Expect Exceptional. IS THERE REALLY A SHIFT IN THE MARKET WHERE YOU LIVE? IT MAY NOT BE WHAT YOU HEAR IN THE MEDIA! If you are considering making a move this year—an agent with proven market experience is an absolute must. While the spring housing market is expected to bring more inventory, the competition with other buyers and sellers is still strong. A seasoned agent can (1) help prepare and negotiate a seller’s home to rise above the competition and (2) assist buyers in crafting an offer that will stand out and win. Buying or selling—contact me to discuss the latest trends in your area and what to expect in the coming months.

LIFESTYLE LETTER

Hello Exploration Often we find ourselves living in an efficiency and productivity-obsessed culture. And I admit, I fall into the trap sometimes, too, of believing the only things worth doing are those I can make an exact calculation about time, effort and investment. But the truth is — I'm not sure if this is the most fulfilling way to go about life. It's important to leave room for exploring, trying new places and things, and even for getting lost in the moment. It is the times that are unstructured and open-ended where the space exists for connections to be made, friendships to be fostered and trust to be built. Our team loves reading about where people choose to travel and the adventures they share with those they love. What a gift we can give ourselves and others by exploring more. The "adventures" and “exploration” don't always need to be big and bold - although we do love taking those trips! A new adventure, a new experience, can be playing games in a calming outdoor living space or walking an unchartered trailer testing a new recipe we share on the page. Our hope is this issue encourages you to make room for exploration. To prioritize time away from the regular schedule of life. Book that boat getaway with family or friends that can take you to unknown chartered waters like Alan Lescelles, has done so many times as revealed on page 26. We are humbled to create a growing resource that is valued in our community and strive every month to deliver the value you expect. Thanks for letting us be a part of your home. Let's all consider planning that trip we've been thinking of. We hope you just might gain a few ideas by flipping through the pages and reading about different places. Let's make time for the things that matter most, but often last on the calendar. If April showers bring May flowers, make time to play in the rain! Here’s your reminder to — and I say this with warmth in my heart — get lost! We hope you will continue to support our partners in and around our community and beyond. We are blessed to have the very best businesses all around us! Happy April! L I S A T H I B A U LT , P U B L I S H E R @EASTCOBBCIT YLIFEST YLE

Your real estate transaction matters. “After having been on the market with many showings and no offers, we reached out to Amy for help. She graciously met with us and was able to immediately identify why our home was not selling. Her professional insight was spot on. We followed her recommendations and eventually re-listed our home with her. She was able to sell our home quickly and negotiate a deal that was fair to both us and the buyer of our home. I can’t say enough good things about Amy. She is knowledgeable, a straight shooter (not just saying what we wanted to hear, but what we needed to hear in order to sell our home), professional, responsive and an excellent negotiator. I would use Amy again in a heartbeat and highly recommend her on both the selling and the buying side.” –Angela List with a local expert invested in your real estate journey today.

A Heart for the Hills LAURA ELLEBY SHARES HER PASSION FOR BLUE RIDGE, GEORGIA

ARTICLE BY DENISE K. JAMES PHOTOGRAPHY BY MORELAND PHOTOGRAPHY

Laura Elleby is humbled to have found her callings in both location and profession. Born and raised in Texas, Elleby spent time in Atlanta with her husband, both “working their tails off in the medical sales field” – but knowing, deep down, she wanted a more personable career. It was Elleby’s husband who encouraged her to take real estate courses, and, within weeks, she’d found her new vocational path. “Before becoming a Realtor, I envied people who enjoyed their job so much, it didn’t feel like work. But, now I am thrilled to say I am one of those people!” she beams.

In July 2012, the couple went on a mountain trip in Blue Ridge, Georgia and fell completely in love — thus finding another true calling. “We spent our first weekend in Blue Ridge, and our hearts, minds and souls were captivated. We decided together that one day, we would live there,” she shares. “As years passed, we continued to visit and invest in the area and community. In 2018, with my soulmate and two little ones in tow, we uprooted and moved to Blue Ridge.” Elleby is one of the founders and principal agents of E+E Compass, a real estate firm that has recently found an ideal space tucked into their mountain town. Previously a Presbyterian church and a family-owned Jiffy Lube, this “nostalgic” space, in Elleby’s words, “is filled with generational community memories.”

