FRISCO EDUCATION FOUNDATION

As spring arrives in Frisco, there is a renewed sense of momentum in the air. This April, Frisco City Lifestyle Magazine is proud to present our “Invest in Frisco” issue, a celebration of the people, projects and possibilities shaping the future of our thriving community.

Investment in Frisco takes many forms. It is found in visionary development, in educational excellence and in the bold leadership that continues to set our city apart. Few announcements have generated as much excitement as the arrival of Universal Kids Resort. Designed as a first of its kind theme park experience created especially for families with young children, this transformative project represents more than entertainment. It signals confidence in Frisco’s growth, vitality and national appeal. The impact will be felt across our local economy, from hospitality and retail to job creation and infrastructure.
But investing in Frisco is not only about new attractions. It is also about investing in our students, educators and future workforce. The Frisco Education Foundation continues to make an extraordinary difference by funding innovative classroom grants, student scholarships and programs that empower the next generation of leaders. Their commitment ensures that as our city expands, the quality of education remains exceptional. Strong schools are one of the most meaningful investments any community can make.
Growth also shapes our housing market. In this issue, local expert Lori Vaden West of Compass Real Estate shares her Real Estate Outlook for Frisco, offering insight into market trends and long term value. Her perspective highlights why real estate remains one of the most significant ways individuals and families invest in our community.
At its heart, this issue is about confidence, confidence in our leadership, our schools, our businesses and our neighbors. Frisco continues to attract families, entrepreneurs and innovators because it offers opportunity grounded in community.
Thank you for being part of the story. Thank you for choosing to invest your time, your talents and your trust right here in Frisco.
Here’s to a season of growth and to a future that is brighter than ever.
As always, thank you for reading and we'll see you around town!

In a housing market where smart updates matter, homeowners are paying closer attention to the details that quietly transform a space. Few upgrades feel as immediate, or as lasting, as custom glass. At Shower Doors of Texas, that belief has shaped more than three decades of work across the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex.
ARTICLE BY ALEXIS JACOBS PHOTOGRAPHY BY SHOWER DOORS OF TEXAS
Based in McKinney, Shower Doors of Texas is a family-owned and veteran-supported company built on specialized craftsmanship. The team focuses exclusively on shower doors and architectural glass, a decision that has allowed them to refine their process and reputation over time. “We were

founded on the principle of providing high-quality, specialized glass craftsmanship to DFW,” says Steve Hood, Owner of Shower Doors of Texas. “We don’t try to be everything. We focus on glass, and we do it well.”
Many remodelers treat shower doors as an add-on, but Shower Doors of Texas built its business around them. The company specializes in frameless and semi-frameless enclosures, including its signature Premium Bronze Showers. Beyond the bathroom, the team also installs architectural glass such as wine rooms, office partitions, railings, mirrors, cabinet glass, and protective tabletops.
According to Steve, the difference begins before a single panel of glass is cut. “We act as consultants rather than just installers,” he explains. “We look at the layout, the lighting, the hardware that’s already in the room. We want the glass to enhance the space, not just fit into it.”
That consultative mindset has become increasingly important as homeowners look to invest strategically. Rather than gutting an entire bathroom, many are choosing targeted upgrades that modernize a space without a full renovation.
A custom frameless shower door is often described as a subtle change, but the impact is immediate. Removing bulky metal frames opens the room visually, allowing tile work, stone, and lighting to take center stage.
“A custom frameless door is like an invisible renovation,” says Steve. “It makes the bathroom feel larger and brighter right away.”
Frameless enclosures use ½-inch or ⅜-inch tempered glass for a clean, durable look. Clear is most popular, but options include satin, rain, obscure, and ultra-clear low-iron glass, which works especially well in white or light bathrooms by minimizing the green tint found in standard glass.

Beyond aesthetics, the functional value matters. Shower Doors of Texas custom-measures every opening, accounting for out-of-plumb walls and subtle tile variations. That precision results in smoother operation, fewer leaks, and a longer-lasting installation compared to retail shower kits.
“Bathrooms are one of the most important rooms in a home for resale,” notes Steve. “Upgrading from a curtain or dated framed unit to custom glass is one of the most impactful mini renovations you can do.”
Balancing style with durability is central to the company’s philosophy. Heavy-duty hinges, minimal hardware, and proper glass thickness ensure longterm safety and performance. The team also recommends protective coatings that repel water and reduce soap scum buildup.
“We believe beauty shouldn’t be high maintenance,” explains Steve. “When we suggest a product, we’re thinking about how it will perform five or ten years from now.”
That long-term view extends to warranty coverage. Shower Doors of Texas offers a lifetime warranty on its installations, an assurance that reflects confidence in both materials and workmanship.

