LIFESTYLE LETTER
The Tutu Effect: A Matter of Style
September 2025 PUBLISHER
Will Rivera | will.rivera@citylifestyle.com CO-PUBLISHER
Karen Rivera | karen.rivera@citylifestyle.com M AN AG I N G E D I TO R
I’ll never forget when my daughter was 2 years old and living in her hot-pink tutu era. I took her to storytime at the library, and while all the other kids were dressed in their cute, muted play clothes, she sashayed in like a tiny ballerina hurricane. Half embarrassed and wondering if I should have made her wear something a little less loud for the quiet occasion, an older woman approached with an encouraging smile. She leaned down and shared some wisdom I’ve never forgotten: “The world needs more tutus.” And then she thanked me for letting my daughter embrace her style. Style is what makes us unique. It’s the spark, the detail, or the unexpected choice that sets us apart and adds richness to an otherwise vanilla world. And don’t get me wrong … I love vanilla! But without a little contrast, how would we ever appreciate what really stands out? In this issue, we explore style through a spectrum of lenses. We take a look at up-and-coming fashion and design trends that offer fresh ways to express yourself. We meet makers who are redefining what craftsmanship can look like, blending tradition with creative edge and vision. You’ll find venues that elevate your next event, workspaces designed to help you build something truly your own, and even ways to make your food and cocktails look (and taste) unforgettable. But style isn’t just about what we see; it’s also about how we feel. It shows up in the confidence to walk into a room as your authentic self, in embracing your quirks, and in taking pride in sharing your own story (sometimes with thousands of followers). Style isn’t just clothes, décor, or what’s trending. It’s the element that makes people pause, take notice, and remember you, even if it’s as simple as showing up with some unexpected kindness. This issue is a celebration of all the beautiful variances that make us who we are. Whether you’re planning to retire in style, creating a backyard oasis, or just finding joy in the small details of your everyday life, we hope these pages spark something and remind you to lean into your own unique style. Even if it’s a hot-pink tutu.

ARTICLE BY TAWNEY STEDMAN | PHOTOGRAPHY BY SUMMER MILES As a long-time commercial real estate broker and a business owner myself, I’ve seen just about every type of commercial space you can imagine. But nothing has sparked as much creativity, personality, and innovation as the Personal Warehouse units at our Dripping Springs location on Fitzhugh Road. What makes these units truly special is the freedom our clients have to make the space their own. With premium essential designs and finishes, the spaces adapt for almost any use. And whether you’re an artist, auto enthusiast, builder, e-commerce entrepreneur, or coffee roaster, this is where business and lifestyle intersect in a way that’s both functional and deeply personal.

“What makes these units truly special is the freedom our clients have to make the space their own. With premium essential designs and finishes, the spaces adapt for almost any use.” The model unit in Dripping Springs is a perfect example. We’ve styled it with matte black framing, warm leather seating, natural textures, and a sleek glasswalled office beneath a steel mezzanine. The layout is efficient, but the feeling is upscale, modern Texas. It shows clients that a warehouse doesn’t have to be industrial; it can be inspirational. I’ve toured customer spaces that are high-end garages, creative design studios, and custom workshops with showroom-style polish. Some are decked out with custom lighting, built-in bars for entertaining, and wall art that speaks to the owner’s brand and mission. Others are serene and minimalistic, styled with intention to create a calm place to innovate, create, tinker, or recharge. As a broker, business owner, and artist, I’ve never seen spaces as innovative and exciting as these. Personal Warehouse delivers something truly unique: a chance to own a high-quality, flexible asset, ideal for business or personal needs while reflecting personal style. It’s a game changer for entrepreneurs, creatives, and anyone ready to take control of their space. I invite you to stop by our Dripping Springs location and take a tour to see what it looks and feels like in a space where business meets passion. At Personal Warehouse, style means ownership, purpose, and possibility all in one.

ARTICLE BY ANGELA AUCOIN PHOTOGRAPHY BY ALEXANDRA DAVIS
We live in a world where healthy living and the use of natural products is becoming more necessary and more popular. It isn’t a fad or a short-term diet; it’s a longterm commitment that can be life changing. According to BMJ Oncology, the incidence of cancer has increased 79 percent in people under 50 in the past 25 years. Today, one in two men and one in three women are expected to face cancer at some point in their lives. But we know that cancer isn’t a matter of bad luck: Ninety-five percent of cancers are caused by environmental and lifestyle choices, while only 5 percent are genetic. Our family was confronted with a lifestyle change after learning about my terminal illness. I thought we were healthy. We worked out, ate our veggies, drank filtered water, avoided fried food, took our multivitamins, and loved being in the sun. It wasn’t enough. July 6, 2022 was a day we will never forget: We were completely blindsided when I was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer at the age of 37, just six months after welcoming our beautiful baby girl.