“The rebuilding process did not come without challenges,” she notes. “But with a beautiful work partner by my side and staying positive, together, we were able to create a space far more perfect than our dreams imagined.” In addition to working in her thriving business and dedicating herself to being a wife and mother, Elleby is a yoga instructor. She teaches a class called Yoga Over Blue Ridge on Monday mornings, which she says sets the tone for the week. Intentional self care is a must, she insists — plus family and spirituality, if a person wants to truly thrive. [My husband and I] make each other a priority,” she notes. “We carve out time for just the two of us to take short trips that we call our ‘rebooting time.’ At home, we wake up an hour and a half before the kids to do a sauna, cold plunge and bible study. We love the quiet mornings together to CONTINUED >

begin in a healthy headspace before the chaos comes down the stairs! Then, we like to regroup as a family in the evenings, visiting our farm together and spending time with the animals. Family dinner is a priority as well, to sit together and enjoy one another.” Ellebe not only loves the town of Blue Ridge, she would heartily recommend it to anyone who wants a second home in the hills and is more than happy to lend her real estate knowledge and expertise.

“Blue Ridge has attracted a dynamic crowd of both full-time and part-time residents and visitors,” she says. “Located just 90 miles north of Atlanta, it is situated near the state lines of Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina, making it the quintessential mountain town. People from all over the United States have discovered Blue Ridge and fallen in love with its charm.” To learn more, visit lauraelleby.com.

The Best of Both Worlds TONY AND DENISE BROWN LOVE THE CITY AND THE SEASIDE

ARTICLE BY DENISE K. JAMES | PHOTOGRAPHY BY ROBERT YOUNG Tony and Denise Brown both grew up in Georgia's smaller towns, but they always fostered big dreams. As natives of Marietta and Sylvester, respectively, the couple now splits time between two iconic spots in the Southeast — Atlanta and Florida’s Emerald Coast — while they run a thriving home renovation business. Kitchens Design Group focuses on upscale kitchens, bathrooms and floors and has locations in Marietta, Santa Rosa Beach, Nashville and Augusta. One day, as luck would have it, a particular home project led the couple to meet Realtor Rachel Hutchings.

22

LOCA LS ON LY | TR AVEL

“When Rachel was building her own home several years ago, we handled the cabinets and countertops,” Tony notes. “That was before we opened our showroom location here.” Once the project was completed, Tony, Denise and Rachel continued to cross paths in various settings, and before long, a friendship among them had readily formed. Because the Browns are aficionados of taking properties in need of TLC and turning them into marketable and beautiful homes, they always have several real estate projects going at once. It would not take long after meeting Rachel for the couple to put one of these upgraded homes on the market – and call their new friend to take the first look. Since that day, the Browns have had Rachel list homes over and over again. “We’ve sold a bunch of houses in the last year, and she’s the best agent we have worked with,” Denise emphasizes. “Rachel will list the next five homes we do. She has a genuine marketing plan. She’s organized. She calls you back.” Tony agrees heartily with his wife’s assessment. “A lot of agents would not even be able to be agents if they didn’t live [in this area and know people], but Rachel reminds me of our Atlanta agents — she’s a hustler,” he remarks, grinning. Rachel – who has roots in interior design and is a native of New Albany, Mississippi — has worked in high intensity markets, lived in Atlanta for 11 years and ended up loving the pace of the Emerald Coast. Her entire business, she says, was built the way it was built with the Browns — organically, starting from the ground up. She credits her success not only to her inclination to take care of others (a trait she gets honestly from growing up in a family of faith) but also to Compass. “My goal has always been to be a relational — rather than transactional — focused business, seeking to become my clients' 'forever agent,’” Rachel notes. “I have sought to empower my clients with the facts they need to make confident investment decisions for buyers and provide a superior level of proven, curated service for my sellers. My partnership with Compass’s office at the beaches of 30A has elevated what I can achieve for clients on many fronts — helping them accomplish their 'win' in one of the most beautiful and unique coastal markets in the world.” This “beautiful and unique coastal market,” by the way, is a dream come true to Rachel, the Browns and scores of others. The laid-back nature of the Florida panhandle is indisputable, and, while all three business owners are consistently finding success, they CONTINUED >

