oldest son, Charlie, and her grandchildren. Grieving and searching for purpose, she leaned into what had always brought comfort — painting. With a brush in hand and prayers in her heart, the earliest ideas for Charley & Co began to take shape.

“I spent those first few months in Greeley lost in my thoughts, painting landscapes,” Tammy shares. “That’s when I started thinking about opening a space to sell my work, along with home décor and gifts.” Her daughter-in-law, Lisa Shelley — a creative force in fashion and makeup — was all in. Together, they opened

PHOTOGRAPHY BY SANTORA PHOTO CO.

Charley & Co, naming it after Charlie, and set out to build not just a boutique and coffee bar, but a place where community could take root.

While the shop’s inviting style and artisan goods gained attention, it’s what happens in the backroom — around paintbrushes, canvases, and tables filled with laughter — that sets Charley & Co apart. Tammy’s creative classes are a blend of warmth, artistry, and intention. They’re not just about learning a craft; they’re about healing, celebrating, and sharing life.

“My creative talents come from God,” Tammy says. “Whenever I feel lost, God tells me to paint. It’s how I find stillness. It’s always been His way of leading me forward.”

That connection between faith and creativity is central to the classes she offers. From floral arranging and sourdough baking to candle making and painting projects, each event is designed to be approachable, joyful, and just the right amount of challenging. Tammy tests the projects herself, simplifying steps so every participant — no matter their skill level — feels confident by the end.

“I want people to leave feeling fulfilled, joyful, and more in touch with their own creativity,” she says. “But more than that, I hope they walk away with new friendships. That sense of connection is everything.”

The classes, often paired with refreshments and conversation, have become one of Charley & Co’s most beloved offerings. They draw women of all ages — some coming for the art, others simply needing a few hours of calm and community. In many ways, they reflect Tammy’s own journey of grief, renewal, and purpose.

Faith has always been woven into the boutique’s identity. From hand-lettered scripture on the walls to devotionals and journals, Tammy has never shied away from

sharing her heart. And in a city like Greeley, where community and faith often go hand in hand, her authenticity has only strengthened her connection with customers.

“People thank us all the time for having a space that’s open about faith,” she says. “We were told not to advertise as a Christian business — that it would hurt us. But we’ve experienced the opposite.”

When the coffee bar was added, Tammy watched two distinct communities merge. Regulars from the boutique met regulars from the café, and slowly something deeper began to grow — a network of people who knew each other by name and found comfort in a shared space. Tammy sees it every day: people aren’t just stopping in for a latte or a new outfit — they’re looking to feel known.

Her vision includes carving out more space for local artists and offering more workshops, especially painting. “I’d love to use that space to create and, hopefully, inspire others to do the same,” she says. “It’s not about being perfect — it’s about showing up, trying something new, and feeling proud of what you made.”

Tammy Kidwell may have arrived in Greeley in the midst of heartbreak, but through brushstrokes, faith, and the courage to begin again, she’s created something lasting. Charley & Co isn’t just a boutique — it’s an invitation. And Tammy, quietly and joyfully, is reminding everyone who walks through her door that there’s still beauty to be made, still stories to be shared, and still room at the table.

Thankful for Ever Cleaner Energy

CHEVRON’S GENEROSITY AND INNOVATION

Colorado’s story is one of wide-open landscapes, resourcefulness, and strong community ties. At the center of that story stands Chevron, a company that fuels lives, champions an ever-cleaner energy future, and invests deeply in its communities. As we enter this season of gratitude, it feels right to celebrate the meaningful contributions Chevron has made across the state.

Chevron’s roots in Colorado stretch back nearly a century, and today it stands as the state’s largest producer of oil and natural gas. In the DJ Basin, the company operates across hundreds of thousands of acres and produces hundreds of thousands of barrels of oil-equivalent each day. Yet what truly sets Chevron apart is its unwavering focus on innovation aimed at reducing environmental impact.