Due to the severity of my condition, I had to act quickly. The cancer had spread from my left breast to the lymph nodes in my arm, to my lungs, liver, thigh bone, hips, spine, skull, and brain. My medical oncologist told me that my prognosis was three years and that I needed to get my affairs in order. She also said that, in extraordinary cases, some people might have 15 years. In a panic, I submerged myself in research, trying to figure out why this happened to me, what I had done to cause it, and what were my options for surviving it. Why couldn’t I be extraordinary? I have a husband and two kids who need me. I knew I had to find another way—a road less traveled. We navigated a new world of conventional oncology with some of the best doctors in Austin, Allison Gorrebeeck, M.D. and Michael Herman, M.D. with Texas Oncology. After I went through six rounds of chemotherapy and 10 rounds of full brain radiation, about 75 percent of the cancer had disappeared, but I still had tumors in my liver, bones, and brain. My body hurt and I was drained. Desperate to find alternative solutions to improve my immune system, God showed us the way using a divine set of experiences. Through mutual friends, I was invited to a Hope4Cancer seminar hosted at Alchemy Organics in downtown Dripping Springs. There, I met Tony Jimenez, M.D., N.D., one of the world’s leading integrative oncologists with over 30 years of experience helping late-stage cancer patients. Because Hope4Cancer is in Mexico and not covered by our health insurance, we knew we needed help financially. My husband, Chris, created a fundraising account and our kids’ preschool, Havenwood, held a silent auction. Countless friends and family members pitched in for support. We were overwhelmed by the response of our community as we raised more than $100,000, which was enough to cover our entire three-week trip to Cancun and a two-week trip to the Cancer Center for Healing in California to see Maggie Gama, M.D., another exceptional integrative oncologist.

Over the next year, I learned about the importance of integrative cancer treatment and holistic healing therapies. I found the “why” behind how this happened to me and the root cause of my diagnosis. I continued my research, connecting with others like me. I began my transformation and made a commitment to a healthy, non-toxic lifestyle. Here was the road less traveled— the pathway that brings together the best of integrative and conventional medicine, healing my mind, body, and spirit. After Mexico and California, we flipped our house upside down. We got rid of plastic as well as toxic cookware, soaps, lotions, candles, and cleaning products. We changed our diet to Keto and started buying all wild-caught, grass-fed, organic, natural foods. We got a Kangan machine that produces hydrogen water. We created a healing space upstairs with an infrared sauna, Peloton bike, Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy mat, hydrogen oxygen machine, ozone machine, and more. And after months of research and testing, we even made our own natural, organic skincare, which laid the foundation for our new local business, RIZN Organics, built on faith, hope, and renewal. The name RIZN is inspired by our risen Savior, Jesus Christ, and embodies our belief that, with God's promise, the best is yet to come. Healing the body from toxins with clean, safe products is our focus. Our oils are free from harmful chemicals found in
“OUR BODIES ARE FULLY CAPABLE OF healing IF WE PROTECT THEM AND FILL THEM WITH THE right ingredients.” most beauty products. Thoughtfully made for all skin types, including sensitive and acne-prone, they hydrate without any irritation and are proven to deliver smoother, more youthful-looking skin. It took my cancer diagnosis to learn what a truly healthy lifestyle was. As a community, we must make a change. Word is getting out; people are starting to take notice. New businesses are catching on to the trend, taking health back to its roots. We are returning to the way God intended: Our bodies are fully capable of healing if we protect them and fill them with the right ingredients. This past July marked three years post diagnosis, and I am 100-percent cancer free. I’m beyond grateful that, by God’s grace through my faith in Him, I am an extraordinary case. Be an advocate for yourself; do the research; live longer; be happy! Healthy living is the NEW style. RIZNorganics.com | @riznorganics

With Reverence and Oil Paint, Kara Shaw Channels Nature’s Mystery and God’s Grace ARTICLE BY MELISSA SVOBODA PHOTOGRAPHY BY ALEXANDRA DAVIS Even tucked in among the trees, Kara Shaw’s art studio is drenched in natural light. Wide windows open to the sky, illuminating the soft pinks and earthy golds she has swept over a canvas stretched upon the floor. In the cool, quiet air hangs the weighty scent of oil paint. But something else lingers: God is present here—in this studio, in Shaw’s bright eyes, in her reverence for the world outside her windows and her art that captures its spirit.

Raised in Spring, Texas, Shaw found early inspiration in her creative neighbors, sculptor Pablo Solomon and his wife, Beverly, who worked in fashion for Diane Von Fürstenberg. “My sister and I used to sneak into their garage attic and admire all of Pablo’s paintings,” she recalls. “For my 12th birthday, I asked my parents for a canvas and paint set. I was determined to learn.” Later, after taking studio art classes in college, she fell in love with oil painting. Today, Shaw is known for her atmospheric, large-scale works that seem to glow from within. “I think my art is about capturing the essence of my faith,” she explains. “My goal is to create a visual experience of both spiritual mystery and beauty. Hopefully, I have created a moment, like experiencing the peace of a sunset or a calm from resting your eyes on glistening water.” That focus on light and water infuses nearly every painting. Shaw frequently draws from nature, especially her own Driftwood backyard and the waters of Onion Creek. “If the creek is flowing, I will spend hours photographing the dance of water and light,” she says. “Maybe I catch a glimpse of a color palette, a texture, or the way the light moves. From there, I let my intuition guide me. I pray and allow the painting to evolve organically.” Her work often blends realism with a touch of whimsy. Whether painting serene Hill Country landscapes, the movement of wildlife, or the golden hues of pristine waterways, “I'm drawn to unusual perspectives and compositions that evoke a sense of wonder and curiosity,” she says. “I’m attempting to capture the beauty of nature and the magic that happens when light interacts with the world around us.” Color is central to that magic, and Shaw often experiments with pigments to create mood and atmosphere. “I’m fascinated by the way colors and light play off each other and the emotions they can evoke,” she shares. Beyond color, she adds dimension to her paintings through texture, building up layers of paint to create depth and movement. To achieve the desired effect, Shaw uses unexpected tools and materials—wax made from her own honeybees, silicone combs, gold leaf, even Q-tips—to help translate the natural world’s complexity onto the canvas.