Two qualities set the company apart in North Texas: specialization and speed.
Because the team does not handle general remodeling, every department focuses solely on glass. That streamlined expertise allows for an efficient turnaround, typically moving from measurement to final installation in just seven to ten business days.
“We understand that once a bathroom is ready, homeowners don’t want to wait weeks for glass,” says Steve. “Our process is designed to be precise but also efficient.”
Shower enclosures are still the foundation of the business, but architectural glass projects are on the rise. Custom wine rooms, sealed for proper temperature control, are popular in homes and commercial spaces alike. Glass-to-glass hinged doors create centered entries, while barn-style sliders offer a smart solution for tighter layouts.
Custom mirrors are another key service. From beveled vanity mirrors to gym and full-length closet installations, each piece is cut to size and finished with polished or decorative edges. Cabinet glass, railings, and tabletops complete a lineup focused on clean design and everyday function.
“Our goal is to make the process simple,” says Steve. “Whether it’s a complex wine room or a single mirror, you’re going to get the same level of care.”

Home improvement trends may shift, but thoughtful upgrades continue to hold value. Glass, when measured and installed correctly, has a way of elevating a space without overwhelming it.
For Shower Doors of Texas, the mission remains straightforward. Deliver quality craftsmanship with personal service. As a locally rooted business, the team views each project as part of a larger community relationship.
“When neighbors call us, they’re supporting a local, family-oriented company,” says Steve. “We take immense pride in our craft. And we stand behind everything we do.”

In 1999, Dr. Rick Reedy, then superintendent of Frisco Independent School District, envisioned a stronger connection between the district and the broader community by investing in graduating seniors and empowering innovative educators. Drawing inspiration from school districts across Texas, he spearheaded the creation of the Frisco Education Foundation. Since its founding, FEF has awarded more than $11 million in scholarships to Frisco ISD seniors and over $1.1 million in classroom grants to support “Great Ideas” in action. Dr. Reedy’s belief in community involvement and support remains a cornerstone of the district’s educational success.
Under the leadership of Executive Director Ashley Sine, FEF operates through four key programs. First, the foundation provides scholarships to Frisco ISD graduating seniors. In 2025, FEF awarded $801,325 in scholarships to 882 students representing all 12 Frisco ISD high schools. The application opens each December and depends on a dedicated team of 250 to 300 volunteers who read and score submissions. Scholarships are funded by more than 100 endowments and donors, each with its own criteria. Some awards focus on academic achievement, others on the arts, and several support specific career paths and fields of study.
FEF’s second priority is providing grants that enhance classroom learning and expand curriculum opportunities. In 2025, $92,129 in education grants were awarded to teachers across the district. The application process opens in May, with grants awarded in November for implementation within
the same school year. Applications are reviewed by fellow educators and district administrators. Community partners such as Frisco Garden Club, Frisco Fine Arts, Frisco Police Department, and local businesses are invited to invest in grants that align with their missions.
Sine shared the story of a high school life skills teacher who applied for KitchenAid mixers for her classroom. When the FEF team visited, they discovered multiple kitchen stations, similar to a science lab, and realized each station needed its own mixer. Supporting requests like these helps fill resource gaps and fuels creativity for both educators and students.
Mind Bender camps were among the first programs launched beyond scholarships and grants. These camps invite students to explore STEAM through engaging, hands-on experiences. Originally created by a Leadership Frisco class, the program serves sixth, seventh, and eighth graders during a weeklong summer camp that extends learning beyond the classroom. The I/E Entrepreneur Camp, designed for fourth, fifth, and sixth graders, introduces students to entrepreneurship. Participants work alongside community business leaders to learn practical skills for starting a venture.
“You would be surprised how smart these kids are and how quickly they grasp business fundamentals,” Sine shared. The 2026 camps will be held June 1 through June 4, with registration available on the FEF website.
INCubator, the foundation’s fourth program, offers students an authentic entrepreneurship experience. The initiative transforms the traditional high school classroom into a collaborative environment centered on project-based learning. Local entrepreneurs and business professionals serve as volunteer coaches and mentors, guiding students as they develop, test, refine, and improve their business concepts. FEF also provides seed funding to help qualifying teams take the next step.
“FEF has awarded more than $11 million in scholarships to Frisco ISD seniors and over $1.1 million in classroom grants”
Former Frisco City Manager George Purefoy once noted, “What’s good for the schools is good for the city.” As Frisco has flourished, so have its schools and the Frisco Education Foundation.
This spring, FEF will host its largest fundraising event, the annual gala A Night to Inspire , on April 10 at Omni PGA Frisco Resort. Community members are encouraged to support the foundation by attending or sponsoring the event. Tickets and sponsorship information are available at FriscoEF.org.

An exclusive Q&A with City Lifestyle

ARTICLE BY ANGELA BROOCKERD

From championship trophies to global humanitarian impact, Tim Tebow’s journey has defied every standard playbook. In an exclusive conversation for the Share the Lifestyle podcast, Tebow pulls back the curtain on the moments that truly defined him, from a humbling middle school church retreat to the life-altering shift of fatherhood. This isn’t just a look back at a career; it’s an invitation into the heart of a man driven by purpose. Read the highlights below, then join us for the full, unfiltered experience by scanning the QR code at the end.

