“When my wife and I were looking for a trust attorney, we interviewed four different attorneys. We were most impressed by Justin Gilbert’s breadth and depth of knowledge. He listened carefully to our needs and requirements and he recommended we create a grantor trust for our taxable assets and retirement trust for our pretax assets.
He was the only attorney who was knowledgeable about retirement trusts and the benefits such trust would offer. I am a very detailed person, I read every word of the documents and I require that I understand everything in the trusts. Justin answered all my questions to my satisfaction and readily agreed to make changes that I wished to make.
At no time did Justin show impatience with my requests or inquiries. Justin always met his commitments to deliver draft documents or changes there to. There will come a time when our children will need an attorney’s services to settle our estate in accordance with the terms of our trusts. My instructions to them is to employ and depend on Justin’s services. I HIGHLY recommend Justin to anyone who needs a trust attorney. I am very hard to please because I like perfection. That is what I pay for and Justin delivered.” – David Albee

March is the month when light lingers a little longer, we crack the windows open, and the urge to refresh doesn't feel like a chore. In this issue, we celebrate "home" as something that evolves with us, season by season, story by story.
And in every story, you’ll find ideas for thoughtful spring resets, rooms designed for real life, and spaces that balance art and comfort. From bringing the outdoors in to design choices that show case warmth and intention, this issue is about creating homes that support how you live.
And while you're making design decisions, don't forget to put on your dancing shoes as The Dancing With The Star s Tour comes to town! Read my interview with pro dancer Emma Slater about what happens behind the scenes and what fans can expect when the dancing team takes over the Grand Ole Opry stage later this month.
As winter ice storms and snow-filled days loosen their grip, March invites us to welcome what’s next. We hope these pages inspire you to open the doors, let the light in, and shape a home that feels renewed, calm, personal, and ready for the season ahead. Warmly,

A Conversation About GLP-1s with Dr. Christina Rahm
Beyond the scale: What GLP-1 users need to know about long-term strength, energy, and metabolic resilience
DR. CHRISTINA RAHM Patented Scientist & Formulator
GLP-1 medications are everywhere right now. From a scientific standpoint, what do you think most people misunderstand about how these medications actually work in the body?
Many people assume GLP-1 medications fix their metabolism, but they primarily work by reducing appetite and slowing stomach emptying. Weight loss occurs because people eat less, not because the medication repairs how organs and systems communicate. Key factors like muscle preservation, cellular energy, and metabolic resilience are often not addressed at the same time. Think of the body like a company trying to survive a downsizing. Without the right strategy, it doesn’t just eliminate excess — it often cuts its most valuable assets. Muscle tissue is metabolically expensive, so it’s frequently lost first. The result may be someone who is lighter, but also weaker and less resilient long term. That’s why I formulated Crush, an essential amino acid–based muscle support formula, to help preserve lean tissue and cellular energy during periods of reduced intake.
One of the most searched questions right now is about long-term effects and what happens when someone wants to scale off GLP-1 medications. What should people understand?
The long-term outcome of GLP-1 use is heavily influenced by what’s happening while someone is on the medication. Preserving muscle, maintaining nutrient density, and supporting metabolic signaling during use all shape what happens when appetite returns or medication is reduced. If those foundations aren’t in place, people may struggle with fatigue, strength loss, or weight regain. Scaling off successfully isn’t about willpower — it’s about preparation. Sculpt was designed to support glucose regulation, appetite balance, and metabolic pathways, offering a structured approach for those reducing or transitioning off GLP-1 medications.

CREATING BACKYARD RETREATS
INSIDE KEYSTONE OUTDOOR LIVING’S APPROACH TO CREATING TIMELESS OUTDOOR SPACES IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE
As winter fades and warmer days approach, now is the perfect time to think about creating an outdoor space you can truly enjoy. Keystone Outdoor Living transforms backyards into personal escapes designed for relaxing, entertaining, and soaking up the seasons. With roots in Pennsylvania and over 40 years of experience serving central and southeastern PA, Keystone expanded to the Nashville market in 2024, continuing its commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and service.
“We truly love being part of this new and growing market,” Marcus Stoltzfus explains. “Nashville has been incredibly welcoming, and we’re excited to bring our craftsmanship and quality to the area. When people see our work firsthand, they quickly become excited about what’s possible for their own backyard.”
As the name suggests, Keystone Outdoor Living's expertise offers custom patios, porches, outdoor kitchens, and more. With a focus on thoughtful design and high-quality materials, they create outdoor spaces that truly enhance the way clients live at home. Each project begins with a complimentary design consultation and estimate, ensuring every space is tailored to the client’s vision.
“That process allows us to truly understand how they want to use their space, and then pair those ideas with our design expertise,” Marcus says. “The result is a personalized outdoor environment that’s not only beautiful, but functional and calming—something our clients can enjoy for years to come. Creating spaces that support relaxation and well-being is central to everything we do.”
Outdoor living continues to grow in popularity, and homeowners are increasingly recognizing the health and wellness benefits of spending more time outside. From reducing stress and boosting mood to encouraging connection and relaxation, a well-designed outdoor space can have a meaningful impact on everyday life. Rather than an afterthought, these areas are becoming intentional extensions of the home, places to slow down, recharge, and reconnect.
With summer just around the corner, now is also an ideal time to refresh or reimagine outdoor spaces in preparation for the season ahead. Whether it’s making small upgrades or planning a full transformation, thoughtful improvements can help homeowners make the most of the warmer months and fully enjoy their backyard.
“As soon as warmer weather arrives, people naturally turn their attention to their backyard,” Marcus says. “Even simple updates—like refreshing a deck surface, adding comfortable seating, or improving lighting—can completely change how a space is used. At Keystone, we focus on creating outdoor areas that invite people to spend more time outside with friends and family, whether that’s hosting gatherings or simply relaxing at the end of the day.”
Looking ahead, investing in an updated patio or outdoor living area offers benefits that go far beyond aesthetics. Creating a comfortable, inviting backyard encourages more time spent outside, whether that’s enjoying morning coffee in the fresh air, hosting summer gatherings, or simply unwinding after a long day. With proven health and wellness benefits like reduced stress, improved mood, and stronger connections with family and friends, now is the perfect time to transform outdoor spaces into personal retreats that can be enjoyed all season long and for years to come.
For homeowners ready to take the next step, Keystone Outdoor Living offers the expertise and guidance needed to turn those outdoor dreams into reality. From the initial complimentary design consultation to the final build, their team works closely with each client to ensure every detail reflects how the space will be used and enjoyed. With decades of experience, a commitment to quality craftsmanship, and a thoughtful, client-centered approach, Keystone Outdoor Living makes creating a personalized outdoor oasis both seamless and rewarding.