A RT IST ’S PA LE T T E | ARTS + CU LT U RE
Shaw’s artistic style has evolved with her own seasons of life. “Our work is like a visual life journal,” she explains. “As an artist, we attempt to capture the beauty while in love and the shadows while facing trials.” Some of her most cherished pieces are those of children leaping into creeks, moments she describes as “pure joy and freedom.” Just as her family’s memories are intertwined with the land, Shaw’s art is deeply connected to Dripping Springs. She’s painted murals in local schools, built relationships in local art leagues, and draws lasting inspiration from Onion Creek, where her children played and swam. “The local community has a profound impact on my work,” she says. “The stunning beauty of the Hill Country and its wild waterways are my most passionate form of inspiration, and they are worth protecting.” Shaw donates a portion of every sale to conservation organizations like Protect Our Water and the Driftwood Historical Society, and she dreams of funding scholarships for young artists and environmental students.
When it comes to choosing art, Shaw encourages collectors to lead with feeling, not fashion. “If a painting moves you and makes you feel something, you will always love it, even when styles change,” she says. “Sometimes a work of art is made just for you … you will know the moment you see it.” Shaw’s world—surrounding her studio and covering her canvas—hums with the energy of the earth her family helped clear, the trees her children once climbed, and the quiet presence of those who came before her. Grounded in the soil and stirred by the creek waters, she strives to honor their spirit and share the essence of their Creator with each stroke of her paintbrush.

The Beauty of Restraint There’s a quiet elegance emerging in modern design. It isn’t loud or overly curated; it doesn’t beg for attention. Instead, it invites you in and encourages you to stay. And at Haus Collective, that has always been the goal: to create spaces that feel as good as they look.

We focus on clean lines, thoughtful flow, and materials that feel welcoming. There’s a warmth in restraint. Our work honors that by simplifying where possible and allowing the natural character of a space to shine through. More and more, clients come to us looking not for trends, but for peace. One of the most important shifts we’re seeing is the focus on how a space feels rather than how it photographs. Homeowners are prioritizing calm, clarity, and flow. Living rooms are designed to capture memories, not just conversation. Kitchens are being simplified, made for movement and ease. Hallways are no longer forgotten spaces, but places where light and architecture meet. Design for us is not about impressing guests. It’s about how you feel when you walk through the door at the end of the day. Our ethos begins with listening—to the architecture, to the surroundings, and, most importantly, to our clients. We believe a well-designed space should slow your pulse. It should invite you to breathe more deeply. It should reflect your values, your habits, your version of home. CONTINUED >

Today’s design landscape is marked by a return to what feels real and pure, and people are leaning into the beauty of imperfection. Natural stone countertops are taking center stage, not just for their aesthetic but for their authenticity. There’s something undeniably grounding about running your hand across a slab of marble or quartzite that’s been cut from the earth. Concrete floors, once reserved for industrial spaces, are now polished and poured into custom homes as a canvas for modern living. Paired with the depth and textures of natural wood cabinetry, the result is a space that feels timeless and tethered. The trend toward clean design and natural materials isn’t a fleeting one. It’s a response to the world we live in—a world craving for clarity, for quiet, for honesty. And in that way, design becomes something much deeper. It becomes a form of care. When a space feels right, you know it. That’s where our work begins. HausCollectiveATX.com @hauscollectiveatx

Fall is here, and that means cozy get-togethers, football watch parties, and holiday dinners are just around the corner. What better way to wow your guests (and keep them happily snacking) than with a charcuterie board that doubles as art? Start with colors and textures that feel like fall: rich reds from plums and grapes, bright green olives and kiwi, creamy white cheeses, and golden citrus slices.

Mix it up with a variety of cheeses, meats, and fruits so there’s something for everyone. Get creative with placement: Roll or twist salami and prosciutto into little rosettes, fan out cheese slices, and decorate fruit with playful cuts. Use small bowls for olives, pickles, or nuts to add height and keep things neat. And here’s your secret weapon: flowers or greenery. Tuck in some white roses or sprigs of herbs for an elegant, unexpected touch.
Elevate Your Charcuterie Board with Colorful Layers, Bold Textures, and Photo-Ready Presentation
Finally, don’t be shy: Layer, overlap, and fill every inch so it looks abundant and irresistible. With a little flair, your fall charcuterie board will steal the show and earn you major hostess points!

“Retire" is an interesting word. Rather than using the term “retirement,” I prefer to talk to my clients about getting to their “work-optional lifestyle.” Work takes on a new meaning when it’s optional. This work-optional lifestyle may be a time for you to start a business, serve full-time with a nonprofit, join a board, or mentor those under you while you continue doing what you have been doing. You can also choose to travel the world, if that’s in your work-optional plan. In short, what do you love to do? What would you do for work, even if you didn’t get paid? Whatever you choose to do during your work-optional years, having a plan that adapts as your life unfolds and your needs evolve over time can help to get you there. Wherever you are in your journey—just starting to save, approaching retirement, or in retirement looking to leave a lasting legacy—planning can be the thing that takes you to the next level.

