The holidays are here and as the spirit of the season is among us, we often try to replicate what made the season feel so magical to us in our youth. The traditions we set for our own families often mirror some of what we experienced as a child, whether it is the smells, the sounds, the lights, the holiday activities or a combination of it all that reflect that best. This month, we highlight the magic of the season and what our city has to offer that helps spread holiday cheer. We’ve compiled several gift guides to make your shopping easier and that also support our local businesses. We highlight a local venue, a gift shop and introduce you to The Warren family and Bonnie and her grandson, Lee, who many of you probably didn’t know you already knew. We also highlight a fun way to get around, some fun places to visit, and share a great recipe from our friends at Merridee’s. Of course, we share some helpful information for planning and saving in the new year - but that is not all! Parks and were drawn to the campaign for Franklin’s first inclusive playground, Ellie G’s Dream World, soon to be built at the new Southeast Park in 2023. LeAnn Rimes Is On A Restorative Journey to Joy

CREATING IS HEALING LeAnn Rimes has had a career that spans 26 years. Hard to imagine since she just turned 40 last August, but Rimes shot to country music stardom at the ripe old age of 14 with the massive hit, "Blue." She captured an entire nation with that colossal voice and drew comparisons to the incomparable Patsy Cline. That was in 1996 and now, 26 years later, Rimes continues to wow us with her latest album, god’s work. LeAnn explains, "It's been an in-depth journey of turning inward. Her 19th album was three years in the making. The 12-track record features an eclectic group of accomplished artists, including Ziggy Marley, Mickey Guyton, Aloe Blacc, Ben Harper, Ledisi, Sheila E., Robert Randolph, Táta Vega, and more, that all contribute to the genre-bending sounds featured throughout. Says Rimes, "This album dives into the totality of the emotional landscape. Life had to happen as it did in order for the record to come to be." Rimes also begins “Joy: The Holiday Tour,” kicking off December 2nd and running through December 18th. Spanning six cities across the country, the tour lands at Nashville's Mother Church, the Ryman, on December 10th. Rimes says, "I last played at the Ryman in 2019, so it's been a moment. Both creative endeavors were born of LeAnn's desire to connect with people and the universe on a deeper level and differently than through her music. Justin Gilbert knows what it’s like to practice law from a fancy office on a high floor in a gleaming tower for a large firm. It’s what made him realize that there’s more to being an attorney than billing hundreds of dollars an hour to clients he never sees. That experience prompted him to return to his Middle Tennessee roots to form Music City Estate Law, a practice that enables him to assist clients one-on-one while providing time and space for him and his wife to raise their young family. Recently, we met with Justin to find out how he arrived at this point in his career. Here are some excerpts from that conversation.

WHY DID YOU GO INTO LAW IN GENERAL AND ESTATE LAW IN PARTICULAR? Law, in general, is about helping people. Because legal documents and the legal process can be confusing, intimidating, and frustrating to people who don’t understand them. We use our legal background and training to craft solutions for each client’s need. I enjoy estate planning because I get to work with families in a very personal way. Oftentimes, they are stressed and overwhelmed because a family member is sick or has recently passed away. It’s a great feeling to be able to hold their hand, guide them through the process, and help relieve some of their anxiety. It’s about relationships and trying to help people.

WHAT ARE SOME COMMON MISCONCEPTIONS ABOUT ESTATE LAW? Many people are under the belief that by having a will they’ll bypass probate, which

is the court process of winding down an estate so that bills are paid and to ensure that the money goes to the intended beneficiaries. That is the furthest thing from the truth. In fact, there’s a new law which almost guarantees that if you have a will, and if you owned assets solely in your name, without a designated beneficiary, at the time of your death, then your estate will trigger probate. Another misconception is that people think the process is much more complicated than it is. We pride ourselves on making the process easy and as painless as possible. The comment I hear most often is, ‘Wow, that wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be.’

