You just lost your job. You just got divorced and lost it all. You have two kids in college. Your Chase bank app lets you know that you are $19.46 from complete despair. Suddenly your phone rings and it's the IRS. "Due to overpayment for the last 15 years, you will be receiving a check for $80,000!" That's the sense of relief and astonishment I felt when I met Monty. Meet the Head Staff Writer for Denver North City Lifestyle, Monty Montgomery. Let me preface this by saying that I am not a writer, which is why he is so invaluable. I am going to attempt to write this because this man means more to us than he could ever know. After vetting several subpar writers for my first publication Arvada Lifestyle, I received a call from the writing guru himself. I had no idea the impact that was to come from that conversation. Monty Montgomery, a former speech consultant at California State, and now a professional freelance writer, had no idea that I was about to offer him $25 for every story he would write. When I told him, he was very impressed. Let's be real, he was not. After an extensive conversation I convinced him of the dream that was Arvada Lifestyle. I am still not sure how. Don't worry everyone, I started paying him more, not much though...*nervous laugh*. After writing several engaging stories for the Arvada publication, he flew to Denver for the publication launch party. I was so excited to meet the man behind the writing that I rewarded him with a car accident right after I picked him up from the airport. What an impression I made. Monty, in addition to writing for Arvada, also took on the task of heading up this new project, Denver North City Lifestyle. On top of his full time job, he's the ultimate professional. He is never on time though; he is ALWAYS early. He goes out of his way to continually exceed my

NATURE HAS A WAY OF SUPPORTING THE BODY’S IMMUNE RESPONSE. Compounds in elderberries decrease cell proteins that trigger an inflammatory response and increase protein (by up to ten times the normal amount) that spur the production of an infection-fighting response. Research studies show that elderberries may inhibit a virus’s ability to penetrate healthy cells that line the inside of the nose and throat – our body’s first defense against the flu virus. Although you can buy elderberry syrup from most health food stores, it is quite pricey… especially when consuming an ounce daily. You can make your own right at home for a fraction of the cost! Place ingredients in a saucepan and soak overnight. In the same saucepan, bring the mixture to a gentle boil and simmer uncovered for 30 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Strain off h erbs using a cheesecloth or a fine-mesh strainer to squeeze the juice out of the berries. Measure the remaining liquid (1 to 1 ½ cups). Return juice to the saucepan and heat until steaming. Mix in an amount of sugar or honey equal to the amount of juice you measured after straining and stir. Let cool and pour off into a dark blue or brown glass jar—label with the contents and date and store in the refrigerator. The syrup will keep for about three months.