WELL-SUITED spaces At the Eberly Team, we believe real estate is a lot like fashion: It’s about discovering your place, your lifestyle, and your style. And when choosing your perfect house, finding the right fit is deeply personal. Both fashion and real estate involve a process of discovery. By trying things on, you figure out what fits—not just physically, but emotionally. Sometimes, you have to get out of your comfort zone to see the full potential. A bold print might surprise you in the mirror the same way a bold paint color transforms a once-forgotten room. And, like hiring a stylist, hiring a home stager or interior designer can help bring out a home’s best features in ways you might not have seen on your own.
We teamed up with our friends at Monkee’s of Dripping Springs to bring our personal style to life for this special feature

We often tell our sellers that the way you live in a home is not always the way you sell a home. Just like an outfit for a date night might look a little different than your Sunday lounge set, selling a home means showing it at its most flattering. That’s where professional staging comes in. It’s not about covering things up; it’s about highlighting what’s already beautiful and removing distractions that could keep someone from seeing the full picture. And when buyers step into a space—even if it doesn't reflect their current taste—we are here to help them imagine the next version of themselves. That’s part of the magic. When we’re helping a client fall in love with a home or with a new neighborhood, we’re really helping them align with a lifestyle. Just like great fashion, great homes reflect who you are and who you aspire to be. That’s why we surround ourselves with professionals who specialize in making the most of every detail, from the first impression at the front door to the final touch of a statement piece. Our professional agents each have their own style and are unmatched when it comes to connecting people with their perfect properties. They understand on a deep level that buying or selling a home is a huge decision filled with all sorts of emotions. So, whether you’re a first-time buyer, moving up, or looking to invest, Benée Arndt and Betsy Smith with the Eberly Team will work tirelessly to guide you, educate you, and ultimately help you find your perfect fit. CRAFTED FOR Ranch Road Pools Delivers Excellence in Every Detail and Service Beyond the Surface ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY KIMBER BROWN

As luck would have it, a friend in the pool industry invited him to collaborate on a few projects, and for Killebrew, it was love at first build. “I completed my first project, saw the joy on the customer’s face, and that passion was ignited. It was the most rewarding experience of my professional life.” And with that, Ranch Road Pools was born. The catchy name is personal to Killebrew: “I’ve spent most of my adult life on Ranch Road 12,” he explains. “It’s a cultural artery of the Hill Country, and when people from around here see our logo, they know we’re local.” Being local isn’t just about geography; it’s about connection. Whether partnering with local businesses to elevate his clients’ experience or cheering from the fairways, fields, and sidelines at his kids’ games, Killebrew stays grounded in the community. Killebrew and his family put down roots here long before Dripping Springs became the bustling area it is today. “We’ve watched it grow from a sleepy little town into one of the fastest-growing communities in Texas, attracting residents from California to New York,” he reflects. “But we all share similar values. That’s why it’s been so amazing to watch it grow and be part of that growth.” CONTINUED >
For Jeremy Killebrew, founder and President of Ranch Road Pools, pool building is a passion rooted in community ties, craftsmanship, and integrity. That commitment has allowed him to build not only one of the most successful pool companies in the area, but also a reputation in Dripping Springs for reliability, attentive service, and a distinctive approach to style. Killebrew found his way into luxury pool building somewhat by chance. After owning several successful industrial construction companies, he decided to take his career in a different direction, knowing he wanted to spend more time with his wife and four children. “I was looking for something that would let me use my construction skills, project management experience, and creative side,” he recalls, “but would also allow me to focus my energy right here at home in Dripping Springs.”

In fact, the town’s dramatic growth has expanded his vision for Ranch Road Pools. “It’s opened my eyes to how big this company can be. We continue to grow in tandem with the community to meet increasing demand. With every new hire, we ‘level up’ in terms of capability, experience, and the quality of service we can offer our customers.” Ranch Road Pools sets itself apart with a dedication to timeless design and exceptional service. Killebrew admits he dislikes the word “boutique,” but that’s how things started—with just 10 to 15 projects a year. And even after years of double-digit growth, each client still receives the same extraordinary customer care that Ranch Road Pools offered on day one. “And they always will,” Killebrew promises, adding that “growth should never mean sacrificing service.” One way Killebrew and his team prioritize customer satisfaction is through their efficiency. Ranch Road Pools completes projects in about eight weeks, half the time of many competitors, without cutting corners. He attributes this capability to his team’s deep project management experience: “Building custom pools is incredibly complex. Things don’t always go perfectly,” Killebrew admits. “But we take care of it. That’s why we’ve earned the reputation we have in this town.”
62
O UT D OOR LIV IN G | HO ME + D E SIGN
Even as the business grows, Killebrew’s values remain unchanged, with an unwavering commitment to hands-on service and client care. “My parents spent their entire careers in the grocery business. Their philosophy was always: ‘You take care of your customers, no matter what.’” Today, that guiding principle is what drives Ranch Road Pools. At its core, Ranch Road Pools is about designing spaces that bring people together and create lasting family connections. “A pool is an extension of your home,” Killebrew explains, and his own family is a perfect example, as they gather poolside most days of the year, often joined by a collection of friends and neighborhood teens. Their backyard has become quite the social scene, and he wouldn’t trade it for the world. Killebrew admits he takes fewer vacations these days, joking, “Why fly somewhere else just to sit at a pool, when you can relax at home by a pool that’s just as nice as any resort?” Clean, modern, and sleek, “Our pools remain timeless, no matter what era of design we’re in,” Killebrew says. And as Ranch Road Pools continues to grow and evolve, he remains focused on craftsmanship, community, and connection—lasting values that will never go out of style. IRON GROVE TOOL COMPANY
Just outside of Dripping Springs, in a small barn nestled among the oaks, a roaring forge brings steel to life. Here, Iron Grove Tool Company creates handmade knives, cookware, and tools, equal parts functional and heirloom-worthy art. Founded in 2016 by Daniel Collier, a former Union welder turned bladesmith, Iron Grove’s path from backyard hobby to international artisan brand has been as carefully crafted as the knives it produces. “I started Iron Grove in 2016, shortly after moving to Drip from Austin,” says Daniel. “But bladesmithing was something I had been playing around with for years before that.” His first introduction to forging came in 2012 while working as a welder by day and taking steel sculpture classes at night. It was a personal challenge to impress his then-girlfriend, Lynne, a chef and restaurant co-owner, that sparked the idea to make his first chef knife. CONTINUED >

