June: Men's Issue
June may be all about celebrating Dad, but at Destin City Lifestyle, we’re shining a light on all the guys— the adventurers, grill masters, chill experts, and everyone in between. This month, we’re not just recognizing fathers but celebrating men from all walks of life who are helping shape our city in meaningful ways.
In this issue, you’ll get an exclusive look inside the gorgeous new home of the owner of Renovation Flooring and Elite Cabinet Designs—a space that reflects both style and craftsmanship. You’ll also meet Shane Weddle, the creative force behind FASTSIGNS, whose entrepreneurial spirit and community involvement are just as impressive as his business success.
But that’s just the beginning. We’re putting the spotlight on a group of remarkable local men who are making a difference in Destin. Whether they’re flying planes, building homes, running businesses, or volunteering their time, these men bring passion, purpose, and pride to everything they do. They’re not just working hard—they’re giving back, lifting others up, and helping create a stronger, more vibrant community for all of us.
Destin is filled with men who wear many hats—fathers, sons, brothers, husbands, friends, mentors, and role models. They’re the ones coaching little league on weekends, organizing charity events, building local businesses from the ground up, and showing up when it matters most. Their impact may not always make headlines, but it’s deeply felt.
So, here’s to the men who show up, stand out, and make a difference. The ones who inspire us, support us, and help move our community forward. Let’s celebrate their hard work, dedication, and heart—not just this month, but every day of the year.

Craftsman’s THE CODE
The
Man Behind Renovation Flooring and Elite Cabinet Designs
ARTICLE BY BIANCA BAIN VILLEGAS PHOTOGRAPHY BY GALINA WELLS PHOTOGRAPHY
In an industry often driven by trends, and fast turnarounds, Mike Anderson operates on a different frequency; quiet, exacting, and unapologetically intentional. As founder of Renovation Flooring and Elite Cabinet Designs, Anderson and his wife Crissie have built successful brands, and a reputation rooted in craftsmanship, consistency, and an unwavering commitment to quality. That standard for
quality, longevity, and detail is the foundation of everything Anderson builds. He’s created more than a business; he’s built a design destination that brings global craftsmanship to Gulf Coast homes.
At Renovation Flooring, it starts with the materials. The showroom reads like a passport for the well-traveled eye: French white oak harvested from a single forest along the France-Germany border, each plank hand-finished for character and clarity. Italian porcelain, engineered for strength but refined in its appearance, arrives in oversized formats that reduce grout joints and increase visual flow. “We work directly with mills and manufacturers who take pride in their process,” Mike says. “You can see the difference. You can feel it underfoot.” There’s also wide-plank European oak with subtle wire-brushed textures, artisan-glazed ceramic tiles from Spain, and commercial-grade luxury vinyl engineered to withstand Florida’s humidity and high-traffic lifestyles. “It’s not about chasing trends, it’s about sourcing timeless materials that perform,” he says.
That same philosophy drives Elite Cabinet Designs, which Mike launched to round out the renovation experience. The company provides full-service cabinetry solutions, kitchens, baths, built-ins, and specialty storage, built with highgrade plywood boxes, dovetail joinery, and softclose precision hardware. “These aren’t just cabinets they’re architectural elements,” Mike says. “They have to look beautiful, but they also have to work every day.” Both businesses operate sideby-side in adjacent buildings owned by Mike and Crissie, an intentional layout that mirrors their integration. Each client, whether a homeowner, designer, or builder, has access to in-house design consultations, curated material selections, and expert project guidance from start to finish. “The goal is to make great design feel seamless,” he says. “Not intimidating. Not transactional.” That same design philosophy, intentional, enduring, and functional, extends into his personal life.
His outdoor kitchen is a case in point: sleek, grounded, and built to last. Leathered black granite countertops add a touch of rugged luxury, while nature-cast, weather resistant cabinetry
from NatureKast provides seamless storage without sacrificing style. Porcelain pavers underfoot offer the durability of stone with a modern aesthetic, making the space as high-performing as it is inviting. “It’s my sanctuary,” he says. That same intentionality defines Mike’s off-hours, which he spends grilling, riding motorcycles, and scuba diving where he’s a certified instructor and technical cave diver. “Underwater is the only place I completely clear my head,” he says. “It resets everything.” That mindset, measured, calm, methodical, has become a cornerstone of how he leads his companies. Additionally, he is part of the Destin Bourbon Society, and is an avid collector of rare labels, limited releases, and bottles collected more for the story than the status. “I like knowing the origin of things,” he says. “The backstory matters.”
Ask him about his proudest accomplishments, and business takes a back seat. “My greatest success is raising two amazing daughters,” he says, referring to Finleigh (15) and
Payton (12). “They both know Christ, they’re compassionate, and they’re smarter than me.” Married to Crissie for 17 years, the two built their companies around the principle that family is not what you sacrifice for success, it’s the very definition of it. “I’ve made it a priority to be present, and I encourage my entire team to do the same. They now employ 47 people across his vertically integrated businesses. “It’s not just about growth, it’s about building a company people are proud to be part of,” he says. In a world obsessed with exposure, Anderson has built something far more lasting; a legacy measured not in accolades or headlines, but in craftsmanship, character, and the culture he’s created. One plank, one tile, one purpose-driven decision at a time.

