One Frisco culinary crew creates a different taco of the month for which Mo Assi, master taco designer and owner of Crush Taco, eagerly gives them freedom to invent new combinations for guests. “Our featured tacos are inspired by seasonality, popularity and team collaboration. Our ideas are based on dishes we grew up with, or ones we love eating,” Mo explains. Launched in 2016, Mo says through this taqueria he started “a brand” in Frisco with quality, made-from-scratch ingredients and superior dining service.

WHAT NEW TACO WILL BE INTRODUCED DURING OCTOBER?
CRUSHING IT
Building on initial categories, such as a broad-based Italian or even a specific one of a hot dog, Mo says they then explore what associated ingredients should be combined to give new offerings the “Crush Taco flair.” He adds that they have guests who’ve become an informal fan club of each month’s featured taco, basically serving as a tasting panel. One of their first featured tacos was the Spicy Rooster, with buttermilk-fried chicken. Mo says one of the most popular featured tacos was Crawfish Jambalaya. For September, they presented a Cuban taco. ‘We keep our guests guessing!” assures Mo. 11445 Dallas Parkway #230 469.579.4094 CrushTaco.com

GINGER JAR AND GRAPES
01
Originally, ginger jars were used for storing and transporting spices in Ancient China. I love to paint them in my still lifes. In this painting, grapes lead the viewer into the painting. One might think I used the grapes as a symbol for sake, but most sakes are made from fermented rice, not grapes like wine is.

this, I used some cute little vintage figurines I collected over the years from McDonalds. Even foodies like a little fast food every now and then! The treats (toys) make for funny, and sometimes silly stories, in my paintings. I DON’T LIKE IT DIRTY
“THE BEST PAINTINGS CREATE A STORY. My stories have happy endings,“ believes Frisco-area artist Milessa Murphy. When studying the old Masters’ paintings of still life, for as long as Milessa can remember, she remembers seeing some type of food accompanying the main subject. “As a painter, I set up for the best composition, color and the story. Much like a cook does when dressing the plate for a meal or even preparing the meal, you look for ingredients that go together and complement one another. The presentation has to be beautiful,” she proclaims. Here, Frisco Life celebrates food as an artistic form, and Milessa shares the stories behind her own vibrant, textured happy endings on canvas! HEAVEN AND EARTH
My artist byline is “Capturing the Imagination.” Use your imagination now as I paint in words the meaning behind this painting. When I think of heaven, my senses smell that of rose. A rose is so pure and clean-smelling.
Sometimes a painting is more about technique; this is one

balance each other, like salt and pepper do in a recipe.

Carl Dalio was a watercolor artist who helped me with design when I was a watercolorist; now I paint only in rich “buttery” oils. One might say “I love to cook with real butter” LOL! Painting is just like cooking, in my opinion, you have to know when it’s just the right time to add another layer, or you will end up with a flop. I set up my still lifes like I’m creating a recipe from scratch. You move the pieces all around until you get that “eye-candy” feeling. DALIOS FRUIT

radishes are next to the greenish background as complimentary colors. I really don’t like the taste of radishes, but I do love the red color they produce; however, I do cook with copper a lot. Expert chefs have known it for a long time -- by using copper cookware, any meal can be prepared in a perfect and gentle way. Did I tell you I’m a gourmet cook? Yes, and cooking is an art, too! However, the food delivery component of dining has noticeably and steadily increased since 2014,
according to industry sources. Diners enjoy the convenience and the easy way to support local restaurants. Cloud kitchens apply modified approaches designed to help food travel better, and frequently use packaging that’s been designed to preserve a dish’s freshness during transport. PARTING THOUGHTS
CORNERS OF THE HEART GIFTS OF GRAZE
“OH YOU LOOK SO PRETTY,” I CHUCKLE AND SAY THROUGH A BEAMING SMILE. The recipient of this compliment has no way of processing or accepting the adoration. I snap a few photos and tuck her away. The platter of various cheeses, fresh and dried fruit, and premium charcuterie doesn’t know its own beauty. But I do and I speak positivity and love into each and every one of the orders I create. Gifts of Graze is a true labor of love, community and opportunity. When I first started this local small business, I was newly transplanted to Texas and longed for a community to connect with. At our July 2019 launch, we were immediately welcomed with open arms and the demand for our grazing boards has not let up. The opportunity to deliver love on a board directly to people also comes with the opportunity to partner with other local businesses to bring small quality indulgences. It’s such a privilege to be able to create something that’s a part of so many important life milestones. From baby showers, to weddings, to birthdays, to celebrations of life, wedding anniversaries, new home purchases, and everything in-between. There’s a creative process each board undergoes while being built. I literally imagine the celebrants, the occasion, and the love and friendship that will pass over and through the food. Each order is more than a meat and cheese platter -- it truly is a Gift of Graze. info@giftsofgraze.com Eileen Torres / Owner
