Our October issue is filled with helpful tips, fall fashions and inspiration around entertaining and creating a fabulous table setting highlighting beautiful autumn blooms. As a trusted contributor to City Lifestyle’s portfolio, we hope you will enjoy the writings of Atlanta’s entertaining and event guru Sean O’Keefe. He is regularly seen on CBS Better Mornings and WXIA-TV’s Atlanta and Company. Sean has more than 20 years of serving as a culinary consultant, private chef, event planner, florist, mixologist, and event designer. His limitless creativity and talent have provided the opportunity for him to work for old Hollywood, new Hollywood, royalty, politicians and the jet set. Our second issue gives us another reason to make a difference as we help raise awareness of an amazing 100% volunteer-driven charitable organization supporting children in need and how we can help. Very importantly, with October as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we want to lift up the charitable organizations and businesses who work tirelessly to accelerate research and support those who are affected by breast cancer. As shared in last month's inaugural issue, we are so grateful to have the opportunity to make connections, work with incredible people, and share stories that inspire and provide insight into the very best of local. We are thankful to share our magazine with you and appreciate our partners and team who care deeply about the community and our work. As always, we look forward to seeing you around town!

Cooking during this fall season should be all about highlighting beautiful seasonal produce. Lucky for us, we have a bounty at our doorstep at the Marietta Square Farmers Market, open year-round. Johnny Fulmer has been the market director for 20 years and is a board member of the Downtown Marietta Development Authority. This fall season, he celebrates local farmers and growers and says vendors are committed to producing the highest quality handmade goods. The market has an average of 67 vendors and hundreds of customers each week. “Market customers have lots of variety to choose from including heirloom tomatoes, fruits and vegetables that are rarely, if ever, available from the grocery store,” he says. “We also have lots of the staples such as potatoes, onions, tomatoes, squash, and beans in addition to pattypan squash, heirloom salad mix, amazing cut flower arrangements, local honey, herbal soaps, whole grain breads, jelly, jam and preserves. Customers can also take home many live garden, yard and culinary herb plants.” The objective of the Marietta Square Farmers Market is to support the development of the local agricultural economy which will foster stewardship of our land and goodwill in our community.
“We do this by providing a place for farmers/growers to sell their goods directly to consumers and by assisting businesses that sell food, farm and garden and kitchen related products gain entry into the local market,” says Fulmer. “The Market is a place that will provide alternative shopping and bring together people from all walks of life from throughout our community.” Fresh Produce. I Love My Beach Life.
At an early age I was taught when you find good in this world you share it with others. After living in Atlanta and Nashville for two decades, my husband Scott and I decided life was too short not to LOVE where you LIVE! We embraced the decision to move to our vacation paradise of the Emerald Coast’s Scenic 30A and never looked back. Beach life immediately felt like home to us. Sharing this lifestyle with others is a dream and doesn’t feel like work!

Historically speaking, private chefs were only available to the wealthy and the elite of Hollywood and global royalty. Having a chef in your kitchen at home was an absolute sign of privilege. Imagine having a personal chef to do your shopping, and meal preparation. Serving you and your family a gourmet dinner in your own home every night sounds like a terrific idea. These days, with the culinary arts as a career choice for so many, there are private chefs who specialize in any cuisine, fad diet craze, or medical dietary restrictions. Today, the private chef has become super accessible for everything from weekly meal prep to company parties, family birthdays, and anniversaries. Private chefs are there to help us with our day-to-day living and they are elevating how we dine and celebrate, making our lives so much better. I was a private chef in Beverly Hills and Santa Barbara for over 20 years. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktail parties, formal affairs, and romantic dinners at home were my specialty; my clients took advance of everything that I had to offer. In my world, the private chef sets the table, handles the floral design, stocks the wine cellars, pours the wine, crafts the cocktails, and caters to every whim and fancy of their clients. Over the years the job description has changed but at the end of the day, our primary job is to prepare nutritious gourmet meals with the freshest ingredients. Most importantly we are charged with the responsibility of making our clients feel like a guest in their own homes.

