Letter from the Founding Publishers Morris City Lifestyle

Dear Readers, Friends, and Community Partners,

As we welcome you into the pages of our March Home & Design issue, our hearts are full of gratitude and a touch of bittersweet emotion. This issue marks the final one published under the founding leadership of John and Ana Meyer.

Five years ago, we launched this magazine with a simple but meaningful mission: to celebrate the people, places, and stories that make our local communities so special. Every month since, you welcomed us into your homes and your lives. That trust has been a true privilege.

We are endlessly grateful for our loyal readers and for the incredible advertising partners who believed in our vision and helped bring these pages to life. Along the way, we’ve built not just professional partnerships, but real friendships and those relationships will always remain one of the most meaningful parts of this journey.

This final issue is themed Home & Design , a fitting celebration of the beauty, craftsmanship, and inspiration found right here in our own backyard. We are proud to feature outstanding local talent including Bridget Catherine Interior Designer, Magnolia Home Remodeling Group, Cathy Maloney Mortgage Lender, and the One Day Doors and Closets of North Jersey showroom and design center. These professionals represent the very essence of what this magazine has always stood for: excellence, authenticity, and community connection.

While this is our farewell as publishers, it is also an exciting new beginning for the magazine. Starting with the April 2026 issue, the publication will continue under a new name, Greater Morristown City Lifestyle and with wonderful new publishers who will introduce themselves in the next issue.

What will not change is the ongoing commitment of the City Lifestyle brand to deliver high-quality, authentic, and locally rooted content to you, our valued readers.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives these past five years! Thank you for reading, for supporting local, for sharing your stories, and for building this community alongside us. We are deeply proud of what we’ve created together and excited for all the great things still to come!

With sincere gratitude,

THE ONEDAY HOME GLOW-UP

How custom doors and beautifully designed closets are transforming North Jersey homes— faster, cleaner, and more affordably than ever

Every home has potential—it just needs the right details to bring it to life. Homeowners are discovering a smarter, faster, and more impactful path to transformation: upgrading their interior doors and reimagining their storage spaces.

Showroom
3D Precision Door Measuring Technology

At the center of this design shift is One Day Doors and Closets of North Jersey, a locally owned showroom with national reach, redefining how we think about home upgrades. Their two signature offerings—custom interior doors installed in a single day, and personalized closet and organization systems—are helping homeowners achieve that elusive blend of beauty, function, and ease without the dust, disruption, or drawn-out timelines of traditional renovations.

The result? Homes that feel elevated, organized, and deeply personal—often in just a few hours.

WHY DOORS MATTER MORE THAN YOU THINK

Interior doors are one of the most visually consistent elements throughout a home. Every hallway, bedroom, bathroom, and closet is framed by a door. When those doors are outdated, hollow-core, or mismatched, the entire home can quietly feel tired—even if everything else has been updated.

Architect Ann Aznar puts it simply: “Walls define the size of a room. But doors define the style of the rooms. New up-to-date interior doors give your home an instant makeover and personality.”

That’s exactly the transformation One Day Doors and Closets delivers—quickly, precisely, and beautifully.

Homeowners can choose from more than 35 curated door styles, ranging from clean, modern panels to timeless shaker designs, elegant glass inserts, mirrored options, and more. Whether your home leans classic, contemporary, transitional, or farmhouse-inspired, there’s a style that complements your aesthetic. Add to that a wide range of hardware options—from matte black to satin nickel, from minimalist silhouettes to statement-making designs—and suddenly, every door becomes a design feature.

As Aznar notes, “Changing your interior doors and hardware elevates the interior of your home.”

A PROCESS THAT FEELS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE (BUT ISN’T)

What truly sets One Day Doors and Closets apart isn’t just how their doors look—it’s how the entire experience works.

Each project begins with advanced 3D measuring technology that captures precise dimensions throughout your home. Every door is then custom made to fit

“People are amazed when they hear we can replace all the interior doors in their home in less than a day.”

your space perfectly, eliminating the gaps, unevenness, and inconsistencies that often come with traditional replacements.

