LIFESTYLE LETTER
Built to Last: Year Three and On Mission
January 2026 PUBLISHER
Gavin Magee | gavin.magee@citylifestyle.com
Dear Fayetteville, It’s official. We’re entering Year 3 of Fayetteville City Lifestyle! What started as a vision has now grown into a platform that connects, celebrates, and uplifts this incredible community month after month. I’m grateful for every reader, story we have told, and partner who has made this journey possible. You’ve helped us build something with staying power and the most exciting part is that we’re still just getting started. It feels fitting that we kick off this milestone with our Health + Wellness Issue this time of year when many of us reset, realign, and refocus on what matters most. From what I have observed, real long-term wellness is about rhythm, rest, and actions that serve your life mission. It’s about aiming towards a target that has been defined, and the new year is a perfect time to build a target or reassess the current one. The target is a missional point to land on and something that requires aligning your mind, body, and spirit to accurately aim towards. We kept this at the forefront for this months theme. This issue, we explore the many ways health and wellness show up in everyday life. Retraining Your Brain highlights the life-changing work of LearningRx on our cognitive health. Wellness Simplified follows Amanda Wilson’s approach to lasting lifestyle habits. Unfolding Ease introduces a new laundry service giving time and peace back to families and time at home. A Dry Journey of Flavor features a local mocktail with purpose at Atlas The Restaurant. And on our cover, Chemical Fitness shares their new legacy of strength and transformation taking shape on Rolling Hills Road. Each story reminds us that wellness involves many elements that determine the fine tuning of our target. I am thankful for this third year of publishing and hope these pages catch you in stride, and hopefully continue to slow you down! I appreciate all the advocates of our publication - it is the fuel to our work and why we know it matters here in Fayetteville. I couldn't be more energized by the goals we have set for ourselves and the places we strive to reach with you this next year. Again, we are just getting started!

Wellness Elevated at Premier Dermatology At Premier, wellness isn’t a menu of isolated treatments—it’s a personalized, medically guided journey led by Dr. Missy Clifton and her team of advanced practice specialists. With advanced testing, regenerative therapies, and whole-body support, Premier offers clients the tools they need to thrive at every stage of life. Every patient’s journey starts with a face-to-face consultation to determine issues and set goals. Advanced diagnostics including PNOE VO2 max metabolic testing—a powerful assessment of oxygen usage, calorie burn, and metabolic efficiency—and DEXA Scan, the gold standard for analyzing fat, muscle, and bone composition can be performed to help clients understand their bodies at a deeper level. With this data, customized wellness plans, including nutrition and work out plans can be created specific to each client’s needs. Premier’s wellness center features Emsella, a breakthrough, non-invasive pelvic-floor strengthening treatment that helps improve bladder control for both women and men. For those navigating fatigue, mood changes, or metabolic slowdown seen in perimenopause, menopause and andropause, Hormone Replacement Therapy provides personalized support to restore energy and hormonal balance and sexual wellbeing. Hair and scalp concerns can be addressed with TrichoTest, a genetic-based analysis that guides targeted hair-health solutions. Patients are then given a comprehensive plan of supplements, growth factor therapy, red light therapy, and prescription treatments to reach their hair goals. Hair regrowth is monitored quantitatively with the advanced hair measurement tool called Hair Metrix. Those striving for long-term health and weight management can benefit from Premier’s Medical Weight Loss program, which pairs clinical oversight with modern therapies including peptides like GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonists in micro-doses to create safe and sustainable results. Other Peptide Therapies can be added to help with gut health, visceral fat burning, and muscle building. Certain additional peptides can be utilized to support cellular repair, injury recovery, hormone balance, sleep issues, inflammatory disorders like arthritis, and to enhance overall vitality. Adjunctive therapy with red light therapy and Infrared sauna treatments, provides a full body approach to recovery, aesthetic outcome improvement and overall longevity.

