A LOOK AT THE RE-BATH LEGACY SERVING FRIENDS ACROSS THE FRONT RANGE

There are so many reasons you may want to remodel your bathroom. Maybe it’s the chipped paint in the tub, or the linoleum coming up along the edges. Maybe your bathroom just feels and looks outdated, or it’s just not the spa-inspired oasis you’ve imagined it could be. Safety concerns are a huge reason to renovate. With new slip-resistant technology and grab bars that seamlessly fit into the design, you know safety is the number one priority in your bathroom, but it looks like the aesthetic is. Whatever the reason for your bathroom remodel, who are you going to call to take on such a job?

You’re in luck! There are some local experts who are transforming the bathrooms of Northern Colorado, one home at a time. Not only are they a staple of their community, but they have some definite differences from their competition. Re-Bath of Northern Colorado is here to take that outdated bathroom into 2023 and beyond with their expertise, second-to-none service and safety features that are perfectly woven into your design. With deep local roots, Re-Bath of Northern Colorado has been serving their community for more than 26 years. Located in Berthoud, this location serves communities all over Northern Colorado. Owned by Mark Whaley, Re-Bath has become a family affair. His son Jeremy, a Berthoud High School graduate, works alongside his dad to bring their clients, who happen to be friends and neighbors, the bathrooms of their dreams. In the beginning, when Whaley first started his Re-Bath franchise there were only 3 colors to choose from. Re-Bath has grown and changed with the times and trends. Now, there are myriad of colors, materials, and finishes to choose from. Design trends have changed a lot, even in bathrooms. Re-Bath bathrooms fit right into any home decor design. From Contemporary to Modern to Rustic, Re-Bath has a color and bathroom design that will take even the most outdated bathroom into a sparkling, relaxing sanctuary. Always keeping safety in mind, Re-Bath has many options to ensure your bathroom is slip-resistant and as safe as possible. Re-Bath offers complete and partial bathroom remodels. They can update your tub or shower, to meet with yoru changing needs. Re-Bath has all kinds of solutions for aging and accessibility concerns, and each solution lends itself to your design, not detracting from it. A lot has changed for Re-Bath in the last 26 years. But some things stay constant, like who they serve, the quality of materials they use, and many of their employees. Re-Bath is proud to be the choice of their friends and neighbors alike. They know that their quality and prices have to be right because they want to do the best job possible for their customers. They see those whose baths they’ve done all over the community and they hold their head high, knowing they have truly served their community with high-quality materials, and a high-quality job is done, by experts in their field. They keep their prices as low as they can, hard to do these days, to be able to serve as much of their community as possible. Offering the design process for free is a big part of what separates Re-Bath from its competitors. You can also schedule a free, no-pressure consultation with Re-Bath so you know exactly what to expect with your remodeling project. During this consultation a designer will come to your home with sample colors, materials, and finishes. The designer will get to know you, your personal style, and what your needs are. They can suggest different options so that you get exactly what you want, and even more. Customers of Re-Bath know to expect incredible results from their bathroom remodel. But what about during the remodel? Homeowners can expect to see the same faces there working every day. Re-Bath doesn’t hire subcontractors.

THANKS TO RE-BATH YOUR REMODEL TOOK A FRACTION OF THE TIME YOU EXPECTED. YOU CAN’T GET RESULTS LIKE THESE FROM ANYONE ELSE. YOU ALSO KNOW IT’S IMPORTANT TO SUPPORT LOCAL, TO KEEP THE VISION ALIVE OF A COMMUNITY WHERE NEIGHBORS SERVE THEIR NEIGHBORS, ALL SUPPORTING EACH OTHER AND THE COMMUNITY.