The doors are finished at the factory with a furniture-grade, baked-on paint finish—similar to what you’d find on high-end cabinetry. The result is a smooth, durable surface that feels luxurious to the touch.

Then comes the part homeowners love most: installation day.

Rather than weeks of disruption, lingering fumes, or construction chaos, most projects are completed in a single day—or just a few hours. The team removes your old doors and installs the new ones with white-glove precision. No mess. No stress.

Frank Segovia, project manager, explains, “People are amazed when they hear we can replace all the interior doors in their home in less than a day. It’s not magic. It’s meticulous planning and factory prep work that allows us

to deliver showroom-quality results in record time.”

Even better, this is widely considered the most affordable same-day makeover available for a home. Because the company operates with a streamlined, factory-direct process and eliminates middlemen, homeowners receive high-end, custom results at surprisingly accessible pricing.

It’s luxury—without the luxury timeline.

STEP INSIDE THE SHOWROOM: WHERE INSPIRATION BEGINS

For those who want to experience the possibilities in person, One Day Doors and Closets of North Jersey welcomes homeowners to their beautiful showroom at 60 Chapin Road in Pinebrook, NJ.

You can explore full-size door displays, compare styles side by side, test hardware in your hand, and see how different finishes look in real lighting. For closets

and organization systems, the showroom features samples of materials, colors, and accessories—allowing you to envision exactly how your future space will look and function.

Whether you walk in with a clear vision or simply a feeling that “something needs to change,” the design team guides you toward solutions that make sense for your home and your lifestyle.

THE OTHER HALF OF THE TRANSFORMATION: CLOSETS THAT CHANGE THE WAY YOU LIVE

While doors elevate what you see, custom closets and organization systems transform how you live.

Clutter has a way of creeping into daily life—overflowing shelves, tangled accessories, chaotic pantries, and overstuffed drawers. And even when it’s hidden behind closed doors, that disorder quietly impacts mood, energy, and routine.

Interior designer Nisha Varma describes it beautifully: “When your home is organized, your

mind follows. It’s one of the simplest forms of self-care—and one of the most overlooked.”

Each design begins with understanding how you live— your habits, routines, storage challenges, and goals. The result is a space that feels not just organized, but intuitive.

THE DESIGN DETAILS HOMEOWNERS ARE LOVING RIGHT NOW

Today’s custom closet systems blend form and function in ways that feel both practical and indulgent. Popular features include:

• Lighted shelving that creates a soft, upscale ambiance

• Built-in mirrors for seamless dressing

• Angled shoe shelves and boutique-style displays

• Manual and motorized wardrobe lifts for easy reach

“These small touches change the way you live every day,” Varma says. “They’re functional, beautiful, and incredibly satisfying.”

And when paired with upgraded doors throughout the home, the overall effect is cohesive, elevated, and unmistakably intentional. CONTINUED >

WHY HOMEOWNERS KEEP RECOMMENDING THEM

Beyond beautiful products, One Day Doors and Closets of North Jersey has built a reputation for exceptional service. Five-star reviews consistently highlight professionalism, cleanliness, communication, and craftsmanship.

One customer shared, “Great people, excellent customer service and top-notch products. They have a great set up that is not invasive and gets the job done very efficiently and the doors look amazing.”

Another noted, “We were impressed from the time we walked in their door. Every person we have had contact with is respectful, knowledgeable and comfortable to be around. And the doors are gorgeous!”

Nationally, the brand has been featured on HGTV, and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and recognized with multiple industry awards, including Best Door Installation Company.

Make your home, your budget—and your community—work for you

In a housing market where higher interest rates have made moving less appealing, more homeowners are choosing to stay put and reimagine the space they already love. At Magnolia Home Remodeling Group, that mindset isn’t a trend—it’s the foundation of how the company has served New Jersey families for decades.

Based in Union and family-owned and operated, Magnolia Home Remodeling Group has built its reputation on a simple but powerful belief: great remodeling should be accessible, transparent, and rooted in trust. With more than 30 years of experience and recognition as a top-rated New Jersey home improvement contractor—including being a proud recipient of the Angie’s List Super Service Award—the company continues to raise the bar for what homeowners can expect from a remodeling partner.

