Temecula Valley Wine Country has so much to offer from hot air balloon rides to amazing views and of course, incredible wine. Did you know Lorimar is the only vineyard that offers music 7 days a week and that my very favorite varietal of theirs is the Cab Franc? Have you heard of Churon Inn and Winery? Temecula Vacation Wine Villas? There are amazing staycation opportunities you may not know!
These places are so close, you wouldn't believe it! It's like going to a boutique version of Napa Valley! I took my parents to Temecula Valley for Lorimar's incredible Mother's Day Extravaganza and on the ride back home my dad fell asleep. He woke up five minutes before we arrived at the front door of the house and woke up in bewildered astonishment, "How did we get back this fast!?! Wow, I can't believe we are that close to those wineries," he exclaimed. That made me chuckle.
Speaking of Temecula Valley, I have an amazing opportunity for you! You and your friends, family and/or business associates are invited to spend the day with me and other Chino Valley City Lifestyle readers! Join us in Temecula Valley Wine Country to enjoy great wine, music, food and sunshine! This fun-filled day trip on Thursday, August 3rd from 9 to 5pm! To sign up, look for the ad within the pages of this magazine. I won't tell you what page, you have to find it! Then, scan the QR code to sign up. We look forward to seeing you there! Space is limited.
Finally, a sincere and heartfelt thank you to all of our veterans that serve. Thank you so much for your service. Without your sacrifice, our freedoms would not be possible. In this issue, we have a special call to action, an important mission for you called "22 to Zero." Please read the article about The Patriotic Service Dog Foundation to learn how YOU can save a veteran's life this summer.
May God protect these heros and protect our nation so that no wicked thing may stand against us. May He have his hand over the Chino Valley community and bless us all with continued mercy, peace and grace.

Summer Time Skin Care
ARTICLE BY SINCLAIR ANDRUSKA
This Summer, skincare takes the forefront as the weather gets warmer and the days get longer. Spending time outside in the sun with friends and family is a great way to embrace the season, but leaving skin vulnerable to sun exposure is a sure way to make great memories turn sour.
Melissa Cantos, co-owner of Medical Beauty and Weight Loss located at 14599 Ramona Avenue, Suite 24 in Chino, has three tips for enjoying time in the sunshine without sacrificing skin’s health.
TIP #1:
ALWAYS WEAR SUNBLOCK
Whether it is riding in the car, walking to the office, or doing yard work, skin gets hit with plenty of the sun’s UV rays throughout the day. Applying a generous layer of sunscreen before leaving the house is one way to protect yourself this season. Melissa recommends wearing 35-50 SPF, even when wearing makeup products that contain it as well. “Always wear your SPF, a separate SPF or if it’s in the makeup, I like to wear something that’s strictly an SPF,” Cantos says.
TIP #2
REAPPLY SPF OFTEN
Using sunscreen is not a one-and-done process, especially when doing activities in the water where it can wear off. Reapplying sunscreen is an important step to ensure that skin is being protected around the clock. Melissa says that there is no set number of times to reapply and that it depends on your level of activity and time spent in the sun. If you’re in and out of the pool or going for a hike, more applications
might be required. One way to touch up sunscreen other than a traditional lotion or spray is with a powder sunscreen. It works like a translucent powder, can be reapplied during the day, and can be found at the Medical Beauty and Weight Loss office.
TIP #3
YOU CAN DO SKIN TREATMENTS IN THE SUMMER
Some skin treatments designed for hyperpigmentation or acne can leave the skin barrier especially vulnerable to sunlight, but that doesn’t have to mean avoiding helpful treatments in the summer, according to Cantos. At Medical Beauty and Weight Loss, they can provide both pretreatment and post-treatment care to make sure that clients are covered. “It’s specialized according to their skin type, or what we’re working on,” Cantos says.
Treating yourself to high-quality skincare is worth every penny. Medical Beauty and Weight Loss can pamper you with a variety of skin-nourishing care, and target things like age spots, fine lines and wrinkles, rosacea, and acne. They can help you put your best face forward, helping you feel like your best self.
One standout service for summer is the plasma facial, which uses micro-needling or simple injections to stimulate collagen production in the skin to maintain a youthful and supple look, something that increased sun exposure can take away from the skin. Cantos says that including these treatments and using top-notch skin care is essential for her.
"I use good skincare products and I'm always treating my face with something medical grade. I'm always doing treatments to help with my skin collagen and elasticity," Cantos says.

Melissa, who previously worked as a Hospice and Oncology nurse for several years before transitioning to aesthetics, brings her attentiveness to client care to her practice. “The background education allows me to kind of dig or think a little bit deeper. It gives me a whole picture of a patient, whether they’re feeling very tired, what medications they’re on, their history, things like that,” Cantos says.
Skin treatments are just one aspect of what Medical Beauty and Weight Loss have to offer. Their services are open to all genders, as healthy skin is vital for all. They offer services such as laser hair removal, dermal fillers, Botox, micro-needling, and weight loss treatments to name a few. Led by a team of experts including co-owners Melissa Cantos, Dr. James Kojian, and Jason Trujillo MSN, FNP, they provide top-quality care and guidance through the entire treatment process.