“I had to make quite a few before I earned her approval,” Daniel recalls. “But it must’ve worked: We’ve been married since 2014.” After the birth of their first son, the couple moved to a few acres in Dripping Springs. With Lynne’s encouragement, Daniel converted a small barn on the property into his first shop. He began posting photos of his knives and tools on social media, and the interest quickly grew. Today, Iron Grove is a team of four, handcrafting finely honed tools that are shipped around the globe. Iron Grove specializes in culinary knives and cookware forged with a blend of traditional blacksmithing and modern technique. “Every piece is made from raw materials in-house. We hand-forge, heat treat in electric kilns and grind each tool without jigs or templates,” Daniel explains. “Even if it’s the same model, no two are exactly alike.” While originating in the Texas BBQ scene, Iron Grove’s tools are now featured at BBQ festivals around the world, from Japan to Ireland and Australia. “Texas BBQ is globally respected as a regional ethnic cuisine,” says Daniel. “We’re proud to have our tools used on that stage.” Iron Grove features its Homestead Collection, repeatable models made in small batches, and the Signature Collection, for which each knife is designed and made by Daniel alone. The company also does custom work, bulk wholesale, and retail fulfillment. Looking ahead, Daniel hopes to expand locally and offer more home design items crafted with the same precision and care. He’s also passionate about teaching. “We offer hands-on forging classes for adults and kids aged 10 and up. People come in, learn to forge, and leave with their own handmade tool. It’s a powerful experience.” Iron Grove Tool Company is more than a local success story; it’s an example of passion, persistence, and hand-forged legacy. IronGroveToolCompany.com @irongrovetoolco

E asy-Going Inf luence Olivia Ivey-Davis Turns Everyday Style into an Online Obsession
While busy planning her wedding, Olivia Ivey-Davis launched her Instagram page as a creative escape. At the time, she worked in corporate advertising and lived in Austin. Fast forward a few years, and today Ivey-Davis lives in Dripping Springs with two toddlers and a baby on the way. And what started out as a hobby has exploded into a thriving social media presence, drawing over 125,000 followers who turn to her for real-life, affordable style inspiration. Now a part-time stay-at-home mom, Ivey-Davis fills her feed with real-life looks that are stylish, practical, and budget-friendly: accessible Amazon dresses, comfy layers, and outfits built for chasing kids across Hill Country playgrounds. “I try to do something for myself every day, even if it’s just getting dressed,” she says. We sat down with Ivey-Davis to discuss fall fashion and how she’s making everyday style easy for moms everywhere.
HOW DOES THE HEAT IMPACT YOUR FASHION CHOICES?
DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE VIBE.
Not at all! (laughs) He’s super laid-back and couldn’t care less about trends, but he supports me 100 percent. It’s kind of the perfect balance.
Since moving to Dripping Springs, my style has definitely gotten more laid-back. I dress more for comfort now. I lean toward neutral tones, looser fits, and a touch of Boho. It’s a very Hill Country, Texas vibe.
Oh, it’s everything! Fall doesn’t really happen here until after Halloween, but I still like to feel fall-ish. I’ll wear layers or a cute jacket just to make an outfit feel complete.
WHAT DOES A TYPICAL OUTFIT LOOK LIKE FOR YOU RIGHT NOW?
I’m pregnant, so I’m trying to stretch my current wardrobe as far as I can. I look for stretchy, roomy pieces: leggings, oversized dresses, comfy sets. I want to feel put-together but also be able to move because I’m chasing two toddlers all day.
YOUR FOLLOWERS LOVE YOUR AFFORDABLE FINDS. HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHAT TO SHARE?
Affordability is always a big factor. I keep things realistic. I try to reflect our family’s style without going over budget.
DOES YOUR HUSBAND SHARE YOUR LOVE OF FASHION?

