Speed Limits Lowered On Coit Road, Dallas Parkway Frisco city officials unanimously voted to lower speed limits from 50 mph to 45 mph on sections of Coit Road and Dallas Parkway. The speed change on Dallas from Main Street to SH 121 and on Coit from US 380 to Panther Creek Parkway went into immediate effect. New roadway construction and updated speed studies led city staff to recommend the new speed limits presented to the council, according to meeting documents.
Future Frisco Park Has Name, Supporting Foundation An upcoming 5.7-acre park located near Dallas North Tollway/Warren Parkway was named and a park foundation was formed, according to a Communities Foundation of Texas news release. Kaleidoscope Park, located within the Hall Park office district in Frisco, is slated to open in late 2023. The park will feature free year-round public programming including weekly films, concerts, fitness/well-being activities and performances. Leadership Frisco is a nine-month community leadership program sponsored by the Frisco Chamber of Commerce, and led by a volunteer group of past graduates known as the Leadership Frisco Advisory Council. The purpose of the Leadership Frisco program is to develop a pool of qualified, highly motivated individuals interested in expanding their leadership skills, deepening their sense of civic responsibility, and becoming more involved in the Frisco community. During the program year, a full day each month is dedicated to exploring the inner workings of Frisco’s government, educational system, economic development, service organizations, regional issues, leisure and culture, health services, and public safety. Thanksgiving C or nuc opi a How To Decorate Tables With Noteworthy November Flair
Whether traditional or modern, formal or fuss-free Thanksgiving centerpieces set a memorable ambiance for November gatherings. Make an edible bread cornucopia, 'horn of plenty,' for the Thanksgiving table using refrigerated bread or pizza dough, a plastic bottle mold and aluminum foil. Wrap the bottle with foil, make a tail at one end and then layer adjoining strips of dough on the foil. Brush cornucopia with melted butter, remove the plastic bottle and bake at 350 F for 25 to 30 minutes on the lower rack, or until it turns a golden, shiny brown. Fill with sweet or savory nibbles, such as fresh fruits, vegetables, gourds, nuts, rosemary breadstick twists or even cookies, for an impressive centerpiece that’ll keep guests happily munching while they wait for the main meal to begin. Or, get inspired from the following ideas and have fun creating a centerpiece completely customized.

Slice and fill real squashes with floral foam to hold classic fall flowers, such as mums, pompom daisies and dahlias.

For a pop of color on Thanksgiving tables, a large turquoise or pink pumpkin goes a long way.

For a cranberry-filled vase, place a smaller glass cylinder inside a larger one, then pour fresh cranberries into the gap between the two vases. For flowers, mix a few grocery-store blooms with dried millet and faux dill blooms, or silk and dried flowers.
•
An old dough bowl or wood trencher makes a great low centerpiece when filled with seasonal pumpkins, gourds, pinecones and flowering branches.
•
Fill a stoneware sugar bowl with seeded eucalyptus, chrysanthemums and pears.
•
Use one or a nest of baskets, floral foam and some blooms to craft a themed stunner.
•
Incorporate family heirlooms by using an inherited (or thrifted) antique teapot, surrounded by other vintage finds.

Accentuate a beautiful vintage container, antique tins, teapots, pitchers and storage containers, for charming stand-ins for modern vases while adding a hand-me-down touch of family history to tables.

Place a few blooms, in fall shades, in a clear water glass for a less complicated or casual look.
•
Cut leaf shapes from colorful card stock and attach to bare branches gathered from the backyard; before the meal, ask guests to write what they're most thankful for on the leaves, or just leave them blank.