Q: WE ALL KNOW YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS ON THE FOOTBALL FIELD, BUT TELL US ABOUT THE CURL CONTEST.
A: I was competing for my future high school team (my brother’s team), and I pushed myself way past what was smart. I ended up collapsing and needing medical attention. But what stayed with me wasn’t the pain, it was the lesson. Would I be willing to do something that others aren’t? For much of my life, I strived to bring my best for a game, but I hope that I can say at the end of my life I was willing to do that for things that actually matter.
Q: YOU’VE ACHIEVED SO MUCH IN SPORTS. WHAT WOULD YOU SAY IS YOUR GREATEST ACCOMPLISHMENT NOW?
A: Becoming a dad. Nothing compares. From the moment I knew my wife was pregnant, I felt a new depth of love for our child, but when you bring your baby home, the responsibility hits you like nothing else. Suddenly, everything you see, every decision you make, you’re asking, “Is this corner too sharp? What happens if she reaches that drawer?” It changes how you see the world and how you see other people.
Q: YOU’VE SPOKEN OPENLY ABOUT DISAPPOINTMENT, ESPECIALLY AROUND FOOTBALL. HOW DID THAT SEASON OF LIFE SHAPE YOU?
A: I talked a lot about that very thing in my book Shaken . We all go through moments where our faith in our abilities and purpose feels rattled, but I believe it’s often in those storms when God can show us who we could become.
Q: YOU TALK A LOT ABOUT COMPARISON CULTURE. WHY DO YOU BELIEVE COMPARISON HAS BECOME SUCH A TRAP TODAY?
A: Because we’re comparing our real, everyday lives to someone else’s highlight reel. Social media shows people’s “best day,” often filtered and staged, and then we measure our reality against that. There’s a reason filters are so popular—it’s not real. We end up scrolling through images that don’t tell the full story, and without realizing it, comparison starts to steal our joy and our gratitude.
“We’re comparing our real, everyday lives to someone else’s highlight reel... comparison starts to steal our joy.”
Q: YOUR FOUNDATION FOCUSES ON THE “MOST VULNERABLE.” WHERE DID THAT CALLING BEGIN?
A: When I was 15, I met a boy in the Philippines who was treated as a throwaway because he was born with physical differences. That moment changed me. I realized God was calling me to pursue a different kind of MVP, not “Most Valuable Player,” but “Most Vulnerable People.”
Q: FINALLY, WHAT’S ONE THING PEOPLE MIGHT BE SURPRISED TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?
A: I have some weird coffee habits, which include protein powder, collagen, and cream all mixed together. I love golf dates with my wife. And every night, I bring snacks to bed to share with our dogs. It brings me more joy than it probably should.
This conversation barely scratches the surface. Tim goes deeper into the moments that rattled him, the joys of fatherhood, and one story he has never shared publicly until now. Scan the QR code for the full, exclusive City Lifestyle interview on Share the Lifestyle Podcast.

For the past several years, the housing market has tested buyers in ways not seen in modern history. What began as a period of historically low interest rates quickly shifted into one of the toughest affordability environments on record. In 2021, mortgage rates climbed from the 3 percent range to over 7 percent. That dramatic increase pushed the typical monthly mortgage payment up by roughly $1,000. For many households, that single change marked the difference between comfortably purchasing a home and being priced out entirely.
When interest rates double, affordability does not simply tighten. It constricts. Buyers qualify for less home, monthly payments stretch budgets thin, and many potential homeowners pause their plans. At the same time, home prices remained elevated due to limited inventory. The result was a market defined by high payments, cautious buyers, and widespread uncertainty.
Now, we are beginning to see meaningful shifts. Mortgage rates are currently at their lowest levels in the past three years. Over the last year alone, rates have declined by

a full percentage point. While that may not seem significant at first glance, even a one-point drop creates a powerful ripple effect. Nationally, this reduction expands the pool of households able to qualify for a mortgage by approximately 5.5 million. Among them are an estimated 1.6 million renters who may now have a pathway to homeownership for the first time.
Of course, not every newly qualified household will move forward with a purchase. Historically, about 10 percent of newly eligible buyers take that step. If that pattern holds, the market could see roughly 550,000 additional home purchases in 2026, providing a meaningful boost to overall housing activity.
Looking ahead, sustained affordability improvements will likely depend on three key factors working together: continued moderation in interest rates, rising household incomes, and reasonable home price adjustments. We are currently witnessing a market reset. Inventory has increased over the past year, giving buyers more options and more time to make decisions. When homes sit longer or
are withdrawn from the market, it can create the appearance of instability. In reality, what we are seeing is stabilization after an unprecedented surge in demand and pricing.
Housing markets rarely change overnight. However, the current trajectory suggests a shift away from peak strain and toward greater balance. For renters considering their first home and move-up buyers who have remained on the sidelines, the coming year may offer renewed opportunity.
After years of pressure, relief may finally be taking shape. Not through dramatic swings, but through steady, measurable progress that restores confidence and gradually expands access to homeownership once again. To learn more, visit LoriVadenWest.com