Chemical Fitness is offering an elevated and luxurious workout experience
If you’ve ever set foot in a typical gym, you know they can be places of chaos and questionable smells. The lines to use an exercise machine are often long. Dumbbell handles are sticky with sweat. The exercise machine you thought was ready for use is out of order. Someone three feet away from you is grunting loud enough to hear over your workout playlist. And the locker rooms are an unspeakable place of their own. Mark Stavely and Aly Gray, co-founders of Chemical Fitness, understood that gyms don’t have to be this way. They envisioned a place where taking control of your health felt luxurious, structured, and enjoyable. “At Chemical Fitness, our goal is to give people a place with like-minded individuals who want to work on their health, wellness, and overall well-being. Our gym is more than just a place to workout – it’s a community. We offer the best exercise programming possible in a luxurious, uplifting space,” Stavely said. Chemical Fitness elevates the fitness experience with intimate, high-energy classes built for people who are ready to push themselves and stay committed. To eliminate intimidation and encourage progress, the gym has ditched barbells entirely. Instead, every
workout is designed around dumbbells, kettlebells, machines, and bodyweight exercises. “We put you on a workout routine so that, outside of the studio, you’re fit for life. We want you to live as long as you possibly can – independent of other people’s help. We want you dancing when you’re old, playing with your grandkids, living fully and independently for as long as possible,” Stavely said. The group fitness classes, which focus on upper, lower and full body workouts, are always different, providing a new experience each time members walk through the doors. Additionally, Sunday workouts are set aside for Hybrid Athlete Training. Although scalable and open to all members, the workouts are created with different types of athletes in mind working towards races such as an Ironman, a Hyrox, a 5K or those just wanting to level up for a more intense training session. “The floor layout is never the same. Mark is a master programmer. The workouts he thinks of are complex but simple in the best way. Our members never know what they will walk into but always know it will be a great workout. Our instructors take pride in delivering the kind of classes that keep people excited to show up,” Gray said. CONTINUED >

“All of our members are success stories. Everyone who walks through The luxury experience extends far beyond the workout. Chemical Fitness’ signature scent welcomes members the moment they walk through the doors, setting the tone for a premium training environment. Inside, you’ll find a curated selection of amenities—including a beverage fridge stocked with protein shakes and fresh-pressed juices, top-tier supplements, a complimentary fruit and coffee bar, and an exceptional team of coaches and personal trainers ready to guide, support and elevate every session. “We handpicked the instructors and personal trainers here at Chemical Fitness, and we are proud of the team that we built. Our roster includes Northwest Arkansas’ top coaches. They each are very intelligent, are in all walks of life, have different ways of thinking, and they provide a good mix of programming,” Stavely said. Stavely and Gray have also worked diligently to ensure the gym’s bathrooms are always clean and stocked with the toiletries members may need. “We wanted all of the amenities to feel like a spa. Our bathrooms have showers, they smell nice, and they give our members the feel that, after their workout, they can freshen themselves up in comfort. Unlike typical gyms, it doesn’t smell like a junior high boys’ locker room,” Stavely added. The roots of Chemical Fitness were planted just before COVID-19 struck. Stavely, a former University of Arkansas football player and lifelong fitness enthusiast, began regularly training his friends in his garage. Once COVID-19 limitations eased up, he turned his training sessions into a career with the launch of his first gym: Do Hard Stuff Fitness. One year later, Stavely’s gym evolved. “We changed the name because ‘Do Hard Stuff’ intimidated people. Chemical Fitness was born from what actually happens when you workout – you release ‘feelgood chemicals’ like dopamine, oxytocin, serotonin, and endorphins. So, we built our identity around that,” Stavely said. Stavely partnered with Gray, a seasoned bodybuilder and professional fitness instructor, to bring the new vision to life. “I met Mark in my fitness class in Florida a few years ago. It was love at first workout, and we’ve been building together ever since. At Chemical Fitness, we get to blend our passion for fitness into something truly special,” Gray said.

experiences real transformation – not just physically, but in how they feel about themselves.”
Although Chemical Fitness only opened in May 2025, the response from the community is electric, according to Stavely and Gray. “All of our members are success stories. Everyone who walks through experiences real transformation – not just physically, but in how they feel about themselves. They love the atmosphere, they do the work, and the work works. We’ll guide you every step of the way,” Stavely said. For those who prefer a more personal touch, Chemical Fitness offers one-onone training sessions. And for groups — sororities, run clubs, business teams, or just a big group of friends — the gym also hosts private event classes. If you’re craving an elevated workout experience or feel that other gyms in the area are holding you back from meeting your fitness goals, Chemical Fitness is ready for you at 1010 E Rolling Hills Dr #120. “There are so many gyms in Northwest Arkansas where everything feels the same. We want Chemical Fitness to feel like home—an elevated, luxurious home that actually delivers the results you’re looking for.” Stavely said.

