The Holidays are a time of giving and spending time with the ones we love. From cold winter nights to the snow falling, it is an exciting time when the leaves have fallen and the cold fronts appear. The fuzzy sweaters are on every shelf in the stores, and the kids are all bundled up to keep warm when the snow falls. Hot cider continues to be popular, and hot chocolate becomes everyone's go-to by the fire. Whether you decorate your house with hundreds of lights, giant silver bells, or bright red bows, it is the season of giving and time with loved ones. Another reason to celebrate during this season is for the new year on its way. Sometimes an overlooked holiday, New Years' Eve though only celebrated one day of the year, brings an exciting night of family, friends, and celebration for the year ahead. For the Holiday Issue, we are very excited to bring the community some healthy recipes, and DIY projects to help decorate your home for the winter season. From some delicious, healthy soups, and a simple holiday wreath project, to hosting a New Years' Eve Party, there are some helpful tips and ideas for starting new traditions with your friends and family. In this issue, we also provide a men's gift guide, a driver's notebook, and the local sledding hills for the holiday season. We are thankful to be celebrating the Holiday season once again, through gift-giving and spreading love and joy to the community.

DIY HOLIDAY WREATH THE PERFECT HOLIDAY, AND WINTER CRAFT
The perfect, easy, modern winter wreath to compliment any home this holiday season.
Supplies: • Round 18-inch wire or wood wreath frame • Florist wire • Winter greenery / or other greenery of choice • Small-large pinecones • White/silver spray paint • Hot glue gun • wire cutter/ scissors • (berry stems optional)
Steps: Step 1: Add winter greenery onto the wire frame - using floral wire, cut and place the greenery stems around the wreath until fully covered. Step 2: Add berry stems, or other desired foliage onto the wreath using either floral wire or a hot glue gun. Step 3: Add spray-painted pine cones, or natural pine cones onto the wreath using a hot glue gun. - spraying the pinecones with the white paint will give the wreath a frosted look! Step 4: Double check everything is secure, and that the glue is dried and cool. Step 5: Hang your beautiful new Winter Wreath in the desired location!

With all of the parties and events we are attending, it is great to come home and make an easy, warm, healthy meal for the whole family. Here are some soups to warm the soul, and have the kids asking for more.
BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP
WHITE CHICKEN CHILI
INGREDIENTS
INGREDIENTS

2 lb. cubed butternut squash 1 medium onion, cut into halves or wedges 4 peeled cloves of garlic 1 tsp. sea salt 1/4 tsp. black pepper 2 tbsp. avocado oil, or other oil (heat safe) 2 c. chicken broth or more, as needed 1 can (about 13 1/2 oz. size) of coconut milk, or 1 cup of heavy cream • Diced apple and crumbled, cooked bacon - optional
DIRECTIONS 01 Preheat oven to 425ºF. 02 Put squash, onion, and garlic cloves on a large baking sheet. Sprinkle with salt, and pepper, and drizzle over the top with oil. Hand toss everything to coat with oil and seasonings. 03 Roast for 35–40 minutes on a lower oven rack, tossing ingredients a couple of times throughout cooking 04 Transfer roasted items to a medium or large soup pot. Add chicken broth, and simmer. Let simmer for about 5 minutes and then blend with immersion blender until smooth. 05 Stir in coconut milk or cream. Add a little more salt, if needed, and as a nice touch: Top with diced apple and crumbled, cooked bacon, if desired.

