Forbes/SHOOK Research listings are based on data compiled by many of the nation’s most productive advisors, selected by their firms, which is then submitted to and judged by SHOOK Research. Key factors and criteria include: assets under management, revenue produced for the firm, regulatory and compliance record, and credentials/years of professional experience. Selection of winners is done by comparing advisors at a national level, selecting winners, and then sorting them into state-specific lists. A separate evaluation is not done for each state. Portfolio performance is not a factor. This award is not indicative of this advisor’s future performance. Neither Forbes nor SHOOK Research receives compensation in exchange for placement on the ranking. Gary Perrelli | gary.perrelli@lifestylepubs.com EDITOR
Happy Anniversary to us! GLASTONBURY LIFESTYLE MAGAZINE IS A YEAR OLD. It was a year ago this month we launched our maiden issue and, whew, what a wild a ride it was to that launch! In the publishing world, monthly magazines are typically produced at least two months ahead of time and as a new magazine we started planning our launch

issue in February of 2020. But within a month the Coronavirus had shut down the entire country and we were left wondering how we could overcome such cataclysmic events. Somehow, we did it, amazing even ourselves at the tenacity and temerity of this venture. We couldn’t have done it without the help of our amazing community partners who, like us, have fought through the adversities of this past year and survived. Our hats off to you all. I also want to recognize the Glastonbury Lifestyle Team, Eileen (our Editor) and Carrie (our Photographer) for their guidance, dedication and flexibity throughout the year. They are the heart and soul of our publication and a pleasure to work with. With a nod to Mother’s Day, May is our Women’s Issue, and this month we pay homage to women in business with our Women of Glen Lochen article. The shopping center/office park, originally built in 1975, has 30 small businesses, the majority of them either owned or managed by women. Our cover photo, shot inside the lobby of Glen Lochen by Glastonbury’s Carrie Draghi Photography, was a true group effort and features several of the women business owners and operators that we feature this month.

Also in this issue, we spoke with the owner of Touch of Glamour about the growing popularity of medical spas and the services Touch of Glamour offers clients who want the ultimate confidence boost of looking years younger. because you don’t lose your patio on a rainy day, and on a windy days you have side panels shielding patrons”. A Vietnam-era veteran, Bob started his company in Glastonbury in the mid-1980s after moving here. As a home remodeler, he branched out into installing awnings after several homeowners would ask how best to provide shade over the new decks he installed on their homes - "We love the deck, but it's just too hot!" The Awning Place was the first company to bring retractable arm awning systems into the Hartford area and they were so popular that in February of 1988 the company shifted focus to concentrate primarily on residential deck awnings. Today, Awning Place Inc., is headquartered at 273 Eastern Blvd in Glastonbury and has offices in Cheshire and Clinton. Family owned and operated, Bob’s wife, Doris works in the Glastonbury and Cheshire offices and his brother, Ronn, works out of Glastonbury and handles all the installations. His son, Adam, also works in Glastonbury and handles all the marketing. Their nephew, Scott, works as the main sales person out of the Clinton office, handling all shoreline customers. Bob takes pride in his company’s deep roots here and the personal service he and his employees provide its customers.