ART And Curation
“ONE OF THE BEST PARTS OF OUR JOB IS INTRODUCING PEOPLE TO ARTISTS, WORKS AND MEDIUMS THEY MAY NOT YET KNOW.” -- JAKE GREATENS
Jake and Cassie Greatens are helping expand Nashville’s creative conversation through CASS Contemporary Art Gallery. Founded with a passion for emerging voices and thoughtful curation, CASS has quickly become a space where art, dialogue, and community intersect. In this Q&A, Cassie shares how the couple's vision for the gallery took shape, what inspires their approach to contemporary art, and how they’re carving out a distinctive place within Nashville’s evolving cultural landscape.
NASHVILLE'S CASS GALLERY AND THE IMPACT OF EXCEPTIONAL ART
HOW DID CASS CONTEMPORARY GALLERY COME TO LIFE, AND WHAT INSPIRED YOU?
My husband and co-founder, Jake, went to school for art and was a practicing artist, whereas I studied education and government and was raised in the business world. So our educational paths were different, although our interests and aesthetics aligned. About 12 years ago, when we traveled to Europe and stayed for a month, most of our trip consisted of visiting museums and galleries throughout Paris, Berlin, and London. When we got home, as cliché as it sounds, the idea for CASS was born over dinner. We decided to open a gallery in Tampa and make it something different than anything anyone had seen. Then CASS evolved into a consulting company; we still have our gallery, now in Nashville, but we also manage individuals’ collections and provide art programming for large commercial developments or businesses, such as restaurants, hotels, and similar enterprises.
FOR HOMEOWNERS WHO MAY FEEL INTIMIDATED BY COLLECTING ART, WHAT ADVICE DO YOU GIVE WHEN HELPING THEM CHOOSE PIECES FOR THEIR SPACE?
We always encourage clients to start with what genuinely resonates with them rather than what feels “correct” or is trending. Collecting art shouldn’t feel intimidating; it should feel exciting and extremely personal. We guide clients through the process by helping them understand their own tastes, preferences, and the way they live in their space. From there, we focus on education, context, and very intentional curation, so that each piece feels meaningful and approachable. Building a collection is a journey, and we love helping people confidently progress through every stage of it.
CAN YOU SHARE EXAMPLES OF HOW A SINGLE PIECE OF ART CAN TRANSFORM A ROOM OR GUIDE THE DESIGN OF AN ENTIRE SPACE?
We’ve seen many instances where a single artwork becomes the foundation for an entire interior. For example, a bold contemporary painting might inspire a color palette or influence architectural finishes, and a sculptural piece can direct layout and flow. We’ve also seen pieces that dramatically elevate spaces by complementing the interior design decisions or vice versa. Often, once a client connects with a particular work, the rest of the design naturally evolves around it. That piece CONTINUED >
Jake & Cassie Greatens
becomes the emotional and visual anchor of the space, guiding other additions that produce a coherent, harmonious whole.
WHAT TRENDS ARE YOU SEEING RIGHT NOW IN CONTEMPORARY ART AND HOW PEOPLE ARE INCORPORATING IT INTO THEIR HOMES?
There’s a strong shift right now toward authenticity and individuality. There’s also a growing practice of confidently mixing styles, like featuring both contemporary and traditional art in the same space, as well as layered or eclectic collections that have been assembled over time instead of overly stylized just to “fit” a room. Another current trend is a deeper awareness of scale and impact, with clients embracing larger works or statement pieces that define a space. Collectors are focusing on a quality-driven market and on prioritizing artistic significance, recognition, and long-term value. And, of course, collectors are always looking for fresh pieces.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR CASS CONTEMPORARY GALLERY, AND HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR ROLE EVOLVING WITHIN NASHVILLE’S GROWING CREATIVE COMMUNITY?
CASS Contemporary is entering a really exciting phase of growth. We have several new exhibitions and projects
underway, along with our continued work of curating and placing art in private homes throughout the city and the U.S. Our focus moving forward is on expanding the way people experience art, whether that means influencing conversations around it, connecting with more people in the community to engage with the gallery, or making art more visible in the city through public works people can see on their way to work every day. As Nashville continues to grow creatively, we want to be both contributors to and collaborators with that burgeoning art landscape. We’re passionate about supporting artists, introducing thought-provoking contemporary work to new audiences, and helping elevate the city’s visual culture in a meaningful way. Through such means as curated exhibitions, site-specific projects, and long-term collection management, our primary goal is to make art feel accessible, intentional, and deeply connective. On a personal level, Jake and I are committed to building something lasting here. We love Nashville and feel strongly about contributing to its evolving art scene in a way that’s authentic and community-driven. For us, CASS Contemporary isn’t just a gallery— it’s about fostering relationships, supporting artists, and leaving a legacy that reflects creativity, integrity, and a genuine love for art. Inside Amanda Pitt's Franklin Antique Mall, Where History, Design, and Discovery Converge
A Timeless Hunt in the Heart of
Franklin
The moment you step through the doors of Franklin Antique Mall, time seems to slow, inviting you to wander, wonder, and discover pieces of the past that still feel alive today.
Housed in a historic 1903 building, the mall has become a destination for collectors, designers, and curious visitors who appreciate character and craftsmanship. Owner Amanda Pitts believes the building itself sets the tone. “I do think the location helps. It has different levels, unique architecture, flooring, and big windows. The atmosphere lends itself to an experience,” she said. “Being in Franklin is also a plus.”
Inside, more than 70 dealers create a layered experience filled with European antiques, vintage finds, glassware, jewelry, wall art, mirrors, home decor, and
furniture. Each booth reflects the personality of its dealer, giving the mall an ever-changing rhythm that keeps shoppers coming back.
That sense of discovery often leads to deeply personal moments. Pitts recalls one longtime Franklin resident who found a piece that felt destined for her historic home. “We had a beautiful Civil War dated secretary desk. It was a beautiful walnut desk and it had been here a while. She happened to come and bought it on the spot,” Pitts said. "It fit just right in this historic
mansion she has, and every time we see her, we still talk about the piece.”
Pitts notes that meaningful items continue to resonate. Furniture, jewelry with sentimental value, old Coke signs, mirrors, wall art, and small heirloom pieces often spark emotional connections for shoppers searching for something special.
One of the mall’s most surprising features is the breadth of its collections. “We have a vendor who is a Civil War expert,” Pitts said. “Swords, rifles, canteens, horse bits, bayonets, epaulettes, and even a Civil War saddle! The variety of antiques is just surprising."
Maintaining that range requires dedication from the dealers themselves. Pitts credits the mall’s success to their care and consistency. “We have really got a good group of dealers. They are highly responsible, and they all take care of their spot,” she said. “They constantly tweak it every week, so it always feels fresh.”
Nostalgia plays a powerful role in the shopping experience. Music drifts through the aisles, the historic architecture sets the mood, and knowledgeable staff help bring the stories behind each piece to life. “The building itself is historic, and the staff are so good at helping people with what they know about it, the history of pieces, and how they found them,” Pitts said.
Over time, certain dealers develop loyal followings, often fueled by social media and antique shows. Shoppers may discover a booth online, then seek it out in person, strengthening the sense of community that defines the mall.
As design trends shift, Pitts sees adaptation as part of preserving the mall’s timeless charm. “The vendors want to sell their items, so they stay up to date,” she said. “They read articles, follow antique trends, and keep up with home decor and design.”
First-time visitors are encouraged to take their time. With three sections and countless treasures, the hunt is part of the joy. The mall has also caught the eye of Hollywood, appearing in films and television shows, with celebrities quietly browsing alongside locals.
In the end, Franklin Antique Mall is more than a place to shop; it is where stories are found, remembered, and carried forward, one meaningful piece at a time.