“We are not focused on the dollar amount of a project,” says co-owner Vic Fiore, who runs the company alongside his brother-inlaw, Chris Fontana. “We look at each project as an opportunity to build relationships so clients will consider us again. Whether it’s a small service or a large renovation, we want people to understand our process, feel comfortable, and know they’re in good hands. Performing at a high level with constant communication is how Magnolia grows.”

That philosophy is especially meaningful today, as more families seek to improve functionality without overextending financially. A kitchen remodel, for example, doesn’t need to be extravagant to be transformative. “We sit down with homeowners, understand their goals, and then determine what budget makes sense to achieve them,” Vic explains. “We’ll do whatever we can to make the project happen without sacrificing quality or details.”

The team’s approach is collaborative rather than prescriptive. Instead of pushing clients to stretch their budgets, Magnolia prioritizes comfort and clarity. “We’d rather clients stay within—or even below—their budget so they feel good about the project the entire way through,” Vic adds.

To further support homeowners who want to renovate rather than relocate, Magnolia offers convenient financing options. Clients can apply directly through the company, receive an instant decision, and take advantage of affordable monthly payment plans—often beginning after the work is completed. With no prepayment penalties, homeowners retain flexibility while gaining the ability to move forward with much-needed improvements.

From minor refreshes to full-scale transformations, Magnolia’s experienced team supports clients at every stage. Their professional installers—many of whom have worked with the company for years— are known for craftsmanship, consistency, and attention to detail. “We use installers who are tested and proven,” Vic says. “Everyone involved truly cares about the finished product.”

The scope of Magnolia’s services is equally comprehensive. The company specializes in both interior and exterior remodeling, offering roofing, siding, windows, kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and additions, as well as hardscape, outdoor living spaces, porches, patios, and more. They also provide a range of affordable product options to suit different budgets without compromising quality. In a competitive industry that evolves quickly, Magnolia remains committed to staying current with new products, techniques, and processes—ensuring clients benefit from both innovation and experience. That commitment to excellence is reflected in the voices of their clients. “Magnolia Home Remodeling did an outstanding job remodeling my kitchen and living room,” shares Laurie Wigfall in a 5-star Google review. “The team was professional, punctual, and paid attention to every detail. They kept me updated throughout the entire process and made sure the work was done exactly how I

A TOP-RATED NEW JERSEY HOME IMPROVEMENT CONTRACTOR

With over 30 years of experience, Magnolia Home Remodeling Group is the top home remodeling and renovation contractor in New Jersey.  Specializing in interior and exterior remodeling, they offer affordable product options to fit any budget.  Fully insured, family-owned, and operated business, they are proud winners of the Angie's List Super Service Award.

“We sit down with homeowners, understand their goals, and then determine what budget makes sense to achieve them,” Vic explains

envisioned it. My home looks beautiful, modern, and so much more functional. I would recommend Magnolia to anyone looking for high-quality remodeling work.” For Vic and Chris, that kind of feedback reinforces everything they strive to deliver: communication, craftsmanship, and care.

But Magnolia’s impact extends well beyond the homes they renovate. Giving back is deeply woven into the company’s culture. Through partnerships with George to the Rescue and the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Magnolia has donated its time, labor, and expertise to help families facing extraordinary challenges.

Their work with George to the Rescue began over five years ago, when they were called to help a Union Township family who had experienced an unimaginable loss. Magnolia donated a full bathroom renovation and transformed a young boy’s bedroom, offering not just improved spaces, but comfort and dignity during a painful time. “That was our first project with George,” Chris recalls. “It stayed with us.”

Since then, Magnolia has also partnered with Make-A-Wish on multiple projects, including remodeling a bedroom for a young girl in Newark and completing a bathroom renovation for a teenager in Little Falls whose wish was simply to provide his family with a safe, functional space. “Giving back to families facing tough times is incredibly rewarding,” Vic says. “It reminds us why we do what we do.”

At its core, Magnolia Home Remodeling Group is about more than construction. It’s about helping homeowners stay where their memories live, making thoughtful investments in the spaces that support daily life, and contributing meaningfully to the community they serve.