One standout example is the deployment of modern “tankless” facilities, which slash greenhouse gas emissions by over 90 percent compared to traditional sites and reduce the surface footprint of its facilities. Chevron powers many operations with grid electricity, reducing emissions, and favors pipelines over trucks—eliminating more than 150 million highway miles each year. Since 2016, Chevron has been retiring and removing roughly 500 wells a year. This program helps reclaim thousands of acres for other uses, such as agriculture, rangeland, and wildlife habitat, reducing Colorado’s carbon footprint and supporting the local environment.

Chevron’s commitment to environmental stewardship is matched by a genuine heart for community. Employees volunteer across Colorado, supporting

education, youth programs, culture, and environmental initiatives. In Greeley and Weld County, the impact is especially visible: through its long-standing partnership with the Weld Food Bank in Greeley, Chevron has donated both a compressed natural gas delivery van and gives generously each year to expand mobile pantry services and holiday meal programs—touching the lives of students, seniors, and families across Northern Colorado.

Education is central to Chevron’s giving, with scholarships and program funding for local universities and K–12 schools. Through partnerships with Aims Community College, the University of Northern Colorado, and The Success Foundation, the company helps support future leaders across Northern Colorado.

In Greeley schools, Chevron employees help bring STEM and energy education to life through volunteer visits and career exposure programs, fostering curiosity and opportunity among students. Chevron partners with Wish for Wheels to gift bikes and helmets to second graders in Title I schools across Weld County— many receiving their very first bikes, a moment of freedom and joy they’ll remember long after the wheels stop turning.

Chevron’s community connections extend far beyond charitable giving. As the presenting sponsor of the Greeley Stampede, one of Northern Colorado’s most beloved traditions, Chevron plays a meaningful role in preserving and celebrating local culture.

The 12-day event, originally a tribute to potato farmers, now draws over 200,000 people annually and channels significant contributions back into Weld County—supporting nonprofits, improving community spaces like Island Grove Park, and bolstering education through the Stampede Foundation.

For many Coloradans, Chevron is more than an energy company. It’s a neighbor, deeply committed to environmental care and community vitality. Local employees often express pride in balancing energy production with protecting the natural beauty of the state—a balance reflected in each reclaimed field, each volunteer hour, and every thoughtful investment in Greeley and beyond.

As friends and families gather this season, the full measure of gratitude extends beyond the meals and celebrations around the table. It includes the quiet, powerful contributions of neighbors who work to keep the lights on, ensure the environment is respected, and make communities stronger. Chevron embodies that spirit—with innovation that propels ever cleaner energy and a generosity that uplifts the places we love.

This year, as thanks are shared across Weld County and beyond, it’s a moment to recognize the role Chevron plays—not just in powering lives, but in caring for communities with vision, responsibility, and genuine warmth.

Lifelong Learning at LINC

PHOTOGRAPHY BY UNFOUND DOOR

On a crisp November afternoon, the LINC Library Innovation Center hums with energy. At one table, a group of neighbors thread needles and swap fabric scraps, finishing handmade gifts just in time for the holidays. Down the hall, a digital design workshop sparks curiosity as participants learn to layer graphics in Photoshop, turning simple images into keepsakes. It is not a school classroom or a community center—it is the library. And for many in Greeley, it has become a reason to be thankful.

Libraries have long been symbols of knowledge, but LINC has reimagined what a library can mean to a community. Inside its modern space, gratitude flows in many directions: parents grateful for storytimes that spark a love of reading, students grateful for technology and quiet study spaces, and adults grateful for workshops that open doors to new skills without barriers. The programs do more than fill calendars—they create a culture of lifelong learning that stretches across generations.

A CREATIVE SPACE TO FINISH WHAT’S STARTED

Early in the month, LINC hosts its Craft Catch-Up, an event that encourages residents to bring half-done projects—knitting, sewing, card-making, or scrapbooking—and finally bring them to life. The library provides sewing machines, tools, and plenty

of space, while participants contribute encouragement, conversation, and inspiration.

