hen you find the right dealer for your automotive needs, it makes sense to just stick with it. That is what Nancy Ploener has done. Recently, she bought her fourth car from Cronic in the past 15 years. One was an Infiniti, but the other three, including her new one, have all been the same – the Nissan Altima. As soon as she drove her 2025 Altima off the lot, she took it on vacation to the North Carolina coast – a 1,500-mile roundtrip – and was even more pleased with the purchase after that trip than when she bought it. “There were no problems, and the gas mileage was great,” said Ploener, who added

Nancy Ploener loves her new Nissan Altima from Cronic Nissan in Griffin. It’s her fourth Cronic Car.

that her Cronic salesman, Jason, called her shortly after the trip to follow up and make sure she was happy with the new car. “It was just as comfortable as my last car.” She wanted to save money on gas and insurance while driving a vehicle that will last a long time. That is what the folks at Cronic put her in, and she trusts them to always do her right. “From a customer perspective, they are very attentive,” she said of the Cronic staff. “They are not pushy. They are friendly, gracious, and they honor each other’s clients. I think there’s camaraderie in there that you don’t always see in the auto industry. And I never felt pressured, never.”

Ploener also appreciates the dealer, Wanda Cronic Howell’s connection to the local community, having interacted with her at various business functions. “They live here and they’re committed to the area to help better it — not just for business purposes,” she said. “I really feel Wanda has a heart for the community. That speaks volumes.” Are you looking for the right vehicle for you? We invite you to test drive an Altima or any of our Nissans at Cronic’s dealership in Griffin. LIFESTYLE LETTER

Stepping Into Style Let’s just get it out there—I love shoes. Always have, always will. Some folks collect stamps. Others collect art. Me? I collect footwear. Heels, flats, boots, slingbacks, and my new obsession, sneakers—if it goes on a foot and makes a statement, I want it. In my book, shoes aren’t just accessories—they’re exclamation points. They do all the talking before you even say a word. Fashion is always shifting—trends come and go, colors change with the season, silhouettes rise and fall. But shoes? Shoes have staying power. The right pair can transform jeans into a whole moment, turn a basic dress into a showstopper, or give you the kind of strut that says, “I am that fabulous.” And, for the record, I do admire Imelda Marcos. Not for her politics, but for her unrelenting, unapologetic devotion to shoes. There’s something wonderfully rebellious about owning your obsessions—even if it’s a little “extra.” I recently wore some knockout booties to a fundraiser (pictured), and let me tell you—I could’ve sold them off my feet. Compliments came in from every direction (including a few astute men). One stylish woman even proclaimed, “Those are Betsey Johnson, aren’t they. I’d know her look anywhere!” This issue is a love letter to style—from the soles of your feet to the roof over your head. Whether you're into sky-high platforms, sleek little mules, or vintage pumps passed down from your fashion-forward aunt, we’re celebrating it all. Inside, we take a closer look at how upcycled fashion is making waves and how sustainability is no longer just a trend—it’s a movement. Our cover story features a woman whose passion for design turned her house into a work of art—complete with heated, scored concrete floors that will knock your socks off (just make sure you’ve got cute shoes to replace them). So here’s to the fashion that changes how you feel—confident, powerful, or perfectly you. This is your official permission slip to embrace your style from head to toe. P.S. I do have a personal rule: never spend more than $100 on a pair of shoes. But if a pair of red-soled beauties pops up on Facebook Marketplace for $150? All bets are off. A tender glimpse into Tana Heaton’s enchanting home; where art, nature, and soul meet to create a sanctuary of warmth, wonder, and intentional living.

Encased in Beauty Traveling down the winding drive at 114 Lees Lake Road in Fayetteville feels like stepping through a wardrobe into real‑life Narnia. Towering trees part to reveal an estate perched on eight acres of verdant land. A grand copper roof catches the sunlight, while matching fascia and gutters gleam like burnished jewels. Even before you arrive at the front door, you sense this is no ordinary home. It’s a sanctuary of bespoke design and enduring craftsmanship, conceived by a woman whose spirit refuses to age.

throughout the house, while a soaring entryway hints at the elegance waiting beyond. The gourmet kitchen embodies both luxury and practicality. A Wolf range set against a backdrop of stone and brick is paired with a copper backsplash that nickels and tarnishes over time in the most graceful of ways. Twin Sub‑Zero units - one fridge, one freezer ensure ample storage for both weeknight meals and lavish dinner parties. Outside, a private courtyard commands attention. Its 35‑foot reflecting pond mirrors the sky, while surrounding loggias offer shade on sultry afternoons. “The courtyard is my favorite place. It’s the most relaxing, wonderful place.” Tana confides, “I love it so much.” CONTINUED >

