Data provided by SHOOK™ Research, LLC. Data as of June 30, 2020. The Forbes “Best-in-State Wealth Advisors” ranking was developed by SHOOK Research and is based on in-person and telephone due diligence meetings to evaluate each advisor qualitatively, a major component of a ranking algorithm that includes: client retention, industry experience, review of compliance records, firm nominations; and quantitative criteria, including: assets under management and revenue generated for their firms. Investment performance is not a criterion because client objectives and risk tolerances vary, and advisors rarely have audited performance reports. Rankings are based on the opinions of SHOOK Research, LLC and not indicative of future performance or representative of any one client’s experience. Rankings and recognition from Forbes are no guarantee of future investment success and do not ensure that a current or prospective client will experience a higher level of performance results, and such rankings should not be construed as an endorsement of the advisor. The Barron’s “Top 1,200 Financial Advisors” ranking considered advisors with a minimum of seven years financial services experience and have been employed at their current firm for at least one year. This is a list of the top advisors in each state, with the number of ranking spots determined by each state’s population and wealth. Other quantitative and qualitative measures include assets under management, revenues generated by advisors for their firms, and the quality of the advisors’ practices, regulatory records, internal company documents, and 100-plus points of data provided by the advisors themselves. CLOUD 9 SALON AND SPA OWNER KIM CLOUD-SKIDMORE AND HAIR STYLIST ALEX PIKES OFFER ADVICE ON CREATING A TOUSLED BRAID
The Perfect Updo ARTICLE STEPHANIE HASBROUCK PHOTOGRAPHY DAWN MICHELLE PHOTOGRAPHY
IT’S ALMOST HOMECOMING! Time to find the perfect dress, don the fanciest mum and show off the loveliest hair style. For those looking for a fun and sophisticated DIY hairstyle, Kim suggests a tousled braided updo. “The trends for summer and fall of 2021 are more relaxed styles,” she says. “Boho messy is what Cloud 9 Salon and Spa is calling the new trend. The greatest part of this look is that it is great for a formal, but also for a fun night out on the town.” Cloud 9 Hair Stylist Alex Pikes shows the step-by-step process. She suggests letting the hair go unwashed for a day before creating an updo. Before styling, use dry shampoo to add volume and hold. :: S TE P 1 :: Alex prefers using a flat iron to achieve a firm curl. She divides the hair in sections and begins at the bottom, working her way up, spraying each section with hairspray as she completes it. She alternates the direction of the curl to give a pattern and add interest. :: S TE P 2 :: As Alex begins placing the hair, she uses clear bands or hair pins for a secure hold. :: S TE P 3 :: Alex adds dimension and uniqueness to the style by creating two fishtail braids, framing the model’s face. :: S TE P 4 :: The braids are then integrated into the style, and a small amount of hair is used to wrap around and gather the curls. :: S TE P 5 :: Alex lightly backcombs the soft curls for a more tousled look and uses Amika Touchable Spray for a soft, workable finish and to tame small fly-away hairs.

Many of the family pieces are imprinted with Jenn’s popular longhorn artwork, which was inspired by the Argyle longhorns that graze near her home. “The longhorn print is world famous, with over 5,000 prints sold everywhere from the Middle East to London and Japan,” Jenn says. “I decided to expand the print into a clothing line. It’s been super popular with the UT crowd, but I do have some secret Aggies who love the line as well. It is gender neutral, so it’s perfect for the family matching.” What began as a creative outlet and escape from her life’s stressors, has turned into a thriving career for which Jenn says she feels blessed to have stumbled upon. “I started painting for fun. It has been an outlet for me to keep busy … But the way people reacted to my art made me feel so honored to create things that point toward creation and life,” Jenn says. “My goal is always to point people toward the light, our creator and celebrate families and connection.” For more information about Jenn’s creations, visit jennthatcher.com.

RAPID MED URGENT CARE OPENS NEW FACILITY AND CONTINUES HIGH STANDARD OF CARE SET BY THE LATE DR. JOHN GOMEZ
DOCTORS BECKY AND JOHN GOMEZ OF ARGYLE OPENED RAPID MED URGENT CARE IN HIGHLAND VILLAGE IN 2006 WITH THE MISSION TO PROVIDE CONVENIENT, QUALITY MEDICAL CARE TO THE COMMUNITY. For the following 15 years, the Gomezes did just that – through their successful medical practice and through John’s work as team physician for the Flower Mound High School football team. This past January, John passed away, shocking the community, which he had served so well. His legacy of helping and healing continues through the work of his wife, Becky, and Rapid Med, which recently opened a new location in Argyle.