Veteran business owner shares the true heart of his business
Fast Community with FASTSIGNS
ARTICLE BY SAVANNAH VASQUEZ PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED
When Shane Weddle went looking for a business he could call his own, he didn’t think he would land in the sign-making business. For someone with a military background and 25 years manufacturing products for defense, Shane was looking for something with a legacy of supporting military members, veterans and their families.
“I didn’t know if FASTSIGNS was going to do it for me,” Shane said of his initial take on the franchise. “But, when I came in to look at FASTSIGNS in Fort Walton Beach, it was full of decals for the local military units and functions, so I knew I could really lean into the local defense community with this business.”
Shane has done more than just lean into the military community, since moving to Fort Walton Beach in 2021, Shane has become the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee Chair, and has become so synonymous with the Army Special Forces Association 7th Group that they have named him an Honorary Special Forces Chapter 7 Member.
“Both of my grandfathers served in WWII, my dad served in Vietnam era and I joined right in the middle of Desert Storm. I didn’t anticipate how much I would be fulfilled by giving back to the military community, but we have so many people in the Florida panhandle community who are affiliated with our armed services; it is empowering and meaningful,” Shane said.
Like his dedication to his military family, Shane is dedicated to quality services and products with FASTSIGNS. In addition to offering vinyl products for vehicles, windows and storefronts, Shane secured a license so that FASTSIGNS can offer servicing and installation of electric signs.
“It does so much for me to stay connected to my brothers and sisters in arms,” Shane said.
“The first year after purchasing the franchise, I thought the installs were what I loved most,” Shane said. “The second year, I thought I needed to be the sales person, and I enjoyed that, and in doing that I built a network and community engagement piece that I really liked. This year, I have leaned into community engagement, and that has been the most fulfilling part of the business. Giving back to the community, being part of the community and leaning in.” Having a great team allows me to be so engaged in the community.
“We can fabricate our own cabinet signs, from start to finish,” Shane said. We are electrical sign experts, and we can take care of it from design to install. We do promo products, window graphics, big monuments, you name it, our team can do it.”
When asked what he enjoys most about his new career with FASTSIGNS, Shane said it took him a while to realize that it’s the community he has met and connected with that make his profession meaningful.
When not working or spending time in the community, Shane can be found FaceTiming his three sons and three grandchildren in Indiana, boating with his wife and daughter Ava or rooting for his college football team, Notre Dame.
“We love getting out on the boat, love college football and spending time together,” Shane said. “We are very active in the community. Other communities don't engage in the military community the way this one does. Here, military members and veterans are treated with respect, it’s done right here in the panhandle.”

He previously served 25 years in the U.S. Air Force as a special operations pilot, finishing his career as a group commander at Hurlburt Field. Nate and his family first arrived on the Emerald Coast in 1999. What began as a short-term assignment became a nineyear stay, and in 2019, they were excited to return. They were drawn back by the area’s excellent schools, welcoming community, and the natural beauty they fell in love with years ago.
Guided by the Air Force core value of “service before self,” Nate remains committed to serving others. He sits on the Advisory Board of the Special Operations Transition Foundation, helping veterans turn their military experience into successful civilian careers. As Fundraising Chair for the Air Commando Heritage Foundation, he’s leading efforts to build a world-class museum in Fort Walton Beach honoring Air Commando history. “Veterans and their families have sacrificed so much—it’s the least we can do to support their next chapter and honor their heroics,” he says.

Brandon HawthorneNative Fires 30A
12 years on the sun-kissed shores of the Emerald Coast, Brandon Hawthorne’s heart has always danced to the rhythm of the waves. Today, I find joy in passing that love for the beach to my son. As a parent, my mission is clear: I want to raise him not just to be successful but to be a kind human being, someone who brings joy to others.
This passion led me to launch Nativefires, a family-owned beach bonfire company that embodies the spirit of my home. Each bonfire we create is more than just a glow in the sand; it’s a celebration of life, laughter, and togetherness under the starlit sky. I cherish the memories we make while roasting marshmallows and telling stories around the fire.
Through this business, I’m teaching my son invaluable lessons in entrepreneurship, teaching him the importance of hard work, creativity, and community. I want him to understand that success isn’t just measured in profits, but in the smiles, we share with friends and the memories we create together.
Every day on the beach reminds me of life’s simple joys, and I strive to ensure that my son grows up appreciating that beauty. In raising him to be his own boss in this world, I hope to instill a sense of responsibility and kindness in him so that he can light up the lives of others just as bonfires do.
“I believe giving back to the community, even in small ways, truly matters. It’s the little things—and family—that mean the most.” - Brandon Hawthorne