WHERE AROUND TOWN ARE PEOPLE LIKELY TO SEE YOU? Definitely at school. My wife, Chelsea, and I have two kids at Clovercroft Elementary and two kids at Woodland Middle School. The older kids are involved in wrestling and lacrosse and my younger son and daughter do theater. We’re very active at our church and I am on the Heritage Foundation’s planned giving committee, called the 1799 Society. We’re taking a more active role in that to support the good work they do here in Franklin and Williamson County. Since homebuilding began, there have been several improvement projects which have proven to be particularly popular with homeowners across the country. However, despite the wide range of remodeling projects, one area of the home seems to have often been overlooked – the garage. All in all, it is a very comfortable and fun process for both our clients and our designers.” To prepare for the project implementation, homeowners will need to temporarily clean out their garages of any boxes, tubs and other items taking up storage space. These items can be returned to the garage as soon as the cabinet and/or flooring installation is complete, which usually takes just one day. Depending upon the size and complexity of the project, most projects can go from approval to completion within just a few weeks. Has a smell ever transported you straight into a memory? Maybe cedar sparks visions of Christmas time, or florals carry a reminder of a beloved relative. No matter the scent, a burning candle can bring waves of welcomed nostalgia. Upon moving to Franklin from Colorado, Michele Huff was ready for a new passion project. Warren Bradley Partners have built their 36-year business knowing the ins-and-outs of every neighborhood in Nashville and Franklin. However, it’s leveraging their experiences in the community that allows them to find the best fit for their buyers. Ask owner, Wendy Warren Bradley, how she builds this knowledge base and she’ll share any number of community experiences that she commonly shares with her clients. “We love trying new restaurants and supporting the arts,” she said as an example. “We live in Brentwood, so we enjoy strolling around the Nolensville Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. Sometimes I’ll take my dog to the trail at Pinkerton Park.” Fox and Locke in Leiper's Fork is a weekend favorite. You never know who will be on stage as you are eating lunch. It’s these types of experiences that enable Wendy to connect with people of all types, whether they are extroverted socialites or more passive members of the community. “We go out to eat often,” she says. “We’re big restaurant people and all about the food scene. Two of our favorites are Red Pony

and Culaccino. We also really like Herban Market off Franklin Road near our office. My favorite thing to order is the Cajun salmon tacos.” She loves to tell everyone who is looking to settle in the Franklin and Brentwood area about the different festivals throughout the year. “We never miss Dickens of a Christmas or any Heritage Foundation festivals,” she says. “Another fun way to truly feel the vibe of Franklin is to stop in the shops and galleries during the free Franklin Art Crawl occurring every first Friday of the month.” Visiting festivals is one tradition of the Bradley family, but Wendy says she has many other favorites. During the Thanksgiving holiday she says the morning is spent helping others before they settle down for their own turkey dinner at her house or her mother's. “Over the years we’ve participated in the Boulevard Bolt, which benefits Nashville’s homeless community. Other tradition-building recommendations she has are visiting Chad’s Winter Wonderland in Lebanon or making it a habit to go Christmas light viewing at Cheekwood Botanical Gardens. One thing is for certain, to be an expert for others you must become an expert yourself, and Wendy and the Warren Bradley Partners family have spent a lifetime as a vested member of this community. Twinkling lights. Christmas tree lots. Frosted window displays. Sledding, ice skating, and snowball fights. Running into friends on Main Street. Hot cocoa by the fireplace. These are images that come to mind when we think of Christmas time in Franklin. Emmy-nominated television host Megan Alexander encapsulated these scenes and joyous feelings in her new children’s book, "The Magic of a Small Town Christmas."