For those ready to reimagine their home without relocating, Magnolia offers experience, integrity, and heart. Learn more at MagnoliaHomeRemodeling.com.

REDEFINING THE MORTGAGE EXPERIENCE FOR BUYERS

In today’s dynamic housing market, navigating home financing can feel complex—even for experienced buyers. That’s why having the right mortgage expert isn’t just helpful, it’s essential. Cathy Maloney, a respected local mortgage lender with deep community roots, is known for simplifying the process while helping clients move forward with clarity and confidence.

Unlike the impersonal approach of online lenders and call centers, Cathy delivers a highly personalized experience. Whether you’re buying your first home, refinancing, managing credit challenges, or preparing for your next move, she offers tailored strategies that align with each client’s unique goals.

We spoke with Cathy about her approach to lending, the value of working with a local expert, and how innovative new programs are reshaping the homebuying journey.

EMPOWERING FIRST-TIME BUYERS THROUGH EDUCATION

For first-time buyers, the process can feel intimidating. Cathy believes education is the foundation of confidence.

Cathy Maloney

“My role is to make sure clients fully understand every step,” she explains. “When buyers feel informed, the experience becomes exciting instead of overwhelming.”

She prioritizes clear communication and availability, ensuring her clients never feel left in the dark. Just as important, she works closely with real estate agents and attorneys to create a cohesive, supportive team.

BUY BEFORE YOU SELL: A SMARTER WAY TO MOVE

One of the biggest challenges homeowners face is timing the sale of their current home with the purchase of their next one. Cathy is now offering a powerful solution that’s changing the experience entirely: the Buy Before You Sell program.

This innovative option allows homeowners to unlock the equity in their existing home and use it toward the down payment on their

next purchase—before listing their current property. Clients can make strong, non-contingent offers, move once, and sell their home later on their own timeline.

“Your home equity shouldn’t hold you back,” Cathy explains. “This program gives clients flexibility, control, and the ability to compete confidently in competitive markets.”

For growing families, downsizers, and move-up buyers alike, the program offers a smoother, calmer transition. Instead of rushing to sell or juggling temporary housing, homeowners gain the freedom to make thoughtful decisions without pressure.

GUIDING CLIENTS THROUGH LIFE’S TRANSITIONS

Cathy’s impact extends beyond standard transactions. She’s widely trusted for her ability to guide clients through complex life moments, including separation and divorce.

CONTINUED >

“These situations require empathy and clarity,” she says. “By understanding the full picture and offering the right mortgage options, I can provide stability during an otherwise uncertain time.”

Her client relationships span generations. “When parents refer their children, or adult children refer their parents, it’s incredibly meaningful. It tells me they felt supported and cared for.”

“I TAKE THE TIME TO UNDERSTAND EACH CLIENT’S COMPLETE FINANCIAL PICTURE SO I CAN RECOMMEND THE BEST PROGRAMS AND STRATEGIES,” SHE EXPLAINS. “MY CLIENTS KNOW I’M ACCESSIBLE, HONEST, AND FULLY INVESTED IN THEIR SUCCESS.”

WHAT TRULY SETS CATHY APART

Cathy’s approach is rooted in understanding the whole person—not just the loan.

“I take the time to understand each client’s complete financial picture so I can recommend the best programs and strategies,” she explains. “My clients know I’m accessible, honest, and fully invested in their success.”

Trust is the foundation of her business. “Referrals are everything. They represent relationships built on integrity and results.”

PREPARING FOR SUCCESS

Her advice for prospective buyers and refinancers is both practical and empowering: begin early.

“A soft credit pull can identify opportunities for improvement before house hunting begins,” Cathy says. “And getting pre-approved provides confidence and clarity when it’s time to make an offer.”

This proactive approach helps clients feel prepared rather than rushed.