RUNNERS “THE CLUB BASICALLY STARTED WITH ME GETTING A BUNCH OF MY FRIENDS TOGETHER AND BEGGING THEM TO GO ON A RUN WITH ME.” - KATHERINE LEE
The Northwest Arkansas community is known for its avid mountain biking scene, and the region has graciously supported this beloved hobby with the establishment of miles and miles of interconnected trails and backroads. While these trails have provided paths for the bikers to explore the Ozarks, they also offer a wide selection of pathways for another popular subgroup of Northwest Arkansans: the runners. Many runners call the region home, and several have used their love for running as a method to form new communities. These social groups, often referred to as run clubs, invite runners of all ages, and paces to spend an hour or two of their day to run as a large group, bookended with a casual hangout at the end of the workout. One former University of Arkansas student combined her love for running with her desire to bring her friends together to form her own run club, and was shocked by how quickly it grew into one of the top run clubs in the area. Kathrine Lee, founder of the 479 Run Club, has been leading the club since March 2024. “The club basically started with me getting a bunch of my friends together and begging them to go on a run with me. I’ve always been into running, but I hate doing it alone. We have such amazing trails in Fayetteville that I would just always beg everyone I know to come and run with me,” Lee said. As more and more people started joining Lee on her runs, coordinating them became more difficult. To respond to the demand, Lee formed an Instagram account, which now has over 2,000 followers, and a Strava account, which has over 260 members, for easier access for the community. “The club has really taken off, especially this past fall. It’s crazy how fast it’s grown. I didn’t expect this at all,” Lee said. The running club, which is entirely free to participate in, currently meets on Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons around the Northwest Arkansas community. A typical 479 run club session meets early in the morning at a coffee shop near a trailhead. The runners send off right as scheduled, and the runs are “out-and-back,” meaning that the runners go as far as they like, then turn on their heels and head back to the starting point. At 479 Run Club, Lee only has one rule: try not to let anyone be on the trail alone. “I encourage people to show up a little bit before to talk with everyone and see how far they’re wanting to run, what their pace looks like, and then pair up with their paces. No one’s ever alone. That’s kind of my big thing, if someone is alone, I’ll always try and pair up with them or find someone to be with them. We’re a very open community,” Lee said. CONTINUED >

After the runners return to the starting point, the runners dive deeper into the social aspect of the club. Many will purchase a coffee and spend the rest of the morning getting to know the other runners. “We’re not like a track team, running drills and doing all of this crazy stuff. Our runs are very chill, and we’re truly just doing this to get together. If anything, we have people who will just show up for the social aspect of it afterwards,” Lee said. While regularly running has its physical benefits, Lee believes that run clubs take a much more holistic approach to bettering one’s health. “There are a lot of people in Northwest Arkansas that are trying to find where they belong or how to meet people, while also trying to stick to a routine of working out and getting healthy, and, through joining a run club, you’re getting the physical aspect of getting healthier in addition to the mental health aspect of being in a great community,” Lee said. Rather if you are a seasoned runner looking to find other runners on your skill level, a novice runner looking for ways to train, or someone who wants to take their dog on a long walk while surrounded by new friends,

Running with them has not only made me stronger physically, but it has also given me friendships and a sense of belonging that I truly love. Michelle, 40: I moved to Arkansas four years ago and was running around the lake solo. I found this club in May 2024 and I’m so glad I showed up, and I haven’t stopped since. I’ve run so many different trails and met so many people - it’s great finding people who enjoy running as much as I do! Jin Saw, 33: I originally joined for the workouts, but I stayed because of the people. Running with 479 has given me a community I didn’t know I needed - friends who encourage me, push me, and make Fayetteville feel incredibly connected. Maddie Shults (22 years): Joining 479 Run Club made a new city feel like home overnight. It’s given me a healthy way to build real connections, stay motivated, and meet new faces. This great community is the highlight of my week!

Your Brain
Dr. Janissa Jackson
Dr. Janissa and Justin Jackson provide brain training programs designed to improve your cognitive thinking