Tana Heaton and I sat in two tapestry‑upholstered chairs, their ottomans perfectly mirroring the curves of our seats. The faint peal of grandfather‑clock chimes punctuated our conversation, and a vase of freshly cut roses scented the air. At seventy‑five years young, Tana’s eyes glowed with what I imagine to be the same fierce energy she carried when she arrived in Atlanta back in 1973. Tana and her late husband, Jacob, agreed to begin clearing the land for their home in early 2001. Tana worked alongside architect Eddie Moultrie and project manager Tommy Hatcher to translate Tana’s vivid ideas onto paper and into reality. “I could not have built this house without them,” she insists, recalling the complex drawings Eddie sketched on a snowy day. By 2003, the couple had moved into a home that would become Tana’s masterpiece. Inside, nearly 7,000 square feet unfold across four huge bedrooms, four full baths, and two half baths. Every detail was meticulously planned: hand‑cut oak trim, solid oak doors, and heated, hand‑scored concrete floors. Stained‑glass windows filter sunlight into custom display cabinets

“I’M A COLLECTOR,” TANA ADMITS. “MY SURROUNDINGS ARE SUPER IMPORTANT TO ME. IT’S WHAT MAKES ME FEEL ALIVE. WHEN I’M SURROUNDED BY THE THINGS I LOVE AND THE BEAUTY THAT I LOVE, IT MAKES ME FEEL GOOD.”

The master suite is a creation in thoughtful extravagance. Separate bathrooms - one featuring a steam shower - cater to “his and hers”. A two‑story walk‑in closet includes a rolling library ladder, a necessary convenience to reach clothing and other items stored in spaces two stories high. An elevator grants access to every level, including a soundproof apartment with its own kitchen and private entrance. Throughout the house, copper reigns supreme: window soffits, door surrounds, even internal plumbing pipes gleam with a rosy patina. “I love copper.” Tana says, “It goes through many phases. I love its permanency.” Though the exterior demands little attention, Tana’s horticultural background ensured the grounds would thrive. She once tended nearly 400 rose bushes across 15 acres of gardens, but this second residence called for low maintenance. Strategic landscaping shields the home from winter’s bite, while specimen trees and manicured beds create beauty that changes with the seasons. Art and antiques whisper stories of Tana’s past. Her grandmother, a china painter, left behind delicate porcelain pieces now displayed in glass cabinets. Heirlooms from her mother’s collection are displayed as well. Collections of all kinds, including Native American artifacts and vintage alligator purses, are on display. I have to mention the shoe collection that would make Imelda Marcos gasp. “I’m a collector,” Tana admits. “My surroundings are super important to me. It’s what makes me feel alive. When I’m surrounded by the things I love and the beauty that I love, it makes me feel good.” Now, after 22 years, Tana is ready to travel more and spend more time with her grandchildren. With a mixture of nostalgia and hope, she has placed this extraordinary home on the market. “I had such fun

building this house,” Tana reflects, “and I tried very hard to use local artisans and talents who could bring my vision to life.” Her parting wish is simple: that another family will cherish this place, creating laughter and legacy within its walls. As I rose from my chair, the roses on the small table caught my eye one last time. Their petals, like everything Tana created here, spoke of meticulous care and timeless beauty. It’s clear to me that 114 Lees Lake Road is more than a property; it’s a testament to a woman who remains forever young at heart, forever in pursuit of beauty, and forever devoted to the art of making memories. If you are in the market for a ‘forever home’, perhaps 114 Lees Lake Road is exactly what you’ve been waiting for - where comfort, character, and timeless charm meet on a beautiful piece of Georgia land. just really want to focus on keeping everything that’s already been made and cycling through it - whether you buy from a thrift store or get a hand-me-down, and either wear it as-is or make it your own.” While her personal style leans toward a fusion of edgy rock ‘n’ roll and free-spirited ’70s hippie, Jana confesses the excitement she feels when pairing pieces often considered contradictions: a preppy button-up with leather pants, or something floral layered with fishnets. For her, fashion is about creativity and rediscovery by transforming individual items she might not love on their own into bold, cohesive ensembles. To explore her inventive collections firsthand, Rock Revive Repeat, alongside Red Letter Merchant, will be featured in monthly markets at various Line Creek Brewery locations. The first event will take place on September 21, 2025, at the Newnan location from 2–7 PM. For a look at upcoming designs and market dates, follow Jana Calhoun on Instagram at @ rock.revive.repeat.

In a world dominated by fast fashion and throwaway culture, Jana Calhoun is charting a different course, one that embraces individuality, sustainability, and creative reuse. As the founder of Rock Revive Repeat, Calhoun refers to herself as a “reseller of previously rocked frocks.” Jana’s love of thrifting began in high school, where the thrill of the hunt and the joy of transformation first captured her imagination. “I’ve always been big on finding the funky stuff wherever I go,” she said. As she has aged, her extensive background in retail has sharpened her eye and deepened her commitment to conscious fashion. “They don’t make clothes like they used to anymore,” Calhoun reflects. “The older I get, the more conscious I become of the environmental situation. So that’s been a big focus—just sustainability, honestly.” Using techniques like bleaching, tiedye, deconstructing, and sewing, she began putting her own spin on vintage clothing and turning overlooked items into statement pieces with personality. “I

SOMETHING OLD MADE NEW ARTICLE BY PAULI REEP PHOTOGRAPHY BY JACQUIE RIVES

CREATE MEANINGFUL DIY BRIDAL BOUQUET USING HEIRLOOM, THRIFTED, AND PURCHASED BROOCHES. When I made my daughter’s bridal brooch bouquet, I wanted it to be more than just pretty—I wanted it to tell a story. I used sentimental brooches gifted by family and friends, mixed in with some fun thrifted finds, and added a few I purchased just because they felt right. It ended up being a colorful, sparkly mix of memories and love that she’ll treasure forever. If you’re thinking of making one too, don’t stress—it’s easier than it looks, and I’ll explain how to create a bouquet that’s as unique and special as the bride herself.