A MORTGAGE PARTNER YOU CAN TRUST

Cathy Maloney’s blend of expertise, accessibility, and genuine care has earned her a reputation as a trusted partner across all stages of homeownership. From first-time buyers to seasoned homeowners—and from traditional mortgages to innovative solutions like Buy Before You Sell—she continues to redefine what exceptional mortgage guidance looks like. BRIDGET Catherine INTERIORS

Creating spaces that make people happy

Bridget Catherine Feeney’s interest in interior design was originally inspired by her childhood home. “My mom always had a beautiful, warm, welcoming home, and it instilled that idea that your environment, your space, really does affect your daily life,” she says. “It taught me how important it is to have a space that is beautiful and a reflection of you, and something that not only looks great, but functions great.”

After obtaining her degree in interior design, Bridget spent eight years building her reputation in high-end residential design. This year, she founded Bridget Catherine Interiors in Randolph in order to put her own stamp on the design world and assist clients in the best way possible. “I feel like you get into this field to put your designs out there and to help your clients live in spaces that are truly their own, a reflection of them.”

One task she enjoys the most is putting her clients at ease. “When I walk into an initial meeting with a client, they’re always so overwhelmed and don’t know where to start,” says Bridget. “I see the panic, and I’m there to relieve that panic and make designing their home a more fun and enjoyable process. I like to pride myself on the fact that I am a little bit more relaxed and lighthearted, which I believe helps with taking that stress away.”

Whether a project involves one room or completely new construction, she takes the time to carefully listen to her clients’ wishes. “It’s not my home; they’re the ones living there, and at the

end of the day, I want them to be perfectly happy. So listening to their wants, their needs, and looking at their taste and their style is important to make sure that the end product is exactly what they need, what they want, and what they envisioned.”

Bridget is currently helping to create the perfect home for a growing family that has relocated from Florida to Summit and is starting from scratch. “I love having the opportunity to touch on every space throughout a home as it creates a sense of continuity and leaves no detail untouched,” she says. “I’m so excited to welcome this family to the area with a home that is perfectly them.”   Other recent projects include a modern farmhouse in West Milford, a new construction project on the outskirts of Pittsburgh, and a bedroom refresh for a client in Bridgewater.

While Bridget is the primary contact on every project, she has assembled a team of trusted tradespeople and vendors with whom she collaborates on each project. “Nobody’s coming in out of the blue; everybody has been vetted and is trusted,” she says.

Following in her mother’s footsteps, Bridget’s own home, which she shares with her dog Bailey, the company’s mascot, is both comfortable and functional. “I love a cozy space,” she says. “I’m very textural, I’m very warm-toned. I do love a lot of neutrals, but I have pops of color throughout. I just like to feel at ease when I’m in my space, and I love walking in and feeling like my house is giving me a hug.”

“When I walk into an initial meeting with a client, they're always so overwhelmed and don't know where to start.”
Bridget Catherine Feeney, Interior Designer

In addition to being a new business owner, Bridget is also excited about another new role she will soon take on. “I’m one of three girls, and by the time this article comes out, I’ll be an aunt!” she says.

TONE + TEXTURE

STYLE YOUR HOME IN TONES AND TEXTURES WITH DESIGN HELP FROM HOUZZ INTERIOR DESIGN EXPERTS

WOVEN + KNOTTED

LIVING BOHO-CHIC WITH WOVEN TEXTURES AND MACRAMÉ

Decorate your space with handmade textures such as the modern, maker revival of 1970s macramé and year-round tropical feel of wicker. MACRAMÉ Made through knotting instead of weaving, macramé can add a unique touch in many various ways. Houzz contributor Laura Gaskill suggests incorporating it as nursery decor, plant hangers, wall hangings and modern fiber arts. WICKER According to Houzz contributor Yanic Simard, “the best way to really embrace the luxury-cottage appeal of wicker and rattan is to combine different forms of the two in one space... Look for other unexpected places to add a natural twist to your home with a new material woven into your palette.”

AGAINST THE GRAIN

TIPS FOR DECORATING WITH NATURAL MATERIALS

Houzz contributor Katie Treggiden offers many ways to incorporate natural materials and natural-state timber into your home, including using wood to cover one wall in a home for a pleasing accent wall; featuring your firewood as a striking, stacked display; and mixing different types of wood and different finishes in the same space. “A simple way to incorporate the wood trend is to expose structural wooden beams already present in your home,” Katie says. “Instead of painting them or boxing them in, leave them raw or give them a coat of wax to enrich the tones.”