Dancing Pro Emma Slater Takes Us Behind The Scenes
The Dancing With The Stars Tour
ARTICLE BY MARIA DINOIA | PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED
Slater with partner Andy Richter/ Photo by Disney/Andrew Eccles
The Dancing With the Stars Live tour is on the road again, bringing the glamour, energy, and dramatic performances of the hit television show straight to the stage. With fan-favorite pros, celebrity guests, and a fresh production, this year’s tour blends high-energy choreography with behind-the-scenes moments audiences don’t get to see on TV.
Also brand-new this year is a co-hosting role for longtime pro Emma Slater, who shares with Franklin Lifestyle not only what fans can expect from the tour, but everything from quiet moments on the bus to performing in legendary venues like Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House.
“This year's show feels very different," says Slater. "We've obviously done the tour for many years now, and this year we have a live camera on stage with us. So we are giving more like a concert. I'd say it's probably one of the biggest changes that we've ever made. We have five couples on the road with us. Last year we had four main couples, and so we have a bigger cast. We have more rotating celebs coming in, including my partner, Andy Richter, who's going to be co-host for some of the tour.”
Slater says one of her favorite parts of touring is watching celebrities connect directly with fans who supported them during the show. “I love touring with my partner," she says. "It just extends their experience from the TV show onto the stage so they can physically see the people who voted for them and then it becomes more real. So I love watching that experience for the celebrities.”

“It extends their experience from the TV show onto the stage so they can physically see the people who voted for them and then it becomes more real.”
This season also marks an exciting milestone in Slater’s career as she steps into a co-hosting role alongside her dancing responsibilities. After 14 years with the Dancing With the Stars franchise, the transition felt like a natural progression. “It's been amazing," she says. "It's definitely something that I have been working towards - hosting more in my career and having the opportunity to do that within the brand. It felt like it was such a natural progression. I'm so grateful that I have the opportunity to do it. And it feels really fun and natural and exciting. It feels like I'm just being myself on stage. And I love it. I absolutely have such a gratitude for being able to do that every single night.”

Of course, life on tour is not without its challenges. With close to 100 shows scheduled, the pace can be demanding, leaving little time for rest or exploration.
“For me, at the moment, there's not been a ton of time for exploring and relaxing," Salter says. "I think the cold weather has a lot to do with that too. We were in a bit of a snowstorm over the last few days, although it wasn't quite as bad as we thought it could be. But relaxing to me is exploring the city, walking around with Alan, my boyfriend, who's also on tour, and Jeff, our dog. We go to coffee shops, which seems like such a mundane thing to do, but it's something we love to do. And sometimes we will go to a place that has a sauna because we love saunas, and that's really how we will look after ourselves. And honestly, I think the fueling part about tour for us mentally is being together and finding the pockets of time where we all have fun downtime.”
That sense of camaraderie extends beyond the stage. “When we get on the bus at night, there might be six or seven of us on the same bus, and we will watch TV shows together," Slater says. Last night we watched The Traitors, something I would ordinarily do by myself. But I get to do it with all my friends! It feels like I have roommates for four months, but we're weirdly on a bus. It's great. We have so much fun together and we have a group text and we'll say, 'Hey, meet you for lunch.' And it might just be our catering for the tour, but you're still meeting a friend for lunch.”

Tour life has even become a family affair, complete with pets and children traveling alongside the dancers. “We have Jeff, our dog, who is a Brussels Griffon, and he's currently eating his lunch right now," says Slater. This is his second tour. But we also have Nikita, who is Daniella's and Pasha's little girl, and we have Rome who is Val and Jenna's little boy, and they have the most cutest, adorable relationship. It is heart melting. It's a full, inclusive family tour.”
Performing in iconic venues, like Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House adds another level of excitement for the dancers. "There's so much history and it feels very significant when you're in those dressing rooms because those dressing rooms have had singers and megastar royalty in them," says Slater. "And so much nostalgia! I love looking at all the paintings and I love looking at the memorabilia that they have showcased on the walls. And then the stage itself feels different. There's no other stage like it. And acoustically, we've had it explained to us that when you're standing on a certain point, which is a point that Elvis Presley used to stand on, you can hear a different acoustic sound due to the way that the room is shaped, and it's so significant.”
Among the many dances in the lineup, Slater has a few personal favorites. “I really like performing "Ordinary with Alan," she says. "It's our little duet. And the song is {"Ordinary"} by Alex Warren, and it's such a beautiful song. I love the dress and I love the choreography. It feels very special to me."
"There are a couple of numbers that we do with the camera live on stage, and it feels more like a Dancing With the Stars TV show performance because we are performing to the camera rather than the audience, and the audience gets to see that," she continues. "So it's kind of like a dual effect. And I think that that's very captivating. There's a couple of jives that we do that are like that. And I think it's extremely different and something that we've ever done before.”
The choreography process is highly collaborative, allowing each dancer to bring their own voice and style to the routines. “We do have a hand in the choreography. Mandy {Moore} is our genius, our master director," says Slater. "When it comes to the duets, we have our own identity and our own stamp and our own ways of working together. So we will sometimes choreograph pieces within our duets and we will help put together the steps for some of the large group routines, and then Mandy will orchestrate. Much like a musical director, she'll fit all of the pieces together and she'll have the final say in what she does and doesn't like. And it's really insane to watch."

Rapid Fire with Emma Slater
Ballroom or Latin?
Emma: It would have to be Latin.
One song that instantly makes you want to dance?
Emma: Bee Gees "You Should Be Dancing."
Favorite Dancing with the Stars costume you've ever worn?
Emma: It's a green dress that I wear currently for my duet with Alan on tour. It's beautiful and they made it especially for me.
Your go to pre-show snack or ritual?
Emma: Listening to music and PG Tips, which is black tea.
One word that describes the energy of the live tour.
Emma: Electric.
Quickest way you calm nerves before a performance, assuming you still get nervous.
Emma: Solo time. Kind of like a meditative state that I put myself into.
And while she may not be a Nashville local, Slater has fond memories of visiting Franklin during different times on the show. “I danced with Jimmy Allen, who has a house in Franklin," she says. "And Bobby Bones, I went to his house. I believe at the time, he lived in Franklin. It's just absolutely beautiful. And I've heard friends of mine, when they talk about the area, they've said, 'Oh, I wish I could move to Franklin.' There's been actually quite a few people on Dancing With the Stars that have lived there. I know that Martin Cove, who danced with Brit Stewart is also from there."
This year’s Dancing With the Stars tour celebrates not just dance, but the community and creativity that keep the show highly rated and a beloved cultural phenomenon for nearly two decades.

Favorite dance style to teach versus perform?
Emma: Rumba still.
After a show, do you celebrate with a night out or do you rest and recharge?
Emma: Rest and recharge. Girl, those celebrating going out nights are way behind me. I'll still indulge, but I will be on the bus with a blanket.