“Private chefs are there to help us with our day-to-day living and they are elevating how we dine and celebrate, making our lives so much better.”
The author at work.
A local Roswell-based private chef, Adeyinka Akinpelu, owner of BBQYinka, is a self-taught grill master. "When I started my business, the objective was to work with a few businesses to provide delicious grilled food to local patrons," says Yinka. "I cater wine and food pairing events for a local business and I have even expanded into catering for private events and grilling lessons to help neighbors improve their BBQ skills." Our editor, Sue Collins recently spent a weekend in Hilton Head with girlfriends all celebrating their 60th birthdays. The ladies were more interested in spending time together on the beach than cooking, so Sue called Chef Lynn Michelle, "The East Coast Chef," to come and prepare dinner in

their rental house. Everything was made from scratch right there in the kitchen, while Sue and her friends popped in to watch the preparation and taste the magic from time to time. The chef presented a few menu options and even created beautiful menu cards for the ladies. "The personal interaction, flexibility and quality of the food was such a treat with a personal chef," says Sue. "I highly recommend Chef Lynn Michelle if you're planning a Hilton Head or Lowcountry vacation." Chef Lynn Michelle believes that food brings people together. Her experiences living all over the world — as well as formal training in Culinary Arts at Johnson & Wales — not only opened her eyes to a range of culinary styles and flavors but
enabled her to craft her culinary skills into her own unique style. She worked with Sue on timing and the menu and when the sweet potato biscuits came out of the oven, the chef heard the ladies gush over them and served a plate for sampling while the ladies were playing dominoes in the next room. She and her assistant (pictured here - her mom!) stayed just long enough to serve dinner and left the kitchen spotless, leaving discretely with a quiet goodbye. Find her at ChefLynnMichelle.com Almost any occasion can be elevated to the next level by adding in a chef to make it all that more special. So, sit back and relax, leave the shopping and the meal to a dedicated professional whose only job is to look after and tend to your every culinary desire.

FA S H I O N F O R WA R D A DESIGNER AND BOUTIQUE OWNER SHARE THEIR FOUR FAB FALL LOOKS ARTICLE BY SUE G. COLLINS
LIESA HESS OCCUPATION: owner of Apricot Lane Boutique Liesa Hess is the owner of Apricot Lane Boutique in Marietta and handpicks each item, listening to customers. She believes her boutique should be a place for community. “Some days people walk in the door and just need to talk and that is one of the things I enjoy doing is being an ear to listen. I want everyone who enters to feel like this is a welcoming place.”
FOUR LOOKS LIESA LOVES FOR FALL: 1. Tulle- You will see this in every form from top, skirt, dress. I would pair a tulle top with some fun leather pants and a pair of heels to make a flirty yet feminine look. 2. Cargo Pants- You will see these in denim, silk, khaki and more. You can style these with a chunky sweater and sneakers or boots. For the silky ones I would pair a chunky sweater and a fun pair of high heels. 3. Barbie Vibes- Pink will be seen in clothing and accessories from wide leg trousers, midi dresses, skirts, corset tops, handbags, shoes, etc. This happens to be my favorite color so I am beyond thrilled for this. 4. Leather- You will see leather everywhere in skirts, pants, tops, jackets and I am here for it. I love leather and already have so many leather - like pieces in store. “We strive to be a place where daughter, mother, and grandmother can all shop. I have customers from 13-76 and as I continue to learn and grow, I continue to try to make sure I have pieces for every age,” says Liesa. Be sure to grab a tube of Kind Lips balm. With 20% of profits given to anti-bullying organizations, each tube of KIND LIPS is a reminder to be kind. E R I N G R AY OCCUPATION: founder and designer of erin gray Erin Gray Morton is founder and designer of erin gray, a collection of pima cotton white tees and waterproof gold-filled jewelry right here in Atlanta. Erin’s company dedicates annual contributions to childhood cancer patients and their families through CURE Childhood Cancer, an organization dedicated to finding a cure for cancers that affect children.
FOUR LOOKS ERIN LOVES FOR FALL: 1. Basics, but LUXURIOUS basics! Luxurious basic pima cotton tees are the ones you will grab every time. Think timeless, classic, what you pack to go on vacation. Reach for the long sleeve raglan crew (an elevated throw-back to the baseball-style tee), and our dolman V three-quarter length tee (which is slightly dressier and a perfect layering piece for game day. 2. NAVY! Our best-selling CYA (Cover Your Assets) long-sleeve crew is a perfect addition to your fall wardrobe. These tees are perfect to wear with leggings or with a boyfriend, front tuck into your favorite, comfy jeans.
3. Year-round WHITE is in! White looks good on everyone and dresses up every outfit with minimal effort. Our newest piece is banded at the waist and the wrists and features a raw-edge neckline. 4. B L A K E LY WHITEHEAD OCCUPATION: founder and owner of Willow Park Blakely Whitehead was raised in East Cobb where her father worked in the fashion industry. She worked for a high-end men’s designer, as well as a women’s boutique in Buckhead. She then transitioned her career into the interior design industry and worked in the design world for over 15 years. She has since combined her shared love of fashion into creating Willow Park located in Paper Mill Village.
FOUR LOOKS BLAKELY LOVES FOR FALL. 1. I love fall floral patterns that can be dressed up with heels or paired down with jeans and loafers or sneakers. Without a doubt, everyone is ready to get dressed and celebrate special occasions! 2. Feminine dresses are one of our favorite looks for fall. From maxi dresses to shorter shifts, there’s a wide range of options that can be worn with a cardigan, a denim jacket or a vegan leather jacket. Weather in the south is unpredictable so we have to be prepared for anything!