1lb Chicken - rotisserie chicken, or left-over cooked chicken 2 tsp Garlic – fresh minced garlic. 1 cup onion 4 cups Chicken broth 3 oz Green chilies – mild, or hot for some spice, 1 mini can works well if preferred Cumin, Paprika, Oregano & Coriander – spices are always optional, but help add the extra spices! Cannellini Beans – white beans work well too 1 Cup Frozen Corn – canned corn will work too Package of cream cheese Lime – squeeze to your liking Cilantro – Add as much as you'd like Desired toppings – optional to add avocado, tortilla chips, and cheese.
DIRECTIONS 01 Heat olive oil in a 6-quart pot or pan over medium-high heat. 02 Add onion and saute for 4 minutes. 03 Add garlic and continue to sauté for about 30 seconds 04 Add chicken broth, green chilies, cumin, paprika, oregano, coriander, and cayenne pepper; season with salt and pepper to taste. 05 Bring mixture just to a boil then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 15 minutes 06 Drain and rinse beans in a fine mesh strainer or colander then measure out 1 cup. 07 Set whole beans aside, transfer 1 cup of beans to a food processor along with 1/4 cup broth from soup, and puree until nearly smooth. 08 Add cream cheese to soup along with corn, whole beans, and pureed beans and stir well. Simmer 5 – 10 minutes longer. 09 Stir in chicken, lime juice, and cilantro. Serve with cheese, more cilantro, avocado slices, and tortilla chips if desired, and enjoy. Foundation
NCMC Foundation rebrands as Weld Legacy Foundation Weld Legacy Foundation, previously known as North Colorado Medical Center Foundation, is the supporting Foundation for North Colorado Medical Center (NCMC) in Greeley. Following the sale of the hospital to Banner Health in 2019, the Foundation is expanding its menu of services. In addition to supporting programs, departments, and patients at NCMC, the Foundation will now be working with nonprofit organizations throughout Weld County that focus on health and education. To reflect its new direction, the Foundation changed its name to Weld Legacy Foundation to honor the past while looking toward the future. Weld Legacy Foundation was founded in 1975 to give Weld County residents the opportunity to support programs at the local hospital. In the nearly 50 years since the Foundation’s inception, Weld Legacy Foundation has raised more than $50 million for the community.

Honor Donors’ Legacy Weld Legacy Foundation will continue to support departments and patients at NCMC. Monies that have been donated to the Foundation for a specific intent, such as a program or scholarship, will continue to be used for that purpose. Any new donations made to Weld Legacy Foundation to be used for NCMC will stay in the community and be used as the donor intends.

Weld Legacy Foundation plans to offer services to nonprofits and schools in Weld County to increase their capacities and multiply the impact they have on their beneficiaries. Foundation staff members are working with a consultant to help identify the services nonprofits would find helpful. Those services are yet to be finalized but may include assistance with strategic planning, leadership development, and recruiting.
Weld Legacy Foundation will continue to raise money through fundraising events such as the Golf Tournament, Gala, and Turkey Trot. The Foundation’s 33rd Annual Gala was held in January 2022 with over 400 guests in attendance and raised over $220,000 in net proceeds. The Gala will be moving to a new date and location. It will be held in October 2023 at the DoubleTree by Hilton at Lincoln Park in Greeley.
Weld Legacy Foundation will join its supporting organization, The Weld Trust, in fulfilling the mission to promote excellence in health and education in Weld County. Through qualifying grants from The Weld Trust and tools and resources for building capacities from Weld Legacy Foundation, nonprofit organizations in Weld County will be able to multiply their impact for the citizens they serve.

Giving Campaign Now in its third year, the City Lifestyle Giving Campaign will give away $300,000 this holiday season to help individual community members who would benefit from a helping hand during their time of need. But they need YOUR HELP to make it happen! Maybe you know of a single parent struggling to provide, an elderly person who has experienced loss, a child enduring a health issue, a co-worker suffering a sudden, unexpected tragedy or a neighbor with a financial hardship who has fallen between the cracks of getting assistance. Chances are you know someone with a specific need—even if nobody else does. To preserve and protect the dignity of every recipient, the City Lifestyle Giving Campaign is completely confidential. No identities will be revealed or publicized in ANY way. (Even those who nominate others may remain anonymous if they choose.) Last year, City Lifestyle was able to give to more than 70 recipients all over the country by sending checks in the mail through New Year’s Eve. (This year, the goal is to double that number with checks ranging in amounts up to $3,000 each.) With nominations flooding in from community members and leaders such as judges, police officers, teachers, nurses, social workers, mentors and readers like you, we were able to reach people who might otherwise go unnoticed. “We believe in giving back and serving the communities where we live in a real and tangible way,” says Steven Schowengerdt, CEO and founder of City Lifestyle. “This Giving Campaign is all about personally impacting the lives of people we know with an unexpected check in the mail just to say that someone thought of them this holiday season.” Together with Matthew Perry, Chief Sales Officer, Steven adds that the outpouring and gratitude from the recipients was overwhelming and affirmed that this is a tradition they want to continue. “We believe God has blessed our company with continued success,” Matthew adds, “so we in turn want to be a blessing to others.” City Lifestyle has also enacted an internal giving program whereby every employee in the company receives $100 to give away to someone in the community. “The idea is to encourage our employees to keep doing it on their own,” Steven says. “Taking care of one another and blessing others is so rewarding that it perpetuates a cycle of giving. It’s extremely important to me as a person and as a company to foster that culture of generosity.”