BRIGHTS + WHITES

ADDING TASTEFUL POPS OF COLOR TO YOUR WHITE ROOM

Do you feel like your all-white room is missing something? Houzz contributor Kelly Porter bets what’s missing is energy.

“The best way to add a spark to any space,” she says, “is with bright color.”

Kelly says green is one of the easiest colors to live with, looking organic even in its more vivid tones.

“When searching for the perfect bright green, think springtime—fresh green grass and newly sprouted leaves,” she says. “These greens have lively undertones that will look comfortable and warm in your white space.

Other colors Kelly recommends adding as accents are yellow, royal blue, orange, blue-purple, red-purple and sky blue.

MID-CENTURY WARMTH, REIMAGINED

There’s a certain moment when a house stops feeling new and starts feeling like home. It isn’t marked by square footage or finishes alone. It is something quieter, more emotional. In this home, designer Kate Manz set out to do exactly that: give a newly built home a heartbeat and a soul.

Rather than treating the house as one sweeping statement, she approached each room as its own story, layered with meaning, memory, and texture. The result is a home that feels collected, personal, and deeply lived-in.

“Tackling each space and room as its own story and concept is how to make a new space feel personal,” Manz explains. “But bringing it all together cohesively is always the challenge.”

Her solution? Warmth, intention, and a strong belief in the power of people. In new builds it can take years for a home to shed its newness. For this project, the goal was to fast-track that sense of belonging by layering in pieces with history and heart. Vintage market finds, local artists, and meaningful objects play a starring role throughout the home.

“My love for design goes hand in hand with the people and stories that bring it to life,” she says. “I absolutely love seeing the evolution from concept to completion and all the elements and people that help bring those ideas to reality.”

That philosophy becomes especially important in the home’s expansive open-concept living area, where scale could easily overpower intimacy.

ENTRYWAY: A WARM WELCOME

The entryway sets the tone with a simple but powerful goal: Welcome to my home.

Natural stone underfoot grounds the space, while a soft vintage rug and living greenery immediately soften the experience. Art with personal meaning invites guests to linger rather than rush through.

DESIGN TAKEAWAY:

In large rooms, architectural details like niches, built-ins, or material changes can create visual rhythm while giving meaningful objects a true home.

THE OPEN CONCEPT, REIMAGINED

The main living space is defined by bringing the outside in with sweeping outdoor views and generous proportions. Rather than fighting that openness, embrace it.

“The big open concept room really highlights the expansive outdoor views,” she says, “but making intimate spaces within that open room was really important.”

A layered niche wall, created in collaboration with the interior architect Nick Flower, brings both structure and softness to the room. It introduces texture, depth, and a place for unique objects and family heirlooms to live, turning negative space into a personal gallery.

An entryway doesn’t need to be loud to be memorable. Combine tactile materials with one or two meaningful elements to create an instant emotional connection.

POWDER BATH: SMALL ROOM, BOLD SPIRIT

If there’s one place Manz encourages clients to take risks, it’s the powder room. Here, she leaned into terracotta earth tones, layering textures and tile sizes for visual interest and warmth. Patterned and solid tiles work together, while textured wall coverings and a sculptural stone sink elevate the space from functional to delightful.

LOUNGE: A STUDY IN CALM AND DEPTH

Designed as a counterpoint to the openness of the main living area, the lounge is a cocoon, both peaceful, layered, and deeply versatile. It’s a place for reading, movie nights and slow mornings. Rich tones and varied textures do the heavy lifting here, creating depth without heaviness. Soft lighting and custom upholstery make the room feel both intentional and effortless.

MATERIALS:

DESIGN TAKEAWAY:

When a room serves many purposes, let texture and tone create cohesion. A restrained palette with varied finishes keeps the space flexible and serene.

At its core, this home is a reminder that design isn’t about perfection, but rather it’s about feeling. By treating each room as its own narrative while weaving in warmth, history, and human connection, a space was created that already feels loved.