relish being able to pause, take in the scenery and be grateful for its beauty. “We’re on island time down here,” Tony jokes. “It’s still work; you’re still doing the same job as you are in Atlanta or Augusta – but with God’s backdrop behind you, it doesn’t feel like you need to be in such a hurry.” Tony and Denise are keen to point out Atlanta’s good points, as well – and share with the rest of their Atlanta community of friends, family and associates just how great it is to have the benefit of both lifestyles. Naturally, for those in Atlanta looking to invest in the Florida gulf, the Browns recommend their friend Rachel as a savvy and trustworthy real estate partner. Rachel, meanwhile, shares how many of her own clients treasure the area as an investment and great vacation spot. “I love Florida, but there’s something to be said for Atlanta too,” Denise remarks. “We love the flexibility of having both lifestyles. And that’s what we tell people; it’s the best of both worlds. “There are plenty of opportunities around here — and there’s something for everyone, price wise. But you have to have the right agent to help you find them. Rachel would be my recommendation — she knows the area and is so plugged in with what is going on.” “[The Emerald Coast] is far away from the hustle and bustle, but close enough to stay connected with friends and family who can easily come down for a visit,” Rachel adds. “It takes very little research to discover that investment experts tout the Emerald Coast market as one of the most lucrative investment areas in the nation. Not to mention our culture — we are far enough north in Florida to have an element of Southern hospitality mixed in perfectly here. The rule is sunny weather with cool breezes, perfect for an active lifestyle that keeps you vibrant and in touch with nature.”

Sailing in Style Cunard Cruise Line remains an elite experience for travelers

26

T R E N D SE T T E R | TR AVEL

While our world was vastly different two centuries ago, appreciation for quality remains the same and continues to inspire the Cunard experience. The British-based luxury cruise line has welcomed discerning travelers since the 1840s — from royalty to Hollywood starlets to military heroes — and has quite literally sailed the seven seas of the globe. If you’re pondering your next trip, you may be wondering what makes Cunard so distinctive – is it really worth so many people coming back year after year? Put simply, the level of luxury offered by Cunard is different from most. Onboard the company’s fleet — including the popular Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria — guests CONTINUED >

experience a feeling of well-being that prevails long after they’ve resumed daily life. All five senses are engaged on a Cunard cruise; guests are treated to decadent cuisine, premium entertainment, restorative activities and even artful decor. In fact, the fleet’s newest ship, the Queen Anne, recently impressed its previewers with a collection of more than 4,000 pieces of art, including previously unpublished works from Pei Chi Lee, John Biggs, Tommy Camerno and other noteworthy contemporary artists. Take it from Alan Lescelles, an Atlanta resident who has sailed with Cunard an impressive 40 times and counting. Lescelles treasures every voyage for its trademark blend of tradition, elegance and unexpected surprises. “You’ll always encounter the most interesting guests,” he remarks with a chuckle. “One time, we were sitting with a famous musician from the 1960s and ‘70s

– Roger McGuinn who founded The Byrds! There’s often distinguished politicians, famous generals . . . all kinds of people.” In addition to intriguing folks to mingle with, Cunard’s numerous amenities are charming and unique. Lescelles fondly recalls how, years ago, when his daughter was only 3, she was invited by her onboard nanny to attend a special tea party for young children inside one of the ship’s finest restaurants – thereby minting a new Cunard fan for life. There’s always something to pique everyone’s interests, according to Lescelles – from “great speakers and entertainers to cooking classes under a chef’s guidance to ballroom dancing to stargazing inside the planetarium.” “It’s nostalgic in many ways but also very modern – and the internet connection is superb, so you can keep up with reading The Wall Street Journal,” he adds cheekily.

Thirty-five years ago, the desire for unforgettable vacations shared by Cunard guests inspired Howard Moses to launch his travel company, The Cruise and Vacation Authority, located in East Cobb. As of 2023, Moses and his team have helped scores of individuals (and their extended families) spend less time planning their vacations and more time enjoying them — and Cunard is a perennial favorite. “The Queen Mary is one of the most beautiful ships you’ll ever see: art deco styling, artwork, photography, and touches reminiscent of transatlantic sailing from the mid20th century,” Moses remarks. “Cunard is a different kind of cruise line — it is more refined and elegant in relaxation.” Lescelles concurs, as he looks forward to his own upcoming voyage. “We’ll be on the Queen Mary in late May, crossing over to England to catch up with

family,” he beams. “Then we’ll spend some time in the Mediterranean. I would highly recommend Cunard for those who want to travel and visit new places.. It’s a great way to see the world.” To learn more, visit tcava.com and cunard.com.

Founded in 1933, the Junior League of Cobb-Marietta is committed to promoting volunteerism, developing potential and improving the community through the action and leadership of trained volunteers. This mission wouldn’t be possible without community support — donors, sponsors and partners. It’s important for JLCM and its members to host exciting events to not only accomplish this mission but invite the community to help. One such event is the League’s Mint Julep Mingle, their inaugural Derby Party, held Saturday, May 6 at Boxwood Social Hall on historic Marietta Square.