Megan may have lived in big cities like New York and San Antonio, but her roots are in Edmonds, Washington. Heartbeat Falls, where the story takes place, is a reflection of the town she grew up in as well as a combination of all of the festive towns she’s visited in her UPtv show "Small Town Christmas." In the first season, she traveled to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania; Natchitoches, Louisiana; Summerville, South Carolina; and Branson, Missouri. Season 2 is now available and features travels to Elijay, Georgia; North Pole, Alaska; Pigeon Forge, Tennessee; and Frostburg, Maryland. Franklin, Tennessee made a sweet and subtle appearance with an ode to a special neighbor. Megan explains, “In the book we visit the town bakery, Sherry’s. Sherry is my neighbor who lives just down the road from me. She’s a really great friend of mine and one of the people I share all my projects with, so I had to include her in the book. She is a wonderful cook and her daughter also makes cookies professionally.” Megan loves reading children’s books as much as her three kids, especially for the captivating illustrations. She was thrilled to bring back Hiroe Nakata to illustrate the Christmas book after she illustrated Megan’s first children’s book, "One More Hug." Hiroe makes an effort to create some characters that look like Megan’s family, which makes flipping through the pages even more fun and memorable. Megan laughs, “The part when we’re in the kitchen baking, the kids resemble my kids, and she slipped in my dog.” Baking Christmas desserts is something she loves to do every year. She says, “My grandma left us all a cookbook of her recipes, so I try to go through that. Two years ago, I tried to make a Yule log cake, which is definitely harder than it looks!” This year, she’s ready to continue other Christmas traditions including decorating the house, hosting a grand Christmas party, and shopping locally in downtown Franklin. Her family also loves to drive around town with another family to view all the Christmas lights. When sisters Alexis Drake and Amanda Fuller first walked into Columbia’s Magnolia Acres to join a wellness retreat, Alexis turned to Amanda and said, “I feel like I just got home for the first time in my life.” Magnolia Acres has that effect on people. It’s like wandering onto the set of your favorite southern movie, with its long alley of towering sycamores leading to an 1850 white-columned mansion. A massive magnolia tree stands sentry near the front entrance, the keeper

of memories for those who have gathered here over the past 172 years. The main house is surrounded by 10 serene acres of former farmland. Magnolia Acres has partnered with Elia Day Spa’s owner, Nichole Nace, who offers “spa days” for spa clients to relax at the estate and enjoy treatments like massages and facials in the cabin adjoining the swimming pool. Alexis knew what she would create with this property, if only it could be hers. “I asked the retreat hostess if the owner would consider selling, and she said, ‘Oh no, she would never sell it.’ Then, last October, I heard the property was going on the market.” Alexis jumped at the opportunity. “I knew how special this place is, and how much history it has, and I want to make it so others can build on its history and make memories of their own.” Alexis worked as a San Diego hospital manager for 17 years before she and her family moved to Tennessee, where she became an esthetician. Before long, she realized her true calling is hospitality. She curates a collection of homemade soaps, fresh flowers, champagnes, and other touches that she adds to her guests’ experiences.

The estate can be rented for reunions, retreats, weddings, showers, even film and photo shoots. “Kelsea Ballerini and Reba McEntire have shot here,” says Alexis. “The band ‘Need to Breathe’ wrote their latest album here.” The main house has five bedrooms and can sleep 16 people. There are four bathrooms, formal and casual dining rooms, a family room with fireplace, living room with grand piano, decks and porches with twinkling string lights, and a dreamy kitchen flooded with sunlight from a wall of southern-facing windows. Other house amenities include heated marble bathroom floors, soaking tubs and linen duvet covers. Located only ten minutes from Columbia’s public square, the estate is a popular destination for locals and travelers alike. “I’d like to bring new things to Columbia,” says Alexis. “Farm-to-table dinners, wine and painting nights, Santa’s workshop, mother-daughter teas.” One only needs to visit Magnolia Acres to know Alexis’ dreams will soon become reality! Welcome to Abby Leigh Gifts, a family-owned gift shop located in Berry Farms and named after store-owner Janis Gaudette’s two now-grown daughters. Dan and Janis Gaudette have always had a love for Christmas. Dan was a retired Nissan executive and Janis had a career in technology before becoming a full-time mom. They started doing Christmas shows as a hobby in 2008, renting a booth in a co-op at Opry Mills. Loving this concept, they decided to open their own co-op in 2009 with 22 merchants in downtown Franklin called The Shoppes on Main. Janis loved their time on Main Street, but when her lease wasn’t renewed in 2018, she “thought she wasn’t finished just yet with her retail career.” Their oldest daughter Abby had recently moved to Berry Farms and one day while driving around, they saw a space to lease near the Publix, giving retail another shot and opening Abby Leigh Gifts in November 2019. The store was originally named after their two beta fish, but when the fish died on the same day Janis was filing her corporate papers, she decided this wasn’t a good sign! So she then named the store after her daughters, Abby and Leigh. Abby is a pharmacy tech at the Publix next to