Can you remember what you did last Tuesday? How about what you ate for dinner last night? If you struggle to answer these questions, don’t freak out, you’re not alone. The brain is immensely powerful, but sometimes our expansive list of tasks and priorities can make us struggle to answer even the easiest of questions. Doctors have been studying the brain for centuries, and a passionate group of doctors worked together to launch a nationwide organization dedicated to helping individuals strengthen their brain and memory through a comprehensive training program, and it’s found its way into Arkansas. The brain training facility, called LearningRx, is currently located in Springdale and Fort Smith. The facility works one-on-one with clients of all ages and walks of life who desire to strengthen their cognitive thinking skills, whether it be students wanting to speed up their homework time, having difficulty focusing or comprehending their reading, or enduring the process of overcoming a brain injury. “When you feel that difference in your capacity to learn and manage information, everything changes. It’s not just about a specific outcome measure. Executive function dramatically improves as a result of building cognitive skills, like time management and organization. It completely changes the path that the person is on,” said Dr. Janissa Jackson, owner and center director for LearningRx’s Arkansas locations. Dr. Jackson, a decorated clinical psychologist who has led her own practice since 2005, operates the Arkansas locations alongside her husband, Justin. The Jacksons planted the first LearningRx in Fort Smith, and, in 2024, launched the Springdale location. The Jacksons also have plans to open a location in Rogers or Bentonville in the spring. “I’ve been a clinical psychologist for 20 years now in private practice, and I specialize in formalized diagnostic testing for things like autism, ADHD, dyslexia, etc. For me, I got to a point where I was discouraged with labeling things when we didn’t have solutions. Working with LearningRx has become a beautiful partnership where I can now offer solutions to the patients that I serve,” Janissa said. “I also signed on because the program has 17 peer-reviewed studies, so there’s heavy neuroscience behind it. Otherwise, I was not putting my name on it.” While the brain training sessions are effective in aiding students in their schoolwork, LearningRx is very different from a typical tutoring program, which primarily focuses on reteaching information. The training sessions are designed to help the brain retrieve information effectively and to improve skills such as short-term memory processing speed, attention, focus and auditory processing through online and in-person exercises with a brain trainer. Additionally, LearningRx offers coaching to parents and guardians that helps provide them with the skills to help patients show off their changes in cognitive skills outside of their time at LearningRx. “We have regular reviews and we are consistently challenging parents through weekly letters and reports to raise the bar for their students. Parents provide a ‘wish list’ of the real world areas that they want to see changes in with their child or adults that do it for themselves, and then we push that. If parents don’t raise the bar, then it’s hard to see the changes,” Janissa said.

“When you feel that difference in your capacity to learn and manage information, everything changes.”
When the bar is raised and the patients commit to their time at LearningRx, changes in cognitive skill levels are clear to see. Once a patient completes the program, they are asked to return again one year later for a test to evaluate their cognitive skills levels. Patient retention levels are in the 97th percentile, according to Janissa. These consistently positive results are allowing the brain training facility to grow its presence throughout Northwest Arkansas. Since its establishment in Springdale, LearningRx has connected with several schools in the region and has become a “common referral” for individuals in need of stronger cognitive skills. If you consider yourself to be someone who would benefit from stronger and faster cognitive skills, the brain trainers at LearningRx are excited to work with you, no matter the stage of life you find yourself in. “We have professionals doing our program because they want to enhance their cognitive skills or stay at the top of their game. At the end of the day, it’s just a matter of taking that leap and coming in and meeting me and having a cognitive skills assessment. Students and adults alike get really tired of working around weak cognitive skills. It’s really a lot of fun when they sign on and we get to help them take their brains to a new level.”

The Everyday Wellness Philosophy of Amanda Wilson
It is easy to feel overwhelmed in a culture that offers fifty thousand different wellness methods and promises. The pressure to do everything perfectly often leads to doing nothing at all. When the path feels confusing or impossible, many people freeze in place. Amanda Wilson wants you to know it does not have to be that way. Her message is simple and refreshing: small habits compound into real, sustainable change. As the founder of A. Wilson Wellness, she has become a steady voice of encouragement for anyone seeking a healthier life that still feels like their own. Amanda, a nurse, health coach, and single mom of two, built her platform on the belief that wellness should fit into the rhythm of real life. Nearly a decade ago, she began sharing quick meal ideas and simple movement tips online in the midst of her own busy season. What started as practical encouragement for others evolved into a mission centered around sustainable health coaching advice with access to workout programs, meal libraries, monthly lifestyle focuses and consistent coaching calls. She discovered that caring for yourself is not indulgent, it is essential. When you prioritize your health, it strengthens everything else in your life. Her nursing background gives her a unique lens into what people truly need. She looks at the whole person and considers habits, mindset, capacity, and the season of life they are in. She understands that wellness rarely happens in dramatic leaps. Instead, it grows in the small, steady choices that feel realistic and attainable. Because she knows how the body functions, she can show clients that simple, consistent effort works. Healthy living should feel grounding and joyful, not confusing or intimidating. Balance, for Amanda, is not about equal effort in every area all at once, instead, it is about intention. She juggles motherhood, a business, and a full schedule, yet she stays rooted through non-negotiables that keep her centered. Some seasons require more flexibility and grace, and she embraces that. Her approach is a reminder that balance is something you practice, not something you perfect. The heart of her philosophy lies in small, meaningful shifts. Amanda encourages clients to focus on the one percent improvements that build over time. Adding protein to each meal, stepping outside for morning sunlight, naming gratitudes out loud, carving out a few minutes for movement, journaling, or prayer, and acknowledging one thing you did well before bed can all create a powerful shift. These habits help busy moms and professionals feel strong, energized, and capable of caring for themselves without guilt. Her commitment extends to her children, who see wellness modeled in everyday moments. She teaches them that caring for your body is an act of stewardship. Movement is about feeling strong. Food is both joy and fuel. Self-care is responsibility, not trend. She lets them witness her living out these rhythms so they can build their own healthy foundations. As the new year begins, Amanda’s encouragement is to start small and start intentionally. Choose one or two habits that matter and commit to them. As consistency grows, layer in more practices that support your well-being. She reminds readers to meet their mindset hurdles with compassion and truth. Her advice is clear: do what your body and mind need, even when you do not feel like it... The motivation will follow. Amanda’s approach makes wellness feel accessible and empowering. It invites readers into a lifestyle that supports strength, steadiness, and joy in every season. CONTINUED > JANUARY 2 0 2 6 | C I TYL I FE STYL E . C OM/FAY E T T E V I L L E