“We are elated to be hosting this firsttime event, which is actually replacing our annual Online Spring Fundraiser,” says Amber Wilson, JLCM’s vice president of fund development. “It will not only be a fun experience that the community can attend, but proceeds from ticket sales, auction bids and a raffle will support the Cobb County organizations we give back to year-round through our service projects.” Each year, the Junior League of CobbMarietta’s financial impact is more than $200,000. TASTE OF EAST COBB –

more than just a food festival

Taste of East Cobb is a food festival and community event that has become an annual tradition since 2006. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, May 6 in the south parking lot of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church located at 955 Johnson Ferry Road. Since its inception, the mission of the food festival has been to promote the music programs of East Cobb schools with all proceeds directly benefiting the award-winning band program at Walton High School. Taste of East Cobb is organized completely by volunteers, and each year it takes over 50 volunteers and countless hours to coordinate and host the event. This event is much more than a food festival—it brings the East Cobb community members, businesses, and restaurants together to celebrate MUSIC, FOOD, and FUN. The Taste of East Cobb is packed full of great food and plenty to see and do such as: • A delicious variety of menu items from the East Cobb’s finest restaurants • A Kids’ Zone area with inflatables and fun hands-on activities including sand art and face painting • Great live entertainment featuring performances by the Walton High School’s jazz bands and other East Cobb school bands • Unique products and services offered by local vendors • A silent auction offering distinctive and valuable merchandise • The “Best of Taste of East Cobb” voting competition

I S L A N D T I M E Consider Curacao for your next travel adventure

ARTICLE BY SEAN O’KEEFE

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I stepped off the plane in Willemstad, Curaçao. I’d heard about Curaçao before but never imagined such a beautiful island overflowing with culture and history. Located some 44 miles off the coast of Venezuela, Curaçao is the largest of the islands, both in size and in population, that make up the Dutch Caribbean. Everyone is welcome to share in the “Dushi” life of Curaçao. In the local Papiamentu language, Dushi is affirmational and all meanings are positive. Dushi is tasty, beautiful, sexy, sweet, delicious or just plain old nice. It is

“This luxurious tropical paradise is the embodiment of fine service and attention to detail. A world-class resort, Zöetry celebrates the culture and heritage of the island while offering guests the highest level of personalized service.” literally the favorite adjective of the island. The country of Curaçao even has a nickname: Dushi Korsou. Willemstad, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, accommodates some 743 notable international monuments. Its rich, globally-influenced history illustrates the organic growth of a multicultural community over three centuries. Willemstad’s people and maritime history are vibrantly expressed through the city’s incredible public art installations. Beautifully colored sculptures and murals adorn the buildings, courtyards and park benches throughout this breathtaking seaside paradise – each telling a unique story of Curaçao. Grab a scooter and get lost amongst the pastel crayon-colored Dutch colonial buildings that give way to hidden sculpture gardens, neighborhood art galleries, painted staircases and adorned alleyways. Be sure to catch Curaçao’s “big sister," Chichi, the ubiquitous Rubenesque lady of the island who is always portrayed with brightly patterned, vivid fabrics. Downtown Willemstad boasts some of the city’s best sites, including the one-of-a-kind Queen Emma Floating Bridge and Wilhelmina Plaza. For a real taste of the island don’t forget a local rum tasting at Annabay Club or catch an authentic island lunch at Plasa Bieu Food Hall. Whether you feel like a quick snack or a gourmet meal, there are options. Restaurant Nultwintig with its sleek beachside dining room is the ultimate island dining experience. Artfully plated local ingredients dazzle thanks to an international team of very gifted chefs. Ceviche 91 Gastrobar lives up to its name offering creative and innovative ceviche, as well as international cuisine and tapas. Be sure to check out Number Ten Café for lunch. Located in a restored mansion located on the grounds of Landhuis Bloemhof, Number Ten is