The event is less about perfect projects and more about carving out time for creativity. Neighbors exchange techniques, share supplies, and leave with renewed confidence. In a season when gratitude often centers on family and traditions, Craft Catch-Up reflects another kind of thankfulness: appreciation for time, space, and the chance to create.

LEARNING IN THE DIGITAL AGE

At the end of November, LINC’s Create-o-Matic: Digital Design Series brings another dimension to learning. This hands-on workshop introduces participants to professional design software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. The session focuses on creating a personalized photo wallet, teaching attendees how to prepare files for sublimation printing.

“LIBRARIES HAVE LONG BEEN SYMBOLS OF KNOWLEDGE, BUT LINC HAS REIMAGINED WHAT A LIBRARY CAN MEAN TO A COMMUNITY.”

The program lowers barriers that often accompany digital learning. By pairing instruction with a project that produces a tangible keepsake, participants leave not only with new knowledge but also with something meaningful to hold in their hands. Education becomes approachable, practical, and inspiring.

By offering these opportunities at no cost, LINC allows residents to develop skills that may evolve into hobbies, career paths, or simple moments of personal expression. It represents one more reason for the community to be thankful: education that is accessible to all.

A PLACE FOR EVERY STAGE OF LIFE

These programs are just glimpses of what occurs at LINC each week. Toddlers gather for storytime that sparks imagination. Teens explore the makerspace, coding kits, or collaborative study rooms. Adults seek guidance on everything from resume writing to 3D printing. Seniors join book clubs and workshops that keep them connected and engaged.

In every corner of the building, the theme remains consistent: learning extends across a lifetime, and gratitude deepens when knowledge is shared.

For families without access to sewing machines, design software, or even reliable internet, LINC provides more than resources— it provides equity. It levels the playing field and ensures that residents of Greeley, regardless of circumstance, can learn, create, and thrive.

MORE THAN JUST A LIBRARY

As November invites reflection, LINC emerges as more than a building filled with books. It functions as a community hub, a gathering place, and a reminder of what is possible when access to education and creativity is open to all. The gratitude it inspires is not abstract—it is embedded in the daily lives of the people it serves.

A mother grateful for the way her child discovers the magic of stories.

A retiree grateful for the opportunity to finish a project or try a new craft.

A student grateful for free technology that supports their studies.

Each moment adds another page to the ongoing story of gratitude at LINC.

AN OPEN INVITATION

In a season centered on appreciation, LINC stands as a gift to its community. With programs that nurture creativity, technology that opens new doors, and a space where everyone belongs, it represents a form of gratitude in action.

This November, the LINC Library Innovation Center extends its invitation to all ages to explore something new within its walls—whether through books, skills, or connections. Many leave with more than they came for, carrying with them both knowledge and a renewed sense of thankfulness. Find additional information at mylibrary.us/LINC/ or by visiting LINC Library Innovation Center, 501 8th Avenue, Greeley, CO 80631.

SEASON OF THANKS, Season of Service

Celebrate Thankfulness by Serving Others through Holiday Volunteer Opportunities

Gratitude is best expressed not only in words, but in action. In Greeley, opportunities to turn thankfulness into service are everywhere—especially as the holiday season approaches. From November through December, local organizations open their doors to volunteers, reminding us that giving back is one of the most meaningful ways to celebrate the season.

Greeley and Weld County are rich with traditions that combine holiday cheer and community impact. On Thanksgiving morning, runners gather for the NCMC Turkey Trot, where proceeds benefit the North Colorado Medical Center’s cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs. Beyond the race itself, volunteers make the event possible, assisting with packet pick-up, race-day logistics, and course support—small roles that ripple into life-changing health resources for neighbors.