3. While I love the romance of feminine dresses, nothing beats a great top for versatility. From a crisp collar to a detailed sleeve, a few special tops can enhance every wardrobe. 4. A fresh pair of neutral shoes is a must. Your clothing and accessories should make the statement, not your feet! I like to have an assortment of neutral boots, heels, loafers and sneakers.

Let autumn inspire you ARTICLE BY SUE G. COLLINS | PHOTOGRAPHY BY PAUL VERSLUIS & PROVIDED Autumn means more time outside and here in East Cobb, we celebrate cooler weather and find more time to spend on porches, in backyards and around a roaring fire. Move the party outside this month by giving your outdoor furniture a good clean (we like Murphy’s Oil Soap for just about any outdoor surface) and curate a space for conversations, naps and meals with special friends. Bring rugs, cozy throws and big pillows outside on sunny days and stretch out with a good book. Invite neighbors or friends over for an afternoon of lawn games or touch football and serve this cocktail to officially toast to the new season. Cheers to fall, y’all!

Giving Where The Need Is Greatest ARTICLE BY MARIA SMITH
95-year-old organization continues to support Georgia’s children most in need.

“LOVE IS A PERFUME YOU CANNOT POUR ONTO OTHERS WITHOUT GETTING A FEW DROPS ON YOURSELF.” – RALPH WALDO EMERSON The Georgia-based non-profit, Circle for Children, has given aid and encouragement to disadvantaged children in Georgia since 1927. They are a 100% volunteer organization with a rich tradition of giving back to children in need and supporting future-changing activities for many youth-serving organizations. This year's beneficiary is the City of Refuge, where shelter residents and neighborhood children receive a wide range of holistic services. Belinda Vogel is the current president of this long-running charitable foundation and spoke with East Cobb City Lifestyle about the good work they have done for the last 95 years.
ECL: WHAT MADE YOU GET INVOLVED WITH CIRCLE FOR CHILDREN? BV: I was invited to join The Circle for Children by a neighbor and friend Janie Kissling. Janie has a giving heart and I knew if she was involved in the organization, it was worth exploring. The Circle is now in its 95th year; it’s inspiring and humbling to be part of that legacy of giving. Our archives reside at The Atlanta History Museum. Not many volunteer groups can say that. Originally The Young Matrons Circle for Tallulah Falls School, The Circle evolved to focus on at-risk children across the state of Georgia. We raise money for vetted beneficiaries and our scholarships fund, as well as volunteer at the charity we support.
ECL: WHAT ARE THE MOST REWARDING EXPERIENCES YOU HAVE HAD WITH THE ORGANIZATION? BV: Recently I was part of the long-term planning committee that selects a beneficiary and is very difficult
to choose. There are so many charities doing important work for GA children, and there is such great need, be it kids in foster care, dealing with mental health issues, or experiencing homelessness. One of the benefits of joining The Circle is knowing the organization has vetted the beneficiary; money donated and raised and hours volunteered are going to a worthy cause. It is also inspiring to review the scholarship applications we receive. Again, selecting recipients is difficult, and often their life stories are heartbreaking, but they are all determined to shape their own lives and move beyond whatever challenges they have experienced. We currently support eight Circle Scholars through our Linda Gross Memorial Scholarship fund. Some grew up as wards of the state, and others experienced poverty or family breakdown. Many are the first in their family to attend college or trade school.
ECL: WHY IS AN ORGANIZATION LIKE THIS NEEDED TODAY? BV: We all know we live in a time of division and loneliness. We hear about the studies and statistics and experience them in our own lives. Helping others is a remedy for our disconnection that benefits both the giver and the recipients. The Circle for Children provides a container for the giving; it’s a way to share the work with others, create connections within and beyond our immediate community, and have fun while doing it.
WANT TO GET INVOLVED? Join the Circle For Children at their new member recruitment event on October 2, 2022. Also, they are hosting their annual golf tournament at Indian Hills Country Club on October 24 and the Bags and Bubbles Auction at Atlanta Country Club on November 9. Greenville! FOR A QUICK WEEKEND GETAWAY, EAT YOUR WAY THROUGH GREENVILLE, SC AT THE 41ST ANNUAL FALL FOR GREENVILLE FESTIVAL
When I pulled into gregarious Greenville, SC and sauntered down N. Main Street, I wondered if I’d wandered onto a movie set. I found tidy sidewalks under a leafy green canopy, open shop doors, happy people lunching on patios and a feeling of lightness that I’d nearly forgotten existed. And, this month, the city opens its arms to welcome visitors to the 41st annual Fall for Greenville Festival, October 14-16, along one of the sweetest (and soon, busiest) main streets here in the South. James Beard-nominated chefs serve up their signature dishes alongside some of the city's most authentic international eateries. There’s also live music, with free performances from more than 60 bands on five stages across downtown Greenville, a walkable and vibrant neighborhood on the Reedy River. There, you'll find Falls Park, dipping down from the soaring Liberty Bridge, where it reigns over the picturesque urban riverside park full of picnickers, young families and nappers sprawled out in the early autumn sunshine. The waterfall that commands attention here, once covered and forgotten, has been resurrected thanks to a successful (and rare) partnership between community activists and strong city leadership. This sort of love of community shines through so much of what you’ll discover on your visit. Australian artist Guido Van Helten spent 704 hours painting an 18,900-square-foot mural that is impossible to miss as you enter Greenville. The mural features Pearlie Harris with seven

