A Stylish Sendoff to Summer As we soak up the final golden days of summer, we’re excited to bring you our annual Style Edition—a celebration of beauty, expression, and the many forms “style” can take. Of course, fashion takes center stage. In this issue, we highlight the art of designer consignment with Renaissance, a local boutique where every piece tells a story. That’s why we’re also taking you to France this month. On the heels of an unforgettable trip, we’re sharing highlights from two of the country’s most contrasting (yet equally captivating) cities: Paris and Nice. Plus, we’ve included recipes for two delicious cocktails we discovered abroad to help bring a little joie de vivre to your next happy hour. Villefranche-sur-Mer
France is a country of contrasts, and nowhere is that more beautifully experienced than in the cities of Paris and Nice. Visiting both offers a glimpse into two very different sides of French culture—each equally captivating. Paris, the City of Light, dazzles with timeless style and sophistication. From the iconic Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe to the art-filled corridors of renowned museums like the Louvre and Musée d’Orsay, the city breathes history and elegance. Strolling through neighborhoods like Le Marais or Saint-Germain-desPrés, visitors encounter chic boutiques and charming cafés. A walk along the Seine River offers a scenic path through the heart of the city, with picturesque bridges and views. Perched on a hill north of Paris, Montmartre is one of the city’s most enchanting neighborhoods, known for its bohemian spirit. Once home to legends like Picasso and Monet, its winding cobblestone streets are filled with street artists capturing the magic of daily life. At its crown sits the stunning Sacré-Cœur Basilica, known for its beautiful architecture, intricate mosaics, and panoramic views of the city—making the short hike up well worth it.
For luxury shoppers, Galeries Lafayette Haussmann is home to top French and international luxury brands such as Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Saint Laurent, and Gucci. Set beneath an amazing Art Nouveau glass dome and spanning several floors, it also features a rooftop terrace offering one of the best free scenic views of Paris. Less than a 6-hour train ride away from Paris to France’s southern coast is Nice, the sun-soaked jewel of the French Riviera. With its extraordinary turquoise waters, pastel buildings, and relaxed Mediterranean vibe, Nice feels like a vacation within a vacation. The famed Promenade des Anglais stretches along the coast, perfect for morning strolls or sunset views. The Old Town (Vieux Nice) is a maze of vibrant markets selling local goods, Baroque architecture, and cozy cafés. Foodies will enjoy the plethora of fresh seafood and paella dishes. If you're an art lover, visit the Matisse and Chagall museums in the tranquil Cimiez district, both inspired by the light and landscape of this southern haven. Take a quick hike up Castle Hill (Colline du Château) for sweeping views over the Baie des Anges, or hop a short train or car ride

to nearby coastal villages such as the postcard-perfect seaside town of Villefranche-sur-Mer or the enchanting medieval village of Èze. With its blend of natural beauty, Italian-influenced charm, and a laid-back lifestyle, Nice invites visitors to slow down and savor la belle vie, “the good life.” Visiting both cities in one trip offers a wonderful balance—Paris feeds the mind and soul, while Nice soothes the spirit. Whether it’s a morning croissant in Paris or a sunset apéritif in Nice, the journey between these two cities is a beautiful reminder of France’s diversity, charm and style.
You can travel from Paris Gare de Lyon to Nice Ville aboard a high-speed TGV inOui train, arriving just a short stroll from the Promenade des Anglais. The relaxing journey takes about 5 hours and 35 minutes, offering scenic views of the French countryside and glimpses of seaside cities including Marseille and Monte Carlo along the way!

Refreshing cocktail recipes using Aperol Aperitivo Liqueur

C ULIN A RY C R E AT ION S | F OOD + BE VE RAGE
Aperol Aperitivo Liqueur may be Italian by origin, but in France, it’s practically a national obsession. With its eye-catching orange hue and bittersweet blend of citrus, herbs, and spice, Aperol has become a staple in French cafés and bars. The iconic Aperol Spritz is a fixture of apéro culture sipped leisurely before dinner across Paris and the Riviera and has become my new go-to cocktail. Light, refreshing, and effortlessly chic, it captures the laid-back elegance the French do so well. Bartenders in France are also using Aperol in inventive ways, even serving it in modern American cocktail recipes like the Paper Plane, created by renowned New York bartender Sam Ross. Aperol brings a splash of sunshine and joie de vivre to your glass!
INGREDIENTS: • 3 oz Prosecco • 2 oz Aperol • 1 oz soda water (or to taste) • Orange slice, for garnish • Ice
APEROL SPRITZ: DIRECTIONS: 1. Fill a large wine glass with ice. 2. Pour in the Prosecco, then Aperol. 3. Top with a splash of soda water. 4. Gently stir to combine. 5. Garnish with an orange slice. Tip: The order matters! Pouring Prosecco first helps preserve its bubbles. Ratio trick: 3 parts Prosecco, 2 parts Aperol, 1 part soda—easy to remember, hard to forget. Santé! CONTINUED >

DIRECTIONS: 1. Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice. 2. Shake well until chilled (about 10–15 seconds). 3. Strain into a chilled coupe glass. 4. Garnish with a lemon twist or leave it clean and simple. Tip: Don’t overshake the drink: You want it cold, but not watery.