GUIDED BY COMPASSION
The first sparks of a life devoted to horses did not come in a classroom or clinic but at a simple fence line, where a young boy stood offering apples and carrots to gentle giants who would quietly shape his future.
For Dr. Michael Caruso III, VMD, DACVS (LA), founder of Reedsdale Equine Specialists, equine medicine has always felt less like a career choice and more like a natural extension of who he is. Growing up across the street from a small horse farm, Caruso’s earliest memories are steeped in the sights, sounds and rhythms of barn life. Those early experiences evolved into riding lessons, competitive pony finals and countless hours spent observing veterinarians at work, moments that ultimately clarified his calling.
ROOTED TRUST IN
“I wanted to be that kind of hero for animals, and horses were a logical option,” Dr. Caruso said. “From an early age, I was always interested in medicine; however, my love for horses, and animals in general, coincided well with veterinary medicine.”
That clarity arrived early. By middle school, Dr. Caruso knew veterinary medicine would define his life. His fascination deepened as he spent time at local stables, witnessing the skill, calm and authority required to care for horses whose size demands respect and whose sensitivity requires patience. One particular experience caring for his own show horse cemented his resolve to dedicate his life to equine health, blending science, service and a lifelong love of horses.
Today, Dr. Caruso's days look far different from those childhood mornings at the fence line, yet the sense of purpose remains unchanged. A typical day as an equine veterinarian is shaped by seasonality, long hours and constant adaptability. Winter brings its own demands, often focused on managing chronic conditions and preparing horses for reduced activity. Throughout the year, early mornings and late evenings are routine, with much of his work taking place in barns, fields and arenas rather than traditional exam rooms.
What often goes unseen, Dr. Caruso notes, is the work that happens when the trucks are parked and the barns are quiet. “What many people do not see are the quiet moments spent reviewing case notes, reading journal articles, helping other veterinarians make case decisions, teaching, performing research, coordinating care with owners and trainers, and reflecting on each horse’s progress—these behind-the-scenes efforts are incredibly meaningful to me and form the backbone of my commitment to equine health and well-being.”
Those moments are driven by something deeper than medicine alone. For Dr. Caruso, the most rewarding aspect of his work lies in the relationships he builds with both horses and the people who love them. He has witnessed owners celebrate small victories during rehabilitation and provide steady comfort during difficult decisions.
“What stands out most to me is the deep emotional connection these owners have with their horses, regardless of the animal’s age or current athletic ability,” he said. “Witnessing this unwavering bond inspires me daily and reinforces the importance of compassionate care for both horse and owner.”
Living and working within a close-knit equestrian community has further shaped Dr. Caruso’s approach. Collaboration, trust and shared purpose define his connection to trainers, riders and multi-generational horse families. The sense of camaraderie within the community has enriched both his personal and professional life, reinforcing his belief that excellent veterinary care is never delivered in isolation.
At the core of those relationships is trust, something Dr. Caruso views as foundational to his profession. “Since our patients cannot communicate directly, their owners depend on my medical expertise and experience for guidance.”
That trust is built through clear communication, attentive listening and a calm confidence developed through years of hands-on experience. By fostering transparency and collaboration, Dr. Caruso strives to create an environment where informed decisions serve the best interests of both horse and owner.
Outside the clinic and barn, horses continue to play a meaningful role in Dr. Caruso’s life. Caring for his retired horse, Harley, has reinforced the importance of patience and empathy, particularly when navigating complex medical choices. Those personal experiences shape how he approaches every case, reminding him that veterinary care must address emotional realities alongside physical needs.

Building Reedsdale Equine Specialists has come with its own set of challenges, particularly during its early days amid the COVID pandemic. Rapidly changing protocols required adaptability, resilience and creativity. Telemedicine became essential, and maintaining accessibility while prioritizing safety demanded constant reassessment.
“The uncertainty forced me to become more resilient, resourceful, and flexible than I ever expected,” Dr. Caruso said. “Through it all, the unwavering support of my clients and the dedication of my team reminded me why I chose this path in the first place.”
He credits much of that perseverance to the support of his wife, Dr. Jennifer Gesell. “She has always supported my career goals with unwavering compassion. I could not have achieved what I have today without her. I am deeply grateful to her beyond comparison.”
When asked what sets Reedsdale Equine Specialists apart, Dr. Caruso points to a philosophy rooted in individualized care, compassion and excellence. Every horse, regardless of discipline or monetary value, receives the highest standard of attention, delivered by a team committed to continuing education and open communication.
The name Reedsdale itself carries deep meaning. It honors Dr. Caruso’s great-grandparents, who immigrated from Italy and opened a general store on Reedsdale Street in Pittsburgh. Naming the practice after that street serves as a tribute to their perseverance and entrepreneurial spirit, linking his work as an equine surgeon and business owner to his family’s history.
From a childhood fence line to a respected equine practice, Dr. Caruso’s journey is defined by continuity, a lifelong respect for horses, a commitment to trust and a belief that the best medicine is grounded in compassion, connection and care.