As one of the South's hottest food cities, this is the perfect weekend to taste why; there are no guest chefs or pricey wine dinners- this is ALL Greenville, and most dishes are $3- $5. Chefs compete for the coveted Silver Spoon, an honor given to the best-tasting bites from more than 250 dishes, awarded by a panel of guest judges representing some of the top food media in the US. Known for its variety of culinary offerings --50+ local eateries set up pop-up tents along 8 blocks of Main Street offering up samples of their most popular dishes-- Fall for Greenville also means 3 days of live music from some of the best young talent on the East Coast. This sense of place and respect for history makes me love Greenville even more. FallForGreenville.net Are you looking to stay in the heart of downtown Greenville? HOW T H E M AGIC H A PPE N S THANK YOU TO ALL OUR PARTNERS!
Working with City Lifestyle magazines has always been a joy for me. The articles and photographs are detailed enough to me to keep engaged and certainly never too long that I would become uninterested. Always incredible photos, always. Just like Instagram, magazine photos are highly stylized, and never what they appear to be. You may think it fabulous and easy but, more often than not, that is never the case. Take for example the cover of this month's issue of East Cobb City Lifestyle. Simple, right? Stack a few plates, light a candle or two, cut a few fresh flowers from the garden, and voila a perfect picture. What you don’t realize is that this one cover photo took two-plus days. Shopping for featured items, sourcing chairs and a great backyard from our realtor partner, picking up tabletop décor, calling a fantastic photographer was all pretty routine and only took half a day to accomplish. Having an incredible photographer is a must. My dear friend Jolie Loren has been my photographer for over two years now and I simply don’t do anything without her. Her patience and attention to detail make her a perfect partner for any photo that is needed. Carithers Flowers on Powers Ferry Road is one of the best florists in Atlanta. The dedicated team

was attentive, made great suggestions on flower choice, and the arrangements were beautiful. Thank you to David Sirzyk Listing Realtor and Managing Partner of SET Real Estate Group COMPASS and East Cobb City Lifestyle Partner Amy Jones Realtor and Team Principal of Atlanta Legacy Team COMPASS for providing the beautiful East Cobb home backdrop. Atlanta Party Rentals is a one-stop shop for all of your catering and special event needs. Literally, they have everything from incredible plates to breadbaskets; wine glasses to napkins. Off I went to stage and stylize the cover shot; little did I know that mother nature had other plans for me. In total, the cover shot evolved over the two days of rain, clouds and challenges. We love the result and hope you do too!
