2026 Trend Report
The way we design our homes continues to reflect how we want to live—calmer, more considered and deeply personal. Our 2026 Trend Report captures this shift, offering a forward-looking perspective on the trends shaping interiors in the year to come. Rather than fleeting fads, this year’s report highlights enduring ideas rooted in comfort, craftsmanship and intentional design. From softly elevated minimalism to richly textured, lived-in spaces, the trends speak to a desire for homes that feel both functional and emotionally grounding. Materials
matter more than ever, with natural finishes, tactile surfaces and thoughtful layering taking center stage. There’s also a growing emphasis on longevity—design choices that age gracefully, tell a story and support everyday living.
Whether it’s a serene bathroom that feels like a personal retreat, a kitchen designed for gathering, or floors and finishes that anchor the entire home, the 2026 Trend Report is less about what’s “in” and more about what lasts. These are spaces designed to be lived in, loved and enjoyed for years to come.
Where Emerging Trends Meet Enduring Style

REFINED SCANDI
Refined Scandi reimagines the classic Nordic look with a softer, more elevated edge. Gentle neutrals and natural materials set the tone, while pale woods, sculptural lighting and richly textured fabrics add warmth and dimension. The result is minimal but never stark—spaces that feel calm, balanced and effortlessly considered.

LAYING THE GROUND WORK
Laying the Ground Work turns the spotlight on the surfaces that anchor a room. Statement floors, layered rugs and tactile runners become design heroes, defining a space from the ground up. From warm timber planks and handwoven jute to graphic tiles and timeless checkerboard patterns, flooring sets the rhythm—grounding color palettes and guiding flow throughout the home.

BLISSFUL BATHROOMS
Blissful Bathrooms invite you to slow down and savour the everyday. These soothing spaces focus on soft lighting, touchable textures and calming color palettes that quiet the senses. RUSTIC KITCHENS
Rustic Kitchens embrace comfort, character and a sense of history. Natural woods, worn finishes and tactile details create spaces that feel warm, welcoming and truly lived in. Farmhouse tables, open shelving and vintage-inspired accessories mix with stoneware and woven textures for a relaxed, collected look—where imperfections aren’t hidden, but celebrated.

TILE DRENCHING
An evolution of the color-drenching trend we couldn’t get enough of in 2025, tile drenching takes the idea further by letting tile lead the design. Floors, walls and built-in features are wrapped in cohesive finishes or layered with subtle tonal variations and pattern. The effect is immersive and intentional, prioritizing texture, durability and timeless appeal.

Helping Children Live

CHARGED With TRUST

ARTICLE BY STEPHANIE PARNELL PHOTOGRAPHY BY JAIME VELEZ
When Randy and Sandi Deyo founded West Houston Electric in 1991, they built more than a business—they built a legacy rooted in integrity, craftsmanship, and service. More than three decades later, that legacy continues to power homes and businesses throughout Cypress and beyond, now carried forward by their children Steven and Sarah.
From a young age, Steven worked alongside his father in the field, learning the electrical trade firsthand. As he grew into the business, he became motivated to help expand the company with the goal of creating more freedom for his parents to travel and enjoy time together after years of hard work. Following the passing of Sandi in 2021, the family came together during a pivotal moment. Their daughter Sarah stepped into the business to carry forward her mother's legacy, taking on leadership responsibilities as Vice President.
"Working together as a family has shaped a culture built on loyalty, care, and long-term relationships," says Sarah Velez, Vice President of West Houston Electric. "These values remain at the heart of West Houston Electric more than three decades later."
One particularly memorable milestone came early in the company's history when West Houston Electric was selected as the electrical contractor to wire the home of President George H. W. Bush in 1993. "That opportunity

was both an honor and a defining moment for the company," Sarah reflects. "It led to long-standing relationships with several of Houston's top homebuilders and helped establish our reputation for quality workmanship, professionalism, and trust—values that continue to guide our work today."
What Sarah finds most rewarding is hearing directly from customers. "Especially when they share that our team was friendly, respectful, and genuinely helpful while resolving their electrical concerns," she says. "Knowing we've made a stressful situation easier for someone brings a great sense of fulfillment to our entire team."
Trust is the foundation of everything West Houston Electric does. The company begins building that trust before the electrician ever arrives by clearly guiding clients through what to expect on the day of service. Prior to the appointment, customers receive a photo and short bio of their electrician, along with a GPS tracking link, so they know exactly who is coming and when to expect them. "Once on site, our electricians focus on delivering a consistent, professional experience," Sarah explains. "They introduce themselves, take time to ask questions, listen carefully to the concerns the client is experiencing, and walk them through multiple solution options tailored to the home's specific electrical needs."
Every service visit also includes a detailed home electrical safety inspection at no additional cost, allowing the team to identify potential safety risks and ensure the home is left in a safe condition. "We don't just fix problems—we help homeowners understand their electrical system so they can make confident, informed decisions," says Sarah.
Staying current with industry changes is a priority for West Houston Electric. The company uses a state-of-the-art scheduling and CRM platform, and service

The Fresh Start

A GUIDE TO PEACEFUL AND INTENTIONAL SPRING CLEANING
ARTICLE BY HEATHER SPINKS

Take a second to close your eyes and picture this: The afternoon sun streams through your windows, casting a warm glow across the room. Outside, Robins and Blue Jays sing their familiar melody, welcoming the season’s return. A gentle breeze slips through the slightly cracked window, carrying the crisp scent of early spring as your curtains sway softly. You stand in your kitchen, pouring a midday cup of coffee, feeling lighter—hopeful even— because warmer days are on their way.
There’s something about this fresh, ethereal feeling that not only melts away the last traces of winter but also sparks a quiet urge to refresh our surroundings. The cupboards that need decluttering, the baseboards that have gone untouched for months, the unworn clothes that no longer serve us—it all calls for renewal. This is the essence of spring cleaning:
Refresh and Declutter

LEGEND ON LAKE COMO
In 1568 Tolomeo Gallio commissioned a grand villa overlooking Italy’s magnificent Lake Como. After two centuries in the Gallio family, Villa d’Este became home to multiple members of the aristocracy before being transformed into an elegant five-star resort in 1873. DURING SPRING CLEANING, FOCUS ON THESE FIRE HAZARDS
Spring cleaning is a great time to reduce hidden fire risks inside and around your home. Focus on overlooked areas where clutter, heat sources, chemicals, and flammable materials often accumulate, such as:
Gutters: Leaves and other debris accumulate during fall and winter.

See firefighters explain why clean gutters matter.
Grill: Clean any grease, dirt, and other build-up. Check for nests and spider webs.
Dryer Vent: Lint build-up in dryer traps and vents creates a serious fire hazard and should be cleaned regularly.
Exhaust Fans: Lint, dust, and grease can accumulate on fan blades and in ducts, creating a significant fire risk when the fan heats up.
Small changes in how you store, clean, and organize can significantly reduce the risk of a fire.

We had an excellent experience with Telge Roofing, and especially with Roy. From start to finish, the entire process was seamless-aside from having to battle with our insurance company-but Roy was there every step of the way, offering guidance and support until everything was resolved.
In the end, we got a beautiful new roof, solar attic vents, and upgraded 6” gutters. Roy suggested changing the gutter color, and wow-what a difference that subtle change made in the overall appearance of our home!
His crew was extremely professional, showed up exactly as scheduled, and did fantastic work. They even came back out the next day to do a final nail sweep, which we really appreciated.