the store and younger daughter Leigh joined her mother at the store full-time after graduating from college in 2020. “I have the best of both worlds with my two daughters. I see Leigh every day at work, and Abby eats lunch at the store on the days she works at the pharmacy.” “The holidays are always big at Abby Leigh Gifts,” notes Janis. “We like to say the store looks like ‘Christmas threw up’ because we go crazy with decorations. This year we’re excited about our handpainted egg ornaments which are very delicate but make a wonderful keepsake.” Their top jewelry line is E Newton gold-filled, tarnish-resistant jewelry. “Customers love stacking the bracelets and mixing the many styles and colors,” says Janis. “Another top seller is Ronaldo Jewelry which is 14K gold and sterling silver.” The store recently expanded into the space next door allowing them to add more furniture, lamps, artwork, and pillows to their inventory. “Our greatest compliment was from a customer who said some days she comes to Abby Leigh to look around when she's having a bad day. Explore Nature, Waterfalls, Food and Art Along the Natchez Trace Parkway At 444 miles in length, the scenic Natchez Trace Parkway spans three states, including Tennessee (along with Alabama and Mississippi). This recreational road roughly follows what was known as “Old Natchez Trace,” a historic corridor traveled long ago by American Indians, slave traders, soldiers, European settlers and others. After a while, “Old Trace” fell out of use, but was reestablished in 1930 by the National Park Service. The Parkway, completed in 2005, connects populated areas to the quiet serenity of nature. In addition to a great place to take a road trip, many hikers, bicyclists, and horseback riders take advantage of the beautiful trails, waterfalls, ponds, and picnic areas along the Natchez Trace National Scenic Trail, which runs alongside the Parkway. Walk in the footsteps of those who traveled the trails long ago and discover the many areas where you can camp, fish and hike. There are also wonderful towns close by where you can explore, dine on some delicious Southern food and tour an art gallery. For many families, spending time along Natchez Trace has become a beloved tradition. So take some time out of your busy life to slow down and appreciate all that nature has to offer. Here are just a few places worth visiting on your next venture along the Natchez Trace Parkway.

NATCHEZ TRACE PARKWAY BRIDGE (MILEPOST 438) Located right in Franklin, this concrete double-arch bridge is one of Tennessee’s landmark structures and a great place to take pictures. Built in 1990 to avoid bulldozing both sides of Birdsong Hollow to complete the parkway, it spans a tree-dotted valley below.

Not too far from the bridge, this lovely park is filled with wonderful spots for hiking and communing with nature. At the interpretive center, pick up a map and even borrow a handmade walking stick to make the hike a little easier. And be sure to make your way to the Big East Fork Reserve loop trail to view a gorgeous pond and a meadow bursting with wildlife.

If you love the look and sound of waterfalls, put Fall Hollow on your list to visit. Stand on the observation deck overlooking water tumbling over a sheer rock wall. Continue on the trail to discover even more falls, plus a sparkling clear pool in which to wade and play beneath the cascading water.

This quaint little village is a true hidden gem filled with antique stores, incredible restaurants, art galleries and more. It’s a place along the Parkway that both locals and tourists enjoy.

“Community and family - that’s where it’s at,” simply states Bonnie Sanchez, owner of Times Past and Present. Bonnie and the Factory at Franklin have been ‘family’ since 1999. But what makes this store unique is the four generations of family who have worked together to create a family legacy. Currently Bonnie and her grandson, Lee Richards, work side by side. Watching their interactions is akin to watching a Hallmark movie - you know, the ones where everyone gets along, loves each other, and simply cannot complement each other enough. But this isn't a Hallmark movie - this is their real life. When asked about their journey as a family business, Lee instantly defers to Bonnie. She replies, “No, you tell the story, I love listening to you.” The admiration is mutual and their respect and love for each other is palpable. Having newly relocated to Franklin from Illinois, Bonnie explored the Factory at Franklin at her mother’s behest. Bonnie appreciated the “neat vibe” and noticed the opportunity to lease spaces. Her mother, Shirley, herself an antique shop owner, pointedly asked Bonnie about partnering to start a gift and antique store in the Factory. “I was nervous but I agreed to a three-year lease.” Driven by a fear of failure or possibly letting anyone down, Bonnie continually works in earnest to make the store “visit worthy.” Adds Lee, “She is very modest. She works hard and strives to carry items people want.” Bonnie frequently drops pearls of wisdom which