eclectically decorated and offers a simple but upscale café experience. Curaçao is only 171 square miles, so you can really get anywhere and back in just one day. There are 38 sun-soaked beaches in Curaçao to explore. While some of the beaches are developed, most are tucked into the hidden coves that dot the island's shores. Whether taking in some sun, hiking along the rugged coastline or jet-skiing across pristine blue waters, each beach is unique and offers a glimpse into island life. The waters that surround this tiny island nation are home to expansive coral reefs brimming with marine life and are perfect for snorkeling or diving. Be sure to experience Shete Boka National Park’s underground seaside caverns or the beautiful beach at Playa Kenepa Chikitu. Kas di Pal’I Maishi, a plantation house that doubles as an interactive museum and village, offers visitors a chance to embrace the rural history of Curaçao while making outdoor stone oven bread, Pan Será. After a whirlwind day, there is no better place to call home than Zöetry Curaçao Resort & Spa. This luxurious tropical paradise is the embodiment of fine service and attention to detail. A world-class resort, Zöetry celebrates the culture and heritage of the island while offering guests the highest level of personalized service. Just a quick shuttle away, you can enjoy a personal tropical paradise known as Piscadera Bay. Kick back and enjoy the amazing pool while savoring edible creations from Restaurant Botanica, or explore the island-influenced menu at Zöetry’s fine dining restaurant, Bloom. The staff at Zöetry are always there when you need them; graciously waiting to be of service. Curaçao is a vibrant island that offers every visitor an inner peace that flows from the soul of its people. If you haven’t already, put it at the top of your travel bucket list!

Vegeta rian Adventures LATIN INSPIRED, PLANT-BASED CUISINE IS THE FOCAL POINT AT BAR MARGOT

ARTICLE BY SUE COLLINS

C ULIN A RY C R E AT ION S | F OOD + BE VE RAGE

CHICKPEA & AVOCADO TOSTADAS MAKES 3 SERVINGS. Sous Chef Chad “Sosa” Hester and team have created a menu of internationally-inspired, plant-based cuisine that is now available on the lunch and dinner menus at Bar Margot at Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta. The five new dishes are house-made using non-processed ingredients, where nearly all of the produce is sourced from regional Southeastern farms. We met Chef Sosa and the rest of the team recently and were impressed by the commitment to flavor and storytelling through their new menu. Everyone in the kitchen has a magnetic personality and an enthusiasm for their craft that shines through loud and clear in every dish. Luckily for East Cobb Lifestyle readers, Chef Sosa has shared a recipe for a gorgeous (and easy to make) tostada that just might transport you to another world. But first, here’s a little background. In 2020, Chef Sosa expanded his culinary skills by launching a food truck called Plant-Based Kitchen. Through this year-long venture, he connected directly with Atlanta’s community of vegans, vegetarians, flexitarians and the plant-curious, who introduced him to the growing desire for elevated plant-based food. His first-hand interactions became his motivation to explore innovative methods and ingredients when preparing hearty, delicious meals – sans animal products, which revealed a need to add such items to the Bar Margot menu. When it came time to begin experimenting with ingredients, Chef Sosa followed his heart for inspiration, which led him to the people of Bar Margot – from the bartenders and cooks he works alongside to the restaurant’s multicultural clientele. “I am grateful for the array of cultures shared inside our kitchen. It is a reflection of the rich diversity found throughout Atlanta,” he muses. “For instance, one of our cooks, Alissa Bermudez, is originally from Hawaii. I love the clean, vibrant ingredients of a traditional poke, but to make it vegan, we replaced ahi tuna with red and golden beets. Several of our team members are from West Africa, which became a source of inspiration for the spicy jollof rice garnished with a meaty-textured king trumpet mushroom.” Trying new dishes can be intimidating, for certain. But during this fresh spring season of rebirth, why not venture outside your meat and potatoes and treat your body to a plant-based dining adventure?

INGREDIENTS: • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • •

2 tablespoons olive oil 2 teaspoons marsala wine 4 tablespoons soy sauce, enough to coat all ingredients 4 cups steamed chickpeas 1 red onion, diced 1 red bell pepper, diced 2 cups chopped cauliflower ½ cup chopped fresh cilantro leaves 2 ½ tablespoons onion powder 2 ½ tablespoons garlic powder 2 tablespoons cayenne pepper 1 tablespoon paprika 2 whole ripe avocados, peeled and pits removed 2 tablespoons chili oil 4 fresh limes: 2 juiced, 2 sliced in quarters 3 crispy corn tortillas 1 pound radishes, spiralized 3 tablespoons toasted coconut flakes 4 tablespoons pickled ginger