They ensure every element of your remodel is just as you want it to be. Whaley has his general contractors license as well as his master plumbers license. He knows how important it is to get each part of the job finished before moving on to the next. This is why Re-Bath can remodel your bathroom in a fraction of the time as their competition. They do each and every step, ensuring quality all along the way. There’s never a wasted day, waiting on a contractor. After more than 26 years, what’s next for Re-Bath? The future is bright, as the company keeps growing its reach, and continuing to innovate with new products, colors, finishes, and materials. to meet every customer's unique needs. Whaley and his colleagues, many of whom have worked for him for more than a decade, continue their education every year. They know to stay on top of their industry there is always something to learn and new products every year. Re-Bath has at least 2 new colors coming out this year. These new colors which come out year after year, keep Re-Bath on top of the trends and at the top of their industry. Imagine your bathroom remodeled. A sparkling tub or walk-in shower inviting you to relax. Built in shower caddies and shower benches ensuring all of your necessities have a space to be put away, keeping your shower and tub clean and tidy. Tiled floors that keep your bathroom looking clean and chic, while offering you peace of mind because of their slip-resistant technology. A sink with sparkling handles and completely free of drips and stains. Your bathroom looks more like a spa than a bathroom after your remodel.

To create a truly haute couture vibe, consider mixing and matching an array of plants in a single room. Play with different planters, such as elegant hanging baskets, sleek wall planters, or stunning terrariums, to add depth and dimension to the space. Consider incorporating various textures, such as woven wicker baskets or handcrafted ceramic pots, to create a layered look that exudes luxury. One trend in the world of indoor plants is showcasing rare and exotic species, such as the magnificent bird-of-paradise or the awe-inspiring monstera deliciosa. These unique specimens serve as focal points in a room and are sure to draw the eye, showcasing the beauty and splendor of nature.

BUILDING DREAMS ARTICLE BY JAHNA EICHEL PHOTOGRAPHY BY JORDAN KLEPZIG

Navona Architecture's Vision For Downtown Cheyenne

Navona Architecture is a premier design firm that provides innovative and resilient solutions to its clients. The company was founded by Stephanie Bedinghaus in 2019 and is dedicated to creating spaces that allow communities and businesses to flourish. The name Navona Architecture was inspired by Piazza Navona in Rome, Italy, a place that has evolved over the years to meet the needs of the current generation. Stephanie believes that every building design should embody this principle of resilience and evolution. The company's design culture is guided by the motto "Listen first, then innovate and design." This means that the firm places a high priority on understanding the underlying desires of its clients before delivering a solution that meets those needs. Navona Architecture is committed to creating beautiful, functional, and resilient architecture for generations to come. One example of Navona Architecture's work is the Blue Stem Winehouse, a historic building that was originally built as a residence in 1911. Over the last century, the building has served many purposes, but it is now being transformed into a winehouse. The owners are excited to bring back an Art Deco vibe to the space, with gold walls, burgundy curtains, Art Deco furniture, and antique attained glass lighting. The winehouse will feature a warm and cozy fireplace, a beautiful black waterfall counter, mahogany shelving to showcase the wine selection, and a basement that will be used for fermentation. Navona Architecture's team is made up of talented architects, designers, and engineers who have extensive

STEPHANIE BEDINGHAUS

Stephanie’s love for architecture began early; at the age of eleven, she was designinghouses - floor plans and elevations. Growing up in a neighborhood with houses constantlyunder construction, she loved exploring the houses before the drywall went up - walkingbetween studs, knowing they would soon be covered with sheathing and finishes and only afew people would know what’s “hidden” behind all that paint. Now, as an architect, she loves working with clients to see their vision go from ideas ornapkin sketches to structure and finishes. Her organizational and problem-solving skills, aswell as her attention to detail and drive to create the best solutions for her clients, makedesigning architecture a lifelong love for her.