are not lost on Lee. “What you’re familiar with and comfortable with drives you and becomes your motivator. You have to do what you know and love.” Coming to the store with his mom, Tiffany, since he was a one-year-old, Lee fondly recalls fun times spent making cardboard concoctions and creating drawings in the back room. Lee began working in the store throughout high school and returned to the store after serving our country. An accomplished artist, Lee now draws artwork freehand for several of the shirts Bonnie proudly sells. Bonnie is his biggest cheerleader. Lee admits he would not work there if not for his Nana. “I don't know how she does it. It is a lot of stress and overwhelming to me to keep it running the taxes, rent, what, where, how and when to order. I leave that to her. I couldn’t do it!,” which elicited encouragement from Bonnie, “You’d be surprised. I know you could do it!” With Lee’s future goal of joining the Franklin Police Department, Bonnie sadly recognizes he may not be working alongside her soon. “I get that. It is the progression in life. Lee will move on and do things he wants to do. I just love having him here. It is just selfish of me. If anyone needs anything, Lee is the person to have around, but I sure will miss him in the store.” Lee gushes, “I have the best Nana in the whole world!” “The greatest gift in life is family,” concludes Bonnie to which Lee quickly agrees. Who could ask for anything more?

Merridee’s Breadbasket, PA S T A ND P RESEN T

Now that December’s frost is on the lawns, what better way to knock off the chill than to step into the sweet warmth of Merridee’s Breadbasket? Originally owned by Merridee McCray and family, the Minnesota-born baker of Swedish descent was a blue ribbon winner before she was a business owner. After winning several first place prizes in the Tennessee State Fair for her baked goods such as Swedish tea rings, whole wheat rolls, and lemon meringue pie, Merridee began selling her treats out of a log cabin in Fairview. In 1984 she was invited to move her bakery to Fourth Avenue into what used to be the old Bennett’s Hardware warehouse, as part of a campaign to bring life back to downtown Franklin. Today, Merridee’s Breadbasket happens to be the oldest running retail business in downtown Franklin. Jim Kreider has been the current owner of Merridee’s since the fall of 1994 – not long after Merridee’s passing. A tree stands in her memory in what’s known as Five Points of downtown Franklin. “I just thought that was really cool,” said Jim about the memorial. “It’s emblematic of how loved she was by her local community.” He and his staff have preserved the quality and the spirit that Merridee founded in her bakery and have proved it over the years by winning several awards such as Best Bakery in Williamson County and others. Patrons still love the old favorites like the chicken salad, the molasses cookie, and the fruit tea, but don’t miss Merridee’s Christmas menu including Cherry Cream Cheese Candy Canes and Peppermint Brownies.

PEPPERMINT BROWNIES INGREDIENTS • 1/2 cup butter, melted • 1/2 cup oil • 2 cups sugar • 4 eggs • 2 teaspoon vanilla - Combine ingredients and mix until well combined, using a whisk or stand mixer. Scant 3/4 cup cocoa powder • 1 cup all-purpose flour • 1/2 tsp salt • 1/2 tsp baking powder DIRECTIONS 1. Combine dry ingredients then add to egg mixture and stir until just combined. 2. Pour batter into a 9x13 pan and bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes. Turn halfway through baking and bake until done. 3. Cool and top with peppermint frosting (recipe below). 4. Decorate with chocolate or ganache drizzle and white/red chocolate curls.

PEPPERMINT FROSTING: • 3 cups powdered sugar • 6 oz butter • 1/2 tablespoon peppermint • 2 tablespoons milk DIRECTIONS 1. Combine powdered sugar and butter. Using a mixer on medium speed, mix until color and texture have lightened. Scrape the bottom of the bowl at least once while mixing. Add peppermint extract and milk, mix until combined.