AUBERGINE DREAMS AND WESTERN REVIVAL ARTICLE BY ELONA APPLEBY
Fall’s Must-Have Fashions
78
FASH ION F OR WA R D | STYLE + BE AU T Y
As the leaves change from sunlit green to crisp gold, fall 2025 makes its own dramatic turn—with fashion’s full attention on aubergine. Rich, moody, and decadent, this deep purple hue is this season’s crown jewel. From the runways of Paris to the streets of Austin, aubergine is redefining how we dress for fall: elegant yet grounded, timeless yet daring. But color is just the beginning. This season, style is rooted in the rugged romance of the West—elevated Western fashion that merges classic Americana with contemporary luxury. Think supple leather meets architectural tailoring, prairie silhouettes meet urban polish. Here, we round up five must-have items that perfectly embody the most talked-about trends of fall 2025.
1. The Aubergine Suede Trench Nothing says fall quite like a trench coat—but this season, it’s all about aubergine suede. Designers like Isabel Marant and Khaite are taking this classic outerwear staple and giving it a soft, tactile update. Worn belted over denim or layered atop a turtleneck dress, it’s the kind of investment piece that walks straight from the ranch to the runway.
2. Modern Cowboy Boots Western boots are back—but sleeker and bolder. Think pointed toes, metal-tipped heels, and deep plum leathers that nod to the aubergine craze. These boots were made for walking—preferably into a gallery opening or chic brunch downtown. Pair them with wide-leg trousers or a flowing skirt to balance rugged charm with urban refinement.

3. Fringed Knitwear Fringe isn’t just for rodeos anymore. This fall, it’s being reimagined in luxe cashmere blends and chunky knits—with hints of aubergine woven throughout. Oversized fringed shawls, ponchos, and cardigans are draping shoulders in effortless sophistication, capturing the spirit of the open range with cosmopolitan flair.
4. The Structured Denim Midi Skirt Forget flimsy summer denim—fall 2025 introduces the structured aubergine-wash midi skirt as a closet cornerstone. With bold front slits, stitched panels, and a high waist, it’s a versatile piece that pairs seamlessly with boots, knits, or crisp white shirts. Think cowgirl, but make it architectural.
5. Statement Belt with Silver Hardware No Western-inspired look is complete without a statement belt—and this season, it’s all about bold silver buckles on wide leather bands, preferably in aubergine or oxblood. Cinch it around a coat, a maxi dress, or even a tailored blazer for instant shape and style. It’s a simple accessory that packs a frontier-worthy punch.
Western Reimagined Fall 2025 doesn’t just borrow from Western style—it elevates it. It’s not about costumes or clichés, but about translating heritage into high fashion. Aubergine sets the tone: It’s moody, confident, and versatile. When paired with raw textures, sculpted silhouettes, and well-worn details, it becomes the defining color of a season that honors the past while riding confidently into the future. So saddle up—fashion’s headed West, and it’s never looked more refined. MonkeesOfDrippingSprings.com | @monkeesofdrippingsprings

Do you ever feel like, no matter how hard you try, something still feels “off”? Like you’re doing the workouts, wearing the outfits— but you still don’t feel confident in your skin? That’s the friction of misalignment. It happens when we think there’s a “right way” to look, dress, or train. We start copying what worked for someone else—on social media, in a magazine, or for that guy at the gym—and assume that if we just do that, we’ll finally feel good in our bodies. But it doesn’t work that way. When you’re trying to fit into someone else’s mold, you’re abandoning your own identity. And that disconnection shows up everywhere, from how you move and dress to how you carry yourself. You might punish yourself with workouts that don’t fit your lifestyle or body. Or you could spend way too much money on clothes that look great on a mannequin but leave you feeling awkward and unsure.
The problem isn’t your effort; it’s your reference point. The solution? Play your own game. Instead of chasing someone else’s version of fitness or fashion, ask a better question: Who am I, and how do I want to show up? When your training supports your real-life goals—and your style reflects your real personality—you feel right. You become more open, confident, and at ease in your skin. Not because you hit some perfect standard, but because you’re aligned. Alignment isn’t about impressing others. It’s about being honest with yourself and letting that truth show in how you move and what you wear. So no, you don’t need to deadlift 500 pounds or rock designer labels to feel powerful. You just have to show up in a way that feels real. The most magnetic version of you is the one who knows who he is—and lives like it. LyngsoPaul.com | @paul.lyngso

If you stroll through downtown Dripping Springs, you may start seeing stars. That is, six larger-than-life, star-shaped sculptures—each hand-painted by a local artist—now adorn Mercer Street, bringing new color and community spirit to the streetscape.
“Magic Melody” by Melissa Richardson
“If I had to put into words the ‘style’ of Dripping Springs, it’s Hill Country and open sky.” - Lisa Sullivan These stars are the first installment in the Stars of Dripping Springs public art initiative launched by the City of Dripping Springs. “We wanted to bring fun and whimsy to the community,” says Lisa Sullivan, People and Communications Director for the City. Lining Mercer Street, each star is uniquely designed to reflect Drip’s character, drawing inspiration from Hill Country themes like music, history, nature, and the night sky. Sullivan sees them as symbols of place and progress. “If I had to put into words the ‘style’ of Dripping Springs, it’s Hill Country and open sky. The open sky transcends everything from the past to the future,” she says. “Whether you’re old or you’re new, that’s what you want to protect, and that’s why you’re coming here.”
The star shapes themselves pay tribute to Dripping Springs’ status as the first International Dark Sky Community in Texas and the sixth in the world. With a nod to that dark-sky honor, artist Cathy Richardson’s “Twinkle Bright My Texas Light” was inspired by her nighttime walks beneath the starfilled Dripping Springs sky. “Through my star, my aim is to encourage our community to experience a personal sense of natural wonder and to foster a deeper connection to the place we all call home,” she shares. To bring the project to life, the City partnered with the Dripping Springs Art League to tap into the area’s artistic community. The first six stars—largely funded through a sponsorship from H-E-B—are currently on display along Mercer Street. CONTINUED >