Burress Injury Law is a premier personal injury law firm with headquarters in McKinney and offices in Frisco, Paris and Sherman. The Burress Family Foundation is the charity arm started in 2022 to work hand in hand with Burress Injury Law to facilitate the firm’s community outreach, charitable giving and college scholarship program. Founder Jason K. Burress is a seventh-generation Texan, and has called Collin County home for 20 years. Burress Injury Law was started in McKinney 15 years ago and the Burress Family Foundation is also headquartered in McKinney. The Burress Family Foundation has two primary objectives: (1) to support deserving local nonprofits and local law enforcement who protect our communities; and (2) to provide college scholarships to deserving students. “As a community-based law firm, we love McKinney, Frisco and all of North Texas, and we're honored to give back to our community and equally excited to grow our college scholarship program,” says Jason K. Burress. Historically, ManeGait was the flagship nonprofit that Burress Injury Law supported. More recently, the firm has supported Hugs Café and Love Life Foundation. ManeGait helps children and former military and first responders with serious disabilities and other injuries move beyond their boundaries through the healing power of the horse. Hugs Café provides meaningful training and competitively paid employment for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Love Life Foundation brings awareness of the many tragedies inflicted upon children and identifies supporting agencies and
groups that bring relief and comfort to young victims and their families. Each year, Burress Injury Law hosts a community picnic for friends, colleagues, clients, vendors and staff benefiting local nonprofits. Burress Injury Law funds the picnic each year and 100% of all donations go to the organizations with a matching gift from the foundation. Over the past 11 years, approximately $305,000 has been given to local charities. The Burress Foundation recently made a three-year, minimum commitment of $100,000 to Love Life Foundation, the first year of which has been fully funded. The Burress Family Foundation is passionate about providing scholarships to college students who have persevered in the face of adversity and who want to use their life experiences to help others. Scholarships are open to undergraduate students throughout the U.S., and the awards can be applied to tuition and other educational expenses at each recipient’s school. In 2022, nine scholarships worth $27,000 were awarded. Applications for Spring 2023 Burress Family Foundation scholarships are due by Dec. 6, 2022. "Over two decades, our team has built an exceptional reputation for winning cases on behalf of victims of serious injuries and wrongful death. ‘care moore’ initiative Which Nonprofits Will Receive Incredible, Complimentary Creative Services Opportunities? ARTICLE BY JULIE BROWN PATTON
Area branding and marketing executive Carrolee Moore recently launched a new initiative in collaboration with a group of fellow creative business owners who share her heart for community service. Earlier this year, in the midst of helping to take care of her father in his last days, Carrolee says God gave her a vision to be a blessing to others using her gifts and talents. "He also made it clear I wouldn’t be doing it alone." As CEO of CMC Marketing Company, Carrolee works with identity and cohesive marketing goals each day. "However, one of our five core values as a business is faith. Not just faith in a higher power, but faith that things will be better, greater and more impactful in the future. At the core, that's what we're working toward as a business on behalf of others," she says. "Now, we get to do that for nonprofit organizations as well." Carrolee believes nonprofits are the hands and feet of each community, selflessly serving the most vulnerable. She shares that her new "Care Moore Initiative" endeavors to provide these change agents with the foundation they'll need to become more appealing to donors and grantors. By that "foundation," she means offering up to $15,000 in pro bono creative services that will aid nonprofits in future fundraising efforts.
Other professionals who joined Carrolee are Olivia OgrenHrejsa, of Olivia Ogren-Hrejsa Photography; Tyler Burns, of Artistry & Light; and Pam Takesh, of Marni G Designs. Each year, Carrolee vows to "adopt" a nonprofit and assist them with brand design, photography and videography. Selected nonprofits will enjoy a free night of fundraising on North Texas Giving Day. "Our 2023 goal is to add legal, tax and fundraising pro bono services to further assist the recipients. Ultimately, creating the opportunity to meet more of the operational needs for nonprofit organizations than previously imagined," she adds. It’s all about serving guests to the highest caliber,” Kyle says. • Draw inspiration from the season’s changing colors, cooler temps and lower humidity to move back outdoors. “Think flannel blankets, wooden tables, fire pits, open grills, string lights and candles to create a really cool environment you haven’t been able to do all summer.”

In addition to contemplating life's aspects that are appreciated, it's also a perfect occasion to think about others, who may be less fortunate, by giving monetary gifts, donations or simply volunteering. Be sure to inquire whether employers may provide matching funds to financial donations. Here are some local opportunities in the Frisco region for making contributions. Some of the most needed items in food banks are canned soup, fruit, vegetables, stew, fish and beans, along with pasta and rice.