Later in the season, downtown Greeley transforms with WinterFest, a three-weekend celebration that begins with Light Up Lincoln, continues with Holiday Lane, and wraps up with Maker’s Workshops. Each Saturday, volunteers play a vital role in greeting guests, leading activities, and keeping the festivities running smoothly. The laughter of families, twinkling lights, and shared traditions are all amplified by those who give their time.

Not every opportunity comes with lights or fanfare. United Way’s Overnight Shelter, for example, calls on small teams to prepare and serve nightly meals for guests experiencing homelessness. Meanwhile, Meals on Wheels ensures seniors receive hot meals and a friendly face, especially when regular drivers are away during the holidays.

This guide highlights just a handful of ways to get involved, but together they tell a bigger story: that Greeley is a community where giving thanks is lived out in action, creating stronger connections and brighter days for all.

BROTHERHOOD, INTEGRITY, AND A LEGACY OF GIVING

Northern Colorado United for Youth

For these men, giving back is not an obligation—it’s a way of life.

In every community, there are organizations that quietly shape the landscape of possibility for future generations. In Northern Colorado, one of those groups is Northern Colorado United for Youth, or NOCO UNIFY, a collective of men who believe that true strength isn’t measured by accolades, but by how much you give back. Built on shared morals, integrity, and the conviction that brotherhood can fuel change, NOCO UNIFY has become a steady force for good in the lives of young people across the region.

For the men who make up NOCO UNIFY, the organization is more than a club or networking group. It is a brotherhood. At its heart, NOCO UNIFY is about creating a circle of trust, accountability, and camaraderie. These men come from different backgrounds, professions, and walks of life, but they are united by a mission: to make Northern Colorado a better place for disadvantaged kids to grow up.

The organization is nurtured through shared values—honesty, loyalty, and generosity. Members encourage each other to live out these principles not only in their personal lives but also in how they show up for their community. In a world that often celebrates individual achievement, NOCO UNIFY stands out for its collective mindset: when one man grows stronger in integrity and compassion, the ripple effects strengthen the group. And when the group stands united, the community benefits.

At its core, NOCO UNIFY is about giving back and changing lives. Every initiative, fundraiser, and volunteer effort centers on the belief that youth are the most valuable investment a community can make. These men channel their time, resources, and energy into programs that support children and families in need, ensuring no child in Northern Colorado is overlooked.

Whether through scholarships, mentoring, fundraising for schools, or direct service projects, the group has built a reputation for action. Their philosophy is simple but powerful: when kids are supported, they thrive. And when kids thrive, communities flourish. Their approach is unique in that they don’t just give financially—they give relationally. They show up at events, listen to stories, and model what integrity and commitment look like. In doing so, they offer youth more than resources—they offer hope, encouragement, and the example of men invested in their futures.

The impact extends beyond the immediate beneficiaries of thier giving. Their work strengthens the fabric of Northern Colorado itself. Each act of service inspires others to contribute. Each child who receives support carries that sense of value into their own life, often becoming a source of strength for others.

For the members, the bonds they create within the organization are life-changing. Men find friendship,

accountability partners, mentors, and role models. They share stories of triumphs and struggles and stand together in moments of need. This brotherhood fuels their ability to give back, ensuring their work is deeply rooted and sustainable.

The more they give, the more they grow—not only as individuals, but as a collective. That growth multiplies the good they bring into the community. Integrity is more than a buzzword—it is the backbone of everything they do. Members hold themselves to high standards, ensuring funds are stewarded responsibly and initiatives create lasting impact.

They understand that the example they set today matters for the next generation. When young people see adults living with honesty, generosity, and kindness, they believe those qualities are attainable. Integrity also means transparency and accountability, both within the brotherhood and with the community they serve. This trustworthiness has earned the organization a strong reputation, making them a reliable partner for schools, nonprofits, and families alike.

Their legacy is not measured solely by dollars raised or projects completed. It is measured in lives touched, futures brightened,

and the example set. It is felt in the quiet confidence of a student who knows people are rooting for them, and in the grateful smile of a family lifted in a time of need.

