I hope this letter finds you laying by the pool or lake and soaking in some much-needed Vitamin D.

As the days grow longer and the weather gets warmer, I find myself eagerly anticipating the arrival of summer. There’s just something about this season that brings about a sense of excitement and adventure.

Sure, Fall has my favorite flavors and scents, Winter has its cozy charms and I can’t deny the beauty of Spring. But when the Summer solstice rolls around, I’m more than ready for the long, languid days sitting by the pool or floating on a boat.

The pages in our Summer Fun issue will help you make the most of this season in Denver North. And even if Summer doesn’t mean three months of summer vacation anymore (because we’re, you know, adults) we can still look forward to an adventure by crossing things off our ultimate Summer bucket list (check the table of contents for ours!) and curling up with a new favorite beach read. (P.S. Teachers, you deserve this much-needed break!)

The two local stores, Arvada Vacuum, are owned and operated by the Barhite family, serving Colorado for over 100 combined years. Trained, experienced technicians are onsite, making a unique one-on-one experience. You’re guaranteed to be treated right, regardless of being a long-time customer, or coming in for the first time. They’re there to assist with friendly customer service and smiles.  Owner Liz Barhite states “We love our customers, and our customers love us.” Knowledge and quality products help in your home, and in maintaining said products.

They genuinely care about their customers, keeping in mind the solution for each individual’s home. They sell products that aren't often seen in other stores because they seek more effective and safer ones. Barhite states “Everything we have in our stores, we use in our homes.” They offer quality products in order to fight the disposability being built into many products. This keeps more out of landfills, and customers from repeatedly reinvesting.

They’re exemplary in mixing community and business, which is reflected in their events at both locations, Broomfield and Arvada. Broomfield’s on July 21st and Arvada’s on the 22nd will thank customers and invite new people to the community. They’re offering snacks, raffle drawings, games, sales and photos with a smaller version of the well-known dog, Ollie, who sits atop their building.

Tyler and David, the creators, have dreamed up a product to help. Tyler said the idea began in 2008 and after connecting with his partner, David in 2018, a “self-taught CAD/ Design wizard,” the two created the Pnumix expecting to hit the market in September 2023.

The idea sounds simple: liquor in one chamber and a mixer in the other, both chambers are kept cool to mix and go. However, either no one has done it before or no one has made one that is easy to use. According to the founders, there are other products on the market, but what makes this different is it’s completely portable, allows for people to use their own liquors and mixers, and not have to purchase “cocktail packets,”  essentially Keurig pods only for cocktails. The Pnumix allows for more personal choice with different settings for cocktail strength or number of shots to include in a cocktail, helping people to get creative when imagining their own recipes.

The freedom of summer allows for more opportunities to get together. Spending time on his boat with friends inspired Tyler to solve a problem he didn’t even know he had: if there is no bar or kitchen available, “making good mixed drinks to share with everyone” can be a struggle. The solution was Pnumix, Tyler’s own business based in Colorado.