28

H OW TO | STYL E + BEAUT Y

01

STEP 1: GATHER YOUR MATERIALS Start by collecting a mix of brooches, earrings, pendants, and other sparkly pieces in a cohesive color palette—pearls, gold, and silver work beautifully. You’ll also need 18-gauge floral wire, floral tape, several silk hydrangea flowers, ribbon, wire cutters, and a hot glue gun with glue sticks.

02

STEP 2: PREP AND WIRE THE BROOCHES Cut a length of floral wire (about 10 - 12 inches), and thread it through a sturdy part of each brooch, twisting the ends together tightly to make a stem. For pieces that don’t have holes, use hot glue to attach them to the wire. Wrap the wire stems in floral tape to create a finished look and make the bouquet easier to handle.

03

STEP 3: ASSEMBLE THE BOUQUET BASE Use the silk hydrangea flowers to form a bouquet to the desired size. Start inserting your wired brooches evenly around the flowers, working in a circular pattern from the top center outward. Alternate textures and sizes for balance. Heavier brooches may need extra securing with hot glue. Fill gaps with smaller pins or small pearls to maintain a cohesive look.

STEP 4: FINISH AND PERSONALIZE Once your brooches are arranged to your liking, wrap the handle in satin or lace ribbon, securing it with pins or glue. You can embellish the handle with a charm, monogram, or lace from a family heirloom. Give everything a final check to ensure brooches are secure. THROUGHOUT TIME, WATCHES ARE MORE THAN JUST TIMEKEEPERS FOR MEN.

For many men, a watch is more than a device to tell time. It’s a statement, a symbol of personal style, success, and even identity. Much like how handbags are to women, watches for men serve both a practical and deeply expressive purpose. Watches are functional, yes, but also emotionally resonant, quietly telling the world who you are without saying a word. A man’s choice in a watch often reflects his personality or aspirations. The minimalist may opt for a clean, understated timepiece. The adventurer gravitates toward a rugged chronograph. The corporate executive? Perhaps a sleek luxury watch peeking out from under a tailored cuff. It’s an accessory that speaks volumes without needing a matching pair of shoes. Watches mark transitions as well: the first “real” watch given on graduation day, the heirloom passed from father to son, or the splurge after a career milestone. In each case, the watch is tied to a memory, making CONTINUED > S EP TEMB ER 2 0 2 5 | C I TYL I FE STYL E . C OM/FAYET T E C O UN T Y

it more than metal and mechanics. It becomes a piece of legacy. My husband, Craig, and I exchanged ‘his and hers’ Tag Heuer Carrera watches during our wedding vow renewal. The global watch market reflects this strong connection men have with timepieces. According to industry analysts, the global wristwatch market has a projected value of over $78 billion by 2026, with men’s watches consistently accounting for the majority of luxury watch sales. Despite the growing popularity of smartwatches – expected to reach over $62 billion by 2028 – traditional analog timepieces remain a stronghold in the luxury segment. Psychology also plays a part in this continued appeal. A study published in PeerJ found that men who regularly wear wristwatches tend to score higher in conscientiousness - a personality trait associated with punctuality, organization, and reliability. This perception has made watches a subtle but powerful social signal in both personal and professional settings. Whether it’s a boardroom meeting or a first date, the right watch can convey confidence, discipline, and attention to detail. Of course, not all watches are created equal. Some cross into the realm of the extraordinary. As of now, the most expensive watch ever sold is the Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime Ref. 6300A-010, which fetched a staggering $31 million at a charity auction in 2019. Boasting 20 complications and a reversible case, it’s less of a wristwatch and more of a horological masterpiece. Like watch winders that keep automatic watches running smoothly by mimicking the natural motion of the wrist, both a luxury showpiece and a daily essential timepiece serve a purpose to keep the wearer grounded, prepared, and timely.

Hollywood has long amplified the allure of men's watches. Take Steve McQueen, the "King of Cool," who wore the Tag Heuer Monaco 1133B in the 1971 film Le Mans. With its square case and blue dial, it broke design conventions and became an icon in the racing and watch worlds alike. Then there's the Omega Seamaster, catapulted into modern fame by GoldenEye (1995), where Pierce Brosnan sported it in his debut as James Bond. The Omega Seamaster Professional 300M Quartz wasn't just stylish, it had Bondworthy features like a built-in laser and detonator. Since then, Omega and 007 have been nearly inseparable. Craig proudly owns both the TAG Heuer Monaco and Omega Seamaster, enthusiastically sharing trivia with anyone who admires them.