“It’s been really well received,” says Pam King, the City’s Tourism Manager. “Every day, I see people stopping, looking at the stars, taking pictures with them. That’s exactly what we hoped would happen.” Artist Melissa Richardson, whose “Magic Melody” blends the themes of music and family, agrees: “I love seeing how the stars have made people smile. It adds a sense of wonder to our little Mercer Street, a sense of togetherness that ties one end of Mercer to the other.” In that way, the project is about celebrating the unique soul of Dripping Springs, a community shaped by both tradition and transformation. King reflects on this identity: “We have this very old Dripping Springs that’s the foundation of everything that happens here. And now there’s this very new, younger generation moving here to raise families. The big picture is bringing that together to find common ground.” “We all believe in community,” she continues. “We all believe in trying to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. The stars reflect that spirit.” Carrying that energy forward, 10 additional stars will debut this fall, popping up throughout Drip in local parks, at City Hall, and in front of the Dripping Springs H-E-B. King anticipates the stars will draw travelers to the area and encourage residents to engage with the art. Artist Renee D’Arienzo, whose star is titled “Everlasting,” says, “I hope the stars bring more color and uniqueness to show visitors just how special we are.” So the next time you find yourself on Mercer Street, look to the stars: “It’s really exciting to see this brightening up of our downtown area, which shows what it feels like to be in our community,” says King. “The stars will be part of our destination. But, more than that, they’re part of our shared identity.” CityOfDrippingSprings.com @cityofdrippingsprings

Tuscan-Style Estate Sets the Stage for Storybook Celebrations
If words like “elegant,” “grand,” or “enchanting” describe the style you want reflected at your next event, look no further than Villa at the Vineyard. Nestled in the heart of Driftwood, this Tuscan-inspired estate brings the beauty of the Italian countryside to Central Texas, combining European sophistication with Hill Country hospitality. Whether you're planning your dream wedding or a one-of-a-kind gala, the Villa combines modern amenities with timeless elegance. Situated on 13 acres, the venue offers multiple open-air spaces along with a Provincial-style banquet hall. “It’s a place where your imagination can run wild,” says Morgan Bergman, the Villa’s director of sales and marketing. “We’ve hosted everything from parties with ponies dressed as unicorns to weddings with Bollywood dancers and Gatsby-style galas. We love seeing our clients infuse our space with their own culture, personality, and traditions.” Indeed, the Villa is a canvas for lavish celebrations. At the heart of the property is the 5,000-square-foot grand hall, which combines rustic elegance with grand architectural flair. wooden ceilings, imported Italian chandeliers, dramatic spiral staircase (ideal for making that unforgettable grand entrance), and large windows offering stunning views, every design element speaks to old-world elegance while honoring the Hill Country’s natural charm. With enough space to seat 300 guests, the grand hall is one of the largest fully air-conditioned indoor event spaces in the Hill Country, making it a true four-season venue. Additional grand hall amenities include a large prep kitchen for caterers, a newly renovated private bridal suite, separate luxury suites for bridesmaids and groomsmen, and a lounge area with a pool table. “It’s important to us that wedding parties have comfortable and relaxing spaces for preevent prepping and lounging,” Bergman says. “We’ve completely decked out our groom and bridal suites to ensure parties are comfortable and entertained while they wait.” Outdoors, event hosts can choose from multiple stunning settings for saying “I do” or dancing the night away. The vineyard ceremony site, framed by grapevines in bloom from spring through fall, offers a breathtaking backdrop for larger gatherings. Meanwhile, more intimate events—up to 100 guests—can be held on an impeccable lawn surrounded by bistro-light-trimmed oak trees. Every space offers countless photo-worthy opportunities for turning meaningful moments into treasured memories. Beyond the style, what truly sets the Villa apart is the heart behind it. Debbie Bradley purchased the land in 2005 with her then-husband, Don Curry, with dreams of building a small winery and their forever home. After Curry’s untimely passing in 2021, Bradley found strength in honoring their dream by reimagining the space into what it is today: a place where love, life, and legacy are celebrated in grand fashion. “This place has always been about bringing people together,” Bradley reflects. “Now it's about creating those once-in-a-lifetime moments where families and friends can celebrate in a space that feels truly special.” From its European-inspired architecture to its sweeping views and versatile spaces, the Villa at the Vineyard brings a sense of grace and grandeur to every event it hosts. For those seeking a venue that pairs classic beauty with a touch of magic, this gem is nothing short of a stylist’s dream. VillaAtTheVineyard.com | @villaatthevineyard