Our family would love the opportunity to earn your business. As a second-generation independent Insurance Agency, we have been servicing Williamson County for over 30 years!
With our region still reeling from the ice of Winter Storm Fern, one company stands apart in delivering true resiliency solutions. This year, LightWave marks its 20th anniversary, a rare milestone in the distributed solar market and a testament to a business built on patience, integrity and long-term thinking. That mindset is designed into every home microgrid project, helping power hundreds of homes through days-long outages.
Headquartered in Tennessee and deeply rooted in Williamson County, LightWave Solar has quietly earned a reputation as the trusted partner behind some of the region’s most thoughtful and forward-looking energy projects. At the center of that story is CEO Chris Koczaja, whose journey to renewable energy began far from rooftop panels and battery storage systems.
Before solar, Chris spent his early career with a large heavy equipment manufacturer, working in power generation with large diesel and natural gas generators including projects that converted landfill gas to electricity. His work also took him into a biodiesel pilot program and deep into coal mines through the company’s mining division. It was heavy industry, complex, powerful and rooted in the traditional energy economy.
That perspective shifted when a former dealer called Chris with an opportunity to help start a biomass energy company. He became employee number two, spending seven years immersed in biomass and waste-to-energy projects. It was during this time that a defining realization emerged. At one facility, Chris watched the construction of a waste-to-energy plant with more than 100 single points of failure alongside a solar array being installed on the same site by the customer.
“The contrast was striking,” he recalls. “The complexity versus simplicity.”
That simplicity and reliability planted a seed. When LightWave’s founder Steve Johnson began looking to sell the company in 2017, Chris was looking for something different. In May of that year, he joined LightWave as majority owner, stepping into a company poised for growth at what he describes as a “tipping point” for solar energy.
CONTINUED >
“The company’s guiding principle, ‘Experience. Quality. Passion,’ is more than a tagline. It’s a filter through which every project is evaluated.”
That same year, LightWave completed its first “behind-themeter” 200-kilowatt commercial project that required no utility incentives. It was a clear signal that solar had matured from niche to viable and that LightWave was ready for its next chapter.
From the beginning, LightWave has distinguished itself not by selling solar and energy storage projects at all costs, but by insisting on doing it right. The company’s guiding principle, “Experience. Quality. Passion”, is more than a tagline. It’s a filter through which every project is evaluated.
If a roof isn’t suitable, if the payback doesn’t make sense or if the system won’t meet resiliency standards, LightWave will advise against moving forward. That commitment to integrity has shaped the company’s reputation and its unusually long sales cycle. It’s not uncommon for clients to return two or even three years after an initial consultation, ready to proceed when the timing is right.
One story Chris often shares involves the founder advising a potential customer not to install solar because her husband wasn’t fully on board. The sale was paused, not because the system wouldn’t work technically, but because alignment mattered. For LightWave, trust and long-term relationships come first. That philosophy resonates strongly in Williamson County, where many residents are also business owners. While LightWave is well known for its residential work, a significant portion of its portfolio lies in commercial-scale projects, often discreet, sometimes confidential and occasionally for “really exclusive clients.” LightWave approaches solar and storage the way others approach roofing, electrical,
or mechanical systems which are designed and built to last decades. For homeowners, this means LightWave takes equal care with both performance and aesthetics.
Systems are custom-engineered to complement the architecture, clean rooflines, concealed conduit, and HOAsensitive designs. Detailed 3D renderings allow clients to see exactly how panels will look before installation, and whenever possible, panels are placed on the back of the home to preserve curb appeal. Every project begins with an extensive design phase, often lasting months, followed by installations scheduled four to six months from the initial inquiry.
Quality is non-negotiable. LightWave installs commercial-grade systems even on residential homes, with wiring enclosed in metal conduit for durability and a clean finish. For homeowners and business owners who value control and continuity, energy decisions today are less about sustainability and more about certainty. Increasingly, homeowners aren’t just asking for solar, they’re asking for storage. Most residential inquiries now include whole-home battery backup systems, driven by a desire for resilience during outages and greater control over energy use.
That shift aligns with LightWave’s future vision. “We’re becoming a storage company that does solar,” Chris says. As electricity demands grow, driven in part by artificial intelligence and data-intensive technologies, grid reliability is becoming more uncertain. Storage, he believes, is the key to solving more of the utility’s challenges than solar alone.
At his own home, Chris retrofitted a fully automated microgrid system that can run off-grid indefinitely, often operating off-grid for weeks at a time, demonstrating the robustness of the system in a typical decades-old Wilco home not especially characterized for its energy efficiency. It was a resiliency hub throughout the storm providing a contingency plan for friends and neighbors. He describes operating the home as a game by optimizing energy use, managing loads and fine-tuning performance all through his phone. While most customers prefer auto mation without daily interaction, the technology offers flexibility for those who want deeper engagement, from controlling EV charging to heating and cooling schedules.
Long-term, Chris envisions a decen tralized grid made up of intercon nected microgrids that are more resil ient, more efficient and better suited for the future. It’s a vision that many local utilities share as their dedicated teams work hard to deliver energy even when the weather and grid are at odds.
LightWave leverages partnerships with dozens of companies across the country through its membership in Amicus Solar Cooperative and has sister companies in Vermont and Arkansas. Despite this, LightWave remains proudly local. It’s a Tennessee company with deep community ties and a team committed to staying ahead of the curve without losing sight of its roots.
After 20 years, LightWave Solar’s success isn’t just about technology. It’s about people. Customers treated as partners, employees guided by values and leadership grounded in experience. In a rapidly evolving energy landscape, LightWave continues to prove that doing things the right way is not only possible, but powerful…even when the power is out.

All Heart: Leah Galvan Turner
Creating Her Own Lane
Leah Galvan Turner is telling stories. In a music genre built on storytelling, Turner is embracing bilingual lyrics and deeply personal narratives that bridge country music with Mexican culture. In this Q & A, Turner opens up about how her songwriting has evolved, the influence of her heritage, and the lessons Music City has taught her.
ARTICLE BY MARIA DINOIA | PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED
HOW HAS YOUR SONGWRITING EVOLVED SINCE YOUR EARLIEST RELEASES?
I have been blessed to sit in rooms with writers like Hilary Lindsey, Jesse Frasure, Cary Barlowe, and the late Brett James. Getting that front-row seat taught me how to put detail and feeling into a song: real life moments, real “furniture” in the lyric, and melodies that stay with you.
I carried that foundation forward, and as I’ve grown, I’ve evolved in how I approach what I want to say and how honest I am willing to be. I write more from my own lens now: my culture, my bilingual voice, my perspective as a woman in this business, the things I’ve lived, and the things I am still living.
I have learned to protect the heart of the song, to say more with less, and to let the truth lead, whether it shows up in English, Spanish, or both.
WHAT EXPERIENCES OR MOMENTS IN YOUR LIFE HAVE MOST INFLUENCED THE STORIES YOU’RE TELLING THROUGH YOUR MUSIC RIGHT NOW?
A lot of what I am writing now comes from navigating this industry as a woman who is not 25 anymore, someone who has been signed to a major label, is now independent, and understands that the unknown can be scary, but fear has never stopped me.
“Watching underrepresented communities fight for space in a genre we have always helped shape shows up in my storytelling and in how I approach country music as a whole.”
There is pressure to stay shiny, stay new, stay “young,” while still evolving and telling the truth. That tension has shaped my writing: the resilience, the self-respect, the letting go of casi algos (almost somethings), the closed doors, the pivots, the moments where you have to bet on yourself even when you are the only one who does, the clarity that comes with age, and the peace that comes when you stop chasing validation.
My cultural identity also plays a big role. Growing up ni de aquí ni de allá (neither from here nor there), carrying both pride and faith, and watching underrepresented communities fight for space in a genre we have always helped shape shows up in my storytelling and in how I approach country music as a whole.
And I am influenced by watching women and diverse voices rise in this genre. Watching that door crack open for more representation has been inspiring, and it fuels me to keep pushing, keep creating, and keep telling the stories we have not heard enough of.
WHAT
INFLUENCE DOES YOUR MEXICAN HERITAGE HAVE ON YOUR MUSIC?
Everything, from the grit with heart, the passion, to the visuals and the phrasing, down to the different sounds we are using, like accordions, flamenco guitar and horns.
I grew up with rancheras, norteñas, and mariachi, and I also grew up on George Strait, rodeo culture, and country storytelling. My music is what happens when those worlds come together. Two worlds, one corazón.
The heritage shows up in the melody choices, the bilingual writing, the vaquera imagery, and the corazón behind the vocal. It gives me a unique lane, and I am proud of that. I am proud to represent Mexicanas in country music and show that la musica no tiene fronteras, music does not have borders.
AS AN ARTIST IN NASHVILLE, HOW HAS THE CITY SHAPED YOUR SOUND, YOUR COLLABORATIONS, AND YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS?
Nashville sharpened my pen. This city does not let you get away with lazy writing. The story has to be there. You cannot hide behind production; the lyric and melody have to stand.
Being here pushed me to write with people outside my usual creative circle, which helped fuse Mexican heart with country storytelling in a very natural way. Along the way I collaborated with GRAMMY Awardwinning Tejano artist Michael Salgado on my song “Para Mi,” and with Jerrod Niemann on “South of the Border,” which proved even more that two worlds can exist and thrive in one genre.
With Jerrod Nieman
It also helped me show the world how the American cowboy and vaquero culture mirror one another: family, ranches, faith, rodeos, jaripeos, heartbreak, heart, and hard work. That is the bridge I am building between the two worlds, because American cowboy traditions come directly from vaquero culture and cultura mexicana. That fusion of Nashville lyricism, western soul and Mexican heart is where my sound really solidified.
IS THERE A SONG IN YOUR CATALOG THAT FEELS ESPECIALLY MEANINGFUL TO YOU TODAY, AND WHY?
Two songs for different reasons.
“This Is Mi” was the first time I publicly claimed my dual identity without asking for permission. It was a turning point creatively and personally.
“American Made” honors both sides of my bloodline. It celebrates that we can make room for two worlds at once. It is pride, it is history, and it is a bridge. It also lets me tip my hat to mis abuelos (my grandparents), who sacrificed everything to immigrate to this nation and chase the American dream, so that I could have the opportunity to stand here today. Their journey makes the phrase “American Made” personal, because being part of this country came through sacrifice, being dreamers, and fearless love for family.
ARE THERE ANY ARTISTS, PAST OR PRESENT, WHO HAVE SIGNIFICANTLY INFLUENCED YOUR MUSICAL JOURNEY OR INSPIRED YOU TO PURSUE THIS PATH?
I have been influenced by artists from both of my worlds: George Strait, Brooks and Dunn, Trisha Yearwood, The Mavericks, and Linda Ronstadt on the country side, and Vicente Fernández, Alicia Villarreal, Carin Leon and Selena on the Mexican side. They taught me about storytelling, emotion, and Mexican and Mexican-American pride, and that cowboy and vaquera culture can live in the same spaces and one voice.
CONTINUED >
LOOKING AHEAD, WHAT CAN FANS EXPECT NEXT FROM YOU, AND WHAT EXCITES YOU MOST ABOUT THIS NEXT CHAPTER?
More bilingual music.
More vaquera country storytelling.
More visuals that reflect desert, ranch, American Dream, and cultura.
My music lives in two spaces: American cowboy and cultura mexicana, a place that has always existed, just not always recognized. That is at the core of “American Made” and “This Is Mi,” and at the heart of the new music exploring identity, age, belonging, and the pride of carrying two heritages.
I am working on an EP, and the lead single is called “Dust.” It is a bilingual song that Jerrod Niemann and I wrote together, produced by Jerrod and Lee Brice, featuring Eddie Perez from The Mavericks on guitar. What made it special was how open Jerrod was to write in Spanish with me. No ego, just curiosity, respect, and creative play. We had such a great time laughing, translating, breaking down phrasing, and letting the emotion land in two languages without forcing it.
Recording vocals at Lee’s studio with Jerrod producing the vocals was another level. Being surrounded by their success, the plaques, the songs, the history, made me want to rise to the room. I walked out of that studio with bilingual words that came alive, and a story I actually lived about leaving a relationship and leaving that person in what settled on us: dust. I left with pride and with humility for the opportunity to be shaped by talents like Jerrod and Lee.
What excites me most about this chapter is that I am not trying to squeeze into existing spaces anymore. I am building my own. While reminding myself No te rindas ( don’t give up) and saying Si se puede ( yes, it can be done) I'm inspiring others to do the same.