Pa ntone’s C olor of the Ye a r for 2023 Article by Allie Bellows

It’s always an exciting time of year when Pantone’s color of the year is announced. This year is exhilarating because the color chosen for 2023 is a bold departure from recent colors chosen in the past few years. Pantone has chosen a vibrant, joyous, crimson hue called Viva Magenta. Easily integrated into any room or space, Viva Magenta is a perfect complement to nature-inspired neutrals as well as rich, dark tones. The Pantone Color of the Year is a color chosen by Pantone, the world’s industry leader in color expertise. This color represents the global climate of the year. The shade gets instant fame and we start seeing it everywhere. From fashion to beauty to interior design, the color chosen for the year is suddenly everywhere. Pantone wants to show people the power color can have and the importance of it in our lives. Vice President of Pantone’s Color Institute, Laurie Pressman described the color choice as “an unconventional shade for an unconventional time.” Viva Magenta represents the global culture of today. It’s

a color that embodies celebration, and a new global chapter that is a story of our connection to each other through globalization while embodying power and grace. This color represents the confidence to move forward into a new era. Viva Magenta is deeply influenced by all the vibrancy nature has to offer The color is reminiscent of bright flowers such as Amaryllis, Cymbidium, and Gerbera blooms. It has a similar hue to the heart of a beet, a prickly pear cactus fruit, or the inside of a tropical dragonfruit. It is one of the most luscious and vibrant hues in nature. What does this mean for interior design? This color is exciting as we’re seeing more and more of a move away from minimalism and starkness. This hue embodies celebration and warmth. It’s a bold choice and is going to be a statement when used as part of a cohesive design. This exciting hue can be integrated into any space or any room in your home. It will be more than just an accent piece here and there. This color will be used liberally as an

accent wall color, tile colors, as well as many accent pieces. Viva Magenta can be texturized in many ways. The hue takes to texture extremely well. We are sure to see this color used in layers of texture, from a dry, desert-like texture used with clay accessories, to plush rugs, bringing a bright elegance to a space. It will give a space a sense of depth and richness, as the color is vibrant and fearless. With the rise in popularity of biophilic design, Viva Magenta will bring more bright flowers into designs as well as the greenery that has been on trend for a few years now. Biophilic design has been increasing in popularity among interior designers. The idea is to bring nature indoors and incorporate nature into the design of a space. This has been done with every shade of green imaginable. Viva Magenta, having roots in nature, will be part of this design in 2023 and beyond. This color is especially exciting for designers as it can be integrated into any work or home space and room. Viva Magenta is appropriate for every room and will give that room more than just a splash of color. It will provide a joyous undertone as well as a dramatic and theatrical flair. A big departure from the neutrals and stark whites of minimalism. This hue evokes feelings of passion, joy, and celebration. Every space can use a bit of these emotions connected with it. Viva Magenta is about the connections we are born into and how we integrate those into the people we are today and the connections we continue to make in our lives. The kitchen is very often the unofficial meeting place, it’s a place filled with memories and joy and now the colors used in kitchens are reflecting that. The kitchen is also where we connect to our past, through recipes and food of our culture. The vibrancy of the kitchen comes to life both in what the spirit of a kitchen is and with color livening up the space. Tiled backsplashes using Viva Magenta will brighten the kitchen and be visually stunning and attractive. As with any Pantone Color of the Year, we