Yes, One Winery Fits All
Nestled in the rolling hills of Temecula’s Wine Country, one winery does it all. Lorimar Vineyards and Winery stands tall at the intersection of wine, art, music, and food, where everyone can find something they enjoy.
The Tuscan-styled winery gets its unique name from the combination of owners Lawrie Lipton and Mark Manfield names, as they started their winery concept in 2009 with a wine tasting room in Old Town Temecula, before expanding in 2012 to their larger Wine Country location. The sweeping views of Mount Palomar and their dynamic approach to music make this winery an incredible backdrop for family gatherings, date night, bachelorette festivities, and weddings alike.
Lorimar transports visitors to another world, one where quality wine is savored, gourmet food is devoured, and music is meant to be shared.
The Wine
Lorimar Winery is small but mighty as they produce 12,000 cases of wine per year, putting them right in the boutique winery sweet spot. They have collected six awards already in 2023, with their Malbec taking the Platinum award and Best Malbec award at the International Wine Competition.
Sara Cox, the Marketing Director for Lorimar, describes the wines as “approachable, but fruit-forward,” so there is something for experienced wine drinkers and beginners alike. Lorimar Vineyards and Winery encapsulates two Temecula Valley locations, one in Wine Country, and a cozy wine bar and tasting room located in Old Town Temecula. She recommends all of Lorimar’s wines of course but notes that the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah are especially worth trying when visiting either of Lorimar’s locations.
Their wine-tasting menu includes a range of 15 to 20 delectable wines, while there are usually 20 to 30 different types of wine bottled at Lorimar.

The Entertainment
Sure, wine is their specialty. However, what makes Lorimar the place to stop in a row of wineries is their dedication to supporting the community that supports them in return. Lorimar features local live music seven days a week, with an entire calendar showcasing their array of performers for the month, from Bruno Mars tribute bands to acoustic guitarists. How often does one get to experience a live concert after a wine tasting? For those who enjoy the finer things, Lorimar also features a rotating art gallery filled with works from talented local artists at both their Wine Country and Old Town locations.

The Food
While some wineries may have a sit-down restaurant on-site, Lorimar puts a unique twist on their dining selections. Enter Pairings, a “mobile kitchen” that takes the idea of a food truck and elevates it with delicious, diverse food choices that will leave visitors wanting more. The daytime menu includes sandwiches, salads, appetizers, and an amazing ceviche, according to Cox. At night, salmon dishes, flatbreads, and cajun pastas stay in touch with the winery’s Tuscan ambiance.
This summer, the wedding season makes its descent onto Temecula Valley’s array of wineries, and Lorimar is the go-to place for couples who love sweeping vineyard views and dream of an Italian-themed atmosphere on the big day. With three different wedding venues to choose from on the property, there is bound to be a perfect choice for any occasion.
Even after leaving Lorimar, the taste of their luxurious wines is never far away with their Wine Club membership. Featuring shipments of hand-selected wines along with complimentary tastings and access to exclusive events, the benefits of choosing Lorimar are endless.

TEMECULA WINE COUNTRY
Thomas and Alexandra DeCarlo, a husband and wife team, quit their 9 to 5, former engineers, with a dream to create a boutique style micro resort a reality. In the fall of 2022, they launched Gaia Inn & Spa, and by winter of 2022, Villa Inn & Spa, turning their dreams into a reality. Tom can be accredited as the visionary behind this mission and his beautiful wife, Alexandra, or Alex, the designer.
Temecula Vacation Wine Country Villas has much to offer with enough solar power to be self-sustained, with multiple banks of Tesla batteries to extend the use of solar power through the night. Even the pools and hot tubs are heated via solar power.
“Temecula’s Mediterranean climate, cool nights, and warm sunny days make it a perfect vacation destination for more than just a weekend,” says Alexandra. To make your visit extra special, you can upgrade your visit with a couples massage, chilled wine, and rose petals.
MEET THE PATRIOTIC SERVICE DOG FOUNDATION
ARTICLE BY KAT ANDERSON AND TOM TACKETTGet Involved --> Your Mission
--> 22 to Zero
An estimated 460,000 veterans from the Iraq and Afghanistan war alone, struggle with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). These conditions can lead to sleeplessness, depression, anger, anxiety, and isolation. While these feelings can be overwhelmingly difficult, they are treatable, but so many continue to suffer in silence. Each day, in the world’s greatest nation, 22 of our heroes will take their own lives.
Through the efforts of the Patriotic Service Dog Foundation our wounded veterans are matched with highly trained and skilled Service Dogs that allow their new partners to become more independent, self-confident, and comfortable with life outside of the military and first responder communities. The Patriotic Service Dog Foundation's goal is to reduce that statistic from “22 to Zero."
Patriotic Service Dog Foundation is a nonprofit organization focused on serving Military and First Responder Veterans by raising awareness for their needs and providing Service Dogs to those who may benefit from long-term mental and physical assistance.
City Lifestyle was on site for a veteran's event featuring this organization and got to witness the dogs in action. We first saw the dogs through the crowd retrieving tissues from a box nearly 20 feet away from their handler. Intrigued, we walked over to find out more about why a dog would be handing out tissue to people in the crowd.
To our amazement, these dogs can do more. They can control light switches, tense the muscles in their back to assist a veteran off the ground, can even save veterans from nightmares by calming them with their presence and positioning themselves delicately over their bodies for comfort. They protect you at an ATM, block strangers, and get your attention when someone says "Excuse me." They are also taught airplane etiquette by following in between your legs and going down the aisle to your seat. Most important of all, through the ultimate bond of companionship, these dogs save veterans' lives each and every day. Veterans have an opportunity through this organization to have a life-saving best friend. Priceless.
“EACH DAY, IN THE WORLD’S GREATEST NATION, 22 OF OUR HEROES WILL TAKE THEIR OWN LIVES. THE PATRIOTIC SERVICE DOG FOUNDATION’S GOAL IS TO REDUCE THAT STATISTIC FROM “22 TO ZERO.”
This organization is supported by the generosity of foundations, corporations, and individuals. The success of this mission depends on the participation of people like you. Please make this YOUR mission and find out how YOU can help today! On a day when we celebrate our country, please take a moment to think about the veterans that sacrificed everything for our country. Visit patrioticservicedogfoundation.org for more information.