171 YEARS OF MAKING HOUSES FEEL LIKE HOME
B.F. MYERS FURNITURE & MATTRESS CONTINUES A LEGACY OF SERVICE IN MIDDLE TENNESSEE
ARTICLE BY SOPHIE BROCK PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED
Investing in high-quality furniture and mattresses that are built to last is not something to take lightly. While shopping for home essentials online may seem like the easiest option, Middle Tennessee locals have access to a trusted, family-owned alternative. B.F. Myers Furniture & Mattress offers two convenient locations in Franklin and Goodlettsville, free delivery, customizable furniture, exceptional quality, and a strong commitment to giving back, making it a true one-stop shop for transforming a house into a home.
With a legacy spanning 171 years, B.F. Myers stands as one of Tennessee’s oldest family-owned furniture retailers. Founded by the Myers family and now operated by the Erwin family, the company continues to uphold the same commitment to exceptional service and craftsmanship that has defined it for generations. Today, Julianne Goodwin represents the third generation of the Erwin family to help lead B.F. Myers, carrying forward its longstanding tradition of quality and care.
“I think the biggest thing for us is customer service,” Julianne explains. “Especially now in the world of buying online and no real interface with people, it's how you treat the customers when they come into the store that keeps them coming back. Making sure that we treat everyone like family is the biggest thing.”
Between B.F. Myers’ 60,000-square-foot showroom in Goodlettsville and its 40,000-square-foot location in Franklin, there is virtually no type of furniture or mattress they can’t offer or customize. As Middle Tennessee continues to experience rapid growth, many newcomers and longtime residents alike have turned to B.F. Myers for both convenience and selection. The company also offers free delivery within a 50-mile radius of either store, and in 2025 reached a new milestone by delivering to customers in seven different states. Today, B.F. Myers carries nearly 100 brands, with approximately 80 percent of its products available for customization.
Both locations feature design centers where customers can customize upholstery selections and utilize a room planner experience. Each showroom has an in-house designer available to guide clients through the custom design process, helping them visualize how each piece will fit and function within their home. Whether through an in-home visit to measure the space or by working with measurements provided by the client, B.F. Myers ensures customers can confidently envision their furniture before making a purchase.
CONTINUED >
Customization is at the heart of what makes a house feel truly personal, and B.F. Myers’ design process is built around that philosophy. With every family living differently, the ability to special order and tailor pieces ensures each space reflects the needs, routines, and lifestyle of the people who use it.
“What you need for your family might be different than what I need for my family,” Julianne explains. “So the design center gives people an option to truly customize for their own life.”
With endless customization options, B.F. Myers makes transforming any house into a home both seamless and personal. The remaining question, then, is how do you know what type of furniture you should be investing in?
“To me, it's where you spend most of your time,” she says. “If you’re going to be in your living room, invest in a sectional. If you hang out in the kitchen, invest in a dining table.”
Furniture has the power to completely shift the tone of a space. In recent years, design trends have moved away from cooler palettes in favor of warmer tones that create a more inviting, lived-in feel. Combined with thoughtful paint choices, the right furniture can transform an entire room, turning it into something both functional and emotionally grounding.
“You could see a blank canvas, and you blink, and it looks like a totally different room,” Juli explains. “I think that same idea of the warmth that can just really make you feel like it's not a place that you just go and walk in and take your shoes off at the end of the day. It's where you relax and where you make memories with your family, but the furniture is the base of it.”
Most recently, B.F. Myers utilized its BFM Cares initiative to partner with the United Service Organizations (USO), helping furnish the BNA Airport Lounge to create a welcoming, comfortable space for service members and their families. Through BFM Cares, the company consistently gives back to the community in meaningful ways, from donating more than $20,000 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation in support of breast cancer awareness and research, to supporting local schools through community events. The initiative has also packed dozens of boxes for Operation Christmas Child and contributed hundreds of dollars toward teachers’ Amazon wish lists, further reinforcing B.F. Myers’ commitment to serving the communities it calls home.
B.F. Myers is built on generations of care, proving that when you walk through their doors, you’re not just a customer, you’re family.