28

A RT IST ’S PA LE T T E | ARTS + CULTURE

will soon see kitchen appliances in Viva Magenta. A beautiful magenta dutch oven will be an awe-inspiring touch to your stovetop. This coming year will also see cabinets painted in the hue, a bold and beautiful look. From kitchen accessories to appliances, Viva Magenta can be used all over the kitchen. It’s not to be used sparingly. The more color, the more joy is exuded from the kitchen. This bold choice of color is a great dramatic flair for any bedroom. Viva Magenta can be used all over your bedroom for a bright, joyous ambiance. Curtains can add texture to the design of the bedroom. Viva Magenta curtains will add an element of elegance. The versatility of Viva Magenta is what is really interesting about this hue. It can bring a luxurious and elegant element to a bedroom with a fluffy rug, ornate pillows, or a chaise lounge in the color. It can be used extremely well with a rustic style, with dressers, chests, and other wooden furniture distressed with Viva Magenta. Depending on the ambiance you desire in your bedroom, there is a way to incorporate Viva Magenta into any bedroom. Living rooms are not left out of Viva Magenta. As we’re seeing a rise in the popularity of large, round couches and sofas, we will see Viva Magenta fabrics used for these statement pieces. There will be ample opportunities to use this color in your living room design, as a statement piece, a plush rug, throw pillows and blankets, as well as curtains. Accent walls with the bright shade are going to be bold and a gorgeous addition to brighten up your space. Every kind of accessory imaginable from decorative tapestries to ottomans to funky chairs will be available in Viva Magenta. Viva Magenta can seamlessly be integrated into both traditional and contemporary designs. It can give a rejuvenating effect to antiques and give a modern spin to a coffee table. This color is so versatile. It can go with several textures and patterns, like stone and wood of all hues. Whatever design you weave it into, it will add color, drama, and depth.

Hygge A lifestyle not a passing trend The best way to be comfortable, cozy, and stylish for the last weeks of the winter season? Incorporate hygge into your interior design. Slip into a Scandanavian state of mind and get comfortable to embrace this inspiration for interior design that is more than just a trend. Hygge is a Danish word that was officially entered into the Oxford English Dictionary in 2017. Around this time the idea of incorporating hygge into interior designs was beginning to rise to fame. Hygge, pronounced hyoo-guh, isn’t a trend that will come and go. Its roots come from a similar Old Norse word meaning “protected from the outside world”. There isn’t an exact word for it in English. The closest would be “cozy” except it’s more than just being cozy. Hygge is a lifestyle, a state of mind, and one of the reasons Norway and Denmark are regarded as some of the happiest nations in the world. Not only is hygge a feeling or a state of mind, but it has turned into an informal decorating style for homes or other spaces. Why hygge itself cannot be bought or forced, interior designers have realized with their expertise they can inspire hygge and create a space conducive to achieving the feeling of hygge. Niche Design House, a luxury interior design firm based in Loveland, Colorado, brings you expert tips for how you can achieve this coziness and warmth in your own home. When you have your loved ones over to your house for a simple dinner or a board game, and you feel the joy, simply from being together, you will understand the magic within hygge. Hygge is all about connections. Not just connections to other people but connecting with nature. A wood floor is a great example of using sustainable materials to create a nature-inspired space. Wood floors not only look sleek and sophisticated, but wood floors are also a way for nature to inspire a design. The floor sets the initial mood or tone of a space. A wood floor instantly exudes the feeling of warmth. Nature is used as the base, the floor

30

M UST SE E | HOM E + D ES I GN

(literally), and the versatility it provides is immense. Wood looks stunning on its own, as well as with any texture of the rug. A wood floor is a great way to begin your hygge-inspired design. Continuing the connections and inspiration with nature, houseplants do more than add some green to your space. Plants represent the continuation of nature. Nature is outside and has transcended the walls and come inside. Plants make you more comfortable, even subconsciously, because of the oxygen they release. Plants give the ambiance of a space a boost of nature and softness. The idea of gathering around the fire seems to be in our human DNA.

For centuries the fireplace has been where friends and families gather. As everyone shares the warmth of the fire, stories are shared and conversations are had. You can encourage this kind of gathering by positioning your furniture around the fireplace. One of the big design trends as of recent is curved and round furniture. This trend has its roots in hygge-inspired designs. Curved furniture is a departure from the straight, stark lines of minimalist furniture. Instead, think of overstuffed, and deep-seated couches. A couch you can sink into as you sit down. Accent pieces like comfy pillows and decorative, yet functional, blankets top off the

feeling of hygge. Chunky cable knit blankets ready to be wrapped around your shoulders and plump, fuzzy pillows give the feeling of a happily lived-in living room. How you decide to decorate your space when evoking hygge is all about decorating with accent pieces that bring you joy and happiness. Many times this means family heirlooms or antiques. These accent pieces are not about staying on trend, but they’re about your personal style and happiness. Your space bringing you joy and happiness is something that will never go out of fashion. This will also bring a sense of uniqueness to your interior design.