Why an SBA Loan May Be Right for Helping Make Your Small Business Dreams a Reality

Have you ever dreamt up the perfect business idea but got cold feet when it came to making your dream a reality? For many people who want to bring their small business dreams to life, the monetary aspect of financing a small business startup can be overwhelming. An SBA loan—a loan guaranteed by the U.S. Small Business Administration —could be the right solution to get your small business up and running. “SBA lending is a great place to start or expand a business,” says Mark Niethammer, CapStar Banks’s Director of Government Guaranteed Lending for the greater Nashville area. “With full-term financing options, minimal equity requirements, and flexibility for the unknown, you are putting yourself in the best possible situation to succeed. One of the most rewarding things about my job is helping people with a vision turn their dreams into reality.” There are many reasons that SBA loans could be a good approach for those looking to finance a small business. “SBA loans are used primarily for businesses that can’t secure traditional financing or the financing that is available is on very egregious terms,” explains Niethammer. “The goal behind the SBA program is to get capital in the hands of small business at an affordable rate.” SBA loans can be applied for through an SBA lender, which in many cases could be your bank. While the paperwork is extensive and there are specific requirements that must be met to be eligible, there are many reasons why an SBA loan may be a good fit for launching or expanding your small business. First, there are lower equity requirements for an SBA loan. With the minimum equity requirement

being only 10%, this makes it more accessible than conventional financing, which can require 25% or more equity out of the gate. Another positive point about SBA loans is that they typically offer longer terms than traditional commercial loans, resulting in a lower monthly payment. Furthermore, SBA loans are known for their single default provision. “The only way a financial institution can call an SBA note is for non-payment,” explains Niethammer. “As long as you never miss your payment, you’re in control.” Unlike many commercial loans, an SBA loan is a full-term loan that behaves a lot like a consumer mortgage. “With full-term financing, it takes the refinance risk off the table and allows small business owners to really just focus on their business and not the mechanics of financing,” says Niethammer. “There’s a bit of lifeline that happens with the SBA that may not occur with traditional financing, which is the ability to do up to 90 days of a deferment.” Niethammer provides real-life examples of people his team have worked with who have had to defer, including someone who took out a loan and shortly after had their wife get diagnosed with cancer. Another example is that of a person unable to work due to an industrial accident. “So, without any question or concern, we have the ability to stand behind the customer and help support them,” he explains regarding the deferment option. “It’s a great safety net built into the program.” So if launching a small business is one of your goals for the new year, see if applying for an SBA loan may be right for you! Giving Campaign Now in its third year, the City Lifestyle Giving Campaign will give away $300,000 this holiday season to help individual community members who would benefit from a helping hand during their time of need. No identities will be revealed or publicized in ANY way. (Even those who nominate others may remain anonymous if they choose.) Last year, City Lifestyle was able to give to more than 70 recipients all over the country by sending checks in the mail through New Year’s Eve. (This year, the goal is to double that number with checks ranging in amounts up to $3,000 each.) With nominations flooding in from community members and leaders such as judges, police officers, teachers, nurses, social workers, mentors and readers like you, we were able to reach people who might otherwise go unnoticed. “We believe in giving back and serving the communities where we live in a real and tangible way,” says Steven Schowengerdt, CEO and founder of City Lifestyle. “This Giving Campaign is all about personally impacting the lives of people we know with an unexpected check in the mail just to say that someone thought of them this holiday season.” Together with Matthew Perry, Chief Sales Officer, Steven adds that the outpouring and gratitude from the recipients was overwhelming and affirmed that this is a tradition they want to continue. “We believe God has blessed our company with continued success,” Matthew adds, “so we in turn want to be a blessing to others.” City Lifestyle has also enacted an internal giving program whereby every employee in the company receives $100 to give away to someone in the community. “The idea is to encourage our employees to keep doing it on their own,” Steven says. “Taking care of one another and blessing others is so rewarding that it perpetuates a cycle of giving. It’s extremely important to me as a person and as a company to foster that culture of generosity.”

+ 1 box red velvet cake mix, plus ingredients called for on box + 2 (8-oz.) blocks cream cheese, softened + 1/2 cup powdered sugar + 2 tablespoon. heavy cream + 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1. Preheat oven to 350º and line a muffin pan with cupcake liners. Prepare red velvet cake batter according to box directions. Divide batter among liners and bake until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 18 to 20 minutes. Let cool completely. Break 4 cupcakes into small crumbs. Save remaining cakes for another use. 2. In a large bowl using a hand mixer, beat cream cheese and powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Add heavy cream and vanilla and beat until stiff peaks form. 3. Line a large baking sheet with parchment. Using a small cookie scoop, scoop cream cheese mixture into balls and place on prepared baking sheet. Transfer to the freezer to chill, 1 hour. 4. Roll balls in red velvet cake crumbs until fully coated, then return to prepared baking sheet. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