Members often say they receive just as much as they give. In pouring into the community, they are filled with purpose, meaning, and joy. This cycle of giving and receiving ensures their impact lasts beyond a single event or season.

As Northern Colorado grows and changes, organizations like NOCO UNIFY are essential in keeping the heart of the community strong. By uniting around shared morals, integrity, and commitment to youth, they change lives and build a stronger, kinder, more resilient region.

In the end, NOCO UNIFY is not simply about men coming together; it’s about what happens when they do. Their brotherhood proves that integrity and generosity still matter and, when practiced together, can transform entire communities.

For these men, giving back is not an obligation—it’s a way of life. And for the youth of Northern Colorado, it’s a promise: they are seen, supported, and worth every ounce of effort poured into them.

H O P E

Begins with YOU

The holidays have a way of calling us back to what matters most—faith, family, compassion, and the quiet but powerful act of giving. As lights go up and calendars fill, there are still many who sit in silence, carrying burdens too heavy to bear alone. But what if this season, you could be the spark that changes everything for someone else?

The founders of City Lifestyle, through their private foundation, are once again launching its annual Christmas Giving Campaign—a heartfelt effort to seek out and support individuals and families who have quietly fallen through the cracks. The mission is simple: to bring light, dignity, and hope to those who need it most.

Since its beginning just four years ago, this initiative has grown from a humble idea into a life-changing movement. Last Christmas alone, more than 200 families across the country received unexpected support—financial relief, but also something even more powerful.

“We don’t just send checks,” says Steven Schowengerdt, CEO and founder of City Lifestyle. “We send a message: You are seen. You are loved. And you are not forgotten.”

Together with City Lifestyle President Matthew Perry, Steven has helped shape this into a tradition that goes far beyond charity. “This is about community,” Matthew adds. “We believe we’ve been blessed, so now we get to be a blessing.”

Every story begins with a nomination. Often, it’s a neighbor, coworker, friend, or teacher—someone who’s been quietly carrying too much for too long. One past recipient, after receiving unexpected support during a time of deep personal struggle, wrote:

SCAN TO NOMINATE

“We send a message: You are seen. You are loved. And you are not forgotten.”

“Beyond the very practical solution of receiving funds to fix my car, this thing you guys worked together to do is bigger than that. I carry the Christmas card you sent in my purse. When things get really hard, I pull it out and remember what it felt like to be seen. That card represents hope— that change for the better is possible. I’m not sure how many people get to carry hope around in their purse. But I do.”

Another wrote in after her husband was diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer and unable to work:

“This support has blessed our family not only financially, but emotionally and spiritually as we trust God to meet our needs throughout this difficult time. Thank you to our anonymous friend and to your foundation. What a joy and gift to be part of God’s family!”

Each year brings countless stories like these—real lives touched by simple acts of kindness. Some use the funds to pay overdue bills, others to afford groceries, medication, or repairs. But no matter the circumstance, the impact is the same: hope is restored.

This season, you have the opportunity to be part of that. The campaign is now open to nominations—completely confidential and prayerfully considered. Whether it’s someone battling illness, facing unemployment, or just in need of a helping hand, you can bring them a moment of grace that will ripple far beyond Christmas morning.

“Knowing my mom was chosen filled my heart with indescribable joy,” said another past recipient. “Your generosity doesn’t just brighten her life; it inspires hope and faith in all of us. It enables her to stay in her home and get back on her feet.”

Nominations are open from November 1st to December 5th, 2025. To submit someone you know, simply scan the QR code or visit @CityLifestyle on Instagram, where you’ll find the nomination form in the bio.

This holiday season, let’s give more than gifts. Let’s give each other the gift of being seen. Because sometimes, the smallest gesture becomes someone’s greatest miracle.

To nominate someone in need, visit: KingdomBuildingFoundation.org or scan the QR code.
