Cullman Cosmetic & Family Dentistry “HELPING PEOPLE REACH THEIR POTENTIAL IN DENTISTRY AS WELL AS LIFE”
Cullman Cosmetic & Family Dentistry offers all general dentistry services. Same-day crowns, implants, implant-supported dentures, root canals, dentures, Invisalign, Botox, and more! But they provide more than your average dentist— they actively seek to make the community better, one smile at a time! CCFD hosts events for Smiles For Life, a charity that helps children with dental needs. This year they collaborated with Ultradent to sell and apply teeth whitening kits, and all money raised was either donated to Smiles For Life or the Link here in Cullman. They raised about 5,000 dollars! To finish out the event, CCFD hosted a dunking booth day, with officers grilling for the crowd while the staff managed the booth. CCFD participates in the Good Samaritan clinic, where they give free dental work to those without health or dental insurance. A few times a year, they also sponsor someone unable
to pay for treatment by giving them a free small makeover! On something they like to call ‘Go Day,’ Invisalign treatments are offered at a discount. Their ‘Botox Boutique’, an after-hours event with discounted Botox treatments and products from local vendors such as Lavish and Chat & Chew, was held on July 28th. Dr. Jonathan Echols describes the staff as closeknit, like family. “A lot of teamwork goes on here, the employees have each others’ backs. They’re always moving, asking if they can help out, picking up slack… There’s not a dull moment. It’s really fun, and makes the day go by faster.” Cullman Cosmetic & Family Dentistry brings so much to Cullman! The staff treats every client with care, stays up-to-date with the latest dental procedures, and actively reaches out to those in need!

WHAT’S IN YOUR LUNCHBOX? —and what’s in Mom’s cup?

Ashlea Chance from Mavens & Makers has once again provided us with two delicious recipes! A yummy meal to make for your kid, and a tasty treat to fix for yourself! COLD BREW SANGRIA • 8oz cold brew coffee • 1.5 oz tequila • 1 oz orange liqueur • 1 tsp simple syrup • 1/4 apple, diced, two orange slices Combine all ingredients, and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Enjoy! GREEK CHICKEN BOWL WITH EASY HUMMUS GREEK CHICKEN NUGGETS/BITES: • 1lb chicken breast, cubed • 1/4c olive oil • 1 TBS lemon juice • 2 tsp Greek seasoning* 1. Combine chicken, oil, lemon juice, and Greek seasoning in a gallon-sized ziplock bag. Massage to evenly distribute marinade. Let sit for 30-60 minutes. 2. Using a cast iron grill pan, cook chicken over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes per side until chicken reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit. 3. Serve chicken over rice and alongside Easy Hummus. EASY HUMMUS: • 1/4c tahini • 1/4c fresh lemon juice • 2 TBS garlic-infused olive oil • 15oz chickpeas • 1/2 tsp salt • 1/4 tsp cumin 1. Using a food processor, blend the tahini and lemon juice. Process for one minute, scrap down sides and continue to blend for an additional minute. Tahini should get thick, like a paste. 2. Add olive oil, salt, and cumin. Process for one more minute. 3. Drain chickpeas, reserving the aquafaba (or liquid left from the jar). Rinse chickpeas thoroughly before adding them to the food processor. Blend until smooth. Add 3-5 TBS of the reserved liquid to thin hummus to desired consistency. 4. Serve!

From Wild To Well-Mannered
Wendy is the head trainer and co-owner of Namaste Dog Training here in Cullman. She provides classes for dogs of all breeds and ages, training with positive reinforcement methods. Here are some tips and tricks from Wendy when it comes to bringing home a new pet! “When bringing a new puppy home, families need to first remember that this is a whole new world for them. Those first few days in the home are exciting, overwhelming, and sometimes a bit scary for a new puppy. Whether from a rescue, shelter, or breeder, the new pet parents should remember the ‘Rule of Threes’: 1. In the first three days of bringing your pet home, your new pup is trying to learn the new rules and spaces, and workings of their new environment. They may sleep a lot or be overexcited. Be patient and give them time to adjust. 2. After the first three weeks, your pup is getting used to the routines, understanding rules, when to expect their next meal, and so on. They are getting in the flow of things.

3. After 3 months, your pup truly knows they are "home." This is when you get to see their true personalities come out.Training should be a family event with one "teacher" to help build consistency, lessen mixed signals, and maybe add a little more fun to training. The teacher would be in charge of doing the beginning training of each cue with the pup. When the pup is responding well to the cue, they get to teach the rest of the family how to use the cue. The teacher can change too! If one person wants to be in charge of one cue while another is in charge of another then that works too. This helps consistency and keeps the dog from getting mixed information with inconsistent hand signals or cues.” The course focuses on helping owners create and maintain a healthy routine that can turn kennels into safe places, help puppies feel at home enough to let their personalities shine, and can make potty-training one million times easier! Dabie is ten years old, and loves the color hot pink! Her special talent is being double-jointed. “I like my friends at camp because they’re very kind, always want to do things with you, and are always fun.” Emma is eight years old and her favorite color is blue. She loves to do gymnastics, and her favorite thing to do at camp is to meet the new teachers and play gaga ball. Her favorite summer pastime is swimming in her pool.

Blaze is eight years old and his favorite color is blue. He enjoys soccer and football and loves to play games at camp with his friends. His favorite thing to do in the summer is to swim. Wood is eight years old, and his favorite color is black. His talent is playing football and likes to play gaga ball at camp. “My favorite camp counselor is Will because he’s really nice and plays sports like me!” Falyn is seven years old and loves the color pink. Her special talent is doing handstands. Her favorite thing to do at camp is to color and likes going to camp because her friends from school are there as well. “My favorite thing about summer is no school!” Avalea is eight years old, and her favorite color is purple. Her special talent is cheering and loves to tie-dye at camp. “The best thing about summer is that it’s hot and fun!”