While it’s important to experience hygge alone, it’s about connecting on a deeper level with something bigger than yourself. Connect to your inner being, your happiness. Connect with your friends and family and feel the joy and warmth just from being around them. Connect to nature and let nature inspire you and bring you a sense of comfort and balance in aesthetic, as well as ambiance, which is hygge. The interior design of your space should inspire these connections. Take on the mindset of some of the happiest people in the world and be inspired by not just their design style, but the lifestyles they live within these designs. 5 Hot Trends

in Kitchen Design A peek at what’s ahead: bold cabinet colors, statement hardware and swaths of stone.

When designing your dream kitchen, it’s important to balance timeless features with elements that reflect your personality and design aesthetic. You may not plan to remodel your kitchen each year (does anyone do that?), but that doesn’t mean there aren’t creative ways to keep your space feeling modern and fresh. We spoke with interior designer Brooke Cover about the trends in kitchen design she’s seeing this year, touching on everything from cabinet colors and lighting to tile and countertop combos she’s loving.

TA K I N G T H E C O U N T E R M AT E R I A L U P THE BACKSPLASH Although the iconic subway tile backsplash is timeless in its own right, Brooke says she is seeing a big shift toward marble slab backsplashes — which add drama and depth to the kitchen. Not only is it easier to clean than tile, but a marble backsplash and countertop also sets the tone for the entire space and makes a big statement. CONTINUED >

WA R M I N G U P THE WHITE We doubt the classic white kitchen will ever completely go out of style, but trends show people are going away from the white kitchen and gray cabinets. They’re opting for white mixed with warmer wood tones, dark greens and blues. Some homeowners are mixing vintage in with the new and modern through butcher block islands or other unique cabinetry choices. Black is making a bold comeback in some kitchens, while

others usher in warmth through painted islands or other darker contrast tiles in the bar area. You don’t have to leave behind the timelessness when you warm up your space if you opt for equally timeless black and wood-stained accents. If you want a quick refresh, consider adding pops of wood through cutting boards or other decor accents on countertops or open shelves.

HIDDEN STORAGE, VISIBLE APPLIANCES Gone are the days of it being a given to hide the fridge behind custom cabinets. Many brands of appliances are so beautiful and sleek these days, homeowners want to see them rather than hide them behind a cabinet facade. Small appliances, however, are another story. Custom cabinets and “appliance garages” aren’t going away anytime soon. Form and function make them a desirable addition to any kitchen.

BOLD H A R D WA R E Mixed metals and sizes are having a moment in kitchens across America. Brooke says not to shy away from a variety of sizes of pulls and handles, depending on the drawer and door size. For instance, you may see a mixture of longer pulls on larger drawers and square knobs on smaller glassware cabinets - and that’s more than just ok - that’s recommended. As the heart of the home, kitchens shouldn’t feel sterile and hyper-coordinated - they should feel inviting and tailored to the space. Since no two kitchens will be exactly alike, feel free to boldly mix the hardware sizes and styles to the needs of your kitchen. CONTINUED >

C O N T R A S T, C O N T R A S T, CONTRAST!

Brooke’s Pro Tip: I suggest viewing countertop slabs in person vs. a small sample piece because each slab has unique movement and colors. They are all so beautiful and works of art. Taking a trip to the warehouse will really help a client to understand the different types available and see the difference in the look of the material.

From painted and stained islands to dark lower cabinetry with bright white uppers and mixed lighting fixtures, contrast is the name of the game this year. You’ll see this juxtaposition between clean white and darker colors or even this year’s favorite - greens and blues - all over newly designed kitchens. You’re not breaking any rules by coordinating sculptural pendants over the kitchen island with more vintage-inspired gooseneck sconces over the standalone bar or a chandelier over the eat-in kitchen.
