Sis! Boom! Bah! HELLO EDEN PRAIRIE LIFESTYLE READERS,

David Scheller | david.scheller@lifestylepubs.com AD DESIGNER

Whitney Lockhart L AYO UT DESIGNER

Dani Moore

I want to start off by telling you how thrilled I am to finally get to feature the Eden Prairie 4th of July Hometown Celebration in Eden Prairie Lifestyle. We committed to covering the great hootenanny last year – before we discovered that it had been canceled. My writer did the best he could covering an event that would not take place, but this year’s feature is a lot more … relevant, let’s call it! We have three great local businesses to cover in our July issue as well. First is SCHEELS, whose Helping Hands program has their associates volunteering for the patients of M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. Their heroism pales in comparison to that of the kids, their parents and their healthcare professionals, but anyone who is willing to dress up as Spider-Man for a good cause gets big points in my book. Our remaining two features are all about self-improvement. Erik Therwanger of Think GREAT wants to help you become an exceptional leader. The writer and public speaker takes what he learned as a Marine, an industry leader and his own wife’s caregiver and blends it into an extremely effective approach to running a business.

People you can count on. There is a lot to consider when choosing a financial institution - such as convenience, technology and products. Perhaps you want a bank that gives back to the community it serves. More than anything, your bank should have familiar, friendly people you know you can count on any time of the day. At First Western Bank & Trust we are all these things and more.

GIVING BACK (CONTINUED) “Our director of marketing always tells us to ‘be different,’” said Michael Larson, social media leader for SCHEELS and invincible bearded Kryptonian. “I believe we live up to those words by getting out there into the world, creating real, lasting relationships with people, and doing much more good for the community than we could at our regular jobs.” “Many of our patients had already been confined to their rooms before COVID hit,” said Nick Engbloom, director of development and community partnerships for the University of Minnesota Foundation. “Once the pandemic started, they could only see one caregiver at a time. You have to imagine one of these kids getting a knock on their door one day and expecting to see another nurse or doctor coming to talk to them about their condition – but instead, it’s someone bringing them a cookie decorating kit from Wonder Woman. That’s one hour of their day that they don’t have to worry about their diagnosis, and that is a game changer.” Please visit scheels.com/community-involvement to learn more about SCHEELS’ singular support for the communities they are so proud to be part of.

This south facing 5-bedroom, 6-bath premium quality home sits on the east-side shoreline of Bryant Lake, the most convenient fully recreational lake in the Metro area. Grandeur reigns throughout, including a gourmet kitchen that matches jaw-dropping views. The home’s quality and design are paramount, starting with a Fond du Lac stone exterior almost fully wrapping the house ----and continues at the first step inside with soaring spaces and dramatic windows framing the lake. And there’s no let-up from there. Architectural design meets engineering; every space, more than a pretty face where functionality was never overlooked in all 6000 plus sq ft of living area.

Dramatic and exciting, this soft-contemporary home sits on arguably the best lot on a ‘Street of Dreams’ that serves as a backbone to Olympic Hills Golf Club---one of the Twin Cities premier golf courses. The home’s interior design is captivating; the elevated, long views rearward are spectacular. Not merely a golfer’s haven, the mix of woods, water, marsh, and wildlife---along with the verdant parts of five different golf holes---fight for attention from most every room. Yet, the home’s layout and livability are not compromised; nature’s allure outside is enhanced inside by 3 beds/ 3 baths, a substantial, updated kitchen with adjoining casual spaces including informal dining and a sunroom. The lower level features 2 bedrooms, an office along with an entertainment bar and large great room PLUS 4 new decks at every level. Vacation getaways rarely are better; this one can be reserved year-round.

Former builder’s home, well built. This WO rambler is on a spectacular 10 acre setting. Light, open floor plan w/beautiful, wide-plank wood floors & gourmet kitchen. Soaring vaulted main floor w/amazing views as you step into the home. Huge owner’s retreat - jetted tub, separate shower w/5 water points, Lake Mtka views from owner’s private deck. Porch has custom plex panels to extend the season & keep winter snow out. LL has full en-suite BR, media room, wet bar, game & billiards area & in-floor heating throughout. A COMMUNITY TO HELP YOU REACH YOUR FITNESS GOALS

“I WAS 44 YEARS OLD WHEN I FIRST DISCOVERED BURN BOOT CAMP,” SAID SONYA PENNEL, WHO NOW OWNS FRANCHISES IN SIX CITIES THROUGHOUT WISCONSIN AND MINNESOTA INCLUDING EDEN PRAIRIE. “Back then, I was in an unhealthy place. I wanted to exercise and eat better, but didn’t know where to turn to. I had tried so many workout regimens and fad diets already. I thought I was just doomed to yo-yo back and forth for the rest of my life. “I was visiting my daughter in Charlotte, North Carolina when she said ‘Mom, you have to come check out Burn Boot Camp with me!’ I was a little apprehensive about trying a new group exercise class. I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the rest of the group, and that the other members there would judge me. But what I found at Burn Boot Camp was just the opposite.

HEALTHY LIFESTYLE (CONTINUED)

“From the moment I walked through the door, I felt loved and supported. For the first time in my life I had discovered a real community dedicated to helping their members achieve a healthier lifestyle – one which geared their workouts to best suit each of their members’ abilities, and where everyone accepts you for who you are. “I was amazed by the staff’s passion. Every instructor at Burn Boot Camp is a certified personal trainer. They quickly helped me make any personalized adjustments I needed to keep up with the rest of the class. They also really fostered a spirit of focusing on doing the best you can do. I no longer felt intimidated by the women who could do full push-ups. If I noticed them at all during the workout, I could sense they were only cheering me on. “Burn Boot Camp workouts are fastpaced! At 45 minutes long you don’t have to plan your whole day around going to the gym, and in that short amount of time you get a great balance of strength and cardio training. Such a fast and varied workout doesn’t just burn about 400 to 500 calories – it is also over before you know it! “One more thing I loved about Burn Boot Camp workouts is their structure. Every week is laid out in advance online, so you can pick which classes you’d like to attend. Should you go Monday through Saturday, then you’ll appreciate how the protocol is designed to target different muscle groups on nonconsecutive days. That ensures you’ll get a healthy mix of training for your entire body, as well as minimize your risk of injury. “Finally, I was relieved that I didn’t have to think about anything from the moment