“IT’S A FORM OF SELF-CARE. AND IT’S EASY PEASY.” - JAMIE BUCKLE
January arrives with its trademark mix of motivation and overwhelm. Many of us set out to simplify our routines, clear the clutter, and start fresh, yet the everyday tasks that follow us into the new year rarely lighten. At the top of that list is the chore nearly everyone dreads: laundry. It piles up, overtakes the laundry room, and quietly steals hours every single week. That is exactly why A. B. Merritt, who owns Sit & Spin Laundromat and co-owns Clothesline479, partnered with fellow co-owner Jamie Buckle to create a service designed to give families something invaluable back: time, peace of mind, and a calmer home. Clothesline479 is Fayetteville’s full-service pickup and delivery laundry option, created with a simple vision. “I built Sit & Spin as a place where I would actually want to do laundry,” A. B. says. “Clothesline was created with that same mindset. I wanted a service I would use, something that made life easier and more enjoyable.” A. B. and Jamie expanded the brand beyond the physical laundromat to offer a sister service built around convenience, and the belief that self-care can be practical. As Jamie puts it, “It’s a form of self-care. And it’s easy peasy.” CONTINUED >

“I WANTED TO CREATE A SERVICE I WOULD USE, SOMETHING THAT MADE LIFE EASIER AND MORE ENJOYABLE.” - A. B. MERRITT
Full-service laundry, also known as wash, dry, fold, is an affordable luxury, and Clothesline479 has refined the experience into something remarkably simple. Customers in Fayetteville, Farmington, Johnson, Elkins, and Springdale can schedule pickups Monday through Friday through the Clothesline479 app. Laundry is washed, dried, folded, or hung, and returned the next day. Natural soaps, high-efficiency machines, and never mixing orders ensure every load receives personal attention. Clients can send in sheets, towels, blankets, everyday clothing, and more. “Send your laundry in whatever bags are easiest for you,” A. B. says. “We take it from there.” Their tagline, Take Back Your Weekend, captures both the emotional and practical impact. Laundry is not just a time drain; it consumes mental energy. The true benefit goes beyond the hours saved… It’s the relief of knowing the task is simply taken care of. For many families, that sense of ease is transformative. Instead of reorganizing schedules around wash cycles or battling laundry piles that overtake the home, Clothesline479 returns everything neatly folded, instantly reducing clutter

and decision fatigue. It is a small shift that creates a meaningful margin. The service has become essential for busy families, college students, single professionals, and even local businesses, including studios, medical offices, daycares, and fitness centers. It’s also a surprising cost-saver. With no water or electricity used at home and fewer supplies to buy, many customers find it more affordable than expected. As 2026 arrives, A. B. encourages Fayetteville to embrace a simpler rhythm. “Taking away just one chore that eats up five to six hours a week really changes things,” she says. Her team, the “expert folders,” ensures every order returns neatly and beautifully. It all began at Sit & Spin, her 24-hour laundromat and Fayetteville favorite, known for commercial-grade machines, free Wi-Fi, free soap, and whimsically named washers. Whether stopping in after dinner at Leverett Lounge or for a latenight wash, customers feel the personality A. B. pours into everything she creates. As the new year inspires fresh starts, Clothesline479 reminds us that peace at home often begins by removing just one stressor.