DIRECTIONS 1. In a medium saucepan, drizzle olive oil, marsala wine and soy sauce over medium heat. When heated, slowly add steamed chickpeas, red onion, red bell pepper, chopped cauliflower and cilantro. Season with onion powder, garlic powder, cayenne pepper and paprika. Saute all ingredients until tender. Remove from heat and pour ingredients into a medium mixing bowl. Cover and place inside the refrigerator to chill for a minimum of three hours or overnight. 2. To make the avocado coulis, place the two avocados, chili oil and half of the lime juice in the bowl of a food processor. Add salt to taste. Puree until smooth. Set aside. 3. Place three corn tortillas on a plate. Spread a layer of the avocado coulis on each tortilla. Remove the bowl of sautéed vegetables from the refrigerator; scoop desired amount onto each tortilla. Top with spiralized radish and a sprinkle of toasted coconut flakes. Garnish with pickled ginger. Squeeze juice from lime wedges over each, for added flavor. Visit FourSeasons.com/Atlanta.

Sleep Inside, Outside 5 Incredible places to (literally) sleep under the stars

O UT D OOR A DV E N T U R E | TRAVE L

It’s always magical to spend a night sleeping under the stars. In decades past, adventure seekers have packed the SUV or camper with tents and gear for ‘roughin’ it’ in the great outdoors. But the swanky and exploding category of luxury outdoor hotel is something to investigate for an unforgettable, next-level experience. For those who prefer glamping rather than pitching their own tent fireside, here are a few options that incorporate sweeping views and a unique

opportunity for travelers to be more authentically embedded in the landscape of the place they’re visiting. These resorts have bucket list-worthy rooms that capture the best of both the luxury resort experience and the outdoors. Whether you crave the dry heat of the remote Utah desert or the luminous beauty of the Northern Lights, we’ve curated a short list of some places you *must* check out.

Photography by Amangiri, USA

Amangiri, Utah In southern Utah, Amangiri is a five star resort perfect for an adventurous weekend in the desert. However, it is the simple rooms built to emphasize the beauty of Canyon Point that truly make it an incredible place to stay. Each suite has an outdoor lounge and fireplace with private pools or rooftop terraces available too. Don’t miss a dip in the ‘gram-worthy pool, which wraps around the landscape’s curved dunes and arid plateaus. CONTINUED >

Starlight Room, Italy You won’t find a more memorable way to “sleep indoors, outdoors” than The Starlight Room in Italy. It sits 7,000 feet up in the Italian Dolomites. The small, glass-walled cabin rests atop skis which allow it to be positioned perfectly for guests’ stargazing pleasure as they are immersed in breathtaking nature. Its remote locale means the only ways to reach the summit are snowmobiling, fat biking or snowshoeing.

Pacuare Lodge, Costa Rica This jungle hideaway is so out there, you have to whitewater raft down a river or ride a gondola to get there. A network of hanging bridges connect the villas, which have thatched roofs, plantation teak wood floors, rattan furniture and private plunge pools. In the evening, zip 400 feet down a cable for a meal at the Nest, a platform at the top of a ceiba tree, then take a night-time stroll along romantic pathways lit by candles and lanterns. D O N ’ T WA I T UNTIL YO U ’ R E 10 0 EXPLORI N G THE C ON CE P T O F LON GEV ITY TODAY

Nearly 30 years ago, Max came to my office as a 98-year-old who was crippled, broke and alone. This beautiful soul was trapped inside a broken-down body; he’d been suffering for decades. He asked, “Can you help me?” My chiropractic practice was filled with young families, athletes, executives and community leaders with fantastic results — but a nearly 100-year-old man? As it turns out, I could help — and I was excited to see Max's results. He stood up straighter, his pain reduced and he started walking with more pep. Unfortunately, Max had been degenerating for decades. He had no idea he was going to live to 100. I wished I could have gotten to him sooner. I started asking our younger families, “If you knew you were going to live to be 100, how would you change your life today?” The answers led to creating The 100 Year Lifestyle. With seniors one of the fastest growing age groups — and assisted living centers on nearly every corner — we're surrounded by advanced notice of our longevity potential. It’s a sobering reminder that how you live while young will contribute to your quality of life as you age. If, for example, you want to be active, travel and enjoy your grandchildren, you might need to live differently. Age has nothing to do with feeling young – it’s how you take care of yourself that's vital, especially the spine and nervous system. Living from crisis to crisis and masking symptoms with a shoebox of drugs is not the answer! The chiropractic care and principles we provide through The 100 Year Lifestyle are changing people’s lives locally and worldwide. Don’t wait for a crisis to force you to change. Be proactive. You’ll be glad you did. To learn more, visit plaskerchiropractic.com or 100YearLifestyle.com.