A CALL FOR KINDNESS Join the Movement: Tell Your Story, Share the Good
It’s a quiet power that breaks through indifference and reminds us of what it means to be human.
ARTICLE AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY STACY BERG
100 G IV IN G BAC K | L I FE + C ULT U RE
When I first reached out to Dripping Springs City Lifestyle, interested in writing an article, my pitch was to write about kindness. I wanted to hear stories, share stories, and spotlight the quiet good happening around town. But the deeper I got, the more I realized this wasn’t just about storytelling; it’s about survival. Kindness is underrated. It’s not soft or weak; it never goes out of style. It’s a quiet power that breaks through indifference and reminds us of what it means to be human. We talk about random acts of kindness like they’re optional and rare. But the truth is, they’re essential. They don’t just help others; they keep us alive. They tether us to meaning in a world that sometimes feels like it’s running on autopilot. Giving kindness freely without agenda and without applause does not drain us; it fills us up. It roots us and softens our sharp edges. It heals things in us that we didn’t even know were cracked. So here’s the start of something—a spark, a sweet reminder: Let’s live so full of kindness that it stops being a random act and just becomes the way we move through the world. Let’s tell those stories together and shift the universe!
HAVE YOU SEEN KINDNESS IN THE WILD?
We’re collecting real-deal, everyday moments of kindness happening right here in Dripping Springs. Whether you witnessed it, felt it, or were the one who offered it, we want to hear your story. Get in touch at citylifestyle.com/ drippingsprings. Got a photo? Even better. Big or small, if it made your heart beat louder, we want to know.

TIMELESS ST YLE In both fashion and facial aesthetics, I believe style should stand the test of time. As a double board-certified facial plastic surgeon, my goal is to help patients feel confident, natural, and effortlessly themselves—not transformed into someone else or shaped by fleeting trends. That same philosophy guides how I dress each day and approach the many decisions required in running a medical practice. I’ve never subscribed to the idea that style should be driven by the moment’s trendiest look. Instead, I believe in a well-curated wardrobe built on elevated simplicity, composed of pieces that make you feel confident without constant reinvention. Give me the perfect pair of jeans and a crisp white tee, and I feel more like myself than I ever would wearing the trend of the month. These classics—like natural beauty—never go out of style.
My go-to look for clinic days is equally streamlined. You’ll typically find me in a dress and heels, not just because it looks put-together, but because it removes the mental clutter of mixing separates. When you run a busy practice, the last thing you want to do at 6 a.m. is stand in front of your closet debating what to wear. I’ve found that a great dress solves that dilemma instantly. Lately, I’ve gravitated toward Donna Karan designs—they’re flattering, timeless, and move with me from patient consults to surgery planning meetings. As for heels, nothing beats the Sam Edelman Hazel stiletto. It’s the
rare shoe that manages to be both chic and comfortable enough for hours on my feet. With a little added arch support from The Good Feet Store, I can get through a full day with stamina and style intact. But style is about more than clothes; it’s about consistency in how we present ourselves and how we care for others. In the world of aesthetics, trends come and go. One month it’s exaggerated cat eyes; the next it’s ultra-plumped lips. But just as I wouldn’t chase every fashion fad, I don’t offer treatments that don’t align with my core aesthetic: refined, natural, and timeless. CONTINUED >

turning down procedures that I know won’t age well or could leave a patient looking overdone in six months. It also means focusing on proportions, bone structure, and subtle adjustments that bring harmony to the face. There’s an elegance in simplicity, both in style and in surgery. The most successful results are often those you don’t immediately notice—where people look rested and more vibrant, but you can’t quite put your finger on why. That’s the sweet spot I aim for in every treatment, whether it’s a subtle lip lift, a deep-plane facelift, or a tailored medspa regimen. Ultimately, great style—like great results— should be effortless. It should make you feel confident, comfortable, and like yourself. Whether it’s the shoes I choose in the morning or the surgical plan I design for a patient, it all comes from the same place: a belief in quality over quantity, in elegance over extravagance, and in the kind of beauty that doesn’t expire with the next season. From Austin to Drip: Meet Eddy, the Creative Force Behind Drink to Remember When Eddy made the move from Atlanta, Georgia to Texas in 2015, he wasn’t just chasing warmer weather or a change of pace—he was following a calling. His passion for hospitality, creativity, and bringing people together eventually became Drink to Remember (DTR), one of the area’s go-to event bartending services bringing craft cocktails, curated experiences, and a personal touch to weddings, corporate gatherings, and private celebrations across Central Texas. “I came to Austin because it felt like a city where anything was possible,” Eddy shares. “The culture here is vibrant and welcoming, and I knew I wanted to build something that reflected that energy. I came here because I was looking for a place that felt alive—where people weren’t afraid to create, gather, and celebrate. This city inspires you to build something meaningful. And for me, that something was event bartending.” From intimate backyard weddings to high-energy corporate galas, DTR is known for its custom drink menus, polished presentation, and warm, professional staff. Eddy works closely with clients to craft a bar experience that feels personal—down to details like a signature cocktail named after a couple’s dog or a themed drink list that reflects the spirit of a brand launch. “Bartending is more than just mixing cocktails,” he explains. “It’s storytelling; it’s setting the mood; and it’s connecting with people in the moment. A good bartender knows how to make a great drink. A great bartender knows how to make a lasting impression. That’s why I named the business Drink to Remember: It’s about moments that stick with you.” That philosophy is the heart of DTR, where every event is treated as a chance to create something memorable, meaningful, and just plain fun. “We’re not here to just serve drinks; we’re here to enhance the whole vibe of your event.” Now with over 10 years in Texas and six years at the helm of the business, Eddy finds himself doing most of his work right here in Drip. “Dripping Springs has become a home for my business with all the wedding venues and expanding demand for events,” he says. In a place like Dripping Springs, where there’s creativity and celebration on every corner, DTR is truly raising the bar. DTRBartending.com | @dtrbartending