EVERY GREAT BUILDER HAS A BEGINNING
BY DAVID DEFATTA | PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED Def atta Custom Homes
ARTICLE
The story of DeFatta Custom Homes begins not with a showcase property or a grand opening, but with a quiet conviction formed around a dining room table and carried forward with intention.
DeFatta Custom Homes was founded in 2007 by Joe DeFatta and his son, David DeFatta, while David was still in college. What began as a family venture quickly became something deeper than a career path. It became a calling rooted in responsibility, faith, and the understanding that homes carry meaning far beyond their walls. David notes, “From the very beginning, Joe instilled a simple but powerful belief in me: how you build matters just as much as what you build. That principle became one of the foundations of our company and remains central to who we are today.”
As David DeFatta grew into leadership, that foundation evolved into a guiding philosophy shaped by his faith. Building homes was no longer just about craftsmanship or design; it became an act of stewardship. “I began to understand that this was not simply a career path. It was a responsibility,” he said. “My personal faith has influenced that shift. I believe God entrusts us with people, not just projects, and that belief changed how I approach leadership, clients, and the work we do every day.”
That sense of calling continues to shape how DeFatta Custom Homes operates as the company, but the underlying values remain unchanged. “Our market has matured, and so have we,” DeFatta said. We have intentionally shifted and positioned DeFatta Custom Homes as an elevated luxury builder, focused not on volume, but on quality and client experience.”
While design expectations and construction standards have risen, DeFatta is clear that the company has not chased trends for the sake of growth. “Our foundation remains the same. Integrity, communication and partnering with our clients to build their dream home are at the heart of everything we do,” he stresses. “We built this company on doing what is right, regardless of the circumstance and that principle still defines us today.”
For DeFatta, custom homebuilding begins long before architectural plans are finalized. The first client meeting is less about finishes and more about understanding the people who will live in the space. “Custom homes are deeply personal. When I sit down with a client for the first time, I’m listening for more than square footage, finishes, or floor plans,” he said. “I want to understand their story. How they live, what
they value, and what this home represents in their life.” That listening shapes every decision that follows, ensuring the home reflects not only beauty, but intention. “We are not just building a house. We are creating a place where children will be raised, where families will gather, where memories will be made. Ideally, it’s a home that carries meaning and lasts for generations.”
Turning that vision into reality requires a careful balance between creativity and precision, an area where DeFatta credits his team for setting a consistent standard of excellence. “In this business, creativity has to be matched with discipline. Vision without execution does not work, especially in high-end custom homes,” he said. He points to the importance of leadership and process in ensuring that what is imagined on paper is executed faithfully in the field. “Great design only matters if it’s built well,” DeFatta said. “That happens when the right processes are in place, standards are clearly defined, and the right people are aligned and held accountable.”
The responsibility of building homes that will serve as the backdrop for families’ lives is something DeFatta carries personally and instills in his team daily. “That responsibility is deeply meaningful to me,” he said. “The homes we build become the backdrop for Christmas mornings, birthday celebrations, quiet everyday moments, and the milestones that shape a family’s life. We never take lightly what happens within the walls of a home.” This perspective also influences how DeFatta guides clients through design decisions, helping them balance inspiration with longevity. “Trends can be appealing in the moment, but timeless design is what lasts,” he said. “Our role is to help clients understand what they are drawn to and interpret that through proportion, scale, and architecture so the home lasts beyond any one moment in time.”
Behind every project is a culture DeFatta describes as rooted in ownership, humility, and excellence. From the first client interaction to the final walk-through, alignment across the team is essential. “From sales and design to construction and leadership, we operate with shared standards and a unified vision. We believe relationships matter. Details matter. And how we conduct ourselves matters.”
Looking ahead, DeFatta is energized by refinement rather than expansion alone, believing that, “The future of DeFatta Custom Homes is not about growth for growth’s sake. It’s about intentional progress, long-term relationships, and lasting impact. ”That philosophy is captured in the phrase that defines the brand today. “‘Distinctively DeFatta’ is more than a tagline. It is our identity and represents intentional design, disciplined execution, and a personal client experience.” In the end, the homes DeFatta Custom Homes builds are meant to be felt as much as they are seen--a reflection of values shaped by faith, refined through discipline, and carried forward with intention by a company committed to building with purpose and integrity for generations to come.

MORE A MOVE THAN
CREATING COMMUNITY THROUGH REAL ESTATE
Williamson County has a way of turning newcomers into neighbors, and the LCT Team was created with that spirit in mind. What started as a passion for serving people well quickly became a mission rooted in trust, education, and community connection. As growth has brought new energy to the area, the team has leaned in, guiding clients not just to the right home, but into the rhythms, relationships, and local culture that make this county feel special.
What inspired the creation of the LCT Team, and how has your mission evolved as Williamson County has grown and changed?
The LCT Team was created out of a genuine desire to serve people well. Not just through transactions, but through relationships. Early on, it became clear that clients needed more than market expertise; they needed guidance, trust, and a team who truly understood the fabric of Williamson County. As the area has grown and attracted people from all over the country, our mission has evolved to focus even more on education, connection, and advocacy. Growth brings opportunity, but it also brings complexity, and our role is to help clients navigate change while preserving the character and community that make this area so special.
How do you help clients go beyond simply buying or selling a home to truly feeling rooted in their new community?
We believe a home is just the starting point. From day one, we make it a priority to understand our clients’ lifestyles, interests, and values so we can help them plug into the right neighborhoods, schools, events, and local organizations. We introduce clients to builders, business owners, and community leaders, and we stay connected well after closing day. Whether it’s recommending local favorites,
inviting clients to community events, or supporting causes they care about, we focus on helping them feel like they belong.
What sets Williamson County apart as a place to live, and how do you help clients discover its hidden gems and local culture?
Williamson County offers a rare blend of charm, natural beauty, and forward momentum. You’ll find historic town squares, rolling countryside, vibrant local businesses, and a strong sense of pride among residents. We help clients discover the places that don’t always show up on a map. From the coffee shop where everyone knows your name, the back roads with the best sunset views, and the community events that bring neighbors together. Those details are what turn a location into a lifestyle.
Can you share a memorable story where your team helped a client forge meaningful connections after their move?
We’ve had many clients relocate from out of state who initially felt unsure about starting over in a new place. One family in particular moved without knowing anyone locally, and through introductions to neighbors,