In Town Center West, Marshall has opened its new 25,000-square-foot medical facility aimed at getting EDH residents back on their feet as soon as possible. We caught up with Marshall president and CEO Siri Nelson to learn more about the new space and all it means for the community. “We’re here to help everyone write their comeback story!” she says. TELL US ABOUT THE NEW BUILDING. Specifically designed to support this community’s active lifestyle, Marshall El Dorado Hills is a state-of-the-art medical facility with 29 examination rooms, three procedure rooms, diagnostic imaging and lab, as well as an expansive physical therapy and rehabilitation space. Making key services available in one convenient location means residents won’t need to travel to receive the care they need to get back to living life to its fullest. WHY EL DORADO HILLS? El Dorado Hills and its surrounding areas are growing rapidly. Residents are drawn to the natural environment so whether a student athlete, runner, hiker, walker, swimmer, or pickleball player, everyone’s body is subject to wear and tear. Marshall wants to make sure our patients are able to manage, treat, and overcome any obstacles they encounter. For active individuals, those obstacles often include musculoskeletal and heart-related issues. CONTINUED >

WHAT SPECIFIC SERVICES ARE OFFERED AT THE NEW FACILITY, AND HOW DO THEY MEET THE NEEDS OF OUR COMMUNITY? Marshall El Dorado Hills features orthopedics and sports medicine (with El Dorado County’s only walk-in services for immediate care), family medicine (with same-day appointments available), physical therapy, cardiology, podiatry, and on-site diagnostic imaging and lab draw capabilities. These services were determined in consultation with our EDH Advisory Committee, a group of area residents and leaders who provided input on the specific needs of this community. Walk-in and same-day services typically result in lower costs to patients rather than traveling to an emergency room. As a benefit to the larger community, it will also help reduce wait times in the emergency room by having these patients seen elsewhere when appropriate. WHAT MAKES THIS FACILITY STATE OF THE ART? The new facility was completely redesigned and reimagined, placing the patient experience first. Clinic spaces “flex,” meaning that if on any given day orthopedic visits are higher, while cardiology appointments are fewer, providers can seamlessly adjust, expanding or reducing their clinic space as needed. On-site diagnostic imaging features GE’s Definium™ XR/f, allowing for a variety of head-to-toe, dose-efficient exams on

patients of all sizes, ages, and degrees of mobility. Also, the Marshall Foundation for Community Health has raised funds to equip our physical therapy area with the only specialized 3D ZeroG system west of Salt Lake City. 3D ZeroG is an advanced robotic body-weight support system that safely allows walking, movement, balance, and fall prevention training in a reduced-gravity environment. This effort has been made possible by the generosity of Robert and Star Pepper. WILL THIS FACILITY INCLUDE URGENT CARE OR EXTENDED HOURS? Walk-in and same-day care will be open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m. Lab draw services will open at 6 a.m. to allow patients to complete their labs and get on with their day. HOW WILL MARSHALL ENGAGE WITH THE COMMUNITY? We sponsor and participate in more than 150 community-based events each year. At last year’s Gold Country Run in Town Center, for example, members of Marshall’s cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, physical therapy, orthopedics and sports medicine, podiatry, diabetes and nutrition education, and population health programs were on hand to present a community health fair. Plans are already underway for this year’s event, as well as October’s Folsom Family Expo. Marshall is a sponsor of the local farmer’s market, Thursday Live on the Boulevard concerts, the Fireworks and Freedom event, and others. Frequently members of our clinical teams are present to educate the community on their health and our services. We proudly sponsor and support local youth sports teams to help foster the health and well-being of our region’s young athletes. ANYTHING ELSE OUR READERS SHOULD KNOW? Marshall’s independence enables us to quickly and effectively assess and respond to the needs of our community in a way that simply isn’t possible elsewhere. We identified a need within El Dorado Hills’ growing community to fully support its active lifestyle and were able to nimbly address it with this new facility and the programs housed here. That’s our difference—and our strength!

OLD WALL, NEW TRICKS ARTICLE BY PAM REID
HANG UP THE OLD WAY AND TRY A GALLERY WALL HANGING SYSTEM IN YOUR HOME.
One of my happy places is sitting in front of a museum wall gallery. I can admire art for hours, and if I’m with a friend, there’s no telling how long we’ll sit, reflect, and share our individual perspectives. If you’ve admired gallery wall displays in magazines, catalogs, or on social media and would like to create one in your home, it’s much easier than you might think.
MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED:
DESIGNING YOUR GALLERY WALL
CREATIVE ARRANGEMENTS
The first step in creating a gallery wall is planning. Start by selecting a theme or color scheme that complements your space. Themes can be as varied as black-and-white photographs, abstract paintings, or a mix of personal and artistic prints.
• The arrangement of your gallery wall can follow several patterns, depending on your taste: • Linear: Artworks are hung in a straight line at eye level, creating a clean and orderly appearance. • Grid: Perfect for a collection of similarly sized frames, this layout emphasizes structure and uniformity. • Salon Style: This more traditional arrangement involves layering pieces closely together, often extending across the wall. It’s ideal for creating a rich, filled look.
• A gallery wall hanging system, which typically includes mounting rails, cables or rods, and hooks. You can find them pretty much anywhere, online or at your local home improvement store. • A collection of frames and artwork. • A level, measuring tape, and perhaps a laser pointer for precision.
INSTALL ATION TIPS: 01 MEASURE YOUR SPACE: Carefully measure the wall space where you want to install the gallery. Consider the height and width available, keeping in mind furniture and other room features.
02 LAY IT OUT: Arrange your artwork on the floor to finalize your layout. This “dry run” is crucial to get a feel for how the pieces will interact with one another. I like to use painter’s tape to create a visual of what my display will look like on the walls.
03 INSTALL THE RAILS AND HANG YOUR ART: Following the manufacturer’s instructions, mount the rails at the top of your wall. Ensure they are level and securely attached. Attach cables or rods to the rails, then use hooks to hang your frames. The beauty of the system is that you can adjust the height and position easily.
04 BALANCE AND SYMMETRY: Step back to view your layout from different angles. Adjust the spacing and alignment as needed to achieve visual balance.
