WHO SWEPT IN AND WORKED HIS CREATIVE MAGIC THROUGHOUT THE TWO ROOMS. A former corporate designer with Restoration Hardware in San Francisco for seven years, Brian has been reinventing living spaces on Florida's Space Coast for four years. The homeowner of this ongoing project, Lisa Bernick, is a confirmed foodie and mother of four who loves creating culinary delights, so we wanted to capture her kitchen for you. Here, Brian took out a few walls, added wraparound soffit for lighting using gold fixtures, and incorporated a stunning blue agate countertop, a charcoal glass backsplash, and a scene-stealing copper faucet with matching sink to complete the overall look and feel. Brian enjoys mixing and matching metals and colors. He also enjoys finding unique materials to work with, such as the captivating blue countertop handmade in Israel from hand-cut agate painstakingly assembled by craftsmen to produce the dazzling one-of-a-kind finish. The island it sits on is made of wenge (pronounced "wayne-gay"), a gorgeous naturally dark hardwood from Africa known for its durability and ebony-like appearance. at Bonefish Grill

ESCAPE THE ORDINARY WITH BONEFISH GRILL’S CARIBBEAN-STYLE COBIA ARTICLE REBECCA WEST PHOTOGRAPHY HASSAN PATTERSON

INGREDIENTS ++

2 cobia fillets, 7 ounces each (grouper or mahi-mahi)

6 shrimp, 16/20-count size, peeled and deveined with tail on

2 bamboo skewers, 8 inches long

1 tablespoon blackening spice

Pinch of sea salt and freshly cracked black pepper

5 spritzes extra-virgin olive oil

2 pineapple spears, 4-5 inches long

1/4 cup vanilla rum butter sauce (recipe below)

1/4 cup pineapple salsa

2 teaspoons coconut, lightly toasted

DIRECTIONS Heat grill to 400 degrees. Place fish and shrimp on flat tray. Place three shrimp on each skewer through the thick head end. Sprinkle both sides of fish and shrimp with blackening spice, sea salt and black pepper, ensuring both sides are evenly coated. Spray hot grill with extra-virgin olive oil, spraying fish and shrimp as well. Place fish on grill at 2 o’clock position and cook 1-2 minutes. Use spatula to rotate fish to 10 o’clock position. Cook an additional 1-2 minutes. Flip fish over carefully and place fish at 2 o’clock position and cook 1-2 minutes. After flipping fish, place shrimp on grill. Grill each side for 1-2 minutes. Place pineapple on grill for 1-2 minutes per side until light grill marks appear. Transfer fish, shrimp and grilled 795 E. Merritt Island Causeway

4 tablespoons dry white wine

4 tablespoons white wine vinegar

2 tablespoons shallots, minced

1/3 cup heavy cream

Pinch of kosher salt

1/2 pound unsalted butter, cubed and chilled

1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS Combine white wine, white wine vinegarÂ and shallots in saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes until liquid begins to thicken to syrup consistency. Add heavy cream and salt. Mix well and simmer, about 1 minute. Reduce heat to low and slowly add cubed butter while constantly whisking. Once all butter has been incorporated, remove from heat and add vanilla extract. Mix well. Strain butter sauce to remove any particles. Serve.

SMALL BATCH GARLIC & DILL PICKLES Makes 5 pint jars.

INGREDIENTS • 3–4 cucumbers • ½ red onion, sliced and cut in halves • 3 cups apple cider vinegar • 3 cups water • 4 tablespoons of sea salt • 2 teaspoons of organic cane sugar • 1 head of garlic • I bunch of fresh dill • 10 peppercorns • 1 tablespoon chili flakes • 1 tablespoon celery seeds

DIRECTIONS Slice cucumbers into wedges. Bring water and vinegar to boil; mix in sugar and salt. Stir until dissolved. Turn off heat and let cool. Meanwhile, prep the garlic. Peel the garlic cloves and then give them a smash. To assemble the jars, first, stack in the pickles, and save some room for the other flavors and vinegar mixture. Next, add in about four pinches of dill and two to three cloves of garlic. Add four or five halved, single slices of red onion per jar. Next, give a pinch or two of the celery seed and crushed pepper. Once the vinegar mixture has cooled, pour it into the jars making sure to cover the top of the cucumbers. Seal jars well. Refrigerate for one week. Pickles will keep four to six weeks.