schools, community groups, and local businesses, they quickly found their circle. Today, they’re deeply involved in the community and often tell us how connected they feel, not because of the house alone, but because of the relationships that grew from it. Seeing that transformation is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.
How does your team collaborate internally to create a seamless and supportive experience for your clients?
Our team works as a true collaboration, with each person bringing specific strengths to the table. From agents and marketing professionals to administrative support, everyone is aligned around clear communication and a shared commitment to service. We meet regularly, anticipate needs before they arise, and ensure clients always feel informed and supported. That teamwork allows us to deliver a consistent, thoughtful experience at every stage of the process.
What role do local partnerships and community involvement play in your approach to real estate?
Local partnerships are essential to how we operate. We work closely with builders, small businesses, nonprofits, and community organizations because strong communities are built through collaboration. Giving back and staying involved isn’t something we do on the side; it’s woven into our culture. Supporting local causes and businesses strengthens the relationships that make this area thrive, and it allows us to serve our clients in a more meaningful way.
How do you balance the emotional side of moving with the practical aspects of buying and selling real estate?
Moving is one of the most emotional transitions people experience, and we never lose sight of that. While we’re highly
strategic and data-driven when it comes to pricing, negotiations, and timing, we also lead with empathy. We listen, we communicate clearly, and we guide clients through decisions with patience and honesty. By addressing both the emotional and practical sides together, we help reduce stress and build confidence throughout the process.
What advice would you give to someone relocating to Williamson County who wants to make lasting connections here? Be open, get involved, and take the time to explore. Attend local events, support small businesses, volunteer, and introduce yourself to neighbors. This is a community that values relationships, and when you show up with a genuine interest in being part of it, connections happen naturally. Williamson County has a welcoming spirit, and those who engage with it tend to feel at home quickly.
What does success look like for your team?
For us, success isn’t measured only by sales. It’s measured by trust, longterm relationships, and the knowledge that our clients feel confident, supported, and connected long after their transaction is complete.

MID-CENTURY WARMTH, REIMAGINED
There’s a certain moment when a house stops feeling new and starts feeling like home. It isn’t marked by square footage or finishes alone. It is something quieter, more emotional. In this home, designer Kate Manz set out to do exactly that: give a newly built home a heartbeat and a soul.
Rather than treating the house as one sweeping statement, she approached each room as its own story, layered with meaning, memory, and texture. The result is a home that feels collected, personal, and deeply lived-in.
“Tackling each space and room as its own story and concept is how to make a new space feel personal,” Manz explains. “But bringing it all together cohesively is always the challenge.”
Her solution? Warmth, intention, and a strong belief in the power of people. In new builds it can take years for a home to shed its newness. For this project, the goal was to fast-track that sense of belonging by layering in pieces with history and heart. Vintage market finds, local artists, and meaningful objects play a starring role throughout the home.
“My love for design goes hand in hand with the people and stories that bring it to life,” she says. “I absolutely love seeing the evolution from concept to completion and all the elements and people that help bring those ideas to reality.”
That philosophy becomes especially important in the home’s expansive open-concept living area, where scale could easily overpower intimacy.

DESIGN TAKEAWAY:
In large rooms, architectural details like niches, built-ins, or material changes can create visual rhythm while giving meaningful objects a true home.
THE OPEN CONCEPT, REIMAGINED
The main living space is defined by bringing the outside in with sweeping outdoor views and generous proportions. Rather than fighting that openness, embrace it.
“The big open concept room really highlights the expansive outdoor views,” she says, “but making intimate spaces within that open room was really important.”
A layered niche wall, created in collaboration with the interior architect Nick Flower, brings both structure and softness to the room. It introduces texture, depth, and a place for unique objects and family heirlooms to live, turning negative space into a personal gallery.

POWDER BATH: SMALL ROOM, BOLD SPIRIT
If there’s one place Manz encourages clients to take risks, it’s the powder room. Here, she leaned into terracotta earth tones, layering textures and tile sizes for visual interest and warmth. Patterned and solid tiles work together, while textured wall cov erings and a sculptural stone sink elevate the space from func tional to delightful.

DESIGN TAKEAWAY:
Small spaces are ideal for experimentation. Mix patterns, finishes, and textures within a tight color family to create depth without overwhelm.
LOUNGE: A STUDY IN CALM AND DEPTH
Designed as a counterpoint to the openness of the main living area, the lounge is a cocoon, both peaceful, layered, and deeply versatile. It’s a place for reading, movie nights and slow mornings.
Rich tones and varied textures do the heavy lifting here, creating depth without heaviness. Soft lighting and custom upholstery make the room feel both intentional and effortless.
MATERIALS:
Virginia Sin pendant light, In Common With sconce, Arté Oblong wall covering in Ochre, Particular Tile in Vapor, Custom sage velvet sofa, Plush Vintage Moroccan rug
DESIGN TAKEAWAY:
When a room serves many purposes, let texture and tone create cohesion. A restrained palette with varied finishes keeps the space flexible and serene.
ENTRYWAY: A WARM WELCOME
The entryway sets the tone with a simple but powerful goal: Welcome to my home.
Natural stone underfoot grounds the space, while a soft vintage rug and living greenery immediately soften the experience. Art with personal meaning invites guests to linger rather than rush through.
MATERIALS:
Luca split stone pavers, Vintage Turkish rug, Plants, Virginia Sin Wall hook
DESIGN TAKEAWAY:
An entryway doesn’t need to be loud to be memorable. Combine tactile materials with one or two meaningful elements to create an instant emotional connection.
At its core, this home is a reminder that design isn’t about perfection, but rather it’s about feeling. By treating each room as its own narrative while weaving in warmth, history, and human connection, a space was created that already feels loved.

Bookcase Styling your
Tips for an Organized and Aesthetic Display
ARTICLE BY SHANNON ROBERTS
A bookcase is often more than just a storage unit for books; it’s a focal point of a room that can enhance the overall decor and reflect personal style. Styling a bookcase can be a rewarding endeavor, allowing you to showcase your literary collection and curate a space that feels inviting and visually appealing. Here are some tips to help you achieve a beautifully styled bookcase.
Styling a bookcase is a creative process that combines practicality with aesthetics. By using these tips, you can transform an ordinary bookshelf into a stylish, engaging focal point that complements your home’s decor while showcasing your personality and interests.
Step 1
Strategically Place Books on the Bookcase While Incorporating Decorative Elements.
When placing books back on the shelves, think about the arrangement, vertical stacks are more traditional, horizontal stacks more modern, or both for more visual interest. Adding decorative elements such as picture frames, vases, or sculptural objects to break the monotony. Incorporating items with varying heights can create a dynamic arrangement. Use larger items like art pieces or baskets on lower shelves and smaller decorative objects higher up. Aim for a balanced look while avoiding perfect symmetry. This creates an organic flow, drawing the eye naturally across the shelf. Incorporate asymmetrical groupings for added interest, mixing textures, colors, and shapes.
Step 2
Use Color Wisely and Add Natural Elements.
Color plays a role in styling a bookcase. You can opt for a monochromatic palette for a sophisticated look or introduce pops of color for a more energetic vibe. If your books are of various colors, pick a few colorful decorative pieces that complement or contrast them effectively. Integrating plants or natural elements can breathe life into your bookcase. Small potted plants can add color and texture.
Step 3
Create Zones and Add Personal Touches.
If your bookcase has multiple shelves, consider creating zones or themes for different sections. Infuse your personality into the bookcase through memorabilia, travel souvenirs, or personal artwork. These pieces add a storytelling dimension and make the space uniquely yours.
